Eyes -Make Up Store - All Products

I've got the eye pencil in Silver Soil and I've used it to the end. It's long wearing and smudge-proof. Downside is that I have to draw harder than I like to get the product on. The pencil tip also tends to have these pointy tips when sharpened which can hurt my eyelids if I try to use it when it's short. (I try not to but sometimes I forget to sharpen and desperately need to touch up when my sharpener is not with me.) I use the Make Up Store sharpener. I just got the Make Up For Ever eye liner and will use that for now, but I am considering repurchasing this one instead when I'm out.

Concealers -Make Up For Ever - Lift Concealer
dawnwong 6/20/2012 2:40:00 AM
I wanted something to cover my darkening eye circles but wouldn't settle into the fine under eye wrinkle. This was not it. Admittedly, I do not think there is any product that will not settle into my wrinkle and this has convinced me further. This claims to be a lifting product and is meant to be good for hiding wrinkles but does nothing of the sort, for me at least. The tube cap is starting to give me problems after a month. The liquid has started to overflow and I can't seem to cap it tightly enough to stop that from happening. Maybe the plastic catch inside has worn off. Colour wise, I got the darkest shade and it's still too light for my sort-of-fair oriental skin. It's got a rather runny texture and doesn't layer on well so don't hope to cover blemishes or scars with this. I don't think it's worth the price tag overall. Might look into the MAC concealers instead.

Primer/ Corrector -Make Up For Ever - HD Microperfecting Primer
dawnwong 6/20/2012 2:33:00 AM
To be honest, I can't tell if the primer actually does make my make up stay on for longer. But used together with the HD Liquid Foundation and Loose Powder, I'm pleased with the overall effect. This hasn't made my skin break out and my make up stays on for 12 hour days. No complaints except it is rather pricey. I should be repurchasing when I'm out, or I might try without a primer to compare. Will update if I do compare.

Eyeliner -Make Up For Ever - Aqua Eyes

I just got this and so I can't be sure yet. This goes on really easily which I like because I don't have to tug at my skin. The flip side is that it also smudges more easily. I'm not panda-eyed but the smudging at the bottom outer corners of my eyes is enough to annoy me. Colour is intense which is what I like in an eyeliner. Removing is OK with a waterproof make up remover. The plastic cap looks like it will crack and die real quick in the abyss that is my make up pouch but we'll see. My eye pencil before this was the Make Up Store one and Revlon's Colorstay eyeliner. Both smudged less easily but were also more challenging to apply. I also use Mabelline's gel liner for evening looks. Comparing this to other two I use, I'd say I'd repurchase if I can get over the smudging. Otherwise, the cheaper Revlon & Mabelline ones seem like better deals.

Loose Powders -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Loose Powder
dawnwong 6/20/2012 2:22:00 AM
First thing that struck me was the size of the bottle. It's much smaller and easier to carry around in my make up pouch which is great. However, when it gets bumped around, the powder tends to escape. So when I remove the cap, powder gets everywhere and a lot is wasted. This is bad when the stuff is so pricey. The powder is really fine and blends in pretty well. It's white which I feel makes me look fairer. I'm OK with that but have to be careful to blend it in properly and not to apply too much. I don't wear much of this during the day so I can't say how it looks in sunlight but looks fine at night. Staying powder seems OK used together with the HD primer & liquid foundation. No major complaints about this product. It's OK, which is a problem because it costs a fair bit. But I reckon this will last for a while so won't have to worry about that so soon.

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
dawnwong 6/20/2012 2:11:00 AM
I used to use Clinique's Superfit Liquid Foundation for 5 years and wanted to see if there was something better out there. I tried Chanel, Revlon, Lancome etc. but wasn't satisfied until I discovered the Make Up For Ever HD Foundation. This foundation is rather pricey compared to the SGD55 Clinique one (SGD35 in duty free). But I'm quite pleased with it so far. I've been using this for 3 months now and my skin has not reacted to it. I use it with the MUFE lavender HD primer and HD loose powder which keeps my skin nice and matt even in Singapore's humid, tropical weather. It does shine up after a long 12 hour day but I generally don't need to powder or blot if I'm not out in the sun. (My skin is combination-dry.) Foundation looks good in photographs and in person. Covers dark eye circles and blemishes mostly if I layer it on. But I still need a creme concealer for pigmentation on the cheeks and some other problem spots. Am pleased with this overall, mostly because my skin is very sensitive to chemicals (breakouts) and oils (clogged pores) and this hasn't caused any problems. Will repurchase when I'm out.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Color Riche Intense Fuchsia 288
dawnwong 6/20/2012 2:00:00 AM
This shade of pink works well on my oriental Asian skin. I was told by a MUA that my skin tone is slightly cool although my warm-toned sister wears it well too. I find this goes better with cool pink blushes rather than warm/coral/orangey ones. I'm quite pleased with this purchase although I wish it was a touch more pink than red. (Looks almost red in some lights.) Also takes a bit of effort to remove, probably because of the rich pigment. Have been using this for a while and the packaging still looks new which is great. Not embarrassed to whip it out in the powder room. Great value overall.
