Lip Gloss -MAC - Sorberry Lipglass Tasti
rated 4 of 5
dangerous 6/5/2004 12:22:00 AM

This gloss is pretty similar on my lips as it looks in the tube - a slightly deeper than raspberry red, with a fair amount of red and bronze shimmer. I love the color, and don't mind the berry flavor and scent. The shimmer gives the gloss a 3D like dimension.

I prefer gloss in a tube rather than a wand, so this should be the perfect gloss for me (if I'm allowed to be a bit picky, I would like a slanted tip better). It's not as frosty as the other colors in this collection, and isn't overly sticky. The price is great for what you get (it contains the equivalent of 3 lipglasses for the price of one).

The only problem with this gloss (and why I'm deducting 1 lippie) is because it numbed my lips. Most lowend glosses have a numbing, or tingling effect on my lips, but I've never been affected by a MAC gloss this way until now. It's sad, because I love this color, but numb lips aren't worth it.

As a side note, this looks almost exactly like Fresh Moroccan l/s covered with a clear gloss. The Sorberry has just a hint more plum to it, which wasn't noticeable on my lips, only on the tissue which I used to wipe off the gloss. Since it's LE, I figured I'd give an equivalent so once it's gone (or if it numbs your lips too), you can duplicate the color.

Skincare - Face -Beyond Belief - Gentle Skin Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
dangerous 6/4/2004 5:36:00 PM

This is a review for the Beyond Belief Vitamin C Splash Off Foaming Facial Wash (it is a gentle skin cleanser, and there is no product by that name sold anymore).

This cleaner is fantastic! I've been using Purpose gentle cleaner and it works well. Almost too well, my skin is a bit dry after using it. That's ok for the night when I slap on a ton of moisturizer, but I hate to do that to my skin in the AM.

Anyhow, while the Purpose cleans my makeup well, and is REALLY cheap, I've been trying to find a new AM cleaner that is less drying and smells better. I tried samples of 3 of Shiseido's foaming cleaners (from the oily, normal, and dry skin lines), and while they foamed well, and smelled great, they were a bit drying as well as MONGO expensive!

I was in Sally's one day getting the Beyond Belief Vitamin C scrub, and found a coupon for the Vit C products - buy 2 get one free. I was going to buy 2 scrubs anyhow, so I picked out this foaming cleaner figuring I'd have nothing to loose. After only a couple days of using it, I returned one of my facial scrubs for another bottle of this wash!

This stuff smells wonderful, foams well, doesn't require much product (a pea sized amount seems good), and isn't a bad price (regular price is $4.99 for 3.5 oz). On sale, this cost me less than $1 per oz. Not bad considering the Shiseido is $5-$7 per oz.

The package says it contains: vitamins A, E, and C, Ginkgo, and Ginseng, and isn't tested on animals. The package says avoid eyes, so I don't know how this would work on removing makeup. I use a makeup remover towelette first anyhow, so it's not a huge issue to me. I've accidentally gotten a bit near my eyes, and it didn't hurt any more than the Purpose wash which is fine for eyes, so it might work, but use at your own risk. The package does say it cleans waterproof makeup.

I just wet my face with my hands, put a pea sized amount on my Shiseido facial brush (which is unnecessary, but a fun thing to have), and scrub away. This cleaner seems to rinse away better than the other cleansers I've used too - no soapy film left behind. From what I can tell, this product does not contain SLS. It doesn't say soap free, but I think it is.

Now I'm wondering what other hidden gems I'm missing out on from this line. Hmmmmm......

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lipglass in Prrr
rated 5 of 5
dangerous 5/11/2004 11:33:00 AM

If you don't like frost, run away from Prrr. It's a peach/pink based color, with LOADS of frost. I think it's a beautiful color, but I like the frost. It really adds a soft pearlized look to my lips. To me, this is a much more summery looking l/g.

This gloss is really frosty, so if you aren't afraid of a little pearlized frost on your lips, give it a try. If you really don't like that frosty look, try Enchantress instead.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lacquer- Poco Pink
rated 5 of 5
dangerous 5/10/2004 2:25:00 PM

This lacquer is my favorite so far! It's a pink with fine gold shimmers that looks insanely glossy on my lips. It's really a pretty soft color, and looks great with a dramatic eye.

I can see how not everyone will like this because of the lacquer's thick, sticky texture. However, if you don't mind the MAC lacquer texture, the color is fantastic! Since I'm used to wearing gloss, the stickiness doesn't bother me in the least, but even if it did, I'd put up with it for this beautiful color.

It's color is very similar to Nymphette in the tube, but the pink and gold both seem more intense on my lips. Not overly gold or pink, but a nice blend of the two topped with a glassy sheen. Now, all I need to do is find this in lipstick form, and I'll have the trifecta of gloss, lacquer and l/s!

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lustreglass in Decorative
rated 3 of 5
dangerous 5/9/2004 12:50:00 PM

I'm really torn on what rating I should give this product. The color is BEAUTIFUL (deep red / purple)! Exactly the color I've been looking for. So, for looks of the gloss, I give it a 5.

The problem with this product, at least on my lips, is that it wouldn't stay put. It seemed to slide right off of my lips, and bleed onto my face. I've never had this problem with a gloss before. I was wearing a liner, and this gloss marched right over that, and settled around my mouth. I wasn't eating, talking, or doing anything weird, but 5 minutes after I applied it, it had all moved around on my face. Normally, I'm pretty good with gloss too, I don't loose it when I eat food or drink something, so this migrating gloss was really out of the norm for me. For wear ability I give it a 1.

