Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Baked Eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5
ems001 2/17/2010 12:13:00 AM

I was a little skeptical about this eyeshadow at first, because I was never attracted to Urban Decay and I thought their e/s were too overhyped, but I tried this and I fell in love with it. This is a rich beautiful bronze/gold color, very pigmented - I only needed 2 strokes on the pan and my whole eyelid was covered. What suprised me the most was the staying power, it stayed on all day, with no primer under it, and even after I sweated and had a busy day, it was not even creasing. I was really suprised, bc any shadow I wear, any brand, creases on my lid after a couple hours, this was the first that didn't. Would definetly love to try other colors of this e/s and even other Urban Decay products, I can't believe I did not try them before. I like the packaging, it is cute - I don't give 5 on packaging unless I really like it.

Eye Shadow -Bare Escentuals - Well Rested
rated 3 of 5

Let me start by saying that I hate when there are two or more sets of reviews for an item (in this case I think there are 2) OK about the BE undereye concealer - it was ok, but I was not blown away like with other BE items. It did made my undereye look a little lighter, but there was no significant change, it was just a yellow-ish powder. Most of the time I skipped that step and you could barely tell that I had no undereye concealer. Now my under eye area is not that bad too begin with, so maybe that is why I did not notice a difference. However, I think a cream works better for that area. I didn't hate, but I did not love, I would not buy it again.

Palettes -Bare Escentuals - Beyond The Basics

I never bought the starter kit and instead I bought this, because it was cheaper and it attracted me more. It also made me fall in love with BE. I love the concealers, they covered so well and made me look so nice, when I was done I bought another container of summer bisque. The all over face colors were great too, made my skin look natural. The only one I had a bit of trouble with was faux tan, because of the little container, it was hard to put your brush in, swirl and tap it, so I had a little trouble applying this without putting too much on, but still a great product and a little goes a long way. Good kit to try BE and I also loved the brushes, still use them for my other make-up. I would definetly buy this kit again, just maybe put the faux tan in another bigger BE container.

Cleansers -LUSH - Herbalism
rated 3 of 5

I must say I am little surpised at how many bad reviews this cleanser has, although I do agree with some of them. I used for cleanser for a couple days and I was not amazed. It did nothing for the odd pimple I have and like other people said it did not remove make-up. Yes I know it is not a make-up remover, but when I wear light make-up, I expect the cleanser to remove most of it- and most of the cleanser I've had, have done that in the past. I NEED a cleanser to remove make-up, it is almoust like a test for the cleanser. If it can't remove a little bit of make-up of your face, how do you know it removes oil and bacteria and other things that are deep into your pores? It is also pretty messy and it takes awhile getting used it - forming the paste and applying it on. However, it does make my skin feel very soft and not dry or tight at all, the smell is not too bad, very "herbally" and the idea of it is interesting. Also it is pretty pricey, I don't think it is worth it. I would rather try other cleansers from LUSH before settling on this one.

Scrubs -Sephora - Vanilla Cupcake
rated 5 of 5
ems001 2/15/2010 2:37:00 PM

I love the smell of this scrub. It is soo delicious, not too sweet or sickening, and I like it that it is more than just plain Vanilla, which has been soo overdone. Good scrub overall, it is not harsh at all, and my skin feels really soft afterwards. I got it at a good price too from Sephora, on sale after Xmas. The only things I don't like, it is a bit runny compared to other scrubs and I feel I have to use a little more, therefore a bottle of 200ml doesn't last me more than 7-8 times at most. LOVE love the smell though. Would love the body oil in this flavour.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly
rated 4 of 5
ems001 2/13/2010 6:22:00 PM

This is an interesting product, the first time I used it I just rubbed it on my body, and although that worked somewhat, a lot of product got washed away b/c it doesn't lather up quick. Today I used it with a body pouf, and it lathered better, but still not as much as I would have liked it. The smell is not bad, it is fruity - cherry soda and grape. I like it but I am not in love with it. It also goes away pretty fast, does not linger. A CON - it did not moisturize at all, my legs were pretty dry after using it. I'm not sure I would get 80 -100 uses out of it (like the previous reviewer said). Even with a body pouf, it did not lather as much and I still used a decent amount. I would say half of that so 40-50, maybe I am using too much, but it does not feel like it. It is a fun alternative to a regular shower gel or soap bar. And I would definitely like to try the other scents, like Whoosh

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Big Blue Bath Bomb
rated 5 of 5
ems001 2/13/2010 12:03:00 PM

Great bath bomb. I was at LUSH with my bf and we've trid other bath bombs (more girly) so I let him pick one that he wanted to try. He really likes the ocean so he picked the Big Blue. At first, I wasn't really excited to use it, the smell wasn't my type, but after I used it, I loved it. It does make you water all blue/green like the ocean and the seaweed from it settles at the bottom and it looks like ocean seaweed. The seaweed might be tricky to clean, I wouldn't suggest it in a whirpool bath. The scent is not very distinct (not fruity or floral, but very clean/nature-ish smell) - I smelled sea salts and maybe lime, but I did like it and it does linger for awhile. I smelled it on my skin a little bit after I got out but after 2 hrs or so maybe sooner it was gone. It softened my skin, but did not give me a beachy glow (like LUSH says it will) or maybe it just wasn't noticeable enough. Overall it was very soothing and moisturizing b/c of the salts. I really like using it and I would definetly buy it again.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Yummy yummy yummy
rated 2 of 5
ems001 2/12/2010 12:01:00 PM

I only used a little bit of this, but I was not impressed at all. It does not lather, so it is very hard to wash with it, unless you use a lot. It is runny and chunky, like a reviewer said before, like spoiled milk with pieces of strawberry or something in it. The smell is ok, not great, but does not last at all. and my skin was pretty dry after it, more dry than with other shower gels. This shower gel had some potential, cute name, nice flavour, but it failed. I would not get it again.

