A silvery color with finely-milled glitter/shimmer. Can shine lavender or green depending on the light. A fun shade for spring. I like just one coat for a little shimmer, shine, and color.
Lips -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Sugar Plum

This is one of the nicer lip butters. A very close dupe of Vincent Longo's Foolish Virgin, which is one of my faves. In comparison to some of the other colors in the line, this one is more demure. I like that this one has no glitter or shimmer. It lasts for an hour or two but it's marketed as a lip butter so that's to be expected. It has no offensive scent and feels good on the lips. I'm hoping that Revlon keeps the lip butters around, I would definitely buy this one again.
This made me look like I had been dead a few days. My lips but deceased. It obviously works for some but something about my coloring made it look awful. I'm extremely fair and I think that it may be that the natural bright pinkish color of my lips did not combine well with the brown in this shade. Pair that with the thick, opaque formula and there was no saving it. Not crazy about the powdery scent either. Oh well.
I love this thing. Makes your natural nails smooth and glossy and unlike a manicure, it never chips.
This is one product that I will buy forever and ever until they stop making it. It smells so good and it's very moisturizing. If I'm feeling lazy, I can skip lotion after using this without that awful "I shaved and didn't use lotion" feeling. Can't beat the price either.
Misc Beauty Tools -Tweezerman - Metal Eye Lash Comb

I've had mine for so long I can't remember. Hands down the best de-clump-inator on the market. The plastic ones are completely useless compared to this gem.
This is a wetter mascara than I'm used to. Combined with the messy brush, there is potential for goopiness. Other than that, I really liked it. A better brush would have made this a five. I liked that the color was actually black. A little of this product goes a long way, for daytime the lightest coat is sufficient. My lashes did look extra-long and there wasn't any flaking or smudging until I had been wearing it for more than 14 hours. Another thing I love about this mascara is that it actually washed off clean when I tried to remove it. I'd probably buy it again but by time I need a new one, I'm sure some new mascara that I want to try will be out.
Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

I don't think I have ever bought this product once but I've had a constant supply of it one way or another for as long as I've been concerned with skincare. They literally give it away. But I would not buy this product even though I'll keep using it if they give it to me. It's too expensive for a fairly ordinary moisturizer. It's moisturizing enough for me and doesn't feel greasy or smell bad. My skin has no bad reaction with it. And you can't beat free.
Fragrances -Stella McCartney - Stella- Eau de Parfum

One reviewer said they were infatuated, and I think they're on the right track. This is what truest love smells like. Stella is heavenly and heady-real perfume, none of this lemon Pinesol stuff. Proper and immodest all at once. Romantic and beautiful, it lasts all night and I wake up still smelling it, to the delight of anyone who happens to be waking up next to me. Has prompted many long lean-ins followed by intoxicated "ahhhhs." Intense and passionate, a play of light and dark. This is a fairy-tale of a fragrance.
Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil

Standard lip balm. Has a waxy feel, which doesn't offend me. The scent is ok. Pretty standard, nothing special. It will get the job done but nothing to write home about. I like the minty original better.
My sister convinced me to try this. I can see how this might be exactly what some people want, but it just wasn't a good match for me. Overall, it's a good product. It gives a customizable level of coverage, which is nice. The brushes it came with are great and I will continue to use them with other makeup. The mineral veil is a really nice product and the bronzer is okay. There's a ton of stuff in that starter kit for your money. I think I would like this more if I didn't prefer a moister, more dewy finish. While it doesn't feel heavy to me, it does feel dry and unnatural. And if you use a heavier moisturizer to counteract the drying effect, the powder and moisturizer together feels like a mud pie on your face. While it didn't bother me in the beginning, it really started to annoy me towards the end that this product makes a mess every time you use it. I'm sick of cleaning it up, there has to be a better way to package this. Packaging is never much of an issue for me, but in this case it makes the product no fun to use. To many negatives to outweigh the positives, will not repurchase.
My favorite eyeshadow. They make wonderful colors in a super-blendable formula. I think they make the perfect shimmers: not too glittery or sparkly, just luminescent. The colors look true to their pan form and don't crease easily. The team that makes these has a unrivaled eye for wearable, beautiful colors. The classic Kitten is a favorite, and the discontinued Viola. The packaging has changed over the years, some have been better than others. It currently comes in a plastic clamshell, which is fine. Love to get these in the sets Stila comes out with. A great value.
Powder -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Powder
froggrlily 4/2/2012 2:41:00 PM
This is a decent product, but nothing exceptional. I don't really wear powder much anymore, but this was my go-to in high school. It has a wide range of shades, which is nice. I'm so pale that sometimes it's hard for me to find a good match but that was no problem in this line. The powder is finely milled and soft, which I also like. The packaging is needlessly bulky with a separate compartment for the sponge and every time I bought it (which was several times, I was young and dumb) it cracked. I agree with reviewer who said it stuck to her dry spots. Not bad for the drugstore, but there are better compact powders to be had.
Lipstick -Vincent Longo - Lip Stain Foolish Virgin

I love this lipstick. I like the scent and the color is beautiful. It makes my lips look pouty and plush and pink, like a baby's rosy lips. Or like a foolish virgin's. I my experience men respond well to this color, I think because it doesn't seem like a big, intimidating lipstick. It makes you look like a young and beautiful girl. In the tube it looks vey opaque but it goes on sheer. It's subtle enough for day but sexy enough for night. It stays on for hours but doesn't dry out my lips. I like the formula so much that I want to check out other colors. May be the only lipstick I've ever used up. Love it!
Revlon does a great red. Although this formula is matte, it is not drying or thick-feeling as some other matte lipsticks tend to be. This color suits my fair skin very well, a very vibrant, true, crayon-box red. Snow White would have worn this color, it's the color of poison berries and movie blood. It shocks me that women wore this color in the 50s, it's so unabashedly sexy. I bought it for a halloween costume but I got so many compliments that I kept it around with my regular makeup. I think the contrast makes my eyes look really blue. I love that the color is build-able. For real life, I apply this with a very light hand (more like a stain) or apply and blot. For night or dress-up, you can't beat the fun drama of this red applied full strength. I'm not much of a red lipstick girl, but I've never had a true red I liked better including designer brands.
