Other -Crest - Night Effects

This product was the worst. You apply this uneven white guck onto your individual teeth and leave it on all night, and then you brush it off. It tastes gross and feels even worse, like covering your teeth with sticky plaque. It might have whitened a little, and it caused a little sensitivity, but it was so unpleasant to apply and to endure on my teeth that it really wasn't worth it. Don't waste your money on this one; I think the whitening strips are a better bet (I've tried the oral-b ones and they are a thousand times easier to use.)

Lipstick -Cargo - Cece lipstick

A perfect semi-sheer deep garnet berry-red, so you get a lovely color without the heaviness or old lady density of a cream lipstick. I was especially pleased by the texture, soft and smooth without being overly greasy or waxy, no taste whatsoever. The case is kind of cheap (clear plastic). I have dark hair and light-medium skin so this works nicely as it did for Courteney Cox Arquette who designed it.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre - House Wine
jeanki 2/24/2005 5:25:00 PM
I bought this color based on descriptions alone and wasn't disappointed. It is a nice warmish sheer red/wine color. It brightens without looking too garish or clownish. It is somewhat lighter and brighter in tone and less brown than spice it up which i also have, but in a somewhat similar color family. It is less pink/cool-toned than NARS gipsy which someone else mentioned, which i also like, but i like this one too as a daytime red. It is just like a Stila Bare Wine sport color which i bought before, but in the much nicer Lustre lipstick form. Very nice.

Moisturizers -Estee Lauder - Future Perfect anti wrinkle
jeanki 2/22/2005 12:53:00 PM
I tried a sample of this and find it ok, I guess I'm not a big fan of skin creams yet although I have to watch out for the beginnings of wrinkles at age 30. As a cream, it is a bit thick-textured going on, although it has a nice silkiness to it and absorbs fairly quickly. It definitely has a whitish cast to it with the sunscreen, and I don't like the mildly perfumey-rubbery smell. I don't like jars either as I find them somewhat unwieldy and unhygienic. I will update if I determine whether this is too greasy or acne-causing for my combo skin.

Lipstick -NARS - Flaming Dust
jeanki 2/21/2005 10:28:00 AM
I was waiting for another sheer red in the NARS line because Gipsy and Flair are some of my all time faves. Flaming Dust is a pretty color, looking a garish tomato-red in the tube. On me, it is a bright red with a slight pink undertone. Although sheerish and not as intense as the tube color, with a wonderful smooth texture, it is still a touch too bright for me.

Liquid -Revlon - Age Defying Light Makeup with Botafirm SPF30 [DISCONTINUED]
jeanki 1/30/2005 12:27:00 PM
So far so good with this product. The texture is smooth without being greasy and is ideal for combination skin. The coverage seems too sheer at first, but eventually dries to a very subtle soft matte finish that blurs imperfections. You will still need to add concealer though for darker spots/circles. SPF 30 is great. The color light/medium was a better than expected match given that it was somewhat orangey/peachy looking at first. It is sheer enough that it blends out ok. I think light would have been ok too. (i am usually the 2nd to 3rd lightest in a shade range, yellow based tone). The plastic tube color is actually surprisingly similar to the real shade, but again, it blends out more sheer. I just hope I don't get acne from this; the ingredient list doesn't have any obvious offenders yet. This may be the first tinted moisturizer that really works for me. (most are too greasy or too sheer). And the tube is great, very portable, easy to use and hygienic. The amount is on the small side though.

Lipstick -Giorgio Armani - Lipstick Mania
jeanki 11/22/2004 5:52:00 PM
This formula is their version of a standard opaque lipstick, and it is indeed smooth and well pigmented. The big issue for me is almost all the shades in the lipstick mania line are brown or warm-toned. There are no interesting cool toned reds.

Lipstick -Giorgio Armani - Shine Lipstick
jeanki 11/22/2004 5:47:00 PM
I've been meaning to get an Armani shine lipstick. I got it in #22. I like this color a lot, a natural yet visible reddish-taupe shade. The shine formula is semi-sheer, indeed shiny and feels soft and weightless. The big problem is it disappears rather quickly. I also find the Armani shade line to be somewhat disappointing, they lean heavily towards brownish-orangey shades/very warm toned. Those shades tend to wash me out.

Lipstick -Sephora - Gloss lipstick

421A is a wonderful fall color, a red-wine-plum shade, semi-sheer so it doesn't look too heavy, with a slippery, moisturizing texture. It's almost a little too slippery, so that it doesn't last long, and the grape juice taste is a little annoying, but not terrible.

Eye Shadow -Rimmel - SpecialEyes Eye Shadow

Pretty colors and soft texture, but many of them have zero pigment and don't show up even with heavy application. Unless you are super pale, I wouldn't waste my money on these.

Lipstick -Jane - Barely Lips (any color)
jeanki 5/31/2004 6:07:00 PM
I bought this because of the hype, but found it to be just OK, in Bareberry. It's a very neutral brownish-pink, not really berry, sort of a your lips but better color. The color is kind of flat, not a true sheer, and while moisturizing, it feels kind of heavy on the lips. I'm glad there is no scent or added taste, and the small size is cute. Nothing special.

Eye Shadow -Rimmel - Duo - Budding Star

Disappointing, a beautiful duo of pale green and light lime sherbert, but on application I see absolutely nothing! Invisible dust! Don't waste your money.

I don't agree that it's like black honey or drippin honey, it is more brown without the berry-red tone in it. I don't think it's anything like a MAC lustre lippie either. I'm glad there is no scent or added taste, and the small size is cute. Nothing special.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - Fresh Vive Shampoo
jeanki 5/11/2004 6:26:00 PM
For my straight thick Asian hair, this stuff is perfect. Terrific citrus scent, semi-creamy texture, and lives up to its claim of not being too drying and not too moisturizing either. Doesn't worsen my occasionally itchy scalp. The fliptop is fine but once the entire top popped off and I had to tape it back on. A true staple for me.
