Polishes -Sally Hansen - Complete Salon Commander in Chic
lavenderbleu 7/7/2010 7:03:00 PM
I was expecting the color to be a little lighter and more grey, but it's really a grey mauve to me. I still like it. I have had this polish on for five days (with base and topcoat) and so far zero chips. It's very durable and long wearing. I like the wide brush and even though the formulation seemed a little watery going on, it dried very opaque and even. I just bought I Pink I Can and Pedal to the Metal. (Buy one get one half off) Looking forward to trying those out too. I agree, these polishes are on the expensive side. However, they seem to be great quality and long wearing so that helps a bit.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche in Fairest Nude
lavenderbleu 6/6/2010 3:06:00 PM
While I am not a fan of the packaging or scent of L'oreal lipsticks at all, I LOVE this color. And I may have lucked out because the scent on this one seems a bit more tolerable than others I've tried. I had been meaning to try Fairest Nude for awhile and when I saw it at Walmart for $5 I thought it was the perfect opportunity. So glad I picked it up. It's one of those rare find colors for me where I can just swipe it on and go. If I want to take the extra step it looks great with a tiny dab of clear lip pumping gloss. It actually reminds me of one of my all time favorite colors: Benefit Skinny Dip, another swipe and go that I used to wear to work every day. Fairest Nude might be just ever so slightly darker than SD, but it has the same pinky beigeness about it and a simmilar glossy finish. I think it's a really close match. So glad to have found a suitable dupe because I finished Skinny Dip about a year ago and can't bring myself to spend $18 on lipstick anymore so I sort of just abandoned that shade. In reading the reviews here some people have said Fairest Nude is a very Angelina Jolie color. I definitely agree. This makes sense too because I read somewhere recently that AJ wears Benefit Skinny Dip a lot. Definitely try Fairest Nude if you like a pink beige light but not too nude look. EDIT: I knocked off a lippie for the scent. Otherwise, this would be a 5.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Moisture Renew - Rose Blush
lavenderbleu 4/23/2010 11:35:00 PM
Another good one from the Moisture Renew line. This one is a beautiful rosy shade that is fairly opaque, creamy and moisturizing. It almost feels like a lip balm, but with a slightly thicker consistency. The only drawback is that I don't find it to be very long lasting. Maybe this is a tradeoff you get with the moisturizing effect. I also really don't like the smell, but as others have mentioned it does fade quickly. Aside from that, I am very pleased with this one. I love Vintage Pink and Dreamy too.

Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild - Silk Finish - 510A Light Beige Frost
lavenderbleu 4/13/2010 9:53:00 PM
I got this color on sale for $.59 at Rite Aid based on a YT recommendation (emilynoel). I am pleasantly surprised. It's a bright rosy sort of pinkish coral color. I have no idea why it's called Light Beige Frost. It's actually quite moisturizing and the color payoff is good. It's a bit sheer, but you can build up the color for a really fun bright look.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Metallic Seduction
lavenderbleu 4/8/2010 11:01:00 AM
This is a really unique plum/red somewhat reflective color. I'm NW20 and I find it to be a really flattering shade that would probably work great on almost everyone. The metallic aspect is subtle, but enough to make it something different and unexpected. Give this one a try.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Moisture Renew - Dreamy
lavenderbleu 4/8/2010 10:56:00 AM
Like this one! It's light and shimmery, but not over the top. It kind of has a moisturizing feel, so that's a plus as well. Rimmel lipsticks are quickly becoming my favorite.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational- Make Me Pink
lavenderbleu 3/24/2010 8:42:00 PM
This color just doesn't seem to work well on me. It might be a little too cool toned for my skin. I can kind of play around with lipliners and glosses and get it to sort of work, but it's just not my favorite pink on its own. I think I will try Born With It. UPDATE: I think I figured out a way for this to work afterall. I just apply it very lightly now, then top it with a light pink gloss. I think I was trying to layer this on too thick and it looked too bright on me. Using it almost as a lipstain gives a nice medium mauvish pink.

