Cleansers -Olay - Total Effects Nourishing Cream Cleanser

Okay I LOVE this cleanser. I know it's targeted towards older people, and I'm 16; but seriously this stuff is AMAZING. And I have no idea why there aren't more reviews for this stuff? WEIRD. *(And just to clarify - this is a product review for Olay Total Effects, 7-in-1 Anti-Aging Cleanser: Nourishing Cream Cleanser. The 'Nourishing Cream Cleanser' is in a BLUE label; there's a similarly-named cleanser that has a PURPLE label. Don't get them confused(: ) I have super-sensitive combination skin - acne-prone, oily forehead, super dry cheeks/nose/chin. I'm always trying different cleansers, but I've never gotten any noticeable results from different cleansers. It's always the same. Minor breakout, if I take super-good care of my skin. Major breakout, if I slip-up just once. But for some reason, I was taking extremely good care of my skin, and I just kept breaking out. Nothing was going away, it was only getting worse. Took me forever to realize it was my then-cleanser. I felt so dumb. I actually bought this cleanser by mistake - so lucky. I was reading the ingredient lists of several various cleansers, looking for oil; which none of them had. I THOUGHT I had looked at this cleanser too, so I assumed it didn't contain any oil. Imagine my horrified shock when I got home, reviewed the ingredient list, and saw the words "MINERAL OIL". I freaked out - use the old cleanser or the new one; either way I was screwed. After I calmed down, I looked it up on several sites, including makeupalley. There were very few reviews, but ALL of them were positive. Not a single person mentioned breaking out. So I also googled 'mineral oil' - just to make sure. Turns out, this cleanser not only DOESN'T make me break out; it ALSO cleared up my skin super-fast. Most signs of my major-break-out are gone - everything's healed, fading if not already faded. Even the pesky-tiny-skin-colored-bumps that have been on my cheeks for the past several months are GONE. I had actually accepted those annoying bumps would always be there - I had tried everything to get rid of them, but nothing had worked. Until this, anyways. All my previous skin-issues are, well, no longer issues - my super-sensitive-always-pink skin is completely calmed down, and my skin is moisturized; my dry-patches are all gone. I no longer have to put on a moisturizer before makeup, so I barely (if at all) get shiny-faced during the day. Lastly, my overall skin texture has largely improved. My skin looks like it has this natural 'glow' to it, it's so nice. And I think my pores shrunk a bit too - YAY. Oh, and I've only been using this cleanser for about 6 days; this review might be a bit pre-mature, but I'll definately update at a later point if things change.

Foundations -Almay - TLC Truly Lasting Color
rated 1 of 5
emmibabyy 5/31/2009 5:33:00 PM

I love this stuff. I have pretty oily skin and for the most stray away from liquid makeup. That was until I discovered TLC(: My skin isn't ridiculously oily, but I have to usually touchup/blot at least 2-3 times a day. I can go with only blotting once a day, and it won't be awful or anything, but I like to be completely free of oiliness. Firstly I love the coverage, it's not as sheer as I thought it would be. It covers my fairly faint acne scars pretty well. Also, it does NOT turn orange at all! Even if its been awhile and I'm pretty oily, it didn't turn orange. And it didn't do any funny things with my eyebrows, like turning them orange or anything. It simply stayed where it was. It also didn't accentuate my pores in any way. I wouldn't say they looked smaller, but they definately didn't look any bigger. I would say it lasts about 3-4 hours without there being oiliness. Also this stuff is the least makeup-y looking stuff I have ever used. It looks extremely natural, you can BARELY tell. I loooooove the packaging, its genuis. And I apply it using a makeup sponge, I think it works pretty well. It may be a tad bit expensive for a drugstore product but personally I think its definately worth it. UPDATE, 12-2-09: I've recently stopped using this foundation; I used it for all of the summer and the first half of the fall semester. I stopped using it maybe 2-3 months ago or so; I'm not gonna lie, this foundation is AWFUL.! It was nice for awhile, long-wearing, great color, good coverage, natural looking. Until it started making me majorly break out, all over my cheeks & chin. And i know it was THIS FOUNDATION; because not only was my skin super nice and clear for several months before I started using this; I also typically ONLY break-out on my forehead. Before this foundation, I don't even remember a time I had a bump that WASN'T on my forehead. And the way this foundation made me breakout wasn't even normal for me - i would have like twenty small, skin-colored bumps, along with 4-5 small, painful, red bumps. The painful ones would take FOREVER to go away, and the skin-colored ones wouldn't go away no matter how hard I tried; and it made my skin gross; all bumpy/rough looking. It has been at least 2 months since I've stopped using this stuff - and I'm STILL suffering from those gross pesky small skin-colored bumps. Recently, I bought a cleanser that seems to be helping get rid of these bumps; however they are still there. Besides that, NO PRODUCT should cause ANY sort of reaction that lasts 2 MONTHS. I consider this stuff evil and manipulative. I will never use anything from Almay ever, ever again.

