Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Denman - Classic Styling Brushes

Best. Brush. Ever. I have kinky-curly hair, so naturally I avoid brushes like the plague and stick with wide toothed combs. Unfortunately, the longer my hair got the more difficult it became to get all the shed hairs out of my hair after detangling, even with insane amounts of conditioner and water. By the time my hair hit my bra strap I knew I'd need something else to detangle with. Enter the denman brush. I'm not sure which version I got, but it's the one with nine rows (or maybe it has seven...?!). I use it in the shower after detangling with my comb to get the rest of my shed hairs out and it leaves my hair knot, tangle, and shed-hair free! On top of that it clumps my curls together so beautifully, it's like a dream (but it also causes my hair to shrink from below my armpits to my chin, so...) and helps my hair absorb my conditioners better, AND makes my conditioner lather up as well, so it's like I'm cowashing/deep conditioning my hair after shampooing. I'm so glad I bought it, and I plan on using denman brushes for as long as my hair will permit me to. :) Also, I got mine from Sally's for about $9.00, maybe a little less (my Beauty Supply card gave me a discount). So it's a worthwhile investment.

Lip Treatments -Vaseline - Cocoa Butter Lip Balm
rated 5 of 5
itsKelCeeEee 12/12/2012 8:53:00 PM

The little jar is so precious, and the product within the precious little jar is awesome. It's basically vaseline's vaseline with cocoa butter in a plastic mini container like its large counterpart. It leaves my lips soft and supple, better than any other lip treatment I've used. Plus, you only need a little to get the job done. I'll definitely rebuy this, because they're cheap and usually on sale at a ton of places.

I read these reviews laughing and going "Are they forreal?!" And then, I tried them for myself. ...You win, MUA. You win. And for the low price of free-ninety-nine, I can ALWAYS keep them on deck! *laughs maniacally*

Lip Gloss -Philosophy - Flavored Lip Shine Collection
rated 2 of 5
itsKelCeeEee 12/12/2012 8:40:00 PM

This sticky mess! I forgot that Philosophy is mainly for scent purposes as far as the lotions and stuff, I don't know why I was so surprised at the tacky texture. I ain't even mad though, because I got it from Nordstrom's on sale for six dollars so I just swipe some over my burt's bee's lip balm and call it something. It does (of course) smell nice. I got it in Mangos and Cream. Not rebuying, because for the quality I might as well have gone to Walgreen's and picked up a Lip-smacker's.

Shampoo -Yes To Carrots - Nourishing Shampoo
rated 3 of 5
itsKelCeeEee 12/12/2012 8:32:00 PM

This shampoo is very basic. That being said, it cleaned my scalp without overly drying out my hair, and that's all I can ask for as far as a shampoo goes. And with THAT being said, I can get a shampoo that does that for much cheaper, so I probably won't rebuy this after I finish the bottle off. The conditioner's bomb.com, tho...

Styling Products -Shea Moisture - Organic Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk
rated 5 of 5
itsKelCeeEee 12/12/2012 8:21:00 PM

I can't believe I'm the only one so far who adores this milk. This has got to be one of (if not THE one) my favorite leave-ins ever to grace the planet. SM's Curl & Style Milk is the only hair milk I've ever had success with. ONLY. They usually leave my hair sticky and tacky feeling, and they're just messy and pointless. This is a completely different story. It leaves my hair moisturized and soft, as well as defines my curls (a bonus since I didn't buy it for that purpose). However, there are some time periods where I can't use this, such as when I'm using SM's Curl Enhancing Smoothie. This might also apply to some up here who haven't had success using them in conjunction. If your hair is protein sensitive (like mine), using both products at the same time can dry your hair out. Both products contain silk protein along with coconut oil (coconut oil isn't a protein, but it CAN make hair hard if you use too much of it) so it just makes for more chances to get hard, dry hair. If I use the milk, I won't use the smoothie and vice versa. Also, I use the milk on damp hair. If I use it on wet hair it leaves my hair feeling all squeaky and I hate that. If I use it on dry hair I feel like it's not absorbed as much and to me that's a waste of product...so damp is the way to go. It might sound dumb, but that's what works for me and it leaves my hair in wonderful condition, so whatever. But yeah, I highly recommend it if you have thick, coarse, dry hair. Just watch out if your hair doesn't like a lot of protein.

