BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream
fihe 10/2/2012 7:00:00 PM
this product is pretty good. I bought it because although it's supposedly not like Asian BB creams, it seemed like something simple to use for everyday, and it is. it can be applied with any type of damp face makeup brush, or with your fingers, and still looks good any way you use it. it provides sheer coverage, which is all I really care for anyway. however, I only gave it 4 lippies rather than 5 because it tends to make my oily skin look rather shiny after a few hours. but it's nothing a touchup of powder can't fix.

Lip Treatments -Carmex - Moisture Plus - Plum
fihe 9/27/2012 9:22:00 PM
bought this at CVS on clearance for 87¢! I wasn't sure whether I'd keep it or give it to someone, but I finally opened it a few weeks ago and it's a lovely, wearable plum shade! I gave it only 4 lippies instead of 5 for the medicinal taste, but I nevertheless love this product. unfortunately, my CVS no longer sells it it (hence the clearance) and I haven't seen it on the Carmex website either, which must mean that it's discontinued :(

Mascara -Almay - Intense i-color in Black Emerald
fihe 8/16/2012 10:09:00 PM
I got this mascara a while ago and even though it's been over a year since I finished my tube, I thought I'd leave a review. I originally bought it because it was 75% off at CVS and I wanted to try a colored mascara (well, even though there's just a hint of color). I have brown eyes rather than hazel, but for 75% off, I didn't care :P anyway, in normal lighting it just looks like a soft black (while on the lashes), but you could see the green in bright light. the color is soft enough that it doesn't clash with certain eyeshadow colors, but it provides just a hint of enhancement ;) I think I'd buy it again if it were on sale.

Blush -NYX - Rouge Cream Blush - Golden
fihe 8/9/2012 7:44:00 PM
I got this in a swap. it happens to be one of the only cream blushes I own. normally I don't like using cream blush because it's not as easy to apply as powder, but this one is so pretty that I just couldn't part with it. it instantly makes my face look brighter, and looks especially nice when I also use bronzer to contour. usually I'll wear this with another powder blush on top, because I feel that NYX Golden gives the look of an "inner glow" whereas any other blush I put on top of it will give an "outer glow". sometimes I'll wear this blush without another on top, when I want a more natural look. unfortunately, this blush is hard to find. the only two stores in my town that sell NYX products are Harmon and Ulta, and neither carry this shade :( even though I've never tried it, it appears that Revlon Photoready cream blush in Pinched is a similar color to this. I would recommend trying that if you cannot find NYX Golden.

Mascara -New York Color - Sky Rise Lengthening Mascara
fihe 8/7/2012 1:27:00 AM
pretty good mascara! I thought I'd try the cheapest mascara at CVS at only $1.99 (though I got it for 99¢ after the BOGO) to see if was any good, and sure enough, it is! it doesn't really give much volume, but since it's marketed as just a lengthening mascara, I can't complain. and it sure lengthens! NYC Sky Rise mascara gives me long Kim Kardashian lashes (I'm not a fan of her but she has great eyelashes, lol). the only reason I took off a lippie is because the mascara tends to gather at the top of the tube and needs to be wiped off each time I use it before putting the wand back in, or else it'll spill out and make a mess. but for the low price and good performance, I hardly mind.

Concealers -Everyday Minerals - Mint Concealer
fihe 7/18/2012 9:50:00 PM
I've had this product for a long time but never used it much because any redness on my face was usually sufficiently covered by my regular makeup. well, lately I've gotten a very red, irritated face from overuse of benzoyl peroxide. it looks like a bad sunburn and feels like one too! I need to watch what kinds of products I use on my face so that my skin doesn't feel like it's on fire. well, I applied this concealer with a kabuki brush on my red areas (which is essentially my entire face at the moment), and then used a concealer brush to spot-apply on blemishes. then I applied my regular mineral powder foundation, which at the time is Physicians Formula airbrushing pressed powder. I no longer look like a lobster when wearing these products, and they do not irritate my skin! just be sure to gently exfoliate and moisturize before use, as powder products can make skin appear dry, plus it could look uneven if some areas are more dry or moist than others. when the product is on and your face feels dry, I recommend using a hydration mist (basically a mixture of glycerin and water).

Cleansers -The Body Shop - Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash
fihe 7/11/2012 5:07:00 AM
my favorite product in the seaweed starter kit. feels wonderfully refreshing on the skin, as if it's cleaning all of the junk out of my pores. however, I feel like when used with the other products in this line (especially the night treatment), my skin is not nearly hydrated enough. I think drying out my skin will eventually cause it to produce more oil and make it worse -_- what a shame.