That plus the 5 I gave it for looks averages out to the 3 rating I gave the gloss overall. I guess if you can get past the slimy texture this has and if it stays put on your lips, then it's great. Just beware this might slide around your face.

Toners -Lancome - Tonique Douceur
rated 5 of 5
dangerous 5/8/2004 11:19:00 PM

I LOVE this stuff! I was using the Clinique #2 toner (I didn't know any better), and it BURNED so bad! After finding this site, I realized I wanted something alcohol free. Since I hate being wasteful, I continued to use my Clinique paint stripper, I mean clarifying lotion #2 until I couldn't stand it any more. While on vacation I realized my nightly Clinique torture had to end, and since the Lancome counter had a GWP I figured I'd give this a shot. This toner is fantastic! Very mild, yet my face feels cleaner after using this than my Clinique. I highly recommend this to anybody with combo skin who wants a alcohol free toner. Right now this is my HG toner. I'm still planning on trying the Paula's Choice toner, but it's got some stiff competition!

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Les 4 Ombres-Vanites Quad
rated 1 of 5
dangerous 5/8/2004 10:46:00 PM

I had a MA apply these shadows during a Chanel makeover. I really liked the colors, but these shadows creased like crazy on me! I don't normally have a problem with creasing, and the MA even used the concealer on my lids as a base. Maybe that was the problem, she said that the concealer would prevent creasing. Anyhow, after about 2 hours there was significant creasing, and after 4 hours, the only shadow left was in the crease. I don't have this problem with any other shadows. Definitely try before you buy!

Lip Liners -MAC - Lipliner- Mahogany
rated 5 of 5
dangerous 5/6/2004 2:33:00 AM

I never really liked O until I got this liner. Now, I'm totally in LOVE with this and O. It's not the most versatile color I own, but it makes a big difference in the looks some of my l/s. I have a TON of liners, but if I had to pick the top in MAC, this would definitely be near the top (with Plum, Whirl, and Half Red).

Lip Liners -MAC - Dervish Lip Pencil
rated 3 of 5
dangerous 5/6/2004 2:17:00 AM

Ehhh. This liner I could take or leave. I agree with peaches85 in how similar this is to cedar. Personally, I wouldn't rebuy this because I like cedar a bit more, but, if you really like cedar, but dislike the brown tones in it, this would be a good choice for you. I just don't see enough difference on my lips for me.

Lip Liners -MAC - Whirl

Perfect, perfect liner. It was described to me as spice without the orange, and that's exactly how it looks on my lips (I'm NW20). I wear it with VGV, sequin, and any neutral/nude pinkish or brownish l/s or l/g.

Lip Liners -Prestige - Waterproof Lipliner - Natural
rated 5 of 5
dangerous 4/16/2004 11:15:00 AM

The Prestige natural liner is a wonderful nude color. It's the exact color of Lancome's Bronzelle. Seriously it's exactly the same. The Prestige waterproof liners are the EXACT same as the Lancome Le Lipstique. Same size, both made in Germany, both have lot numbers stamped on the same place, everything is the same except for the lip brush on the end, and the $15 price difference. If you want more reviews of this color or pencil, go to the Lancome Bronzelle review, and smile with the knowledge that you have just saved $15. Actually, instead of saving $15, buy 3 additional liners. They are that good. I'm off to buy more Prestige!!!

Loose Powders -Clinique - Gentle Light powder [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
dangerous 3/27/2004 1:35:00 AM

I LOVE this powder. The packaging is great, and the quality is fantastic! It adds a really subtle glow to the face and doesn't give an overly sparkled look. I use it in glow 3, and will continue to use it as long as Clinique makes it! Definitely my HG powder!

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lip Lacquer in Varneesh
rated 5 of 5
dangerous 3/23/2004 3:29:00 PM

This is my favorite Lip Lacquer. It's a beautiful peachy pink with bronze, and pinkish shimmer undertone. I like the brush applicator much better than the sponge wand on the lip glasses. All the lip lacquers I've tried have wonderful staying power, and you get a good amount for the price! A great product!

Lip Gloss -MAC - Enchantress Lipglass
rated 5 of 5
dangerous 3/23/2004 3:16:00 PM

On my lips, enchantress is a more peach version of Nymphette. Enchantress is a pinky tinged peach with gold, and Nymphette is a peachy tinged pink with gold. Pretty, but I prefer Prrr for a peachy gloss.

Edited to say: Rating upgraded to 5. I'm really liking this gloss more and more. I still reach for Prrr a bit more often, but this gloss is different enough from Prrr that there is room in my heart for both of them! Enchantress, Prrr, and Nymphette are all somewhat similar, and for people who just want a light colored peachy/pinky gloss, any of these would work well. However, for makeup obsessives like me, all 3 are different enough to warrant owning. They all have a similar base coloring, but Enchantress has a peachy gold tinged focus, Nymphette is gold and pink on the lip, and Prrr is frost, frost and more frost.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Oh baby
rated 5 of 5

Oh baby gives a gorgeous nude lip. The glitter in the tube is very subtle on the lip, and isn't gritty at all. One of MAC's best!
