Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Baby Quasar

This is a review for just Baby Blue. I used it every day for about 6 weeks, treating areas that are prone to cystic acne for about 3-5 minutes each (20 minutes sessions). Anyway, this is very time-consuming and while it is a pleasant sensation on the skin, it is not how I would like to spend my evenings. Having said that, if the results had been brilliant, I would have stuck it out, but Baby blue did nothing for prevention or healing. IMHO it is a complete waste of money and time. One is better off investing in well-formulated pBHA and AHA products for acne. From the reviews below, it appears that the red Baby quasar may actually work, but right now I am not willing to part with more money for another Quasar experience.

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Gel Exfoliant

Finally, something that seems to come close to being a cure for my hormonal acne after 10 years of trying everything except for accutane (BPO, Retin-A, azelaic acid, antibiotics, AHA and BHA by Jan Marini and Peter Thomas Roth and various acne products from Dermalogica). I started this 5 weeks ago. At the 10 day mark I had a bit of a breakout, but nothing unbearable. Normally, I would have a new painful pimple appearing every few days, especially around mid-period which would then take ages to heal and disappear. For the past 3 weeks I had only one small cystic spot and even that vanished after a few days without a trace. I use it once or twice day, alternating with an AHA-containing mild face cream (french pharmacy stuff that doesn't do much on its own). So, if you think you have tried everything and your acne is not gone yet, invest in this, it is definitely worth a try!

Liquid -Giorgio Armani - Lasting Silk UV Foundation SPF20
fvger 10/29/2009 8:25:00 AM
This is a very good foundation with a beautiful natural finish. It covers well and stays on OK (though, not as well as colorstay by revlon). However, the reason why I love it is that it does not clog pores and cause acne even when wearing it all day (8am-9pm) every day. I have been using this for a month. I am NC25/Becca Nude/BB warm sand/LSF 5.5 and I can use this both in 5.5 (bit too light) and 6.5 (bit too dark). For now I mix them, but mid-winter I will switch to 5.5. Another bonus is that the colour stays true and does not oxidise at all. All in all, I think this a superb product to try for those of you with mild, hormonal acne!

Shampoo -Fresh - Cotton Shampoo

Mediocre shampoo at best. I used it on and off for 6 months and never noticed its effect on volume and my hair is not even fine. It also made my scalp itch (too much fragrance?). 2 lippies for being sulfate-free (and for the pleasant and soothing scent), but that's all from me. Save your cash...

Other -Unlisted Brand - Braun 7280 Silk-Epil Xpressive Epilator

Amazing product. I must have bought my previous epilator about 6 years ago, but I hardly used it as it was like torture in slow motion. Instead, I just kept on waxing with strips and various professional kits. I bought this yesterday and it is in a different league. Pain is negligible (but then again I am used to waxing myself), the process is fast and the results are truly fantastic. Go for it...it is well worth the money. The only potential downside of epilators that they are notorious about giving ingrown hairs, but the product is good enough for me to want to cope with that.

Powder -BeneFit Cosmetics - Hello Flawless!
fvger 5/15/2009 2:28:00 PM
My relationship with HF started out great, but I noticed an increase in clogged pores 4-5 days after starting to wear it. Despite religious exfoliation and clarisonic, after 2 weeks of wearing it I am breaking out like crazy, especially on cheeks and near hairlines. It looked nice on, but not enough to put up with the breakouts.

Tinted Moisturizer -Vincent Longo - Light Canvas Tinted Moisturizer

It is a great product for acne-prone skin that is sensitive to silicones. This TM provides a natural finish with a glow and covers more than some light foundations I've tried. The color range is a bit off IMHO. 3 is a very pale pink, 4 is quite ashy and still pink, while 5 is too orange for my nc25 (Becca Nude, LM oil-free Nude) skin. I mix them to get a good colour but sometimes I wonder whether it's worth the effort...

Cleansers -Clarins - Pure Melt Cleansing Gel
fvger 4/6/2008 5:27:00 AM
This is a great cleanser for my fickle acne-prone skin. Good texture for a bit of face massage in the evening. It's been part of my clear face routine since January and my skin likes it better than the other oil cleansers I tried (Shu, MAC, jojoba and Dermalogica). It doesn't remove eye makeup very well hence the 4 lippies. Also, the fragrance and the price are just a bit too much.....

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Sandy Gold

Makes my lids look really crepey (and I'm only 31) in a scary way. It's way too dry to look decent and the colour is off if you are paler than NC30. Other than that, lasting powder is great, but that doesn't make it more wearable :-(

Liquid -Avene - Fluid foundation corrector
fvger 5/24/2006 2:06:00 PM
OK girls, here is my first review on makeupalley, after several years of checking out others'. This foundation is brilliant!! I have been wearing it for 3 weeks and despite having very sensitive acne-prone skin, I have had no problem with it. I tried every TM out there including BB, Tarte, LM, Bourjois, Givenchy, Biotherm and Clinique and also several mineral makeup brand, and so far this is my favourite. It covers redness well, evens out the skin tone, hides blemishes when layered, wears like iron through the day and best of all feels and looks completely natural on the skin. And it even has got an adequate UVA/UVB SPF15. I wear it in"Natural" (level 2) which is a tiny bit light for me (NC25, BB TM light, LM nude-sand), but brightens up my skin without washing me out.