Treatments -Shea Moisture - Reconstructive Elixir
rated 5 of 5
itsKelCeeEee 12/12/2012 7:57:00 PM

I'm actually on my second bottle now, and I love it. The first time I bought this "elixir" I was curious as to what...exactly...it...did. The ingredients are wonderful (Argan oil, my #1 side chick is third on the list and ya'll KNOW how expensive that oil is), the spray is very rich and VERY potent (I have enough hair on my head for two people easily and I don't need more than 3-4 sprays with each use), and I surprisingly adore the smell (even though I hate the scent in this line's conditioners). Although I'm not fond of the price, I can't complain because this bottle lasts a long time (I probably use it when styling my wet hair about 2x a week) and it's good quality, so no docked points for that. The only thing I wanted to take a lippy of for has to o with that simple question: What does this oil exactly do? I thought the answer was "nothing" and got ready to add it to my never again list. This answer (for me) was the wrong one, because as soon as I ran out and didn't rebuy I noticed my hair seemed drier than usual, and wasn't as soft and bouncy. My hair also didn't hold moisture as well as when I'd sealed my leave-ins with this, and as soon as I bought this again and used it the difference was crazy. This had been helping my hair improve all along and I didn't even notice! So, yeah, needless to say, this remains in my hair arsenal for as long as it's on them Target shelves.

Conditioner -Clairol - Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship
rated 4 of 5
itsKelCeeEee 11/12/2012 10:28:00 AM

I purchased LTR because I needed to stock up on conditioner and I wanted a silicone one for easier detangling. The packaging, the colors, the words, the SMELL...I was (am) a complete sucker for it. Plus I liked that it's for "long hair" (even though most the formulations are the same minus 2-3 ingredients in the HE lines). I'm trying to grow my medium length hair out and this seemed like a good product to try. It was $4.79 for the regular sized bottle at Rite Aid, and you could probably find it even cheaper in other stores. Now, getting this was a gamble for me because I've tried Hello Hydration and None of your Frizzness conditioners and they both broke me out. I tried everything to avoid that issue too, so don't try and play me like I don't know how to wash my face after I condition, I'm not simple. I figured that I used to wash my hair a lot more frequently and maybe if I rotated this conditioner with others and only used it every couple weeks I'd be fine. I've used this conditioner twice and that plan's worked fabulously with no zits (so far). As for results...LTR leaves my hair with beautiful moisture and a lovely scent that fades slowly enough where I can still appreciate the smell and quick enough where it's not overpowering. The moisture it provides is very non-chemically feeling (my worst fear of silicone conditioners) and as long as my face stays clear I'll consider this a worthwhile investment. Also, my hair does feel smoother and my usually coarse/frizzy ends felt a lot softer. Cute. :)

Conditioner -Dove - Damage Therapy Conditioner Intensive Repair
rated 3 of 5
itsKelCeeEee 11/7/2012 5:13:00 PM

It's a nice, cheap conditioner that does what it says it'll do. Because my hair's so used to my boujie natural products and silicone/sulfate free regimes however, it made my scalp itch really badly. That whole "shampoo the roots condition the ends" things doesn't work for me because I use conditioner to comb through my hair and my roots get tangled really easily. Therefore, since I can't use this without worrying about my scalp going crazy, this isn't the product for me :(

Shampoo -L'Oreal - EverCreme Nourishing Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
itsKelCeeEee 11/7/2012 4:56:00 PM

My second favorite shampoo behind my SheaMoisture Moisture Retention Shampoo. It's creamy, it makes a nice lather, it cleans my scalp while gently cleansing my hair, and it smells wonderful, like vanilla (think Bath & Body Works Vanilla Sugar). I originally used the intense nourishing moisture one but it has a silicone so I switched to this. My hair literally noticed no difference and I get just as wonderful results with this as I did the other one. Will definitely (and already have multiple times) repurchase.