Lipstick -New York Color - 309B Sheer Red
lavenderbleu 3/12/2010 11:45:00 PM
LOVE IT! This is a really pretty, wearable red that is creamy and moisturizing. It smells and tastes perfectly fine which is surprising for such a cheap product. Yes, the packaging is not the best because you can't twist the product down into the tube. However, the pros far outweight the cons. You just can't go wrong with this at $.99.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil
lavenderbleu 3/12/2010 11:32:00 PM
This stuff rocks! I got a little Burt's Bees kit for christmas and this was included. I've been using it for the past few months and it's great. I don't know exactly what ingredient in this balm moisturizes so well, whether it's the pomegranate or one of the oils, but it works so well. It's not waxy or heavy at all. I would kind of prefer it to be colorless, because I like to use balm under some of my lipsticks. But it's fairly subtle, so it's manageable. So glad this is so well and highly reviewed. Definitely a deserving product!

Eyeliner -Prestige - Total Intensity Eyeliner Deepest Black
lavenderbleu 3/1/2010 8:55:00 PM
I have tried a lot of eye pencils and this is by far one of the easiest to work with. I love how it applies smoothly and doesn't drag or skip on the lid. It stays put forever, even with my contact lenses in. It is amazing to find such a high quality product at a drug store price. I'm so glad I tried this!

Bronzers -New York Color - Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny 720
lavenderbleu 3/1/2010 8:48:00 PM
I normally use Cargo Matte Bronzer in Medium, which I love, but I have been wanting to find a cheaper alternative for traveling and backup. I heard about this bronzer from emilynoel on youtube and I thought at 2.99, it couldn't hurt to try it. I really like it overall. The color payoff is not nearly as great as with Cargo, but if you use a little bit at a time on a blush brush and add layers you get a really nice effect. For the price, it's definitely worth the effort. I know some people complain about the cheap N.Y.C. packaging, but I really don't mind it at all. I just love finding bargain makeup that actually works. If the packaging is not quite excellent, that's ok with me. I know emily mentioned she heard it was being discontinued, but I was able to find it at a few different stores and the product is still listed on the N.Y.C. website, so maybe N.Y.C. decided to keep it afterall. I hope so! It's a good quality bronzer at a very affordable price.

Tinted Moisturizer -BeneFit Cosmetics - You Rebel Lite Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15
lavenderbleu 3/1/2010 8:35:00 PM
I have a lot of Benefit products and some are great, but this is among the worst, in my opinion. It just doesn't blend in well or absorb into the skin so it ends up looking streaky and I have to go over it with powder to blend it. For a somewhat expensive product, I really don't think it delivers at all. On the plus side though, the smell is nice and the packaging is great. I haven't tried any other tinted moisturizers, but there have to be better ones out there, I imagine. I definitely don't plan to repurchase.

Lip Gloss -New York Color - Liquid Lip Shine in Sungold Pink
lavenderbleu 2/24/2010 9:28:00 PM
This smells really great AND the color is beautful, moisturizing and looks good on it's own or over a light lipstick shade. Love it. Love the price. Glad I discovered N.Y.C.

Blush -New York Color - Riverside Rose 651A
lavenderbleu 2/15/2010 7:33:00 PM
I love it! I bought it because I thought it looked like it could be a dupe for my HG Benefit Dallas. It is very close and I really like it. I kind of needed to build up the color, whereas Dallas is so concentrated that just the smallest amount blended well shows up on my NW20 skin. Riverside Rose is like Dallas but with less of the bronze aspect, more of just a really beautiful, wearable rose. The packaging is not the best but at 2.99 I don't mind at all. Of course, I used a blush brush rather than the small brush it comes with.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Moisture Renew - Vintage Pink
lavenderbleu 2/15/2010 7:17:00 PM
This is a really lovely, perfect color. I just love how this color is not too mauve or too pink, but a perfect combo of both. I have light-medium skin NW20 and it's a great match. It's moisturizing and the color payoff is really great. I don't love the taste or smell of it, but it's not awful so it wouldn't deter me from wearing or repurchasing.
