Scrubs -LUSH - Ocean Salt

Oh my gosh, this tore my skin up! I mixed it and mixed it but all I get are huge chunks of salt that are really rough on my face. My skin is left irritated but smooth nonetheless. Would not use again though, this has got to be damaging.

Moisturizers -Mario Badescu - Hyaluronic Moisturizer SPF-15
jgorog 3/26/2008 9:14:00 AM
This is a great moisturizer. It's a light, yellowish consistency that comes in a neat little flip-top bottle. You only need a little at a time to cover your whole face. It leaves your skin fully moisturized and plumped up. The only reason I wouldn't repurchase this is because I found it to really sting my eyes. I mean, I don't apply it near my eyes but I tend to rub my face a lot, so it ends up getting in there anyway. I would still recommend it though, I doubt this will cause stinging for everyone else.

Treatments -Mario Badescu - Drying Lotion
jgorog 3/26/2008 9:09:00 AM
I really didn't find this to do much of anything. I dug the q-tip in the bottle, applied the pink stuff to any active spots, and went to bed. Woke up the next day, washed my face, and lo and behold, the blemishes were still at large. I give it two stars just because I find the packaging fascinating.

Treatments -Biore - Pore Cleansing Strips - Nose
jgorog 3/26/2008 9:01:00 AM
I used to really love using these. It's pretty fun seeing all the gunk come out of your nose and I didn't find this too painful. Fast forward two years and now when I peer at my face I can see exactly where I placed those pore strips. My skin looks nice and even until you get to the sides of my nose. I swear, my pores are big and nasty in the exact shape of these strips. Please stay away from these, they may be effective in the short term but they will ruin your skin!

Styling Products -Garnier - Wet Shine Gel

This makes my hair really shiny! I scrunch it into my hair every morning and walk out of the house with bouncing, glossy curls. Although this doesn't have as much hold as I'm used to, it crunches a whole lot less. Works well & is inexpensive, I can definitely see myself buying this again.

Treatments -The Body Shop - tea tree oil

Wow, this stuff really stings! I guess it's all the alcohol, I've never really had problems with TTO itself. I've tried this on both cystic and smaller acnes. It works somewhat on the surface ones but fails when it comes to those angry, underground spots. The only way I've used this with success is mixed in with green clay to use as a face mask. Combined, it worked wonderfully to dry up existing spots. This is too harsh of a treatment to be used often though, so I've had this bottle lying around for quite awhile. Btw, this is way too expensive for the teeny bottle. Try and get 100% TTO if you can, it's inexpensive and works a whole lot better.

Masks -Mario Badescu - silver powder
jgorog 3/26/2008 8:43:00 AM
Wow this is one huge tub of powder. I've had it for ages and I'm not even halfway through. I've recently given up using this though. I used to think it helped declog pores but I've realized that all it does is cling to the gunk in your pores. I guess this makes them easier to extract but since I don't do extractions myself and I would never touch a nose strip again, I'm out of luck. And I can't even tell you how many times I've tried to use it as a spot treatment without success. Don't waste your time with that, any other topical will have more of an effect.

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - A-Derma - Huile Nettoyante
jgorog 3/24/2008 10:35:00 AM
This is a product that was recommended in conjunction with the body cream after I was diagnosed with eczema. It is a light cleansing oil that comes in a flip-cap bottle. I usually don't like cleansing oils since I sometimes get chest & back breakouts but this has a different texture to it. It actually foams up a tiny bit when I'm washing it off, so I don't feel like I'm leaving a greasy residue all over my body. After using this for a couple of months, I've found that I can't go back to regular soaps & gels. They are too drying and irritating for my skin. The a-derma cleanser manages to clean and soothe my skin simultaneously. Yet another product I will repurchase over and over.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - A-Derma - Exomega Creme
jgorog 3/24/2008 10:25:00 AM
I recently found out I have eczema and was recommended to try this cream on my face and body. It comes in a tube and it's a thick cream that is meant to help relieve the effects of atopic dermatitis. I have extremely dry, itchy skin all over my body which gets unbearable during the winter. I've tried many, many brands of creme and tried mixing various oils into them, but nothing helps. It gets to the point where the itchiness keeps me up at night. This is the only thing that has been effective on my skin. I apply it after I shower in a thin layer (it's too expensive to use lavishly) and it heals and soothes my flakey, itchy skin. I was recommended to use this on my face as well, but it's just too heavy for that. This has become a product that I cannot live without. Would recommend this to anyone with atopic dermatitis or extremely dry skin. I will continue to repurchase this forever.

