Tinted Moisturizer -Revlon - Age Defying Light Makeup SPF 30 [DISCONTINUED]

I bought this product based on reviews here. I like it very much. I use the shade called 'Skin Brightener' and it gives me a bit of a glow w/o looking heavily made-up. I have large-ish pores on my nose, as well as a bit of redness on my nose due to rosacea, and I put a bit of primer on my nose before using this, and it makes my skin look very nice. I would buy this again.

Moisturizers -Skin Biology - Emu Oil for skin
rated 5 of 5

This stuff is a lifesaver! I had to use it after going to an aesthetician who used products on my face that made me flare horribly. I also used it after an ill-advised purchase of Queen Helene mint julep mask. The oil soothed my flares and cleared up awful dry patches from products that the aesthetician used. (I think she thought 'rosacea' was 'acne rosacea' and so she used products on my skin that one would use for people with acne ... it was a disaster!!) I do not use emu oil on a daily basis, but I do keep it to calm skin flares, and it works wonderfully. I don't use a specific brand; I got some at my local health food store in the skin products section, and it was quite inexpensive. Betsy

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque

The popularity of this product never ceases to amaze me. It is harsh as all get-out, the smell is overpowering, and it is difficult to remove, at least for me. I had a horrible reaction to it; my skin turned bright red and I had to use emu oil for DAYS until the flare cleared up. Ghastly stuff! I pitched it! Betsy

Lip Gloss -Burt's Bees - Burt's Bees Lip Shimmers - Raisin
rated 4 of 5
eam531 2/12/2006 4:56:00 PM

I've been buying this for a couple of years now. I like the minty tingle, it softens my lips, and the color looks really good on me. It has an amazing depth of color for such an inexpensive product. I do use a neutral lipliner with it; as others have said, it has a tendency to 'migrate'. One thing about the product that I don't like is that if you twist up too much, you can't twist it back down again.

Cleansers -DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil

I found this to be really harsh on my sensitive skin. It removes makeup well, but I thought it was messy and I had to use another cleanser to get the oily residue off. I'm glad it works for others but it isn't for me. Betsy

Fragrances -Clarins - Eau Ressourcante, Rebalancing Fragrance
rated 1 of 5

I used to wear this stuff--a spritz behind my ears. I got it as a freebie when I bought some other Clarins products--it is rather expensive otherwise. Well, it ended up giving a co-worker who doesn't even work in the same room a horrendous allergic reaction, and of course I didn't know it until she pleaded with me to not wear it anymore. I was completely embarassed and of course stopped wearing it, and my co-worker hasn't has any reactions since I stopped. Needless to say, I was mortified. I will not buy this again, rest assured.

Skincare - Face -Sothys - Active-Contour - Tensor Gel (Eye Contour)
rated 2 of 5
eam531 2/11/2006 6:32:00 PM

One of the only Sothys products I have been disappointed in! The packaging is a hygenic pump bottle, but I found that the gel is so thin (unlike the experience of the other reviewer) that about half of it drips off my finger before I can get it up to my face to dab on under my eyes! I also didn't really feel like it did very much. I didn't have a bad reaction to it or anything, but I won't be repurchasing. Betsy

Palettes -Trish McEvoy - Simply Glamorous
rated 5 of 5
eam531 2/11/2006 6:19:00 PM

Fabulous product!! I saw it in the Bliss catalog and was intrigued and then read the reviews here and bought it. I just love this palette. The colors are beautiful and really easy to apply (I am sort of a makeup newbie). The eyeshadows are Shell (very pale pink) and Raisin (shimmery brown). I use the shell all over my lid up to the brow, and then use raisan in the crease and as eyeliner. The blush is Pale, with a shimmer shade called Champagne. This is my first experience with a "nude" blush; it looks GREAT on me, and the Champagne gives a subtle glow. The 3 lip glosses are Super Sexy, Simply Glamourous, and Sugar Plum Pink. Sugar Plum Pink is THE BOMB!! A lovely color; I use it pretty much exclusively. The other two glosses are rather light and I use them on weekends. I don't use the concealer as it is too dark for me; I wish Trish had added another gloss. The packaging is very classy and I can fit it into my very small Coach bag. Wonderful product; I will definitely buy it again.

