Fragrances -Yves Saint Laurent - Baby Doll

The packaging is gorgeous and girly - the only aspect I really like about this perfume. I detest the scent, on others and on myself. It seems to smell the same on everyone, and it is far too sickly sweet for my liking. I know many who love it and I just don't see the allure. To me it is over the top. This is the sort of scent every 18 year old girl seems to adore, so probably a great gift if that's your target audience.

Fragrances -Ralph Lauren - RALPH COOL [DISCONTINUED]

This was the first perfume I bought for myself, I think I was about 17 at the time and I adored it then. It reminds me of warm summer nights and fruity pre-mix alcohol! Now that I'm older the smell is a bit too young for me (and I'm only 21). It's very fruity, a little obvious and has terrible wear. It smells awfully strong upon application and soon after evaporates into nothing. The smell is very one dimensional, although it fades to different levels of strength I don't find the notes alter. This is probably an ideal gift perfume for a 16 year old girl starting out in the world of fragrance, but I think its way overpriced for an EDT!

Eyeliner -Clinique - Cream shaper for eyes black diamond
rated 5 of 5

I bought this to replace my very disappointing MAC - Powerpoint eyeliner (which constantly smudged and ran on my normal/dry skin). I am amazed by this! The colour is beautiful, it is soft and easy to apply as well as smudge. But the main reason I love it is for its staying power. It lasts all day without moving a millimetre! I had a searing hot shower and it STILL stayed on until I pressed a towel against my eyes. If you're trying to decide between this and MAC.. this is far better!

Mascara -Clinique - Lash Building Primer
rated 5 of 5

I've been on the search for my HG mascara for some time now, when I use this product I feel like I'm there. You apply it as you would any normal mascara, it goes on clearly except for the tips of my eyelashes which it makes white. I have long, yet fine blonde lashes - so this is an absolute godsend. Mascara never usually picks up the fine tips - using this does though, gives me the longest lashes I've ever had. I used to have to apply a million coats to get the desired look, now I use much less mascara and as a result - much less eye make up remover, my night time routine is a whole lot less messy! It is fantastic for boosting volume too - the main reason I use it. There is one minus and that is packaging, it functions as it should but in terms of aesthetics - after just over a month of use the metallic font has come off the tube completely. It hasn't been stored in any harsh circumstances and I feel that given the product only has a shelf life of three months the packaging should at least last THAT long! Aside from that definitely recommend this!

Treatments -Mario Badescu - Drying Lotion
rated 4 of 5

I have pretty clear skin with the occasional (usually hormonal pimple). It wouldn't bother me but I get them in the most stupid places, so they must be destroyed straight away! This isn't a miracle product that stops me from getting pimples ever again, but it definitely does kill spots a lot quicker than anything else. Depending on the size, it can be overnight. I find it only works on certain types of pimples, larger in size, whiteheads. Don't shake the bottle, if you do - leave it awhile, it will eventually settle. I think next time I'm going to purchase the buffering lotion and see how effective that is.

Primer/ Corrector -Rimmel - Recover Perfect Skin Primer - Anti Redness
rated 5 of 5
erotic_snail 12/8/2007 3:55:00 AM

I am in love with this product! I should preface this by stating I am definitely no primer connoisseur, and prior to using this I wondered if it was even necessary. In the warm Australian climate, when I'm going to be at work for 9 hours it is definitely something that makes my make up last and keeps me looking just as polished when I'm coming home as I did when I was leaving home. This makes the tone of my skin look more even and knocks out redness in the areas that are prone to them - cheeks and nose. I can get really flushed during warm weather and it completely stops that from coming through. It doesn't feel heavy at all, even with this and foundation my skin still feels like SKIN! Can't recommend this enough, it's so cheap and such an awesome product.

Liquid -Laura Mercier - moisturizing foundation
rated 5 of 5
erotic_snail 12/7/2007 11:38:00 AM

This is one of the most natural looking foundations I have worn. The colour, is the best colour match I have found so far. I am warm ivory in this (MAC - NW20, EL -1W1 Bone). It provides similar coverage and staying power as Estee Lauders Doublewear, EL has the better coverage of the two but that comes with a heavy mask like finish and an awful smell. Not to mention my skin looked so dull and uneven, prone to breakouts while I wore EL. Will definitely repurchase!

