Makeup Brushes -MAC - #217 Blending
goodthings 1/23/2006 3:40:00 AM
I bought this brush based on the reviews here (even though I didn't know what it was for!), and because it was one of the cheaper eye makeup brushes from MAC. (What reasons!) Some reviewers said they used it for blending only, while many applied eye makeup with it. I couldn't imagine applying eye makeup with it, since it was so fluffy and big! Hence, I first learned how to use it as a blending brush. I would apply eyeshadow with my MAC 239, and then I would blend the edges with this one. Even then, I was already happy with the brush, and found it valuable since I used it every time I applied makeup. For it's blending capability alone I would already have given this five lippies. Now that I have learned how to use it for applying eyeshadow, this brush has definitely jumped into permanent-can't-do-without-it-HG territory! With it, I can apply eyeshadow almost completely blended already. It's also effective for a diffused crease. What a great, multi-purpose brush! :)

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #187 Duo Fiber Face Brush (Stippling, Skunk Brush)
goodthings 1/23/2006 3:27:00 AM
I bought it to use as foundation brush, and all I can say is wow! It's just how I hoped it would be. I use it to apply liquid foundation, and then blend the foundation on the skin. It applies just the right amount of product. My old method of applying foundation consisted of applying liquid foundation with a regular foundation brush, and then blending with a sponge. While this method was effective, it took quite a bit of work to get my desired effect. With just this brush, I am able to apply foundation fast, clean, and even! It makes my work as a makeup artist a whole lot more efficient. After blending, I get a very diffused look. Another great thing about it is, according to my clients, it feels so good when I use it on their skin! It felt just like having a facial, one even commented. Although I think it's very (as in very!) expensive, there's no other brush like this where I'm from. I just wish it came in some sort of packaging to protect it and retain the head's circular shape, not just the ordinary plastic all mac brushes come in. Overall, I think it's a great brush. I would definitely buy again. :)

Concealers -Mary Kay - concealer

I have this product in Beige and in Light Bronze. I love the yellowish tones of these. THe packaging is great, which allows me to get just the right amount of product. Only a very small amount is needed for each use. Price is great as well! I am very happy with my MK Signature Concealers. :)

Liquid -Mary Kay - Medium Coverage Foundation
goodthings 1/6/2006 12:52:00 PM
Great foundation! What I love best are the natural, yellow-toned looking colors. Works great for us Asians! I also like the consistency of the product, which is creamy and spreadable. Another great thing about it is that I need only a small amount for the entire face. The foundation also looks great in photos, and looks better over time. Unlike the cream foundation that I was using before, this foundation does not make my client oily. What they can improve on, though, is the packaging, which always spews out some of the product every time I open it. I just hate wasting product! (I addressed this problem by transferring my foundations into generic plastic tubes.) I am overly impressed with the product, though, that I'm willing to overlook this and still give a five-lippie rating. :)

Eye Shadow -Three Custom Color Specialists - All Eye Shadows
goodthings 12/20/2005 1:05:00 AM
What a great discovery! These shadows are very pigmented and blendable, the qualities I look for in an eyeshadow. They also come in a range of colors, both basic and fashion. I got (rather, I hoarded) mine from a store that put them up for sale at 70% off. Too bad, because the stuff they put up for sale are the ones that they will already stop carrying. Just as well, because I probably wouldn't have discovered and bought so much of them anyway, if they weren't! :)

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipstick- Smokey Rose
goodthings 12/20/2005 12:38:00 AM
Have you ever experienced liking a product so much that you don't want to use it? That's how I feel with this one. This is MY MLBB (I am medium brown, tans easily). I love low-profile lips, and this is just the perfect product for that! Just brown enough, just pink enough. I know just how attractive this color is in my eyes. When I look at all the lipsticks at the revlon counter, this is always the one that I pick up first.

