Ugh.... I love this stuff! it feels like how every balm should.. not waxy, not like a body lotion, not a gloss. it literally feels nice like theres nothing on my lips. i tried on 12 lipsticks, and consectutively wiped each off, and my lips were burning. Putting this on completely undid all the damage I did. I can't afford this right now, but it feels so pleasant. I know though that the amount is so small for the price. but honestly, it feels SO good! And for those who don't like that it doesn't have a color, i like that it doesnt... because its a balm, you're supposed to be able to put whatever you want on top. realistically this should get a 4 because of the packaging and the cost of money, but i'm too smitten with it right now.

Blush -Chanel - Joues Contraste in Espiegle

Love this! This blush is for many different shades, i'm medium olive toned and this comes up so beautifully. i know it looks orange in the pan but it comes out to be a pretty soft apricot. It looks gorgeous for spring and summer with a nice tan. the only problem is that the color does fade during the day on me, but i also put very litltle because i like only a hint of color. it also has a nice floral scent. this would work on pale skin as well as my skin. i don't know if it will show up on dark skin, but maybe you just need to put more than usual.

Liquid -Chanel - Vitalumiere Aqua

This gave a nice powder good coverage finish. I would have liked if there was more yellow in this foundation. but chanel isn't exactly geared to Asian or yellow skin tones. I am neutral but I think this had more pink in it. You could tell I was wearing make up but I looked nice, just a little pale. I would wear this going out but not for everyday because it isn't my personality too look so done up. I like looking natural and radiant. I didn't get too oily in this too, but I felt a little dull in this foundation. My friend who is a shade lighter is in love with it though, so its really your make up philosophy that makes or breaks the product.

Crème -Chantecaille - Future Skin

This is a very unique foundation. Some foundations give a powdery finish, some oily, some very sheer. when someone says it looks natural usually the foundation is very sheer and impurities can be seen through the foundation. this foundation literally mimics the texture of skin! It's very nature, it lasts, and it has great buildable coverage. it is lightly too dark for me and I'm trying to figure out if it broke me out or if all the other things i tried recently broke me out but if i can isolate the breaking out and it wasn't the foundation then this is great. It is expensive, too expensive for my taste, so iI was going to switch it up back and forth with my young blood mineral make up. a little goes a long way with this. and its actually better to use the small concealer brush to apply the foundation instead of a normal brush. It's great. I think a lot of negative reviews are of people nitpicking the product because of how expensive it is they want to find reasons for it to be not worth the price. I do not enjoy the price, but it is a good product regardless. I gave it a 4 because i dont know if its breaking me out, the packaging is SO unhygenic... wth, and the color isn't super perfect. but its better than the majority of brands in my opinion.

Makeup Brushes -The Body Shop - Mineral Foundation Brush
rated 4 of 5

wow, i'm so glad make up alley exists. I would have never given this brush a chance. i'm a brand snob especially when it comes to my brushes. this is a really good brush and I think i spent only 25 on it. yes its synethetic, but it gave my young blood foundation a fabulous finish and it gave me the ability to build my coverage. its very soft unlike the bare escentuals brushes. It's not a HG brush because i wish it was denser, but for the price it is amazing. if you don't need thick coverage this is your go to brush! I said no to rebuying the brush because i take good care of my brushes and i never have to repurchase them

Foundations -Youngblood - Natural Mineral Foundation

Move out of the way Bare Escentuals! While I think Bare escentuals has a broader range of blushers and eyeshadows etc. No mineral make up company can touch this brand. I"ve tried every mineral make up. Nothing compares. I would go through BE within 2 months. This will last a long time becuase a little product goes a hell of a long way. I returned the youngblood brush unused and on a whim went for the body shop to based on reviews and it gave a really nice finish. I buy this from henri bendels. I get 25% coupons there so I rather buy it there than from ybskin.com. This foundation has completely different undertones than BE. I literally look like i'm on the jersey shore cast when I wear BE. I would have to mix colors during the summer and it still would not match me properly.. not that i really realized it until people kept asking me if i was wearing orange bronzer.... -.- You get a lot of product in the container and its easier to store since its so flat. they have colors for all undertones, and nothing extreme. I look super natural and flawless and my skin loves it. AND OILY GIRLS READ ON!!! for the first time in my life I am NOT oily after 2 hours, not after 4 hours, not after 10 hours!!!! I did my olay toner, la mer oil free gel (sample), theBalm primer, young blood rice setting powder, then buffed on mineral powder, and then more rice powder. i never had to touch my powder all day!!!!!!!!!! this has never happened before! I've spent money on foundation from 12 dollars to 250 dollars, and i've never not been oily. It's super fast to put on too. I chose four lippies because of the price and because i wish the container was prettier, but the mineral powder i would rate a solid 4.5 if i could. The name is wierd I know, but seriously try this, you won't be dissapointed.