Scrubs -LUSH - Ocean Salt
rated 2 of 5
erotic_snail 12/7/2007 11:19:00 AM

I got a generous sample of this from a very helpful SA, but I don't think I'll be making a purchase. This is the harshest exfoliant I've ever used. My skin isn't sensitive yet after using this in a few select areas I actually felt as though I had cut my skin. I was rubbing VERY gently, and very slowly because the large chunks of salt felt like glass even under light pressure. The oversized chunks also made it impossible for me to target specific areas that dry out (crevices of my nose!). My skin does feel smooth but this result is achievable with any basic exfoliant. I would rather use LUSH Love Lettuce Mask as an occasional exfoliant than this. Wouldn't rule out this for the body but definitely not for my face!

Cleansers -Shu Uemura - Cleansing Beauty Oil Premium A/O
rated 5 of 5
erotic_snail 12/1/2007 9:56:00 PM

I have the green tea version of this, and I love it. It takes off all my make up, but most importantly leaves my face feeling so soft and moisturised. I don't need to use as much moisturiser after using this, and like many other reviewer I don't need a toner. I don't like the packaging though, the pump is easy to use but I cannot put it in a bag without it leaking everywhere (the lock feature isn't very reliable ) so any time I stay over a friends I have to keep it in my hands. Make sure you keep the box it came in if you wish to use it away from home!

Fragrances -Christian Dior - Pure Poison

I am not old, nor a hooker and yet I love this scent. If you wish to take the advice of the "ZOMG hooker smellzor lolz" reviewers go ahead, but you'll be missing out on a gorgeous scent. This always gets me compliments when I wear it, and it's not the kind of fragrance you smell everywhere you go either.

Bronzers -NARS - Laguna
rated 3 of 5
erotic_snail 11/27/2007 4:00:00 AM

This is a fairly subtle, natural looking bronzer. I don't have the features to pull off any hardcore bronzing so colour wise this is fairly ideal for producing the appearance of a very light tan. People won't ask you if you've been in the sun lately, but they won't assume you are deathly ill either! My major problem with this bronzer is that every single one I have purchased has cracked within weeks of gentle use and correct storage and I am left with an array of messy loose powder in the palette. I completely lose motivation for using a product under such circumstances and it's enough to make me want to switch bronzers. I would also prefer a bronzer with a tad more shimmer for night time use. So for now I won't be repurchasing.

Makeup Brushes -The Body Shop - Face/ Body Brush
rated 5 of 5
erotic_snail 11/27/2007 3:37:00 AM

I'm not nearly as qualified on the subject of make up brushes as I imagine many of the other reviewers are, but what I do know is that this one makes my bronzer look beautiful and evenly applied. The brush is so soft, I do have a few high end brushes in my collection and this is still the softest brush I have. I used a horrible cheap one before this (desperation) and you really can notice the difference in application. Maybe a MAC one WOULD be even better, but I'm perfectly happy with this and would recommend it to anyone.

Eye Makeup Remover -Lancome - Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Make-up Remover
rated 4 of 5
erotic_snail 11/27/2007 3:26:00 AM

This removes mascara better than any other product I've used, though admittedly my previous buys were cheapies because I was hoping this would be the one area of my make up/skincare that I didn't spend much on. Shoddy products have made that impossible. You only need a small amount, it's gentle, non irritating and I love the look of the bottle. It's nice when something as mundane as removing eye make up can be made to feel luxurious! -For the AU readers I highly recommend buying this online - the price instore is ridiculous.

Masks -Aesop - Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque
rated 2 of 5
erotic_snail 11/27/2007 3:23:00 AM

The texture is creamy, and light brown in colour, you leave on for 15 minutes before rinsing. It dries like a clay mask. It has that same lavender smell as the Primrose Facial Hydrating Cream. I really haven't noticed any difference in my skin or any results at all from this, other than it being quite drying. I love the brand so I think I'll check out some of their other masques. They're great with samples so I recommend asking for a few samples of this before buying.

Fragrances -Versace - Woman
rated 4 of 5

I've been searching for this perfume for the longest time, I would always smell it on random strangers and wish it were my own. Finally about two years on, it is. I was attracted to the clean, sweet smell of it. I feel it is a little overcrowded with various notes, it really has so many different phases of smells. On the initial spray it is VERY sweet, raspberry and plum, then for a time a musky very floral fragrance, and then finally fades to a light, clean scent that retains just the right amount of musk. It stays on even after a shower, and that actually brings in down to the level I love best. There is a note in this that is often used in mens fragrances, smells like the first boy I ever loved which is a great thing! I have to say, this perfume shines when it is HOT, scorching hot. It is transformed from a pretty scent into an absolutely amazing one!