Powder -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Loose Powder

Well, I used to use this stuff all the time. It isn't absolutely amazing or anything but it was the best I could find at the time. It gives really nice coverage and it doesn't look super-makeupy at first. However its definately possible for it to look makeupy if you reapply later in the day without taking it off. It also does that awful thing where it sticks to your eyebrows kinda and makes them turn orange. My skin is oily with medium sized pores; and this stuff definately accentuates your pores later in the day. Also it turns orangish later too. And its kind of embarressing to reapply in the bathroom around other people? Well for me anyways. The brush it comes with is absolute rubbish so I always end up taking that out and ripping off the plastic thing for it and the little tray thing. So when I would apply it, I would have to shake it to get product in the cup-shaped top; and would then CAREFULLY open it. Also when you rip off the inside stuff it makes it so the top comes off really easily. So it would always open up in my bag and spill powder everywhere. Basically this stuff is okay but not the greatest. I suggest you don't bother wasting your money on it and look for something better. Also I suggest switching to Almay's TLC foundation. Its much better.(:

Self Tanners -L'Oreal - sublime glow moisturizing MicroFine Mist+ Natural skin tone Enchancer
rated 5 of 5
emmibabyy 5/31/2009 5:10:00 PM

This is my absolute favorite self tanner EVER. I have been experimenting with self tanners for the past couple years and have tried alot of different ones. I am EXTREMELY pale (the kind of pale that redheads are; but im not a redhead) and skin cancer runs in my family so that means no sun tanning for me. Anyway I had been using Jergens for awhile but i stopped because i absolutely hated the color of it. It always turned me an orangish-brown; not bright orange but enough orange-y ness to where it showed up in natural light. Once when I wore a skirt to school a boy yelled out "I like your orange spray tan!". Awful. So began the hunt for a better self tanner. After looking at about a zillion reviews for different products on makeup alley, I finally discovered this one. I was so convinced that it would be perfect that I made my mom drive around to different stores until we finally found it. I bought two because they looked small and I remembered people saying they ran out fast. Initially, the application wasn't amazing - I applied it everywhere and it ended up mostly even except for the lower part of my legs. I suggest applying it by moving it slowly in lines. Don't rush it or it may turn up uneven. I think I've applied about 4 applications and I am a very nice dark color. It looks extremely natural - not orangish in the slightest; even in natural light. It looks just like you've gone and laid out in the sun. Personally, its a huge accomplishment if a self tanner doesn't turn me orange because of how extremely pale I am. I'm so pale that when I'm not wearing any self tanner at all, my mom looks at me and goes "ohmygoodness, are you sick? Why are you so incredibly pale?" The scent is very very faint when first applying it - and it does NOT show up later at all. Even if you apply this in the morning before school or work, you will not go through the day smelling like self-tanner. Its extremely important to wait for this to dry before really moving or putting on any sort of clothing. To me this seems obvious - but my sister used some and apparently did not wait for it to dry. The result was alot of it ended up coming off and she was very unhappy. Both my sister and my mom were extremely doubtful of this stuff. My sister and I applied it in the same night, but she decided she didn't like it and went back to using Jergens. I contined to apply another 3 layers. Now my sister is slightly orange and jealous of how tan I am and how natural I look. She is scrubbing off her 'Jergens tan' as quickly as possibly. My mom is also complimenting me on how tan I am and is wanting to give it a try as well. Previously she was saying there was no way it could result in a good tan and that she had used spray self tanners before and the result was always uneven. I wasn't sure if you could, but I applied it to my face as well. I simply closed my eyes and sprayed. The result was even and natural. It did not make my eyebrows orange. I like the spray alot better then a cream. The only thing that could possibly improve this product would for it to be cheaper and also bigger. It cost about $10 each. And they really do not last long at all - After 4 applications for my body, 3 for my face, and also my sister's application; a bottle was completely empty. Luckily I still have one left. I plan on buying 5 or so at once next time. Sorry for the long review haha I simply want to make sure to be thorough because this product seriously deserves it. (:

