Shampoo -Garnier - Triple Nutrition
jdianne86 11/17/2009 7:16:00 PM
I just went out and bought my 2nd bottle of this! I usually try many different shampoo's in order to find "the perfect one" and this is by no means PERFECT, but there's something about this I really like. I read the reviews on here prior to the first time I made my purchase and thought, "Hell why not?" lol.. and my first encounter was rather odd. I didn't need a lot and I noticed it had the same usual Fructis smell that all the Garnier products have, which I love.. so that was good. I started lathering the shampoo in my hair and like with any new shampoo never used before.. you're hoping for instant results and a miracle lol. Well, the first thing I noticed was that this shampoo was/is incredibly difficult to wash out! I have to use both hands and scrub all throughout my hair to make sure every little bit is out or I get that dirty/greasy-haired look with all the residue. I thought to myself.. this is BS! I'm a college student and have early classes and have no time to waste in the mornings. Well, after I rinsed the remainder of the shampoo.. by the way, I've never tried the conditioner and I don't really condition anymore since my hair is fine/thin and typically very oily. Shame on me still.. but oh well. Anyways, here comes the best part.. while I was combing through my hair, I decided to not use my usual leave-in detangling spray. My hair felt so soft that I thought I'd risk combing through my hair just to see if this stuff is really that good. Let me tell you this.. this was the first time in years that I was able to swipe a comb through my hair without it tugging and pulling! It glided through my hair like a dream!!! Basically, the time I normally spend putting in detangling spray and fighting my tangles is the same time I dedicate in the shower washing out the rest of the shampoo. It makes up for it. I can brush out my tangles and move on with life. This might not seem like a big deal to you, but for me.. this kinda saved my life. Well, hair life anyway. It can weigh your hair down some, but if you have that problem, watch how much you use and be sure you rinse every little bit out. I can't stress that enough!! I almost made this mistake several times. If you have a problem with build-up after a while, give the shampoo a break and try some clarifying shampoo. That seems to help some. Hope I helped some of you out! :)

Liquid -Rimmel - Stay Matte + SkinPure Complex Clarifying Matte Foundation
jdianne86 1/13/2009 8:43:00 PM
This is the newest addition of foundation by Rimmel. I think it's supposed to be their "upgraded" version of the original Stay Matte line. It's supposed to be a clarifying matte foundation and here's what the back of the tube says: "Shine control formula for 12 hours matte coverage. With SkinPure Complex for a visibly purified complexion and gentle botanical extracts to help soothe sensitive skin. Oil-free. Non-comedogenic. Non-acnegenic. Fragrance-free. Paraben-free." Generally, I absolutely LOVE Rimmel foundations. I use their Stay Matte Pressed Powder religiously b/c i have extremely oily/acne-prone/sensitive skin. Yeah, sucks for me, huh? Lol! & the powder from this line seems to cover my oilies longer than other powders! So when I saw this foundation and the phrase "Stay Matte".. I just had to try it out! So, here are the pro's: 1) Love the tube, It's kind of a small, flat squeeze-tube with a twist-off cap. It keeps the foundation clean at the end of the little tube and you can control how much/little you need! 2) The foundation is not a runny liquid-type. It's rather a creamy texture, so as stated above--you get exactly what you need! 3) The color "True Ivory 103" seemed to blend flawlessly with my skin. 4) Applies very easily.. not messy like some liquid foundations. You don't have to worry about it dripping out of the tube. 5) Not mask-like looking. Almost feels like I didn't even apply it! 6) Price wasn't bad at all.. about $7 at Walgreens.. I bought this before Walmart started carrying it, so i'm sure it's a few cents cheaper there! 7) Hasn't broken me out YET! :) Now, the cons: 1) Color selection is very minimal.. they only have like 6 shades, so you might have a hard time finding your perfect match. 