Top/Base Coats -Butter London - Hardwear PD Quick Topcoat
rated 5 of 5

Yes! My new favorite topcoat! I've used Seche Vite for years, and always hated how it gets thick and goopy SO fast. It also made my nail polish peel off like crazy. I'm so glad I discovered this, the entire Butter London line is just outstanding. Love how you get more than the standard 0.5 oz. Will definitely repurchase when I run out

Polishes -Butter London - All Hail the Queen
rated 5 of 5
cmyklamb 3/28/2012 5:38:00 PM

Very unique color - this is like a more amped up disco version of Yummy Mummy. Both are super flattering and apply beautifully. I do need 3 coats for this, but the formula is so superb that it never feels thick or goopy. Lasts a week without chipping when used with the matching base and top coat. Perfect nude color for all-year round. I do, however, prefer Yummy Mummy slightly more.

Polishes -Butter London - Yummy Mummy
rated 5 of 5
cmyklamb 3/28/2012 5:35:00 PM

As with all Butter London polishes, the formula is amazing and lasts a whole week with no chipping when used in conjunction with the base and topcoat also from Butter London. Yummy Mummy is very similar to All Hail the Queen, except without all of the shimmers. It has a slight silvery sheen that is only visible up close. It is on the sheer side so I have to use 3 coats for a completely opaque finish. But the formula is not at all thick or goopy so even with 3 coats it still looks very smooth. Now the color - amazing light taupe that is just universally flattering on all skintones. It just makes my hands look brighter and more polished. Perfect all year round, just a no-brainer polish that I grab when I don't want to think about what color to wear. This is my HG nude polish!

Toners -Nuxe - Ultra Mild Alcohol Free Toner
rated 3 of 5
cmyklamb 3/28/2012 5:18:00 PM

I believe this is also called the "Toning Lotion with 3 Roses". I prefer my toners to be watery instead of thick and gel-like so this has the perfect consistency. It has a rather strong floral scent but not unpleasant. It does a pretty good job of removing any remaining makeup residues on my face and is quite hydrating for such a watery toner. However, it leaves a slightly sticky film on my face afterwards that is kind of annoying. The packaging is also a bit difficult to use, when you pour out the liquid it leaks a little bit around the opening. I probably won't repurchase this.

Moisturizers -Nuxe - Creme Fraiche de Beaute Suractivee (for normal skin)
rated 5 of 5
cmyklamb 3/28/2012 5:09:00 PM

This is a brilliant cream with superb moisturizing properties. I use this only at night because it is very moisturizing and can be a bit heavy. The texture is like a lovely whipped mousse, it may look and feel very thick when you first scoop it out, but as you blend it just emulsifies and melts into the skin. It is scented, as with all of Nuxe's products, but it is very subtle and has a nice, soothing herbal scent. This does not break me out and makes my skin so radiant in the morning. I wake up with my skin feeling plumped and hydrated. It is a must for the wintertime or a dry climate. Although the heavy glass jar feels nice, I have to say a pump would be so much better. I use a little spatula to scoop some out, and I recommend this method rather than using fingers not only for sanitary reasons, but also because the texture of this is kind of fluffy and bouncy, so it kind of moves around when you try to scoop it with your finger. A spatula is definitely necessary in this case.

Cleansers -Nuxe - REVE DE MIEL Face Gentle Cleansing Gel
rated 3 of 5
cmyklamb 3/28/2012 5:01:00 PM

I love the Nuxe skincare line, but this product is just meh. It performs as a very average gel cleanser. I do like how gentle it feels and that it does not foam up and leaves my face feeling clean. I have dry skin so it does leave it feeling a bit tight, but I immediately follow up with toner so it's not a big deal. The packaging is also great with a pump. The one thing I cannot stand is the heavy scent. It smells like sweet honey mixed with flowers, I think it would smell lovely if it were more subtle and toned down, but the scent is soooo heavy that I have to hold my breath when I'm washing my face. It gets a little nauseating sometimes. Would not repurchase.