Conditioner -The Body Shop - Banana Nourishing Conditioner
rated 2 of 5
itsKelCeeEee 10/19/2012 2:47:00 AM

I was looking forward to trying this conditioner since I'd heard wonderful things about what bananas can do for hair and it's the second ingredient, but sadly it didn't do much for my hair. Didn't offer any conditioning properties, didn't help me comb my hair in the shower...it made my hair feel more tangled than when I'd shampooed it! Now I just mix it with whatever other really good conditioner I use so I can finish off the bottle, as it works great with my other conditioners. Just not on its own. For that, I won't be repurchasing.

Moisturizers -Vaseline - Petroleum Jelly
rated 5 of 5
itsKelCeeEee 9/5/2012 12:48:00 AM

Ehrmagerdddd vaseline is so brilliant! I use it to remove my makeup. I use it at night on my feet with a pair of socks to keep my toesies smooth. I use it on my lips to restore their softness. I use it for my cuticles. My eyelashes for growth. And it costs a good 3 dollars, 4 at the most. It certainly is a miracle product. I will say that the main thing to look out for is if you have oily skin. I have combo skin that leans towards oily in the summer so I always make sure to wash my face well after using it to remove my makeup, and I definitely make sure not to get a bunch of vaseline around my lipline (I'm blackhead prone in that area). I haven't had any breakouts though so it just depends on the person. There's a reason every grandma has this in their bathroom/on their dresser; it works. I will definitely repurchase.

Foundations -Cover Girl - Covergirl and Olay Tone Rehab 2 in 1 Foundation
rated 3 of 5
itsKelCeeEee 9/4/2012 5:49:00 PM

I like it, but I wouldn't repurchase it. It has a nice shade selection, and I picked "tawny"; I have to admit I'm impressed by how well it blends with my skin tone (I can be jaded about drugstore shades and how hard it is to match to my skin tone). It's a light/light-medium coverage, and since I have combo/oily skin and this has a serum in it I don't need a moisturizer underneath. My main thing, which is what a lot of people have already stated, is the oily factor in this. I can't complain because it doesn't say anything about combating oil as a purpose, but it really is a dealbreaker for me since halfway through the day my face gets way more shiny looking than I prefer (even when I put on oil absorbing powder as a finish afterwards). If I wear a moisturizer underneath it makes my face look dirty as well. Since I wear sunscreen everyday and this makes it hard for me to do that, it's a dealbreaker. However, winter is coming, so this may work for the months where the air is drier. Still though, I'd rather not rebuy this.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Lustrasilk Shea Butter Cholesterol Plus
rated 1 of 5
itsKelCeeEee 8/22/2012 2:47:00 AM

UGH I was so upset by how this didn't work for me! I saw it as a popular, low cost deep treatment option (according to like every deep treatment obsessed natural I came across) and got it for not even three dollars. I was so excited about the prospect of a cheap deep conditioner that I wouldn't have to order online that I tried everything I could think of to make it work. Unfortunately I'm in the minority with this because my hair just despises it. Hates the consistency, seems to pucker up just from putting it on, leaves my hair strawlike...disappointing. However, I will say that I have highly porous hair that doesn't need much (if any) protein, and the cholestorol in this is a big indicator of its protein properties. Still though, I thought some honey and oils could add some sort of hope! I'd still suggest to try it, especially if you have coarse, dry, and/or damaged hair. But be aware of how your hair responds to protein excess.

Conditioner -Jessicurl - Weekly Deep Conditioning Treatment
rated 4 of 5
itsKelCeeEee 6/18/2012 12:43:00 PM

My favorite deep conditioner. I just hate that you can't get it on the ground (at least not that I know of) because shipping changes it from 16.95 (which I already think is a little absurd) to 22.95 or some mess like that. I enjoy how moisturizing it is, and how it lasts awhile since you don't need much to cover your hair. I deep condition every week in the winter and every few weeks in the summer, so needless to say I buy it more in the winter than I do hotter months. It's protein free, which is probably my favorite thing about it, and I get it in the Island Fantasy scent. I took off a lippie because not being able to get it "on the ground" is a huge issue for me.
