Cleansers -DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil
hippiepippie 8/13/2011 10:22:00 PM
I am really very pleased with this oil .. I used Precleanse (by Dermalogica) before, but this is MUCH better .. and for 1/3 of the price! The only bad thing I have to say about this (and unfortunately it's not a little bad thing, but big) is that it stings my eyes BADLY. Not during the wash, not immediately after -- but some five-to-ten minutes after, my eyes are dry and stinging and burning like crazy .. and this has never happened before; not with Precleanse, not with the baby oil I used in between these two oils .. So far I've solved the problem by rinsing my eyes with eye drops directly after washing the oil off; it helps some but not completely. I really like this oil and think the world of it, but at the same time I don't feel comfortable with possibly putting my eyes to risk .. Two lippies off for that. I will repurchase if I find a good solution to the stinging problem. EDIT: Problem solved! Before I use this oil I take some baby oil on my fingers and rub my eyes (and make sure to open my eyes, so that some of the oil can get in). After that (all black and messed up ;) ), I apply this oil, rub it all around my eyes, face and neck and wash off as usual! No stinging or burning eyes, no baby oil left, nothing! Problem really solved! Although, still one lippie off for the extra fuss. 2ND EDIT: I've stopped using this cleanser, and won't repurchase. The extra fuss made me realize that I could go back to my prior cleansing products, 'cause it was the same amout of job as baby oil + this oil. Also, I started to break out like crazy, with these deep, painful .. well, boils! I have very dry skin so I have problems related to that, but I've never had problems with any type of acne before. The boils are almost completely gone now, thank god! (Two lippies; four before.)

Blush -MAC - So Sweet, So Easy
hippiepippie 8/1/2011 7:36:00 PM
I recently "discovered" this blush in my collection. For SOO long I have been trying to find the perfect cool pink blush for my NW15 skin .. And at first, this was just another disappointment-- but different in that way that it didn't show up enough (other blushes either showed up too much or in the wrong color, or both). But a couple of weeks ago, an idea dawned on me: What if I layer this? And I did. Boy, oh, boy! There was my dream blush, the cool pink loveliness I had been looking for so long! Now this is the only blush I use (and I own tons of them, believe you me .. 4--5 other MAC cream blushes, 7 NARS powder ones, among others). I don't need any other blush! I either put on two good layer of this, or three thinner layers, and off I go! Will DEFINITELY buy again when I run out. I apply it with my #168 MAC stippling brush.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Lip Lacquer in Chelsea Girls
hippiepippie 7/19/2011 6:42:00 PM
Well, this was a disappointment. I was so happy when I got a hold of this on eBay, only to discover that it's is too thick on application and gives me J.Lo-lips. I never wanted J.Lo-lips! I wanted a creamy, natural-looking, shiny lip gloss with no shimmer, and all I got was this sticky, lousy stuff .. And yes, the smell IS really awful. I kind of didn't believe it when I read the other reviews, but it really does smell like old lipstick .. or maybe a rotten (dead) cat. Although, I really do like the packaging, I think it's elegant .. I really don't care about germs and stuff: it's my finger and my lips. (Will not repurchase.)

Fragrances -Chopard - Casmir by Chopard
hippiepippie 7/14/2011 7:21:00 PM
Okay, so maybe I didn't expect this to become a fave and compete with my other faves (Shalimar, Tabu and Angel), but come on .. THIS bad? I bought a mini bottle of Casmir off of eBay and have tried it on maybe eight or nine times over a period of two months, every time (except the first :) ) giving it another chance .. but no, this just doesn't do it for me. It opens very (very!) sharp, with this almost repulsive and offending blend of sweet, fruity notes. The smell comes out so strong that I usually panic and imagine myself staying at home (wouldn't wanna be held responsible for allergic reactions, headaches or something), and there have been times where I would panic to the extent of wiping it off. This phase lasts a good half an hour on me, maybe more. I don't get much of the middle notes (which supposedly are mandarin orange, carnation and cinnamon), instead Casmir dries down to .. well, a sweet, indistinct smell of almost nothing. I really can't tell what the base notes smell like on me. The smell is faint and generic, all I can tell is that it's sweet. So, I'm done with trying to like this perfume. Fine, I'll keep it, but I won't use it -- ever again.

Polishes -OPI - Girls Just Want To Play Holiday 08
hippiepippie 7/13/2011 9:03:00 PM
This is my to-go polish. Every time that I'm in a hurry but can't leave home without polished nails (twice just these past couple of weeks), this baby saves my day. It's not my favorite color, far from even my favorite red, but this loyal friend can do with just ONE layer. No streaking, no muss, no fuss -- it just gives a great, even, red color. When in a hurry: one layer OPI NNS, one layer of this, and one layer of Seche Vite, and I'm off, saved by this baby! It almost makes me sad (haha) to NOT have this as a favorite red, 'cause it's always there for me and I can always rely on it. I guess I feel I don't appreciate it enough!

Fragrances -Giorgio Beverly Hills - Red

Oh my God. Terrible, terrible, terrible! Absolutely the most sickly sweet smell I have EVER smelled. Just like rotting fruit .. or fruit already dead and full-rotted and in hell. I love Tabu (one of my top five favorite fragrances), but Red I just can't stand. I can't. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing this.