Liquid -Bourjois - 10hr Sleep Effect
jgorog 3/20/2008 10:01:00 AM
I've been hating and loving this foundation for a few months now. As long as your skin is relatively normal, this is your best friend. It really just brightens your skin up and makes you *glow* (check my pics to see what I mean). The texture also feels really light on the skin and gives a lot of blending time, it doesn't look like you're even wearing makeup! Best of all, I've had no problem with spots or clogged pores. On the other hand, oh my god, the FRAGRANCE. I hate having that powdery, old-fashioned scent hovering around my face! Besides that, this is also really unforgiving to both dry (catches onto flakes) & oily patches (you will look greasy). Thankfully my skin doesn't cause too many problems, so I can keep this as a staple. But people on either end of the skin type spectrum would probably be happier looking elsewhere.

Moisturizers -Evian - Original Hydrating Lotion
jgorog 3/5/2008 10:29:00 AM
I'm not really sure why this brand is labelled discontinued because I see it in pretty much every supermarket I go into. Anyway, this is an inexpensive moisturiser that comes in a really neat looking bottle. The cap is clear and kind of looks like ice; the bottle sits cap down, which makes the lotion really easy to squeeze out. The moisturiser itself has a lightweight cream/gel consistency. It has a light and inoffensive scent and it sinks right into your skin. I honestly didn't think this would provide enough moisture but it does, my face feels supple and smooth after application. I have had no problems with breakouts from using this. The only negative comment I have is that it really doesn't do anything for oilies. It won't make it worse, but if you have oily skin don't expect this lotion to keep the shine at bay.

Treatments -Vichy - anti-imperfection concentrate
jgorog 3/4/2008 3:53:00 PM
This is a spot treatment that comes in a little tube. It is creamy and tinted green. The colour surprised me when I first used it, but it actually helps make the spots a bit less noticeable. This treatment works more slowly than others but irritates a whole lot less. I've been applying it over my usual layer of Diacneal, on acne-prone areas, and it's been doing a good job of calming and preventing new blemishes. I would recommend this to anyone who is in need of a gentler spot treatment. p.s. Even though I don't have any qualms with this product, I think I am going to try out Effaclar A.I.next. It got amazing reviews! UPDATE: Switched back to this! This kicked A.I.'s butt down the street and back again, will not be straying again.

Eye Makeup Remover -Unlisted Brand - Quickies - Eye Makeup Remover
jgorog 2/1/2008 10:17:00 AM
I picked this up because I needed something to take my makeup off without having to go through the whole process of wetting pads with makeup remover (I'm clumsy, I spill alot!). I wasn't very impressed with these though. The pads are thick and have lot of product on them, but they are rough which can't be too good for the eye area. The remover is also VERY greasy, and I spend ages trying to wash off the residue left behind. Definitely not convenient, I'll be sticking to the two step removers until I find something better.

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Corine de Farme - Eau Demaquillante
jgorog 2/1/2008 10:12:00 AM
I'm not sure how easily available this is in anywhere but France, but I love love love this so much I had to do a review on it. I've never used anything but foaming cleansers to wash my face so I was afraid this cleansing water would break me out. This stuff is amazing though, when I'm not wearing makeup I wet one cotton pad, and it cleans all the gunk off my face. Otherwise, two cotton pads takes off all my mascara and concealer. My face is left feeling really fresh and not tight or uncomfortable at all. I'm prone to overwashing my face so I think the gentleness of this cleanser is helping prevent breakouts I would otherwise get from drying my skin out with soapy facewashes. The only problems I have is that I can't get the pump on the bottle to work, I have to completely unscrew the top to get the stuff out and also that this isn't very effective on eye makeup, but I can always use a separate product for that!

Lip Gloss -The Body Shop - Lip gloss dot - shade 02
jgorog 12/28/2007 11:40:00 AM
I got this gloss in 04 Soft Plum. It's a pretty plum that adds a bit of shine and natural colour to your lips. Anyway, putting the colour aside, everything about this was telling me not to buy it. It's in a pot container (my nails get pretty long), the price is too high for the small amount of gloss, and I could tell I wasn't going to be impressed by the lasting power. But then I caught the scent of it. OH MY GOSH. It's so yummy, like passionfruit. I just couldn't leave it behind. I'm not feeling too guilty about the purchase but I'm pretty positive there are better deals out there. Oh I almost forgot, it tastes exactly like how it smells. Yum!!
