Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Clump Crusher mascara
rated 4 of 5

It is a good basic mascara, nothing fancy. It doesn't clump or flake, it gives decent volume and separation. It is not the best i've had though. If you want volume you have to apply at least three coats, and fast because it will dry and then you will be left with a bad case of spider lashes. I also took the brown/black (i have green eyes)for a softer look. Also it is waterproof and a bit hard to remove even with an eye makeup remover that removes waterproof mascara...So I won't repurchase but in the time being, i will use it as a good, everyday mascara.

Moisturizers -Vaseline - Petroleum Jelly

I was quite reluctant to use this as a moisturizer, since it's not a moisturizer. But I have to say, I use it on my face during the harsh canadian winter days, and it prevents my skin from getting dry, flaky and red. It doesn't make my combination skin oily, and makeup stays well on top of it. Also, it doesn't make me breakout (and I am prone to breakouts) I also use it to contour my hairline around the face and neck when I dye my hair at home, to prevent stains. If you live under cold cold climates, use it as a face, lips and hands moisturizer.

Gels/Soaps -Weleda - Calendula Soap
rated 5 of 5
icarle 1/25/2013 3:42:00 PM

Pros: cleanses well without stripping all of the oils of the skin, lightly scented, rinses off very well, can be used for body and hair (i'm speaking of babies of course) lasts a long time, doesn't cause any rashes or dry skin, does not contain any harmful chemicals, dyes or fragrances. Cons: 9$ soap. If you want to use it for the whole family, it can be expensive compared to Dove or other brands. So if you are budget-conscious, i suggest you keep this soap for baby only ;)

Cleansers -Weleda - Baby Calendula Cleanser and Shampoo
rated 5 of 5

I used it for my eldest daughter when she was a baby. She had skin problems such as mild exzema and rashes, it worked great. I now use it for my second daughter, who is currently 5 month-old, and it still is the best baby product i've used. I pretty much have the whole Weleda baby care line (the massage oil, the calendula cream, the bar soap and the cleanser) and i wouldn't switch to any of those crappy generic products such as aveeno and mustela, who claim they are good for your baby but contains tons of harmful chemicals, perfumes and dyes...It's a bit expensive but it lasts quite a while, especially since i don't give my baby a bath everyday but more every three days (a baby is not dirty....lol) It leaves baby's skin and hair soft, the scent is very light, it rinses very well and i had NO issues of rashes or redness, even on very sensitive skin (face, bottom, etc) Definitely recommend to new mommies!

Eyeliner -Essence - Liquid Eyeliner
rated 2 of 5

First of all, I am an eyeliner girl. I use eyeliner everyday. So I can safely say that I am an expert. I can draw a perfect line with gel eyeliner, liquid, pencil and so on. Now this eyeliner is dirt cheap, it stays on all day BUT it is not easy to apply. The tip is not sharp, it's kind of a weird shape, like flat and sharp at the same time....Difficult to describe if you don't own one, but trust me, if you're not an expert, you will have difficulties drawing a thin line, especially towards the inner corner of your eye. When I use it, I end up with a much bigger line that i'm accustomed to and it looks really fake. So i won't repurchase. I was looking for a cheaper alternative to the Stila one but so far, no luck.

Treatments -L'Oreal - EverCreme Deep Nourishing Masque
rated 4 of 5
icarle 1/16/2013 9:15:00 AM

I like it. I am not using the shampoo though, so I used it with my regular shampoo. It smells great and rinses off quickly. But I agree that less is more with that conditionner: first time I used it it weighed down my hair and made them look greasy the next day. Also, I will use it outside the shower and leave it on for 10-15minutes for deeper conditioning. My hair is dry from lots of dye jobs over the last years (blonde from brown and vice versa) and this mask gives me smooth, shiny hair. I don't like jars either, because you tend to use too much product AND get water in it.

Hair Color -Garnier - Olia
rated 3 of 5

I'm on the fence...There are pros and cons. Pros: no chemical smell, rinses off really quickly (the water was clear after 1 minute) the gloves are really good, the color is true to the box (in my case Dark brown 40) and the staying power is good (i wash my hair everyday and it's been 2 weeks, my color is unchanged) Cons: drips a lot, bottle is round and awkward, I did my roots first because they were slightly lighter, but they came off reddish brown, with the rest of my hair dark brown. I don't know why it did this, it never happened to me with dark browns. My natural color is very ashy and I pull dark browns very well (meaning very cool, which is my goal) so maybe i should have gone with soft black. I've heard that some girls chose soft black instead of dark brown to avoid any red. The conditioner is not very good: i suggest using your own if you have a HG. So 3 lippies out of 5....More like 2.5. Maybe i will purchase in soft black, but more likely i will go back to another product.