2) This is the worst one.. and I HATE to do this but... It doesn't meet up to its main promise; My skin is VERY OILY 30 min. after I apply this.. even with the Stay Matte [My HG] powder.. I don't have time to constantly use oil-blotting tissues, and I really expected my face to "stay matte" for at least a couple of hours, but 30 min. later with a nasty grease face doesn't cut it! I do expect just a little bit more.. Now, my overall verdict: I think that if you have combo/dry skin.. this will be PERFECT for you.. as it gives a dewy finish [not matte] when applied. I didn't mind "dewy" but the full oilies just wasn't what I wanted. It hasn't broken me out, and it's fragrance-free. I think this is worth a try if you have those skin types. Oily gals... BEWARE! If you have oily skin, I'd recommend using/sticking with the LASTING FINISH WiTH MiNERALS foundation. That stuff is awesome, and I was trying to replace it, but I think I'll be going back to that one during the spring/summer when my skin goes oil-crazier, lol. I put that I wouldn't buy it again b/c I like the Lasting Finish better and it's the same exact price pretty much, so I'll just use that one.. :)

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - HIP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner in Black
jdianne86 1/5/2009 3:40:00 AM
I've had this creme eyeliner for only a few months and have used it pretty religiously until it started "cracking" on my eyes and became hard to get on my eyes. I kept digging and digging and couldn't find a good "creamy" spot. Sometimes I'd put it by my heater and that helped a little, but it wasn't enough. I had given up finally and decided to go buy a MAC Fluidline instead for a few dollars more. That fluidline [my first one] is my HG at the moment, BUT the HiP Creamliner is almost just as good. I still had a lot of product left in the little pot and I don't like wasting things, so I researched online and found a way to make your creamliner creamy again... Trick is... VASELINE! Yeah, weird.. I know. But it actually worked for me and my eyeliner is almost like new and vaseline doesn't erally dry out, so your eyeliner shouldn't either until you finish it up. Of course, after a while you should get a new one b/c it's unsanitary to use it for too long, but if you've only had your eyeliner a couple of months and need it to "cream" up again, try mixing a little Vaseline into your eyeliner and mix it with a toothpick. If you don't like the idea of mixing it up, put some Vaseline on your brush and dip it into the liner. This should work almost as well. Like I said, I hate wasting things, so I found this little trick and it worked for me [actually made my creamliner better than when I bought it!], but I didn't find out the trick until after I bought my MAC Fluidline. Oh well. Now, I have a back-up! :P Try this if you're having "drying up" problems with your eyeliner! :) Also, I don't recommend the brush this product comes with. I scratched my eye and let me tell you.. that was not fun at all!! :[

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer - Noir
jdianne86 12/28/2008 3:04:00 AM
Well, well, well. I never thought I'd purchase another Rimmel eyeliner again after using the non-waterproof version of this eye definer. One of my best friend's was in my class and I couldn't help but notice how amazing and vibrant her eyeliner looked. I thought i used the BEST eyeliners until I saw hers. I was like, "What are you wearing?!" concerning the liner, and she pulled it out of her purse and surprisingly it was the original "Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Definer in Noir" and I have always trusted Rimmel products for not only their amazing prices, but for their genuine quality! I realized I couldn't go wrong. So, I went out the next day to Wal-Mart and picked up this eyeliner. I can't remember the price, but I know it was no more than $4 a pop. I used it the next morning and noticed that it was very creamy and bold just like my friend's. Now, I had to see how it wore. That's when the BAD part comes in. I had only had it on a few hours, if that.. and noticed I had the dreadful "raccoon eyes"! I like to wear my eyeliner THICK, and this stuff had smeared under my eye even more, and it even got on my LID! I am