Toners -The Body Shop - Seaweed Clarifying Toner
fihe 7/11/2012 5:05:00 AM
I don't really use toner, but this was part of the seaweed starter kit. I use it right after the cleanser. this toner feels very nice and refreshing on the skin, but I haven't noticed any benefits it has over regular witch hazel o_O also, it makes my skin feel a little too dehydrated. the seaweed day cream isn't enough to moisturize my skin after using this and the cleanser, and I supposedly have oily skin!

Moisturizers -The Body Shop - Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream
fihe 7/11/2012 5:02:00 AM
this stuff is decent, though the pot is not all that hygienic. however, it doesn't matter much since I apply it right after washing my face (which washes my hands in the process). I like how it feels somewhat cooling on my skin and doesn't dry it out like the night treatment does, but at the same time I don't find it to be particularly mattifying. my Clean & Clear Finishes Mattify moisturizer (sadly discontinued) does a better job of this, even though it leaves a bit of a white cast. I'd say that this day cream reminds me of my Clean & Clear Dual Action moisturizer, which is a lot cheaper and comes in a hygienic pump bottle, so I guess I won't be buying this stuff again. good thing I just got it in the starter kit.

Treatments -The Body Shop - Seaweed clarifying night treatment
fihe 7/11/2012 4:54:00 AM
I got this as part of the Seaweed starter kit from The Body Shop. I'm not sure if this product is meant to be used by itself or in conjunction with another moisturizer, but no night moisturizer was included with the kit (just the day one) and it is quite drying! even though I have combo/oily skin, it feels too dry if I don't moisturize, especially at night -_- if I use it with my regular moisturizer, it's ok I guess. but I just don't see the point of this product. I'd never buy it by itself.

Eyeliner -Physicians Formula - Shimmer Strips Gel Creamliner - Glam Collection - Hazel Eyes
fihe 7/2/2012 3:46:00 AM
I got this at my local CVS for 75% off. despite not having hazel eyes, I liked the colors: antique gold, amethyst, and black with gold sparkles. the gold and amethyst shades are pretty when swatched, and are good to use when I want a lighter look. sadly, they dry out easily and I've already had to revive them twice with eyedrops. the black shade for some reason doesn't have this problem. it goes on great and I can actually see the sparkles when the product is on, if I look closely. I rated this product a 3 just because of the drying-out problem with two of the three colors. Meh.

Tinted Moisturizer -Nivea - Tinted Moisturizer
fihe 6/11/2012 1:48:00 AM
I love Nivea products but this stuff SUCKS. I got the "fair to light" color since I have fair skin, but it was WAY too dark and ORANGE!!! not only that, but it's very hard to blend in and made my face feel oily. definitely not light on the skin like a tinted moisturizer should be. I ended up giving it away.

Hair -Unlisted Brand - Coconut Oil
fihe 6/10/2012 3:08:00 AM
Coconut oil has proven to be AMAZING for my hair! even though I have somewhat thin hair with oily roots, it seems like over the past year or so, my ends have gotten dry. I suppose this is because I wash and blow dry my hair every day now. since I exercise daily, I don't like to have a dirty, sweaty head of hair on my pillow at night. well, anyway, I was in need of something to moisturize my ends since my Suave Humectant conditioner just wasn't cutting it. so I decided to apply coconut oil to my hair. the first time I used it, it was a huge fail and made my hair completely greasy. then I realized I was using it wrong, as well as using way too much. I've realized the best way for me to use coconut oil as a hair treatment is to rub a bit into my hair, avoiding the roots, tie up my hair with a jaw clip, wait 30-60 minutes, and then shampoo, condition, and style as usual. my hair is left incredibly soft and beautiful! I've found that coconut oil works much better for me than olive oil; because it's a solid at room temperature, it's much easier to control how much I use so that I don't end up with greasy ends. the coconut oil I use is the same one I cook with, but I keep some in a little jar in my room with my hair products. I purchased a 16 fl. oz. jar from my local Indian grocery for about $4, so not only is it super cheap considering how long it lasts, but it's not just good for the hair!

Eye Shadow -Sally Girl - Sally Girl Beige
fihe 6/3/2012 9:46:00 PM
this is a pretty good eyeshadow. it cost only 99¢! it's a nice matte beige color that is very good for using as a lid color or as a highlight to balance out a shimmery or dark eye. it's pretty small but that's ok. it has a very soft texture and seems to last long with an eye primer. I would highly recommend buying this if you have access to a Sally's.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous in Blushing Nude (New for Fall '08)
fihe 5/25/2012 1:15:00 AM
great formula, awesome color! I was fortunate enough to receive it as an extra in a swap. little did I know that it would become one of my favorite lipsticks! I would describe this as a MLBB color. it's what I wanted Soft Rose to be; it has the nice rosy color I want my lips to have, but is more wearable. the formula is moisturizing and pigmented, and doesn't wear off easily. I'm not sure what else to say other than that I love it ^_^
