Loose Powders -Cover FX - Cover Fx Setting Fx

I bought this when I went into Murale to purchase the Cover FX Natural Foundation for the first time. The saleswoman who helped me was very nice, and insisted that the powder really made a huge difference and really made the foundation set to nice finish and last all day. So I bought it believing it would totally compliment the foundation, and at hefty price of $32 CAD no less. I pretty much knew this stuff wasn't going to live up to the saleswoman's claims when I used it for the first time the next morning. There was so much shimmer! Granted, I perhaps should have used a lighter hand, but I have oily skin and really need to mattify it so it lasts all day. A few hours after I got to work my face was an oilslick and I have to blot it every few hours - and when I do, I can see makeup transfer which means this stuff enhances the staying power of the foundation by 0. Not impressed - maybe it'd work for normal skinned girls, but that ain't me! I'll hold onto it (because I can't bring myself to toss a 32 in the garbage) and use it on my body for shimmer. Did not break me out however which is the only plus.

Self Tanners -L'Oreal - Sublime GLOW
keldar 5/29/2010 10:48:00 PM
This is the best gradual tanner I have ever used. So much better than Jergens which I used for years without being really happy with the results.I get nice even colour and a nice warm glow - definitley not an "I use fake tanner" product. As with most of these types of tanners, exfoliating really helps, and take a little extra care around elbows, knees, knuckles and feet. The shimmer is pretty subtle, I can only really see it in certain lighting, and in the natural sunlight it's just a nice subtle shimmer - not the glittery disco-ball that some people have described. The scent is nice too. The consisitency IS VERY RUNNY so you have to be careful otherwise you'll end up with product all over the bathroom. A pump bottle would be fantastic and is the reason I gave this 4 lippies instead of 5. Love this stuff!!

Blush -Revlon - Powder Blush - Love That Pink
keldar 5/29/2010 10:36:00 PM
I decided to give this blush a shot after I had success with my former HG foundation, colorstay and realized that Revlon made pretty good DS cosmetics. I picked the colour because I need something bright on my very fair skin and this one looked really pink and vibrant. I understand a lot of the review that say that it's hard to build a lot of colour, but I found that you really just have to get a good amount of it on your brush and buff it in until you get the best colour. It lasted all day, looked about as natural as a powder blush can and never made me break out. My only complaints would be the price (10+ CAD) and the packaging sucks - why companies put blush into rectangular pans I will never understand; makes it so hard to swirl your brush and get a good amount of product on your brush! Also, the pop out mirror is totally useless. I just finished my last one and am going to try a new blush, but I will definitely come back to this if I can't find something as good for less $. *EDIT* So I tried another blush and got what I paid for (N.Y.C. Mosaic Blush for $3 CAD at WalMart- the colour was so artificial looking on my skin and made me look clownish - yuck. I'll hold onto it for Halloween makeup or something lol). So I went directly back to the DS and bought this blush again - I put it on this morning and remembered why I like it so much - nice texture, believable colour, and accentuates my cheekbones nicely - what more could I ask for?? Lesson learned.

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17

I was looking to find a foundation that perfectly match my skin tone as my current HG is just slightly off (Revlon Colourstay in Ivory for Combo/Oily Skin). I bought shade W2 and was amazed at how perfectly it blended into my skin. The coverage wasn't the best and I had to really blot the areas of my face where I have more redness (around the nose, acne scars etc.) but I was willing to really try to like this because the colour was perfect. Well...by halfway through the day my face was a greasy oilslick. I tried putting on less moisturizer and more setting powder for the next week or so but it only slightly helped. I should have known better and tossed it in the trash then, however I kept trying to 'make it' work - until about a week later when my face exploded in small, whiteheads (indicative of the acne I get in reaction to a pore-clogging product). So in the trash it went. I don't know if it's just me, but I find it mind-boggling that this product can be considered 'ultra pure' and 'free of oils..and pore-cloggin fillers'. Acne-prone gals beware!