Liquid -Cover Girl - Outlast All Day Liquid Make-up (foundation+primer) [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
eam531 2/11/2006 6:07:00 PM

I agree with other reviewers that the colors (for caucasians) are rather dark. I ended up having to buy the lightest shade and I have not had to do this with other foundations. I like the concept of primer + foundation. I have rosacea and my skin texture is uneven in areas. If I wear foundation alone, the foundation just emphasizes the uneven places. The primer smooths out my skin (I know, I know, it is full of silcone but it hasn't irritated my skin yet) and then I just put the foundation on, and it looks very nice. It is not too heavy or fake, but I don't use a lot, either. It really has helped to camoflage redness between my eyebrows and on my nose, and it makes my pores disappear. However ... the packaging!! It is awful. I know I will end up not being able to use a lot of the product because it will be impossible to squeeze it out of the bottle, and the flip-top caps are really cheesy and if one of them breaks, I'll have to discard the product. I hope Cover Girl redesigns the packaging; maybe making the bottle into tubes you can actually squeeze. I will see how it goes with this product but for now, I would buy it again. It's cheap and it works for me. Betsy

Scrubs -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Therapeutic Lavender Exfoliating Enzyme Scrub
rated 3 of 5
eam531 2/11/2006 5:54:00 PM

Like zangreen, I have rosacea and found this scrub to be gentle enough to use without irritating my skin. I use it once a week, in the shower, and leave it on during the shower and rinse it off at the end, to let the enzymes do their work. It works well for me and I would repurchase it. Betsy

Cleansers -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Lavender Renewal and Vitality for Sensitive Skin Facial Cleansing Gel
rated 3 of 5
eam531 2/11/2006 5:50:00 PM

I have rosacea and like organic products, so I gave this a shot. One reason I like it is that it really takes makeup off, including my Great Lash mascara. I only use it at night, to remove makeup, because I think if I used it more often it would dry my skin out. It appears to be formulated for skin that is more oily than mine (mine is combination). It comes in a pump bottle, which I like, and it lathers, which I also like. I will continue buying it in order to remove my makeup, and to support an organic product. I am not really nuts about the lavender fragrance, but it doesn't linger. Betsy

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
rated 2 of 5
eam531 2/11/2006 5:42:00 PM

I have rosacea and this product has been touted as the HG of facial cleansers for people with sensitive skin. I really didn't like it. It does not remove makeup, for one thing. For another, I just didn't feel like my skin was clean afterwards, and it stung. I also didn't like the texture; it was like putting creme rinse on my face. I wish it could have worked out, because it is cheap, but I won't be buying it again. Betsy

I got this product as well as the blue gel gloves. I love it! It leaves my alligator hands so soft, doesn't feel greasy, and I like the subtle scent.

Skincare - Face -Sothys - Fragile Capillary Mask
rated 5 of 5
eam531 2/4/2006 7:54:00 PM

I have rosacea and sensitive skin. I love the entire Sothys line of products for sensitive skin, pricey though they are! I use the mask once a week. I agree with another reviewer that it can be sort of hard to remove, so I put it on and then hop in the shower after the mask has been on for about 15 minutes, and it comes off without a lot of rubbing. It leaves my face really soft and smooth. For me, this is a wonderful product.

Lipstick -Clarins - Le Rouge - Passion #350
rated 5 of 5
eam531 1/25/2006 3:24:00 PM

I am a shy violet when it comes to bold lip colors, yet I just LOOOOOVE this lipstick! It is just a beautiful color on me. For use during the workweek, I mix it with lip balm to tone down the color, and put it on really carefully and use lipliner with it. At night I use it as-is, with no toning down. This is just about the only lipstick I use. A wonderful SA at Parfumerie Douglas sold me on it. I would definitely buy it again. Betsy