Blush -MAC - blushcreme ladyblush
hippiepippie 11/19/2010 9:10:00 AM
Unfortunately this blush was a HUGE disappointment to me. I guess I must be the girl with the coolest skin tone ever, 'cause on me this blush turns completely and utterly PEACH. No pink, no rosy, no nothing except peach, peach, peach. And sadly, I HATE peach blush. Don't know what I'll do with this one. I wanted a cool pink color with some shimmer/dewiness, and I all got was this lousy peach (lol). I'm sad. PS. I have very dry skin and for me the formula of this blush was perfect. Even some cream blushes are too dry for me (Jelly Pong Pong), but not this. But the peach, the peach! :/ Would buy again, but NOT this color.

Polishes -China Glaze - Ingrid
hippiepippie 7/30/2010 6:53:00 PM
This polish surprised me, but unfortunately not in a good way. Not only was it thick and gooey, which I couldn't have foreseen, but the color wasn't allt that either. Maybe I had too high expectations, but it was like: boring brownish taupe with golden/bronze shimmer. Okay. The shimmer doesn't even come ouy on my nails. This could have been so good, but nooo. I love taupe colors like You Don't Know Jacques, Over the taupe, Color Club Khaki and so on. I just don't love this one. I will not buy this again. In fact, I've put my bottle (used once) up for swap. I guess that says it all.

Fragrances -Guerlain - Shalimar
hippiepippie 7/30/2010 6:42:00 PM
PERFUME HEAVEN!!! I am a lover of Tabu, Giorgio Beverly Hills and Coco Chanel, and I'd say that Shalimar fits very well in on that list. I simply ADORE it and I swear that I become almost teary-eyed when I smell a whiff of this on me during the day. Funny though, when I first tried this I didn't get it at all. What was so special about Shalimar? A month or so later I tried it again, and my God -- what? Where was my nose before? My birthday is in october, and this will be my gift. A bottle of Shalimar, from me to me. PS. Eau de parfume, of course. My super dry skin doesn't hold on to anything else.

Oh, God. No. No, no, no! Tabu - yes. Shalimar - yes. Coco Chanel - yes. Giorgio Beverly Hills - yes. Mitsouko - NOOOO. The absolute REAK of this perfume surprised me. It smells of something I can't put a name on. Maybe a dead animal? A sad, sad surprise.

Fragrances -Guerlain - Eau de Shalimar
hippiepippie 6/15/2010 10:04:00 AM
I absolutely adore the smell of this perfume, and so does my boyfriend. I wear it every day, and every day he tells me how lovely I smell. :) My only regret is that it doesn't last on my super dry skin. It's completely gone after two hours and has to be sprayed on again. And also, because of its short "life" on my skin, I just get the top notes and a whiff of the heart notes, and that's that. But to my surprise, I really do love the citrusy top notes! The smell is all and all light compared to my rest-of-the-year-perfume-regimen, containing amongst others Giorgio Beverly Hills, Tabu and Coco Chanel. I will use this a a summer perfume, and it's quite possible that I buy a new bottle next year - as I most certainly will use up the whole bottle this summer. ;) (Normally, I immediately dismiss perfumes that don't last, so this is an exception. But two lippies off for that.)

Fragrances -Annick Goutal - Myrrhe Ardente
hippiepippie 5/24/2010 1:08:00 PM
My dear God! The stench!!! I would never, ever, EVER in a million years wear this perfume again. I bought it off of eBay, three samples for a couple of bucks .. The horror when I tried it on! It smells a LOT worse than the greenest Wunderbaum ever .. I'm still in shock. This doesn't even deserve to be called perfume. It's more of an abomination!

Fragrances -Chanel - No.5
hippiepippie 4/30/2010 8:35:00 AM
To my utterly HUGE disappointment, this scent just doesn't work on my skin. The smell turns out somewhat flowery, but most really, really SOAPY. I am very disappointed 'cause I had imagined this to be mine "THE perfume" .. but I'll manage. Will not buy again.

Fragrances -Giorgio Beverly Hills - Giorgio
hippiepippie 4/9/2010 11:32:00 AM
Honestly, I don't understand why this perfume has gotten such bad reviews .. I love, love, love it!!! Sure, it is strong and the top notes are quiet sharp - but I love it excatly because it's strong (and the top notes fade qiuckly). Giorgio soon dries down to this wonderful, spicy, warm, woody, somewhat floral scent .. I don't love this perfume mainly because it's floral (I don't get much of that), I love it because of the deep, woody, sandalwood/amber/moss base notes .. I just recently discovered this perfume (after stopping this wonderfully-smelling woman at my university in the ladies room, lol) and ordered it right away off of eBay .. My, oh, my! Thank god I asked her!!! Edit: And, one more thing: Not many perfumes "stick" on my super dry skin (not even Chanel #5!!!), but this lasts almost all day. For me, it's wonderful! There is hope left, even for me! :)

Mascara -Lancome - Courbe Virtuose (Divine Lasting Curves)
hippiepippie 4/9/2010 10:46:00 AM
Divine lasting curves my ***!!! This mascara does nothing. It doesn't give any curve, any length or any volume to my lashes. Terrible, terrible - a total waste of my money! Would not (NOT!!!) buy again. Ever! (And, also, I think the brush is horrible. It's thick, so the mascara ends up everywhere, and the shape of it makes it difficult to handle .. so it ends up everywhere.)
