Polishes -OPI - I'm Fondue Of You
diana6 12/14/2008 11:42:00 AM
I bought this and Tickle My France-y recently, and I prefer this shade by far! It's a warm, dark, chocolate-y shade with hints of red/copper/plum. There's a hint of shimmer too, so it's not too flat. Just a really gorgeous dark fall/winter color. It's definitely not "blah" like Tickle My France-y. I would definitely buy this again.

Polishes -OPI - Tickle my France-y
diana6 12/14/2008 11:38:00 AM
This looked like a really neutral lavender-gray in the bottle, a seemingly perfect winter color. However, next on me it was awful! My hands looked corpse-like and dead with this shade. I'm a huge fan of OPI, but this color was just not for me! It just clashed with my cool skin tone. It just didn't really look nude - it was a lot more gray with a hint of purple in it.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Extra Gentle Cleanser
diana6 11/22/2008 12:27:00 PM
My skin was getting sooo dry from my normal cleanser now that winter is here, so I decided to try this. I'm a big fan of Neutrogena's oil-free moisturizer for sensitive skin, so I thought this might be good too. Well, it really doesn't do anything to remove make-up! It reminds me a lot of Cetaphil, except that I don't feel any sort of film or residue on my face afterwards - good!! My face is also a lot less drier. I don't wear a lot of makeup, so in that sense it works ok for me. I'll probably keep using it all winter unless I find something better. No irritation or break-outs from it so far (I've been using it about 2 weeks now). Update: It's been about a month now, and still no new breakouts. If anything, my skin actually looks clearer. The extreme winter dryness I was suffering from is gone too! i'll definitely keep using it. My skin feels really soft and smooth.

Fragrances -Carolina Herrera - 212 Sexy
diana6 11/16/2008 9:47:00 PM
Well, I am completely mixed up about all of Carolina Herrera's perfumes now. First I thought I liked Caronlina, after getting a sample of it. I couldn't stop smelling my wrist all day long and couldn't wait to buy the full bottle of it. However, when I went to Sephora to buy, the sample bottle they had out smelled NOTHING like the sample I had gotten. I don't know if it was just old or what, but I couldn't bring myself to buy it. It smelled like old lady and drugstore perfumes. Gross. The original sample had reminded me of Marc Jacobs, but warmed, spicier and sexier! So then I sampled 212 Sexy and thought I liked it a lot better. After bringing it home and wearing it to work one day, I've changed my mind. All day I was completely bothered by the smell and couldn't wait to wash it off. It ALSO smelled old lady, just overwhelming and cheap at the same time. I haven't tried wearing it again since then, and I don't think I will. I have no idea what happened, but none of Carolina's perfumes have worked at all for me! I just don't smell any of the sweetness, warmth or candy in this. It just screams cheap old perfume, like the bottles my grandma let me play with when I was little (Chloe, or Elizabeth Taylor anyone?)

Cleansers -Garnier - Nutri-Pure Detoxifying Wet Cleansing Towelettes Oil-Free
diana6 11/15/2008 11:41:00 AM
I definitely don't use wet cleansing towelettes on a daily basis - only when I get home really late after going out and/or am too tired to really wash my face. They get the makeup off, so your face is decently clean. It's better than nothing! I also like these for camping. I've tried several others (Neutrogena, Biore, and Ponds), but I like these the best. They leave the least amount of residue/film on your face. Not so much of that usual sticky feeling. Plus, they are slightly cheaper and you don't have to buy the whole giant box and can get just a small refill pack. I would buy them again, just for using every now and then...

Lipstick -Cover Girl - Outlast in Natural Blush
diana6 11/5/2008 7:07:00 PM
Well, I just bought this, so I can't comment too much on how well it lasts (will update later), but I am loving the color! It's a very natural color, more pink/berry than nude, but still fairly neutral. I have a hard time wearing true nudes, since my lips have some pigment to them, so this is perfect! It also doesn't feel dry on my lips at all. Easy application and a lovely color. EDIT: Well, I applied it before work this morning and now at 10:30PM it is still there! It's faded a bit - looking more like a lip stain than lipstick right now, but not in a bad way. It stayed on through 3 meals and coffee! My lips did get a little dry, but I just applied the topcoat and it helped a lot.

