Polishes -Barry M - Dusky Mauve
rated 5 of 5

One out of three of my all time favourite nail polishes colours (along with black and purple). It's a dupe of Paradoxal by Chanel and for £2.99 it's a definite favourite. I often wear it on it's own, with a glitter top coat or with black Barry M crackle.

Polishes -Barry M - Instant Nail Effects
rated 5 of 5

Love the Barry M black Instant Nail Effects. The black goes with any colour sans black, and teamed with a glittery top coat looks really cute. I've bought the white crackle and it only really goes with blak nail polish, and even then it's not that great. I'll stick with black, but I'm dying to try the metallics.

Eye Shadow -Superdrug - MUA (Make Up Academy) - Pressed Eye shadows

For £1 a pop, these can't be beaten and come in a range of colours. I own quite a few of these but the ones I use regularly are Shade 9 Pearl (a bright purple) and Shade 13 Pearl (a near black with purple undertones). Shade 9 is a bit crumbly, but for that price you can't really complain. Shade 13 is very dark and I've only worn it as a night time shade but blends really well considering the price.

Pressed Powders -Collection 2000 - Shine Away Compact Powder

This is a staple in my makeup kit. It's cheap, the packaging is minimalist and does the job perfectly. Although it only comes in 3 shades, you can change the colour of it, depending on how much you apply. I either apply it with a bronzer brush or a blusher brush.

Eye Shadow -Boots - No. 7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow in 25 Opal
rated 4 of 5
daniellealexandra 11/30/2011 7:10:00 AM

This eyeshadow in shade 65 "Truffle" came in a Boots freebie bag, and although I don't wear brown eyeshadow, if layered with purple, it gives a more toned down looked. It applies great and has a slight shimmer. The only reason why I wouldn't buy it again it because it's not my colour and No. 7 is quite expensive. Although, I may try a Stay Perfect Eyeshadow in a purple colour.

Liquid -Rimmel - Stay Matte Foundation
rated 1 of 5

I bought this because it said "Stay Matte", hoping it would stay and give a matte finish but it didn't. It gave quite a dewy finish and was a bit light on my skin. It didn't have "12 Hours Natural Shine Control", but it has got cucumber, chamomile and cotton in it which I guess is cooling and helps with blemishes.

Liquid -Maybelline - Pure Mineral Liquid Foundation
rated 2 of 5

I bought it because it said "oil free" and I have oily skin so I was expecting a shine free finish but it didn't deliver. After about two hours, even with powder and primer on it still left me looking shiny. The only redeeming quality is the pump and the fact it has SPF 18 in it, but it's just not for me/my skin type.

Eyeliner -New York Color - Eyeliner Duet- Through the Storm (886A)

Thank goodness I didn't pay much for it, it's an awful product. The black end just about goes on but it's not as black as other eyeliners. The purple end is difficult to apply and barely shows up so I just use black eyeliner with purple eyeshadow.

Mascara -Clinique - High Impact Mascara
rated 2 of 5

A sample size of this (40 oz) came free with Glamour magazine and although it's lasted a long time, it's not strong enough to use on it's own, and I had to layer it with better mascaras.

Blush -Boots - No 7 Blusher in Honey Blush
rated 4 of 5
daniellealexandra 11/29/2011 6:38:00 PM

First came across this colour in a No. 7 palette, and it's my favourite blush colour so far. This light brown shade is the right colour for someone who's starting to use blush. Overall, it's perfect for a splash of colour on the cheeks. The only downside is the fact that the clear plastic window broke on the packaging, so now it can't go in my makeup bag, as it's exposed.

Primer/ Corrector -Boots - No7 Shine Free Make-Up Base
rated 2 of 5

I have a love/hate relationship with this primer, in the sense that I'm not overly keen on it but I have no idea what other primer to try. It says to use with moisturiser but my face gets really shiny so I try not to moisturise my face too often. Putting it on without moisturiser however is difficult -- it's quite difficult to spread and sometimes leaves streaks which are hard to blend. It's a great eyelid primer though, and the colour really shows up. I always buy this one because it's the only one I know and I'm looking to try a new one that's probably cheaper.

Mascara -Collection 2000 - Extreme Lengthening Mascara
rated 5 of 5
daniellealexandra 11/29/2011 3:15:00 PM

This is a must have in my make up box; it's thick but not clumpy, vibrant (as well as black, also comes in purple, blue and teal) and great value for money. It's usually £2.99 or 2 for £5. Probably the best mascara I've ever used and cute packaging too.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Satellite Dreams
rated 5 of 5
daniellealexandra 11/29/2011 2:55:00 PM

A gorgeous purple that really brings out the green in my hazel eyes. I use it on my lids and underneath my bottom lashline paired with MAC's Stars N Rockets on my brow bone. Perfect for both a day and night look.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Stars N Rockets
rated 5 of 5

This was my first ever MAC purchase and this one really caught my eye. Although I initially bought it to go on my lids, it's too light (I like a dark/vibrant eye for both day & night) so I've started using it on my brow bone with Satellite Dreams on my lids for a perfect purple eye.

Foundations -Maybelline - Dream Matte Mousse
rated 4 of 5
daniellealexandra 11/29/2011 12:25:00 PM

Bought this today because liquid foundation always goes shiny, no matter how much primer & powder I use. I got it in “Cameo” as my other Maybelline foundation is that shade. I was always dubious about trying it as my mum bought it when it first came out and said it was awful, but I’ve heard rave reviews from other people. It applies and blends like a dream, with great, even coverage. And you don’t even need to apply much for a flawless finish.