half Asian, so I don't have the largest eyelids in the world, but I don't have the smallest, either. I couldn't believe how badly this stuff smudged! I kept trying it over and over but had no success with the smudging problem. I gave up on poor Rimmel eyeliners. That is, until now! I was browsing for my beloved "Stay Matte Pressed Powder" which was 2 for 1.. and I came across this eyeliner again! Ugh! But wait.. it was now in a "Waterproof" formula. Hmmm... could it be my lucky day and my perfect formula? I really wanted my HIP Creme Liner which is what I had been using religiously, but sadly.. it dried out [found out a way to fix it, but I ended up buying a MAC Fluidline instead].. but I didn't have the funds to fork over $10 for a new eyeliner right at the moment! I know $10 sounds cheap to most of you, but I'm from the South.. we like things cheap, and I'm a college student who works my butt off and barely makes minimum wage [which is probably the lowest here in Louisiana!]. So there's my excuse. I came across this and needed something temporary, and the "waterproof" wording definitely caught my eye, and it was dirt cheap at around $2-3, so Rimmel sold me once again! I was very nervous when putting it on the next day since I had a bad experience with the original version. It went on the same way.. creamy and bold. Almost too creamy.. but I was crossing my fingers. So I wore it for a few hours and there was no budging. My eyes still looked fresh, or should I say.. my new eyeliner! I touched it.. no smudging! I couldn't believe my eyes [literally]! The Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer won me over. I think this is my favorite mechanical eye liner... enough to call it my HG! Also note that there is a little sharpener for those of you who like a nice, sharp point [I don't use it...] and a little smudger as well! I don't like smudging my eye liner [obviously], so I use the smudger for my eyeshadow and it works just fine. Sorry this was such a long review, but hopefully I have encouraged you ladies [and gentlemen if any reading this] to try this product! And if you don't like.. you only wasted a few dollars! :)

Lip Treatments -Alba Botanica - Coconut Cream Lip Balm
jdianne86 9/1/2008 8:51:00 PM
I read the reviews here on this lip balm (and this particular flavor) so I decided to go out and buy it at Ulta for about $3, which isn't too bad for an all-natural 82% certified-organic lip balm. I wasn't expecting much from a "lip balm", but hey.. I'm always trying out new balms/glosses and thought for $3, why not? Boy, am I glad I did! This is by far my HG lip balm and I'll give you reasons why it's so awesome. 1) Taste is good.. not too sweet where you just want to lick it off your lips and EAT it lol, but not nasty or bland, either. 2) Smells good.. just like coconut. So what if it's artificial. You can't have your cake and eat it too. :P 3) Moisturizes.. I can't believe how soft my lips are when I use this. Even after it comes off, my lips feel healthy and supple. 4) Not too thick or too thin. Texture and consistency are exactly what I look for in a balm and this provides it! I hate balms that you have to keep applying around your lips b/c they don't seem to cover well enough. Not a problem with this balm. 5) Leaves a nice, healthy sheen to lips. Not too glossy, but not unnoticeable either. 6) Doesn't leave that nasty white crust/gunk around your lips if you forget to reapply/forget to remove it. 95% of the lip balms/glosses I use leave that nasty crust after they dry a bit and it's gross and annoying. Thanks Alba! 7) Actually stays on my lips for a long time even when drinking/eating. Yes, it comes off a little, but I can still feel the "slip" of the balm after most of it has come off. Impressive. I like not having to reapply every 30 minutes! 8) While most of you will disagree with me on this, I like the fact that it has no sunscreen or chemical taste. SUNSCREEN GIVES IT THAT CHEMICAL FLAVOR/TASTE WE ALL HATE! That's why I hate it... it's not a natural ingredient and therefore should not be in this lip balm and thankfully, it isn't. I know, you all hate me now! :P Would I repurchase? You're damn right. I would also like to try the other flavors as well. I would pay more than $3 for this as well.