Lipstick -Max Factor - Lipfinity
diana6 10/27/2008 9:40:00 PM
I am AMAZED at how long this lipstick lasts! I put it on before going to a party last weekend (around 4pm), where I ate food and drank all night long, then fell asleep still wearing it. I woke up the next morning and it my lips STILL looked flawless. I then showered and washed my face. The lipstick was still on even after that!! I eventually had to scrub it off with makeup remover. I'm really really shocked by how well it lasted - no other lipstick has even come close. And I was wearing a dark red shade, that would've been really obvious had it flaked off or faded (which it didn't!). I would definitely buy this again. It's a bit drying, but I just kept reapplying the moisturizer/sealant that comes with it, and that helps a lot. I think I even put chapstick over it at some point and that worked too.

Did absolutely nothing for the KP on my upper arms. Don't waste your money... I'm lucky I only got this as a deluxe sample!

Polishes -Maybelline - Salon Expert in Bitten Plum 605
diana6 10/9/2008 10:56:00 PM
This is pretty much the exact color I was looking for - a very dark plum burgundy. Once it dries, it's the exact color it appears in the bottle. For the price, it's definitely worth it. I have another bottle of Salon Expert that has lasted me a few months, but it's starting to get a little thick. I would buy it again, though. EDIT: It's only been 4 days, and it's starting to chip off the tips of my nails. This usually happens to me because I've been at work (I wash my hands ~10x a day working in a lab), but I've been on vacation since I applied this! I haven't used my hands at all... this is not great.

Lotions/ Creams -Burt's Bees - Milk & Honey Body Lotion
diana6 9/27/2008 8:53:00 PM
I looove the smell of this! It's also nice and light, sinks into your skin quickly, and is a lot less greasy than most other Burt's Bees products. I keep a little bottle of this in my purse for my hands. I'm not sure it would work for really super dry skin, but for everyday it's fine.

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme
diana6 9/27/2008 8:51:00 PM
Love this! It absorbs so quickly without any greasy feeling, but yet your skin feels very moisturized. I also prefer this container over a tube or pump bottle. My only (slight) issue is with the smell - I really like the smell, but wish it was a little milder; sometimes I still smell it on my skin hours later.

Lip Treatments -Nivea - A Kiss of Moisture
diana6 9/27/2008 8:48:00 PM
I really like this! I just grabbed it off the shelf when I needed a new chapstick (haven't been able to find my favorite shea butter at Whole Foods lately) and it turns out that it's great. No weird smell, glides on really smooth, makes my lips feel very soft. It's especially great when you have chapped lips - a lot of lip balms are painful to apply and feel like you're scraping your skin off! This is so soft, it actually feels good to put on. I would definitely buy this again!

Lipstick -Too Faced - Lip of Luxury - Cupcake
diana6 9/14/2008 2:44:00 PM
This is a very creamy, soft lipstick. It feels kind of sticky when you first apply it, but it dries better. I'm not sure about the claims that it "smoothes out fine lines," but it has a decent amount of moisture. Cupcake is a very pink, slightly sheer color that stays on pretty well and isn't super shiny. I'm not sure I'd buy this again (definitely not in this color), since it's a bit pricey for what it is, but I have no major complaints. I also like that it doesn't have that old lady lipstick smell, like a lot of high end lipsticks. It feels more like a gloss.

Lipstick -Too Faced - Lip of Luxury - Totally Nude
diana6 9/14/2008 2:35:00 PM
Well, this color TOTALLY didn't work on me... I looked sickly. My lips have a natural pink tint to them and this nude was so wrong with my skin. The color is just a little bit too brown/yellow with not enough pink. As for the texture, I found it to be a bit sticky at first. I guess if I found a color that worked for me, I might buy it, but the lipstick is nothing special. I can't attest for staying power, since I wiped it off almost immediately!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Exact
diana6 9/14/2008 2:26:00 PM
I'm not impressed. I bought this based on the reviews comparing it to Lash Blast, but with a smaller brush. For one thing, this stuff smells chemical-y and dries out in the tube really fast. The brush itself is ok, but not great. But the worst part is the mascara itself - it does NOTHING to lengthen or thicken my lashes. The only noticeable difference is that it makes my lashes darker. My other issue is that it really doesn't help hold curl in them; they're stick straight again as soon as I apply this. And it tends to clump a whole lot unless you wipe the brush before using it. I don't know... it just reminds me of Great Lash in new packaging - and that's not a good thing!
