Gels/Soaps -Aveeno - Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash
jbeans33 7/17/2006 3:05:00 PM
I discovered this at Meijer the other day and decided to try out as a body and face wash. I like it as a body wash because my skin is SOOOO incredibly sensitive and I get rashes from fragrances. However, I wasn't as crazy about it as a face wash. I think it may have contributed to a few breakouts that appeared after using this on my face. I would buy it again but, only for use as a body wash.

Eyeliner -Prestige - Waterproof Automatic Eyeliner in Smoke Green
jbeans33 6/21/2006 7:01:00 PM
I really like the way this eyeliner draws attention to my blue/grey eyes without making me looking harsh or overly made up. It glides on easily and has pretty good staying power. Only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because it isn't entirely waterproof (smudges a bit if I wear it on my under eyes). Definitely worth the money.

Cleansers -Earth Science - Clarifying Facial Wash
jbeans33 6/5/2006 3:12:00 PM
SOOOO dissapointed by this cleanser. I have extremely sensitive, oily, acne prone skin that has been misbehaving lately and this cleanser was recommended to me. After only 3 days my skin developed itchy, red bumps all over. I know for a fact that the cleanser caused this b/c I used it on my face, neck, and chest (areas where I normally breakout) and these were the only areas where I experienced the reaction. A few previous reviewers here said it helped their dermatitis, which I am prone to, so I thought this cleanser would be great for me. Overall, I found this cleanser really irritating and wouldn't recommend to anyone with overly-sensitive skin, like myself.

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Biotera - Shampoo
jbeans33 5/30/2006 9:12:00 PM
I tried out the color care shampoo and conditioner from Biotera. The smell was nice and the shampoo lathered up nicely. Unfortunatley, it left my fine/thin, color treated hair rather limp and felt as if it was "coated" with something. I think this is because of the cones in both products. I am realizing now that my hair really doesn't like cones at all and I am now in the process of trying to find a shampoo and conditioner that doesn't contain any (if anyone has any suggestions let me know). I think that this shampoo and conditioner would be better suited for someone with thicker hair that doesn't not get easily weighed down.

Shampoo -Matrix - color smart Protective Luminating System Shampoo
jbeans33 5/24/2006 3:51:00 PM
I decided to try this shampoo out after my friend (who also happens to be a cosmetologist) said she loves it. It may have worked well for her but, I hated this shampoo. I have very fine/thin, dry ends/oily roots, color-treated hair and it never seemed to fully clean my hair. I could never seem to get a good lather in the shower so I don't think it effectively cleaned my oily scalp. Every time I styled my hair after using this shampoo my hair was extremely flat and had absolutely no body at all. I completely agree with the previous reviewers that described their hair as feeling "dirty" after using this. Not worth the money at all. I plan on returning this to Ulta right away.

Moisturizers -Purpose - Redness Reducing Moisturizer with SPF 30
jbeans33 5/12/2006 5:44:00 PM
This is a pretty good moisturizer. I use about a pea size amount all over my face before applying my mmu. If you use any more than that your face will definitely feel and look greasy. It hasn't irritated my skin or broken me out at all. My only complaint would be that it doesn't do anything to reduce any of my facial redness. I have seborrheic dermatitis and when my skin is experiencing a flair, this lotion doesn't help reduce it at all. I'm still kinda on the fence as to whether I'd repurchase this or not. Unless I am to find something I like better I'd consider purchasing this again.

Scrubs -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Natural Facial Scrub
jbeans33 5/3/2006 4:35:00 PM
This product is definitely a winner in my book. It exfoliates my face effectively but, is gentle on my sensitive skin as well. Doesn't really smell all that minty to me. More like a fresh scent that is barely noticeable. I don't think it has really helped prevent or reduce any breakouts. However, it has not caused any. Overall, nicely priced scrub that I look forward to using a couple times a week :)

Masks -St. Ives - Mineral Clay Firming Masque
jbeans33 5/2/2006 11:03:00 PM
I used this mask several years ago and loved the results I got. Then for some odd reason I couldn't find it in the stores anymore, so I figured it got discontinued. Well, a couple of weeks ago I spotted it at my local Walmart and I purchased it remembering the good results I got from it years ago. Well, unfortunately the ingredients have been changed and it did NOT agree at all with my super sensitive skin. This mask made my skin itch like crazy and gave me little red bumps all over my face which I am still trying to get rid off ( a week and a half later!). My skin was looking pretty decent up until I used this stupid mask. If you have sensitive skin STAY AWAY FROM THIS MASK!!!!! I am going to be sticking with my QHMJM from now on.

