Lipstick -New York Color - ultralast lipwear 418b sugarplum
felissajohnson 3/9/2012 8:44:00 PM
Ugh! This was a big fail for me. This color was all kinds of wrong for my skin tone. I stalked this for a while and finally got it at Rite-Aid for 40% off and ended up paying about $1.18 for it. I really should have left it in the store, but my curiosity got the best of me and I got it. This color looked much prettier in the tube than it did on my lips. It's not a bright pink, but it's sort of a dark fuschia color, a slightly darker-ish pink. I thought I could try to make it work by adding some clear gloss and toning the color down but that did not work this time. The texture was nice, but the color was off. This is the second NYC lipstick that I purchased that I ended up not liking on me and had to give away, so I don't think I will get anymore. I have "Mahogany", it's okay, but I don't reach for it often, matter of fact sometimes I forget I even own it. But anyway, pinks do not work that well on me, and reds are not for me either and this is a cross color between both of those.

Lipstick -NYX - Lipstick (In General)
felissajohnson 3/8/2012 11:25:00 AM
I am not terribly crazy about these lipsticks, but they are alright. I'm just glad that they don't have the same nauseating smell as their pasty, overrated lipglosses. The formula is kind of weird because it's really creamy, extremely creamy. I mean you really have to use a light hand for the application otherwise they will run and bleed all over your lips even with a lipliner. When I apply these I blot the color on my lips very carefully, because they also have a tendency to sink into your liplines, particularly if you put on just a little too much. The only one I currently have is "Phoebe" (I've since thrown the other two that I purchased and reviewed straight into the trash). "Phoebe" is a dark brown lipstick. I love dark brown lipsticks, they are my favorite. "Phoebe" is the right kind of chocolate dark brown without being a heavy dark almost black brown. It's a lovely color. But you have to use just a little because it's a dark brown, not a nude at all. Whenever I wear it, I only apply it to my top lip, because I have learned that putting it on both lips makes it look too dark and muddy. So I just put it on my top lip and dab a tiny swipe of "Bare Mint" lip gloss by C.O Bigelow (which can be found at BBW) on my bottom lip. I rub my lips together very easily as not to smear the lipstick (because it can smear badly) and the two fit together like a perfect marriage of color. The only reason that I use the Bare Mint which is a sheer brown lipgloss instead of my usual clear gloss is because the sheer brown helps to lighten up the brown lipstick. I don't reach for Phoebe all of the time as I did when I first purchased it, but overall it is a good color. I would purchase again only if NYX changed their formula somewhat and didn't make their lipsticks so creamy. It's also a pain in the butt to have that kind of formula because they can melt quickly if put into the wrong temperature.

Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - Wetslicks Amazemint - Sillylily
felissajohnson 3/8/2012 11:01:00 AM
This color is absolutely beautiful. I got this back in late December on clearance at Walgreens for $1.59. I wish they would have had more of these but then again, I am afraid that this one will do the "seperating" thing that the others do, so maybe it's best that I only got one. This looks great on my lips. It's a plummish tone. It's not sheer, it's definitely color. It looks even better with a slightly applied dark brown lip liner for defining. I have figured out exactly what this looks like. It is an exact dupe for L'Oreal's Color Riche lip gloss in Rich Plum (the one in the little small tube with gold cap). The colors are the exact same. I also own the Rich Plum so this is how I know.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche in Fairest Nude
felissajohnson 3/6/2012 1:52:00 PM
I finally got this!! I may the last person on earth to do so, but I now have one! After stalking it for weeks and watching numerous swatches on youtube videos, I finally got this. I was very hesitant because of my skin tone, I have to be careful with nude tones so that I will not have that ashy white lip look, which is never cute. I however made this work!! I love the smell and texture of L'Oreal lipsticks because they are very smooth and creamy and they have that old fashioned makeup smell that I love. To make this work for me: I lined my lips in a dark brown liner of course very lightly, not a heavy line (this is done for definition) and I softly blotted the lipstick on my lips as I actually do with all of my lipsticks (I think it makes them look better) then I topped it off with just a dab or two of a CLEAR GLOSS. I normally use clear gloses with all of my lipsticks so that I can get that true color. It worked like a charm and I am well pleased. It came out to be a very soft, sort of milky, nudish-pink, VERY GORGEOUS. I was careful when combining the gloss and lipstick so that I would not completely fade out the lipliner, yet still have it not as noticeable. I was surprised at how well I did it , but then again I am always very meticulous with my lipstick application. Seeing how well this works with just a clear gloss, I most definitely will have to go back and get a backup.

Eye Shadow -L.A. Colors - eyeshadow quad in Truffles

Fallout city!! This is a good product with great colors, although two of them look almost identical. The pigmentation is good, but watch the fallout, it's heavy.

Eye Shadow -L.A. Colors - Mineral Eyeshadows All Colors

Whoa! This is pigmented as hell!! Way too much. I have this in "Teal" and although it's a beautiful color with subtle silver sparkles, it was a beast to remove. I only tried it on to see how the color would look on my lid against my skin tone and it would not come off! I mean I had to scrub!! Now I am afraid to put this back on for fear that the same thing will happen. I know I went through a couple of make up wipes to remove this and probably a warm, wet washcloth as well, but it was a minute before it was completely removed. Pretty color, cheap price (got it at Dollar Tree), too much of a hassle to remove.

Fragrances -Paris Hilton - Fairy Dust
felissajohnson 2/22/2012 3:11:00 PM
Gag worthy and smells very cheap, not to mention it has that strong alcohol smell that most cheap perfumes have. I was really surprised when I smelled this scent of hers because I have said before most of her stufff smells nice except for her last fragrance (Tease). This is bad, it seems like there was not a lot of thought that went into this one. Strong smelling and not pleasant at all.