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Spectro Jel for Blemish-Prone Skin (Fragrance Free version)
rated 4 of 5
ems001 2/12/2010 11:29:00 AM

I've been using this cleanser for quiet a while. It is a great gentle cleanser, does not leave your skin dry or tight. The only thing is it does not remove make-up all that well, I usually run a cotton pad with make-up remover on it and I see that there is sill lots of make-up on my face after I washed my face with it. I think it is a good cleanser for the morning, when your face has no make-up on it. It's also good for sensitive skin. Have little or no smell and it a clear gel with a bit of shimmer in it - which NEVER shows up on you face. The price is also not bad, since it comes in a big tube. The only reason I said I would not buy this again is because I need something that removes make-up pretty well and I also have plenty of this cleanser left, I want to try something else.

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Up You Gets Emotibomb
rated 4 of 5
ems001 2/11/2010 9:36:00 PM

Love the fragrance of this one. Citrusy, but not a "fake" smell, a little bit sweet I found, but not too bad. The price yes, is high ($4 for 1) and they don't last that long beause one is fairly small, and it goes down the drain b/c you are using it in a shower, but I still like them. I wouldn't use them everyday obviously, but as a special treat once in awhile when you are having a rough morning I think they are worth it. I also put it at the back of my shower for awhile so it lasted a good time, and then towards the end of my shower I moved closer, but still not under the showerhead. These are not for everyone, but if you are not a bath person, but you want the experience I think these are a good thing to try. They come in couple smells. LOVE the smell of Up you gets.

Pressed Powders -Cargo - blu_ray high definition pressed powder
rated 5 of 5
ems001 2/10/2010 8:56:00 PM

I got this powder in a swap. At first I thought it might be too light for me and it wouldn't work, but then I really needed a pressed powder so I decided to give a try. It is a really good powder, goes on nice and smooth with a powder brush, doesn't look caked on even when you apply a little extra on some spots. Evens out my skin and makes makeup stay on longer and look nicer. Good staying power too. I'm not sure what the blu ray is all about, if it looks better in pics or anything, I don't know. I have nothing negative to say about it. Definetly would buy it again. BTW I think there is another set of reviews for this pressed powder.

Eyeliner -Sephora - Jumbo Eye Pencil
rated 4 of 5
ems001 2/10/2010 2:28:00 PM

This review is for the Sephora Jumbo eyeliner in 505Y - violet. I really like this color, it is a not a pearly white, so it doesn't look too fake on you eyes. It does make your eyes look more awake and perky. I usually put a little line in the inner corners of my eye and smudge it with an eyeshadow brush. It gives me a very nice look and makes my eyes stand out and gives me that awake look. It is a little bit like the High brow from Benefit, but less $. The price is also pretty good for this eyeliner. I would definetly buy it again.

Toners -LUSH - Tea Tree Toner Tab
rated 4 of 5
ems001 2/10/2010 1:33:00 AM

I heard good things about this so I decided to try it out. I boiled some water and dropped it in. At first the smell and fizzing was really strong, I was having trouble staying under the towel, but it soon dwindled down. I think these are a good idea, they really open your pores and are great before a mask. tea tree is supposed to help with acne, but I'm not sure if you are getting enough to make a significant difference. They are cheap but if you them more than once a week it can get expensive. Another good thing is that you can save the water and use it as a toner, which saves money and you get to put the product to more use. I would use it again before a mask. I really want to try the C and E one.

Masks -LUSH - Love Lettuce Mask
rated 5 of 5
ems001 2/10/2010 1:17:00 AM

So I walked into LUSH and because I had soo much body stuff I really wanted to try their face masks. The SA recommended the Love Lettuce for my skin (combination, oily t-zone, occasional pimple) and I really like it. I did a tea tree tab steam before for about 10 minutes, really opened my pores and then applied the mask for about 12 minutes. Afterwards, as I was washing it away I was also scrubbing my face with it. It made my face feel nice and clean (but not tight) and my pores looked smaller and cleaner, less blackheads(that might have been because of the Tea tree tab as well). My skin was soo soft and smooth, I kept wanting to touch my face and feel it. I would definelty buy it again, the only CON is that you only have 3 weeks to use otherwise it goes bad, and sometimes I either forget or don't have time to give myself a facial. I really want to try other, particularly the Cupcake one. I love the cute little containers it comes it and you can trade them for another mask, can't wait. Ohh the SA said it would be good for 2 uses, maybe 3. I put on a good layer, not thin at all and I still have lots, maybe another 3 uses.