Lip Treatments -Clinique - Superbalm Lip Treatment
jdianne86 9/1/2008 8:36:00 PM
I'm the type of person who will try just about any lip balm/gloss that's out there despite how expensive or cheap it is. I just want it to last for a little while. I don't think that's a lot to ask as long as you're not eating or drinking something to make your balm/gloss come off. I was at Dillard's at the Clinique counter and I usually always come here to MUA first before making my final decisions on whether to purchase a product or not. Obviously, there are many positive reviews here, and I bought a set of 4 VERY small tubes (.17 fluid oz. each) of Superbalm's that came in a cute little orange and white pouch. The ones included were: 01 Apricot, 02 Raspberry, 07 Lilac, and 10 Grapefruit. They all appear to be those exact colors in the tube, but once applied, they're very sheer, which I don't really mind at all. They look very shiny and glossy on the lips. Basically, they make your lips appear very lush and healthy. Unfortunately, they don't last worth a darn. I spent $25 bucks on these little babies hoping they would be long-lasting, but it seemed that as soon as I applied them.. they just kinda dried on my lips within 30 minutes of the application! I've tried wearing balm underneath them and that still doesn't help. For $25, I could've bought a bunch of cheap gloss-balms that would be longer-lasting. Oh well, I just wanted to see what all the hype was and they just didn't tickle my fancy, I suppose. I will continue to use the small tubes up, but will not repurchase. Also, the outside of each tube has a sticky feel to it where I guess some of the gloss possibly may have leaked out? I close all my glosses tight, too. :\

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Exaggerate Full Colour Eye Definer (all colours)
jdianne86 4/1/2008 12:54:00 AM
EDiT: December 28, 2008 Ladies and gents, try the "Waterproof" version of this "Exaggerate Eye Definer"... it is amazing! I gave it 4 stars! I will probably change it to 5 very soon. It KILLS the non-waterproof version of this.. I couldn't believe how long it stayed on! Try it if you are having "smudging" problems with this one! I had a million eye liners, but I decided to get this one because my best friend was wearing this and it looked AWESOME! Her eyes looked fresh and bold black.. very sultry and defined. I asked her what she used and she whipped out Rimmel eyeliner in black and I know it was this one.. I remember seeing the word "Exaggerate" on it. Haha. I went out that night looking for it at Wal-Mart, and boo; they didn't have it in stock. So, I went to Walgreens the next day and found it found $1.00 more than Wal-Mart.. almost $6! Oh well, if it's that good, it's worth it right? Well, it applies like a dream and looks great for the first 10 minutes, then here comes raccoon eyes and don't even think about sleeping in this or crying/sweating! It will get into your eyes and while it hasn't burned yet... it still looks unattractive when it gets all gummy and runny looking. Maybe it's because I have slightly slanted eyes [I'm half Vietnamese] and maybe eyeliner is just hard to work with my eyes, but this one smudges and smears worse than some of my other ones. In fact, I bought a similar eyeliner for $1 at Dollar Tree by LA Colors that was just as bad, lol.. and this was almost $6. Hmm, no, I would not repurchase, I'll stick to something else even though I'll use this up. Too bad because I loved the way it applied so smooth and creamy with no skipping and the color is VERY intense and bold... =[

Liquid -Rimmel - Lasting Finish Enriched w/ Minerals
jdianne86 1/11/2008 2:45:00 AM
I was at Walgreens one night looking for my regular "Lasting Finish" foundation, but I had absolutely no luck. I didn't feel like going to Wal-Mart considering it was so late, so I couldn't help but notice the gimmicky end-cap display of new Rimmel products. They had a new lip plumping lipgloss and beside the display of glosses was a display case of "Lasting Finish foundation Enriched with Minerals". Unfortunately, I checked out the rimmel website and this new product is not even displayed yet, so I can't show you a picture. Anyway, this foundation is pretty much the same as the original "Lasting Finish" but with minerals. The tube is also see-through and looks more like their Stay Matte foundationp bottle... just transparent so you can see the actual color and not just a little sticker on the front with a swatch of color. I've had a pretty good experience with Rimmel's cosmetics, so I decided to pick this one up in replace of my almost empty regular Lasting Finish foundation. I already loved my other one, but this one seems to work just as well if not better. The shade I bought was True Ivory 103. The shade is a little light for my skin, but Pale Biscuit [in my other Rimmel foundation] was a little too dark, so I just use a darker powder over it and everything is fine. I love love love this foundation and I admit it's a little more expensive than the regular LF at around $8 a tube, but this will probably last me a while, so no worries. I think you all should give this a try if it's available in your local Walgreens [haven't found it at Wal-Mart yet] so if you can't find it yet, just give it some time since it is a new product. The back of the tube reads: "Transfer-Resistant formula looks freshly applied for up to 16 hours. Enriched with minerals to help re-energize skin. Comfortable wear." The claim seems to be promising so far with no break-outs and being transfer-resistant and controlling my oilies. I would purchase again in a heart-beat & yes, I do recommend!