Cleansers -Olay - Regenerist Daily Regenerating Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
emmibabyy 2/7/2009 11:17:00 PM

i am so confused. i honestly love this product so so much. i dont understand the negativity. i first tried the microdermabrasion regenerist treatment thing by olay and loved it so i decided to try the cleanser to go along with it. my skin would be described as: very sensitive, oily, breakout prone, lots of post acne marks, dry. i dont really break out as much as i used to, but i have a ridiculous amount of acne marks. or at least i used to! i remember the first time i used this (and this was back in the days where i wore HEAVY makeup) and i first washed my skin and i thought that my makeup wasnt coming off, that i still had my makeup on. so i tried to wash my skin again. i felt confused because my skin wasnt turning bright red like it usually did when i washed my face;; no it was calm normal skin. also this product just makes my skin feel soft and lovely; and its great because where i live is very dry so i end up having dry patches usually but not with this stuff. ive repurchased this numerous times. i am in love with it. i no longer have to wear heavy makeup. now i just wear a little powder and im good to go! oh and also; im on my monthly and i have ONE zit. ONE. normally its hell. i would have 6, 7, 8 - you get the picture. but i have one. and its a tiny inconspicious one that is already going away(: i think people who have used this and dont get good results simply dont rinse their skin well enough - make sure that when you wash your skin with any cleanser that you rinse your face with water several times. (:

Scrubs -Olay - Regenerist Microdermabrasion and Peel Kit

im so glad i finally got this! ive been thinking about it for like ever and finally got it. ive probably been using it too much, just because im so excited - i used it the day i bought it, two days later, and next day... ive definately noticed a huge difference! firstly NO DRYNESS, where i live it gets incredibly dry during the winter and the little bit of dryness on my face - gone! i definately bought this to help fade some stubborn acne marks and right when i got it i had a hormonal break out to deal with. just a couple days later my skin is clearing up and the lingering scars that were barely there but just there enough to be noticeable are already gone, and the other more stubborn ones are fading too. i hope with continued use i wont have to wear make up anymore. my skin looks bright and very pretty (: i always had a problem with being so red and am glad that problem is GONE. i really love olays 'regenerist' line, its so nice to my skin [even though its for old people and im 15 haha. me and my mom share stuff.] im going to try hard and make myself wait to use it again because i know it might not be good to use it constantly [like everyday?] i will probably end up using it every other day though. [like i saw someone else say, i have skin of steel! :P] after my mom saw my skin she wanted to go use it(: all i can say is i am so happy and relieved. i definately think this product is my 'hg' [i dont really know what that term means but i see everyone using it and i can tell it means your favorite product that you love or something.] (: GO BUY IT! and okay if you break out from it, here is my assumption why - some of the product DOESNT GET RINSED. the very first time i used it i noticed i got some zits along my hairline where i didnt really wash my skin so well after using it. ive been cleansing before AND after using it, first using a washcloth to get off most of the product from my skin, splashing my face several times with water, and then cleansing (and rinsing very well after cleansing too!) just wanted to help(: i saw some people said it made them break out and thats probably why. mkay bye go buy this right now(:

