Lip Gloss -MAC - Ola Mango
rated 5 of 5

Ola Mango is an orangey-gold-coral shade, perfect for summer. This was the absolute best MAC gloss I ever used, it was truly my best friend. I had the tube for about 3 weeks and then I lost it at someone's stupid work party. Not only was it limited edition, but I didn't even get to finish it. Lesson of this story: always buy a backup of a product you love.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lipgelee in Glosspitality

I love glosspitality, especially with a tan or a bit of bronzer. The texture is beautiful and the colour makes your lips look oh so juicy! I would definitely recommend it.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Chai lipglass

You've got to be really careful with this one! Do not attempt unless you have a tan, otherwise you will look like a corpse. I first got it in the summer and I liked it, but I stopped wearing it for a bit. When winter arrived, I tried it again and couldn't believe my eyes. I was like; "can this really be the same shade that was flattering 4 months ago?" It smells quite nice though. I think I prefer lip glosses that are more sheer...is it just me or do really opaque shades feel outdated and 90's right now?

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lustreglass - Wonderstruck
rated 2 of 5

My two best friends look stunning when they wear Wonderstruck, so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it's nothing special on me! I wouldn't repurchase...I think it has a tad too much glitter and really does nothing for me colour-wise.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Casa Blanca Eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5

Casa Blanca is the best highlighter I have ever used and I'm going to bawl when I run out...damn limited editions...it's subtle but really gives your eye area some extra oomph! It is so lovely and can be used for daytime no problem. I have integrated it into my daily regime; with mascara and casa blanca I'm good to go!

Eye Shadow -MAC - "Sprout" eye shadow

I absolutely adore this colour but the texture BLOWS. At first I thought there was something wrong with mine (some kind of factory defect) but after reading the reviews I suppose they're all like that. You have to dig into it to get any colour and it looks and feels like the eyeshadow itself has hardened in the container. I will say again though, it looks excellent upon application.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Trax

This colour is lovely. The trick is not to layer it on too heavily--if you do, it goes a dull purple and will make you look like a battered wife. Start with a thin layer and you'll see a lovely golden sparkle with a reddish layer underneath.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Club Eye Shadow
rated 5 of 5

This shadow is primo! The colour is so original (a combo of green, charcoal, dark brown, etc.) I have fairly pale skin and dark brown eyes, and for some reason this shadow gives me the perfect smoky eye. I would definitely recommend it. If you layer it over black eyeshadow, it turns a lovely shade of green.

Concealers -Maybelline - EverFresh Concealer
rated 4 of 5

This concealer really isn't bad for something from a drugstore. It's pretty light and covers well, but only if I have a layer of foundation or powder underneath it. If I put it straight on my skin, it tends to let dark circles or red patches show through.

Moisturizers -Marcelle - Oil-Free Multi-Defense Lotion SPF 15
rated 2 of 5

I feel like an outcast, but I thought this cream was horrible! I broke out really badly after I started using it. I think it was the SPF that did it, because I might be allergic to sun protection. The lotion itself does feel nice when it goes on though. I can see how it would be a good moisturizer if you have dry or normal skin.

Scrubs -St. Ives - Apricot Scrub
rated 5 of 5

I have been using the apricot scrub for years now and it really is fantastic. It removes surface dryness without being too harsh, it smells nice and it's dirt cheap. If it dries out your skin or feels harsh, try the one for sensitive skin and/or moisturize afterwards.

This is a great color, goes on well and lasts. I would definitely recommend it--especially to finish off a nice pedicure!

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
rated 3 of 5
emlyn1 2/26/2007 11:35:00 PM

I like this product, the best thing about it is that it evens out my skin tone. Any redness present on my face is well masked by this powder. It also absorbs oil well...I was enthralled with it in the summer and fall--but I have to say it isn't ideal for winter! I'm disappointed because the powder really accentuates the dryness caused by freezing winds. If I put this on when I have dry/textured skin, all it does is accentuate it...I end up horrified to look at myself in the mirror and see a scaly lizard staring back at me!

Liquid -Clinique - Perfectly Real Makeup
rated 5 of 5
emlyn1 2/26/2007 11:27:00 PM

This foundation works for me, but I have a trick for it! It's quite thick and heavy if you apply it by itself, and the colour is very concentrated--unless your application is perfect, any spots you missed might show. Basically, I mix it with a bit of light moisturizer (it works well with MAC oil control lotion) before application. This way, it's more of a tinted moisturizer, you can apply it liberally, and it still covers imperfections exceptionally well and gives you a lovely healthy glow. Be warned if you have oily skin: you may have to blot our face partway through your evening.

Candles -Yankee Candles - MacIntosh Housewarmer
rated 5 of 5

Yankee Candles are honestly the best scented candles I have ever come across. All of their scents (especially the fruit ones) and excellent, but MacIntosh is LOVELY. I actually bought it for my boyfriend's apartment and he loved it.. and he's no girlie man! I know when he's burning it before I open the front door because the wonderful scent permeates the entire first floor of the building!