Concealers -Kat Von D - Tattoo Concealer
rated 5 of 5
he11ogorgeous 4/3/2011 11:24:00 PM

Wow..... this has already hit HG status. I don't care for Kat Von D. I'll be honest, I don't care for her one bit and I also thought it was rediculous that she was given her own make up line because i strongly dislike her makeup. Therefore I never gave her make up a first look. WITH that said, I was very skeptical when a really nice Sephora lady reccommended this concealer for under my eyes (I did not ask for face concealer so this reivew is strictly for under eye). It took a couple of color swipes to find my color, Tan. I've been studying science all my life so I literally look like I fell on my face everyday and a textbook broke my fall under my eye and left huge bruises. I've tried every concealer and combination from laura mercier, becca, nars, youngblood, chanel, dior, cover fx, theBalm, bobbi brown, etc. and I know a lot of companies are reformuating their products and in the past three weeks I tried the new formulations of the same brands that failed me.. and they still did. IF you want a concealer that will not look thick, will block out the blue/purple under your eyes, that can look decently natural, and stay on all day... this is your concealer. It is the best I've ever tried. Yes it's 25 dollars, but I only use it under my eyes and a little goes a long way so the tube should last me a life time. I like cute, classy packaging and this doesn't suit my fancy but the stuff inside the tube works amazingly. Use with your fingers OR my favorite use with the Sephora Air Concealer brush. I'm in love.

Palettes -Laura Mercier - Eye and Cheek Silk Road
rated 5 of 5
he11ogorgeous 2/27/2011 1:17:00 PM

WOW! Usually I can never buy a palette because I am neither White, Black, or Asian so I can never fit perfectly into a palette. Maybe two colors out of 7 in a palette may work for me. I always thought the palette was pretty, but that it would be overrated. All that cynicism aside, EVERY color worked on me! The blushes, according to the sales associate work better blended together. I think this is the biggest problem people who don't know about this are having. The colors separately aren't dazzling, but either mixing the two, or my favorite, putting persian rose then the palace pink as a high lighter looks amazing. I think this is what nars tried to do with their torrid blush. This is more blendable and looks identical in the pan. Also I think another turn off for people was the regal violet. I've heard that people don't like that they can't use this everyday.... I think this palette is amazing BCUZ it offers looks for everyday, definately looks for work, AND to go out, that you don't need to use every color at once to make a palette good. Another thing about this color is that its great if its just a pinch in the crease, or for everyday, as a liner, its beautiful if you also tightline with a cake liner. I used all of the colors for a great day/office/ sweet date look. I went lightly with the two blushes, then golden sands all over, lavender silk in crease, rare taupe in crease and regal violet as a dry liner with smudge brush. Another mistake people are doing is WETTING EYESHADOWS AS LINER! THIS IS A NO! And for people who disagree, every national LM make up artist I have met as said this as well as knowledgeable associates of this brand. Yes it could work, but its not designed to be wet. Cake liner yes. Eye shadow no. It is meant to be used dry with the smudge brush. So when you read a review keep it mind a product may not be rated correctly simply because the rater did not know how to use it. :) happy makeuping and for reference i'm a 4.5 warm natural in BB and basically medium beige in BE. I said I wouldn't buy this palette again because I don't think I will finish this, but I wish she made this permanent so I could in a couple of years after these get old! I did use this with a eyeshadow base so I'm not sure how well it would last but I know that with my base it did not budge. Did not leave me looking like a disco ball neither! I've never gotten SO many compliments from men when I wear this. They always say "I look very pretty today" but the colors are so subtle they don't know whats different!!