Cleansers -Ponds - Fresh Start Daily Wash
rated 4 of 5
emmibabyy 7/25/2008 3:40:00 AM

Im a regular user of Proactiv, but i was out and i didnt know what to use because it wasnt supposed to ship for another week. my sister uses this stuff so i thought i might as well use it as a fill in till i get my Proactiv. I fully expected to break out, especially since my skin is used to Proactiv, and also my sister has always had perfect skin (shes 11) she has just started washing her skin so i didnt think this would work for me at all. I used to have really bad acne, now i just have the faint scars left behind, and this really took off my foundation well and didnt iritate my skin. My skin really felt clean afterwards. My mom, usually my own worst critic, complimented me on how lovely my skin looks. Im thinking about just switching to this stuff. Its pretty great.

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
rated 5 of 5
emmibabyy 6/7/2008 4:05:00 PM

Wow! So I have EXTREMELY pale skin, I mean I'm so pale that I have never ever been able to tan, I only BURN. I haven't ever found a foundation that has perfectly matched me and not made me look orange. Every single foundation I have had before THIS foundation has turned me orange. I LOVE THIS STUFF. I used to use a sponge to apply it, but now i use my fingers because it doesn't waste any product and you need so little. I am PORCELAIN IVORY. The only reason I need to wear foundation is because I USED to have extremely acne-prone skin, but my skin cleared up after using Proactiv religiously but that is a seperate review all together. Now I rarely break out if ever, BUT I do have quite a few acne-scars that haven't faded all the way yet. This foundation offers enough coverage that it covers these scars and makes my skin look FLAWLESS. OVERALL PROS: Doesn't dry out skin Perfectly Matches Very Blend-able Looks like your own skin - doesn't look fake Doesn't turn orange Need very little - Lasts a long time! Isn't oily, skin won't look shiny after a couple hours OVERALL CONS: WILL MAKE YOU BREAK OUT ONLY IF YOU SLEEP IN IT! Can't layer it, you HAVE to use little or your skin will look fake and icky in a couple hours YESS this product will make you break out awfully ONLY IF YOU SLEEP IN IT! If you take very good care of your skin it will not make you break out! the first month I had this stuff I never broke out ONCE from it because I took extremely good care of my skin! Then I got cocky and slept in it a couple times and I regretted it very much! It definitely made me break out. But I will definitely still be using this product because it is the most wonderful thing foundation I have ever found. I wear Cover Girls Fresh Complexion Oil Control Powder over it - for the first ten minutes or so my skin looks sort of odd, but then it looks natural and flawless. I don't know if its the powder or the foundation or the combination of both but my skin is never oily or anything. Even during the 2 hour long dance where its hot and sweaty and I feel like im sweating profusly my skin STILL LOOOKS AMAZING. BUY THIS STUFF. !

Liquid -Cover Girl - Clean Makeup

this stuff is AWFUL. the oil control version is slightly better in the fact it doesnt sting and doesnt smell as bad. this stuff was my first liquid foundation ever. its awful. its very drying? and it smells like bug spray. the kind of bug spray that makes your eyes water and sneeze. it hurts so bad if you put it under your eyes or on your eyelids. i will never buy this stuff ever again.ugh. oh and im fair skinned. and the lightest of this stuff is ivory, but its kind of dark and makes me look a little orange. when i wore this people would come up and tell me i was wearing too much makeup and i look gross. the oil control is a little bit better but not by much.

Liquid -Cover Girl - Clean Makeup Oil Control

This is the liquid makeup i have been normally using everyday for the past couple monthes. Everyone has been telling me to stop wearing so much makeup and that I look too cakey. I decided to switch to sheer cover. my mom uses it and says its wonderful. this stuff is okay. the oil control doesnt really control oil any better then the normal clean makeup, it just doesnt sting when you put it on.