Pressed Powders -Wet 'n' Wild - Pressed Powder
jdianne86 12/12/2007 1:04:00 AM
EDIT: 3/20/2010... Yes, it's been nearly 3 years since my review on this, and I have used other powders in the meantime since I like to change my make-up a lot, but I found this sitting in my bag and decided to try it over my Rimmel Lasting Finish w/ minerals foundation and wow... I remembered why I gave it this review! Prior to using this again, I was using Physician's Formula Loose Mineral Powder and it didn't break me out and it gets the job done, but I get major oilies using that. This cheap, but high quality powder got the job done [yet again] and no break-outs.. no streaks, and the best thing? You know it... my face didn't look half as oily! It's an amazing powder! Unfortunately, it looks like this may have been discontinued. :( I can't find it anywhere.. and the place I bought it from, Walgreens, has replaced this with some of their new mineral pressed powder.. and I can't speak for that since I've yet to try that one. Don't get me wrong.. I'm all for the natural/mineral thing, but it seems like they don't do as well of a job as the regular powders.. at least not for an oily face like mine. :\ We'll see though. Bumped my rating from 4 lippies to 5.. b/c I can't imagine a drugstore powder at this price doing this wonderful of a job! Lately, I've been using mineral foundations/powders, but I've been wanting a little more coverage, so I've been going back to my liquid foundation + powder. Well, I read some RAVE reviews on Rimmel's Stay Matte Pressed Powder in the shade "Sandstorm", so I paid about $5 for that. Although it is a good powder, I have to dig my powder brush into it basically to get any powder on my brush. For a while, I was being snotty and only using LOOSE powder because of this problem, but loose powder was constantly getting all over my clean shirts and everything, so I decided to try the pressed powder. I was in Walgreens the other night and they had a BOGO on all Wet N' Wild products! Considering how good of quality these products are & at such a wonderful price, I picked up two items! The first was the MegaLiner liquid eyeliner in "Brown".. not dark brown, but just regular brown.. the semi-bronze colored one... which is awesome, but I'll save that for another review. The other product I purchased was the UltimateTouch pressed powder in "Buff" because the color selction is limited. I had a hard time getting the compact open at first, but that's no biggie. The powder was soft to the touch and it looked rather pale when it was on my finger, so I began to get a little nervous! Oh well, I tried it this morning over my Rimmel Lasting Foundation and it was a bit chalky at first and made me looked washed out, but eventually it evened out my skintone (I don't have many scars + breakouts right now so I'm rather lucky right now!), so I can't tell you how well this covers. However, my make-up stayed fresh all day and I didn't need a touch-up whatsoever. So far I haven't had any breakouts, so this may be a HG. I'll let you ladies know if I come across anything "odd". I don't recommend the sponge application; I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.. it looks/feels cheap/worthless. Use your own large powder brush for a nice, flawless application. I couldn't believe some of the negative reviews for this! Perhaps they're using the application provided? If so, that's not recommended! Would I buy this again? You bet. At only 3 bucks, why WOULDN'T I? Lol! If it gets the job done, I say yes.

Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Bee Kissed Shea Butter Lip Balm
jdianne86 11/18/2007 9:30:00 PM
Honestly, I'm surprised there aren't more reviews on this recently discovered product line of "Bee Kissed" lip products! Anyway, I've only been able to find them at my local Sally's Beauty Salon, so they're pretty cheap and I believe they're a knock-off of "Burt's Bees" lip balm. I gave in and bought a 4-piece holiday gift set for MYSELF [hehe] and it had a shea butter, mint, and beeswax lip balm. There was also a mint lip shine, but I don't like that too much. The balms, however, have a very soft and emollient texture and consistency. They all rpetty much have the same flavor [which I love!].. a tingly, minty, feel AND taste. Yes, these actually have a sweet peppermint TASTE and not just "feel" like Burt's Bees. These little balms and half the cost of BB's and they taste good and go on a lot smoother and thicker [but not too thick]. I'm shocked at the review below mine, because I prefer this balm over Chapstick and BB's ANY DAY! If you haven't tried these out yet, go to your local Sally's and try one! If you don't like them, they're not expensive... soooo it's only about $2 wasted. =] I don't recommend the lip shine, however. It has a REALLY STRONG pepperminty-chemical taste in your mouth. The kit that I purchased was a holiday special and it was $6.99 without a card, but with my Sally's card, it was $6.49! :)

Liquid -Rimmel - Renew & Lift
jdianne86 11/10/2007 1:35:00 AM
I was in Wal-Mart last night and I have this impulse to always walk through the cosmetics department... I'm sure you all have done it too! My friends get really pissed at me because I *HAVE* to make a quick [or at least I think it's quick!] visit. I passed through the Rimmel section and saw this foundation paired with a free concealer. I think the concealer was called "Recover" or something along those lines. For about $7.00... I could not resist. I've walked by this foundation several times, but never picked it up simply because I don't need anymore make-up! Lately, I've been using Everyday Minerals make-up, and have NOT been using any kind of liquid foundation since I have oily, acne-prone skin. Most liquid foundations sink into my pores and make me look extremely greasy. I can't resist items with something for "free" attached to them, so I thought well... if I break out or look like an orange... it's not a lot of money wasted... and I'll just wait until my skin clears up and discontinue the use of liquid make-up altogether. Well, as I stated.. I was very skeptical when using this for the first time [which was today] because I had school [I'm in college]... at 8 in the morning and sometimes my make-up skills aren't that great, plus if this foundation sucked... I'm sure I would have been very disappointed. Anyway, I must say that I absolutely love the pump bottle concept. It keeps the foundation very sanitary and I don't have to worry about bacteria and all that good stuff. I also really like the fragrance of this foundation, but would rather it be fragrance-free since I'm paranoid about my skin. I get cystic acne bumps all the time and they literally take weeks, sometimes months to heal... and they usually ALWAYS scar up. I hate scars! Anyway, once I applied this to my skin.. I spent a good 5-10 minutes blending it in. I hate having a base line around my face and I didn't want it to be splotchy [remember, I hadn't worn liquid foundation in months since I was using mineral makeup]. You can say I went a little overboard. Okay, so I have everything blended in. By the way, I purchased "True Ivory", which is the second lightest shade. As others have stated, the color shades are limited and tend to be on the dark side. Fair-skinned ladies... beware lol. I used to be a NC-30, but sometimes my skin color changes... not drastically lol, but it'll get lighter, then darker. Weird, I know. I'm perfectly normal, however. Ehhh... anyway, I applied my Physician's Formula Mineral Powder with my Mary Kay Powder Brush. I did notice that my brush felt a little "icky" after swiping it over this foundation. Since this foundation is supposed to be "moisturizing", I think that's why it didn't glide across my face as easily as it should when I use a "matte" base. Anyway, I only have one or two spots that needed to be blended in a little. No biggy. I applied this foundation at around 6:30 A.M. this morning and it's 12:32 A.M. [midnight] right now. I'm still wearing this and it looks great! Yes, my skin was a little oily, and there werw a few splotches [however, I will NOT blame this foundation itself since I think it might have been my blush that caused the splotches]! I will try wearing a