Treatments -Zapzyt - 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Treatment Gel
jbeans33 3/27/2006 9:04:00 PM
I have sensitive, combo skin and tend to get cystic breakouts right around that time of the month and also from stress. I used this gel sparringly on some recent breakouts I was experiencing and they shrunk down a great deal over a few nights. My only gripe with this product is that it won't completely eliminate a breakout...it only shrinks it down. Since my skin is quite sensitive I only used this at night. I really wish this brand would create a 5% or even 2.5% formula for people like me who have sensitive skin because 10% BP is so drying. I'd recommend this as a spot treatment and not for the entire face since it is so strong.

Powder -Everyday Minerals - foundation semi-matte formula
jbeans33 3/27/2006 8:32:00 PM
After reading the great reviews on this mineral foundation I had to try this out for myself. I agree with all of the previous reviewers here. The only other mineral foundation I have tried is Monave, which I do like but, was kinda bored with it and wanted to experiment with another brand. The price was so cheap on the everyday minerals I figured that the quality might also be cheap. Not at all! It does a pretty decent job evening out my complexion and looks totally natural. It didn't completely control the oiliness of my skin but, it didn't make my skin look shiny at all either. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 is because the coverage is pretty sheer (which I like) however, if you have a blemish it doesn't fully cover it up. Oh well, I guess I will have to purchase one of the kits that comes with concealer and see if that helps.

Treatments -Desert Essence - Tea Tree Oil (100% Pure Australian)
jbeans33 3/9/2006 12:33:00 PM
I have been applying this as a spot treatment to a cystic-type breakout that popped up on my face about 4-5 days ago. This has definitely helped reduce the size and help speed up the healing time. My skin is sensitive and it has not caused any irritation. It can be a bit drying so, I just apply a tiny amount of jojoba oil after applying the TTO. It doesn't smell too great but, I'll deal with that because so far I am pleased with the results. Also, I use the TTO diluted in water since it is not recommended to use the full strength directly on skin. Definitely worth a try if your skin is sensitive and you are looking for a effective yet (somewhat) gentle way to help heal breakouts.

Moisturizers -Kiss My Face - Peaches and Creme moisturizer with AHA
jbeans33 3/5/2006 11:08:00 PM
Wouldn't recommend this for the face if you have sensitive skin like I do. I am left with a rather painful cystic-type breakout on my chin from using this stuff for a few days. I will only use this as a body lotion from now on. Thankfully, I didn't experience the cat pee smell many other reviewers complained about. Smells exactly like fresh peaches to me, not fake at all. Doubt I will repurchase since it isn't that impressive as a body lotion.

Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Foaming Facial Cleanser - Sensitive Skin
jbeans33 2/13/2006 1:31:00 PM
I have only been using this face wash for about a month but, so far I like it. I have used Purpose gentle cleansing wash for years and recently learned from this website that this cleanser contains the same exact ingredients. It works pretty much the same as purpose IMO. I like that you get more product for a cheaper price. It does a decent job when it comes to m/u removal. The only thing it doesn't remove so well is long-wearing eyeliner (but, the purpose cleanser didn't either). One thing I'm not so crazy about is the strong scent of this cleanser. Seems kinda weird to me that a cleanser marketed for sensitive skin would contain such a strong fragrance. However, my super sensitive skin has not become irritated by the scent in this face wash so, I can tolerate it. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who uses the Purpose cleanser since it works the same for a better price.

Shampoo -Regis - Design Line Olive Oil Shampoo
jbeans33 2/12/2006 9:18:00 PM
This shampoo does a good job cleansing my hair but it is way too drying. I figured it would be the exact opposite since it contains olive oil. Also, it is such a pain in the ass to comb through my hair after using this. I won't be repurchasing this shampoo.

Conditioner -Regis - Design Line Olive Oil Conditioner
jbeans33 2/12/2006 9:10:00 PM
One of my good friends who also happens to be a stylist turned me onto this conditioner. The scent is alright (it kinda annoyed me after a few months but, that's not that big of an issue) and it does a pretty good job moisturising my hair which is rather dry at the ends from heat styling and getting it colored. I also like that it doesn't weigh it down either since my hair is baby fine. I like this much better than the matching shampoo...which I find a bit too drying. I would recommend this conditioner to anyone that has color treated hair with dry ends.