Lip Gloss -NYX - Brush On Lip Gloss
felissajohnson 2/20/2012 7:14:00 PM
HORRIBLE! Absolutely TERRIBLE! I stalked this for a while in the Beauty Supply Store and finally got it, but I wish I would have never glanced it's way now. I got it for I think about $2 or $3. I got it in the color "Vineyard". I should have known this wasn't going to go well because it was a brush applicator and I despise brush applicators they are very awkward to me. I would rather have a sponge doe foot applicator. The product had that ghastly smell to it like all NYX glosses do. It was that stale grape smell. The gloss had a very odd consistency to it once I tried it on my lips and the color was very strange. It didn't glide smoothly, it sort of went all over my lips. I wanted a dark purple color but this had what looked like different shades of purple all blended in, which was awful. The brush splayed once it was put back into the tube and it caused a mess. These needs to go right in the trash since it can't be returned.

Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - White Citrus shower gel
felissajohnson 2/19/2012 7:58:00 PM
Just like the body spray and lotion, this is tha bomb!! This is love to me. One of my favorite body washes and one of my favorite scents from BBW. This is an excellent product! It lathers wonderfully, smells very rich and clean and feels amazing on the skin leaving a soft, smooth feeling. This works really well when it is layered with the set. By itself I do find it to be a bit pricey, even the travel size is $5 or $6, which is outrageous for the smallest size. I always usually purchase these when I have a coupon, because even the bigger size bottles are over $10 just about. Maybe it's worth the price, but I can't bring myself to spend my money on it. It is a great shower gel though.

Lips -C.O. Bigelow - Lemon Lip Balm
felissajohnson 2/19/2012 7:38:00 PM
This is a good product. It smells like the sweetest lemon zest, almost like lemonade bottled into a lip balm tube. It feels great on your lips, but sort of has a waxy feel to it. I will admit, it is not the most longest lasting moisturizer. If I put this on my lips before bed, I do find sometimes that I have to reapply in the middle on the night if I wake up and my lips are dry. Another thing that I don't care for is that it is incredibly soft, perhaps too soft. The reason I say this is because it leans, leans, leans. No matter how low you wind the balm down, it still has this awkward leaning thing going on and I often times find myself having to readjust it with my fingers which is not good, because you have to be very gentle with it or it will break off or completely fall apart and melt in your hands. I don't think there is a lot of product either. As others have stated the packaging is huge but when you really get into the actual balm it's a lot smaller. I got this as a free gift with a coupon from BBW. I'm glad I did because otherwise I would have never gotten this because it is $7.50 and that is entirely too much money for a lip balm.

Lipstick -NYX - Hermes
felissajohnson 2/18/2012 9:06:00 PM
This is nothing special. It actually came out to be a nude on me, which I was not expecting. It matched my skin tone a little too much. It is a peanut butter-clay colored nude color. It sort of took on what I call a muddy appearance on my lips. It's not awful, but it's definitely something that I probably will not be reaching for to often. I was hoping that this would be a rosy brown which I have seen it described as, but I didn't see any kind of rosy-brown in this.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - L'Oreal Colour Riche Gloss Lipstick, RICH NUDE
felissajohnson 2/12/2012 10:51:00 PM
This is chocolate brown. It should really be named "Rich Chocolate". I don't know how L'Oreal came up with nude anywhere in the name. I know "rich " could possibly mean deep, but it's still confusing. It's a nice color though and I like dark lip colors on me, so this works. It's a small tube so there is very little product, and it's very pricey as I said in another review regarding this product.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - L'Oreal Colour Riche Lip Gloss Soft Nude
felissajohnson 2/12/2012 10:32:00 PM
This is most definitely a nude. It's an opaque nude, no sheer to it at all. This is a good product. It's not sticky or drying. It has a great texture. I really do not care for that smell though. I would rather it be unscented, but it's not terrible, I've smelled worse. It has that metallic smell to it. I would probably not purchase this again for the simple fact that I really don't want to have a lot of nude lip products because I feel it doesn't do much for my complexion.

Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild - Lipstick- #547b, Breeze
felissajohnson 2/12/2012 9:37:00 PM
I like this. I was hoping that I would. I got this today at Rite-Aid for .59 cents since it was on sale for 40% off. I am not really a fan nor am I intrigued by Wet N Wild cosmetics. They always seem to have a teenage, retro, cheap look to their packaging and colors. This color actually came out nice on me. It's a nice light frosty pink-peach shade. It is definitely a frost, therefore, you have to wear a gloss with this to tone it down. I chose to wear a clear gloss which is what I usually wear on top of my lipsticks. I will never understand the whole thing of putting a colored opaque gloss over the lipstick because that takes away the color of the lipstick. I like to add shine to mine so the clear gloss worked perfectly. It helped to mute out the frost somewhat and make it a nice soft color with a slight frost-white tint to it that blended well. The funny thing is I have another lipstick that matches this shade almost exactly, and it's a Nicka K lipstick in "Satin Glow" and it is a gorgeous color. The only difference is Satin Glow has a little more pink to it and it's creamier. This will most likely be my only WNW lipstick because none of the other shades ever appeal to me. Edited to add: My mistake. This review is supposed to be for the color 547B, however the name of the lipstick is also "Breeze" as listed above, so I'm somewhat confused. I now see the other listing for the right lipstick that I am speaking of.

Other -Unlisted Brand - Slatkin - Twisted Peppermint - room fragrance spray
felissajohnson 2/12/2012 6:29:00 PM
Choking. Literally. I don't know what this is made of but it got all down inside of my throat and made me have a terrible coughing fit. I promptly returned this dangerous mess back to the store. I really thought I would like it because the fragrance of twisted peppermint is really nice, but it's a fragrance that clearly does not belong as a room air freshner spray.