lighter blush/no blush at all to verify my assumption. So fat, no flare ups of acne or anything, so this might be a good sign! If anything happens, I will let you all know. I promise. Before using this foundation, Mary Kay Medium-Coverage foundation in Beige 300 [I think it was 300.. sorry] was my HG, buttttt this might be a close cut! :) Also, sorry for this being so wordy...!! EDiT AS 0F 11/18/07: I still like this foundation, but when I apply my powder on top of it, it just feels like it sits... it has a sticky texture [the foundation on my skin] and it leaves a few little splotches. My face gets oilier sooner than with my Mary Kay Beige 300, and I feel like I can just rub this right off in GOBS.. meaning, I feel as if this is caked on rather than light and airy like my MK foundation. I took off a lippie, but maybe if I try the lightest shade [which isn't that light] it might work out better. I'm sticking with my MK for now and will use this when I'm not going out too much. Sorry!! :[

Liquid -Maybelline - Pure Makeup [DISCONTINUED]
jdianne86 9/16/2007 8:48:00 PM
I read a review somewhere from a girl who uses this foundation and she had a before and after pic of herself when she was wearing this, and it looked FLAWLESS. A few days later, I ran to my local Wal-Mart and picked this up in Nude Light #4. I tested it out and it blended flawlessly.. no dark orange spot or extremely pale spot. I threw it into my basket and couldn't wait to make my face look like this other girl's. The next morning when I applied it, it went on fairly smoothly... I used my fingers to blend. I don't care if it's sanitary or not. :P For the most part, it felt like it was going on well, but something strange happened with this foundation. The more I blended it, the drier it got. It was almost like I was rubbing in dry paint and it hadn't even quite finished blending. Also, considering this is supposedly made from 50% water, it felt like water going on. The coverage was moderate. I tried it the next day and decided to blend it quickly one section at a time instead of dotting it on everywhere. This was working, BUTTTT... the foundation was forming little "balls" onto my face. At first, I thought it was dry skin on my face, but my skin is OILY, so there is no way this could be happening. I kept trying to get the foundation to set, but BALLS/CLUMPS of foundation were falling from my face everywhere. It was the weirdest thing that any foundation I have ever used had done. Also, it covered my previous acne scars quite well, but my skin was extremely oily within let's say... 30 minutes or so with my HG Mineral Powder, Physician's Formula. The foundation had "melted" off [or into] my skin and I looked like an oil factory. I'm still going to try to use this and find another powder to try to help eliminate my oilies, but the clumping part really upsets me. I can't say this has broken me out yet because I break out anyway no matter if I wear make-up or not. I usually just wear my Mary-Kate & Ashley Double-Ended Concealer for my scars/redness, then apply my powder for a finished look [other than eyeshadow, eyeliner, etc.] Hopefully, this will work out better for the person who is reading this review. I wanted my skin to look like that girl's so badly! D:

Lip Gloss -New York Color - kiss gloss in pink lemonade
jdianne86 8/12/2007 2:11:00 AM
Okay, so I made a trip to my local Target on a Saturday night [that's tonight] and I pass the NYC Cosmetics section and these "Kiss Glosses" really stood out. They were $2.74 + tax a pop and I saw a sheer red shade called "Cherry" a pale shimmery pink called "Pink Lemonade" and another darker orange-ish pink w/ shimmer called... Strawberry Banana.. Yes, I think that's the name! I also saw a clear one and a brown one [sorry, I don't remember the names exactly...] Anyway, I had picked up Strawberry Banana and Pink Lemonade without blinking.. .then I saw Cherry sitting there just begging for me to buy it too. It looked so nice, but why in the world do I need this many glosses?! I thought oh what the hell and grabbed it too. So far, I've worn both Cherry and am actually wearing Pink Leminade right now. I have to say these glosses really do look shiny, are sticky [in a good way] and taste dang yummy! Most lip glosses I've purchased are misleading becuase they'll claim to be "flavored" but they're only scented with perfume or something. These actually taste good. I really don't understand the negative reviews for this and to whomever said this tasted/smelled like Pine Sol must've bought a rancid gloss! The color shows up on my naturally link pink lips and the taste is dead-on pink lemonade... cannot believe it's artificial. The cherry one tasted like real cherries, too! I'm waiting until I try out the Strawberry Banana one [I can't wear that many glosses at one time or they'll look really greasy], but anyway, I think if you're on a tight budget or maybe you're just a compulsive lipgloss-a-holic shopper as myself, you might want to try these out to add to your stash! :P