BB Cream -Skin79 - Super+ BB Cream Gold Label
rated 4 of 5
icarle 1/2/2013 11:21:00 AM

A friend bought the pink version, but following the MUA reviews, I decided to get the gold one. My skin is oily/combination but i do live in Canada and my skin tends to get dryer with the cold weather. After moisturizing, I use the BB cream, then a concealer and a setting powder. The BB cream gives a very nice glow, and makes my complexion even. I still have to blot my T-zone after a few hours but EVERY product does that to me, so I'm not concerned about it. I took off a lippie because there is a slight greyish cast to it, so be careful and use a very small amount. But overall, it is the best BB cream I've used. happy! =)

Conditioner -L'Oreal - EverSleek Intense Smooth Conditioner
rated 2 of 5
icarle 12/24/2012 6:25:00 AM

I don't really think this conditioner is special. The smell is strong (but not entirely unpleasant) and i didn't noticed any real improvement in my hair. No added shine, nothing in particular. I am gonna finish the tube but i won't repurchase.

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
rated 4 of 5
icarle 12/18/2012 12:11:00 PM

The color is pretty on my medium/golden complexion, it applies easily and stays all day long. I have a big kabuki brush and I find that one sweep is enough. It's a little shimmery though, which can look unnatural under certain lights. I think I might go with a pink version of this blush for the winter. The golden/orange shade is better for the summer. It's pricey though and not really special, I've tried other blushes in cheaper brands with similar results...

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Concealer Kit
rated 2 of 5
icarle 12/18/2012 12:06:00 PM

bleh...I guess my search for the perfect concealer isn't over yet. I too was convinved by a salesperson. I don't use the powder because it looks too cakey (powder on fine lines???hellooo) and I use an Yves Rocher concealer brush. The texture is very thick, you don't need a lot, and the coverage is very buildable. It remains me of stage makeup. I use it only under my eyes because it doesn't really work on blemishes or scars which sucks. It provides decent dark circle coverage but for the price, i think i can find better. I actually used a maybelline mineral one for years before they discontinued it and it was FAR better... Disappointed, won't repurchase.

Moisturizers -Sukin - Facial Moisturiser
rated 5 of 5
icarle 12/17/2012 7:33:00 PM

This is an AMAZING moisturizer. I cannot believe I didn't know about it! I have combination skin with an oily t-zone, tendency to breakout, and some dry patches on the cheeks (i also live in Canada, so the dryness is worse during winter months) I use Laventine Olive forte morning and night to wash my face. Onto the review: the smell is kinda weird but pleasant, i love the pump, and the texture of the lotion is very light, more like a fluid, but its power is great. Not only did my dry patches disappeared after three uses, but my t-zone also disappeared: my skin is smooth and even, my makeup holds much better and it did not cause any breakouts! It's a WINNER....And for 10$ at canadavitaminshop, it's a steal........Go try it, you won't be disappointed!!!

Mascara -Essence - get big lashes volume boost mascara

4$ mascara that works miracles? No. 4$ mascara that does the job? YES. Few clumps if you wipe the brush at first, buildable for volume, good hold throughout the day. Overall, good one.

Scrubs -St. Ives - Apricot Scrub Blemish and Blackhead Control
rated 5 of 5
icarle 7/19/2012 9:03:00 AM

I've tried many many scrubs over the years, the latest being a Nuxe one that cost me 30$ and honestly i don't understand why i do that. For 7$CA i get the best scrub on the market. Someone should pound me on the head everytime i wanna try out something else.... I exfoliate 2-3 times a week, i have combination/oily skin and the occasional pimple. It takes care of everything and makes my skin smooth, even, glowing. Really, you cannot go wrong.

Eye Shadow -Marcelle - Wet & Dry Eyeshadow Quad in Urban Chic
rated 3 of 5

I am reviewing the "tropics" shade. I was seduced by the pale gold and the greens, but it is very very subtle and not very pigmented... Although the colors are pretty and hold well, they are so subtle you can barely tell they're here....lol So it's not really interesting for me...I won't repurc hase, at least not this shade.