Lipstick -Revlon - Rose Velvet

I love this lipstick! Pretty much a YLBB shade, it suits almost all of my clients as a MU artist. The texture is soft and smooth, and feels light on. Staying power is ok, just what you would expect from a cream lippie. I was actually pretty apprehensive when I bought this, because at that time there were only 3 reviews here in MUA (I am soooo MUA-dependent.). I'm so glad I made a good decision. :)

Lipstick -Prestige - spark
goodthings 10/3/2005 12:23:00 PM
What a great color! It is a frosted berry/reddish/pinkish brown that looks great on. I think it is a good everyday or natural look color. The texture is a bit drying for me, though, but it's nothing that a lip balm underneath can't fix. I am also not too keen on the taste and scent, which I find to be a bit medicine-like. Still, it is a great color, and I absolutely love the price. :)/// EDIT (20 Dec 05): I gave mine away. Although I loved the color, I just couldn't stand the taste. Blech! I thought I could love the lippies as much as I love the eye and lip pencils. I feel really bad, since these are so affordable. Sorry, Prestige! Moved my rating from a 5 to a 2. :(

Blush -NARS - Nico
goodthings 9/29/2005 4:52:00 AM
I've been using a white powder highlighter before I got this, and I was really happy with that one. I have, however, also been looking for a beige one. I've been eyeing this product ever since I first laid eyes on it. I finally got it and I've been loving it ever since. It's a bit loose in the compact, looser than other Nars blushes. I love the shimmer it contains, which don't really show on the skin, but give the skin a glow. It does give a diffused effect. All I can say is, as a highlighter, this product is just WOW!!!

Blush -NARS - Sin
goodthings 9/29/2005 4:39:00 AM
Got this from a swap. Just like other Nars blushes, this applies very differently from the way it looks in the pan. On my brown skin with golden undertones, this applies like a dusty rose. I am fascinated by the uniqueness of the color, although I'm not quite sure if I will buy it again. I'm still exploring ways to widen my use of this product. I do believe this is a great product, and that I just have not tapped into its potential yet. EDIT: I tried this on somebody with darker skin, and it turned out fabulous! I just had to put a lot on her, and it looked like she was flushing. I think I couldn't appreciate this blush at first because I didn't know how to use it. I'm upping my rating from 4 to 5. Still not sure, though, if I will buy it again. :)

Eye Makeup Remover -Artistry - Eye and Lip Makeup Remover
goodthings 9/29/2005 3:04:00 AM
I find this to be both effective and gentle, just what I am looking for in this type of product. Just a little bit will take away even stubborn eyeliner, mascara or lipstick. It's also very light on the skin. It does leave an ever so slightly oily residue, which disappears within a minute anyway. For the quality, I think it's also quite cheap! I'm never without this product.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Color Surge Impossibly Glossy - beach bunny
goodthings 9/13/2005 3:58:00 AM
This is just the nude beige lip gloss perfect-for-smoky-eyes product that I've been looking for... sheer, but shows up on my dark lips and doesn't wash me out... comes in the tube packaging I prefer... a little less expensive than other high end equivalents. I've never been a fan of Clinique, but I am a HUGE fan of this product. Again, I have MUA and fellow MUAers to thank, for I would never have tried this product if I didn't accidentally see the reviews. EDIT: Hmmm... I just realized that the lack of staying power (compared with lipglasses and juicy tubes) bothers me. I'm actually thinking of letting this go. Bringing down my rating from a five to a three. :(

Lip Gloss -NARS - Lip Lacquer in Eros
goodthings 9/13/2005 1:10:00 AM
I'm more of a light lipcolor person, playing up eyes more and keeping lips low profile. This color, however, is an exception to my usual preferences. I find it just bright enough. I also think this would work for any skintone. It's also great that I've finally found a sheer lipcolor that stays on! Great product. /// EDIT (20 Dec 05): Just love this product! All the clients I've used this on gave positive feedback on its staying power. :)

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Raisin Glaze [DISCONTINUED]
goodthings 9/5/2005 1:59:00 AM
Have reviewed Super Lustrous Lip Gloss line in general, so I'll just give my comments on the color. Raisin Glaze is a very complex color. It goes on a little bit dark for my taste when I first put it on, so it took me a while to get this. I kept trying it on from testers, but always wiped it off because it always looked too dark. I couldn't understand why this got so much rave reviews and an astounding rating on MUA. One time, I didn't wipe it off right away. After a while, I was surprised that it had already blended very well with my lips. That's when I decided to get it. Now I also understand the reviews. :)