Eyeliner -New York Color - Liquid Eyeliner
jdianne86 8/2/2007 6:47:00 PM
I was at Target one day and I happened to pass the NYC section and saw this dirt cheap liquid eyeliner for $1.99! I've gotten into the whole "liquid eyeliner" fad and have 3 different ones right now and so far this one is my favorite. I can't believe all the negative reviews on this! The brush handle is long and I can see how the bristles might separate a little but, but I can make a GREAT defined line . It still takes me some time [about 4 minutes doing top and bottom of each eye] using LE, but it looks so bold and nicely defined that it's worth it if I have time. I bought "Black"... yeah I wish they had these in more vibrant colors, but that's all right. I'll check out Wet N' Wild's LE. I haven't noticed hardly any flaking, it stays on until I'm ready to take it off, it hardly leaves residue when I wash my face unlike pencil/mechanical eyeliner, and it only cracks just a little. Nothing severe. I also use eye primer though whether it be Mary Kay's Eye Primer, Vaseline, or NYC's Reflect and Perfect's Eye Primer... Give this a try if you haven't. I guess it just works for some people while others it doesn't. Not bad for a cheapie! :P

Lip Treatments -Carmex - LipBalm
jdianne86 7/16/2007 10:28:00 PM
I generally really like Carmex lip products, but only certain ones. What do I mean? I have always liked the original scent/flavor the best. It doesn't have the most pleasant taste in the world, but you're not supposed to be licking it right? I love the way it tingles on my lips when I apply it and it doesn't add an over-the-top shine, but it makes my lips look full and healthy. I have the pot version in original for now. I used to own the click stick and squeeze tube, but they were in my purse that was stolen about a year ago along. Recently, I discovered some new scented Carmex lip balms. I, indeed, had to try them out. The first one I found was the "Cherry Click-Stick" and I absolutely love that one! My boyfriend even has a stick for himself in his truck, butttt he let his melt and the contents went to one side of the tube, lol. The texture of this click stick is very emollient, smooth, and waxy [but in a good way]. I don't have to re-apply it over and over like I have a compulsive disorder. The scent is pleasing as well. My second Camrex I purchased was in "Strawberry click stick". I like the scent of it, but the texture is slightly different than my cherry. It's not as emollient and the texture is a little dry if you ask me. Therefore, I don't wear it too much.. so sad b/c I love anything strawberry flavored/scented. =[ A few days later, I picked up the "mint" version of the click stick. It smells really good and the tingling sensation is even greater. That doesn't really matter to me though. Now, my main reason for posting this was to mention the Cherry scent in a new squeeze tube/pot form that I found at Walgreens. I haven't seen it anywhere else, but who knows. I picked these up thinking they were going to be just like my beloved cherry click stick, but boy... was I seriously wrong. Let me start by saying that the squeeze tube version tastes repulsive! Remember how I mentioned earlier about not licking off your lip gloss? Well, I didn't even try and all I could taste was chemicals. I don't know what it was. My boyfriend kissed me with the gloss on and he was like, "That tastes so gross..." which basically means, no kisses when I'm wearing this crud. I'm going to try to use it up, but not out in public. The pot form is not much better. The texture/consistency is more slick than the original in pot form. It's definitely not as waxy and the shine is over the top. It also has a chemical-like taste. Although it is marginally better than the squeeze version, I'd rather just stick to my click sticks/original. I would repurchase only in the ones I prefer, not the new ones. Edit: Ladies, I believe Carmex now uses mineral oil in their products. Perhaps that is why they're so wet and oily on the lips + have that bad taste. The ingredients have changed on the cherry squeeze tube + pot. There's also no salicylic acid [which could be a good thing???], no meadowfoam seed oil [don't ask me what that is...], and cocoa butter was added [I have never had a problem w/ cocoa butter though], so I really don't know. They better not touch the original or all hell will break loose at Carma-Labs.com! :P