Moisturizers -Dr. Hauschka - Quince Day Cream
rated 5 of 5
cmyklamb 3/28/2012 4:53:00 PM

Amazing cream! I have dry combination and sensitive skin so I am always looking for a product that would provide enough hydration throughout the day without making me look greasy or cause breakouts. I also work indoors in an air-conditioned environment all day, so it has to keep my skin moisturized throughout the entire time. This cream is light-weight but intensely moisturizing. I love the texture - not too thick and not too watery, and blends beautifully into the skin. It takes a few minutes to fully sink in, but after it does my skin feels soft and velvety, and most importantly, it stays that way the entire day!! No more dry flakes on my cheeks, and my primer and foundation go on so much better on top of this. Note that I also use 2 different serums underneath this so if you are ONLY relying on this for hydration, it may not be enough if you have extremely dry skin. I also wouldn't recommend this if you have oily skin, the Rose Day Cream may be a better fit. The price is very reasonable for such a high quality product. The only complain I have is the L'Occitane hand cream-like packaging. It's sanitary but not the easiest to use. I would much prefer a pump bottle. But I'm willing to overlook that and repurchase as long as it continues working for me!

Lipstick -Guerlain - Guerlain Rouge G Le Brilliant in Bella (B63)
rated 4 of 5
cmyklamb 3/28/2012 4:43:00 PM

Gorgeous packaging, as with all Rouge G lipsticks. The Le Brilliant line is supposed to be more sheer and glossy than the regular line. Bella is a beautiful light coral shade that's super fun and pretty for spring and summer. This is definitely on the sheer side so I have to swipe several times for the color to build up on my lips. Even though it is sheer and glossy, it is not gloppy and does not slide around like other similar type of lipsticks. The formula is superb and is surprisingly long-lasting. As much as I love this lipstick, I would not repurchase this because the color is not very unique and it's painfully expensive.

Eye Shadow -Christian Dior - 5 Colour Eyeshadow - 705 Beige Massai (formerly Discretion)
rated 5 of 5
cmyklamb 3/28/2012 4:37:00 PM

Hands down, my absolute favorite eyeshadow palette of all time, across all brands. It's Dior so you know the texture and pigmentation do not disappoint. Smooth, silky and packed with pigment, but in a subtle and sophisticated way. To some it may look boring and blah in the pan, but trust me these colors are so brilliantly selected to suit those with warm undertones (I have light to medium skintone with yellow undertones). The four corner shades (light apricot, bone, russet and tan beige) all have this cross between a matte and a satin finish - not completely flat but with very subtle hints of a sheen. The light bone color is perfect as a natural highlight shade. Finally, the gorgeous chocolate brown in the middle is a shimmery shade but not over the top. All of the colors, when applied, create this natural sheen on the eyes that looks so pretty and sophisticated. This is one of the rare Dior palettes where I can feel comfortable wearing all 5 shades and have each one blend seamlessly into the other. I'm so sad that Dior discontinued this, I am already thinking about hoarding what remaining backups there may be left from eBay, and I'm anywhere near finishing this! Yes this is pricey as with all Dior palettes, but for the amount of product you get it is quite a good buy.

Cleansers -Mario Badescu - Enzyme Cleansing Gel
rated 5 of 5
cmyklamb 1/6/2010 2:26:00 AM

Amazing amazing cleanser that does not strip my skin of moisture (it's non foaming) but also cleans very well. Leaves my skin feeling very refreshed and soft, and has a really fresh, "green" scent, smells almost like freshly cut grass to me. It is very inexpensive at $12 for a large 8 oz. bottle, it lasts me almost a whole year! My absolute favorite cleanser, will continue to repurchase!

Lipstick -Cover Girl - TruShine - Blushberry Shine 415 [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
cmyklamb 6/4/2007 5:27:00 PM

I think I have found my HG lipstick. Who would've thought that a cheap drugstore lipstick could be so fantastic?? On me this is the perfect YLBB color. Everytime I think I've got the perfect YLBB color it always turns out too brown, or too nude, or too peachy and not enough rose. This is a very sheer neutral rose color that I imagine can look great on a wide range of skin tones even though it is advertised as a color for lighter skinned people. I have medium skin with yellow undertones with pretty pigmented lips, and this color matches it PERFECTLY. I heard that it is similar to NARS Dolce Vita but I have not tried that one and for the price of 6.99, I think I will keep on buying this instead of trying out the NARS one and possibly falling in love with that one too. I love the feel of these lipsticks, sheer, glossy, and very moisturizing. I also have it in Nude Shine and although it is a pretty nude color, I definitely like Blushberry better for everyday wear. I think Covergirl has really outdone itself with this line.

Cleansers -DHC - Washing Powder
rated 5 of 5
cmyklamb 5/27/2007 2:47:00 AM

What a fun product!! I always feel like a little kid using this cleanser and adding water and feel it as it turns from powder to a creamy lather. In addition the price just can't be beat. It's only sale right now for only around $7 so grab it while you can. I use this after the cleansing oil and it is the best combo I've ever used for my skin. I will continue to use this as long as it continues to produce great results and give me smooth and glowing skin.

Cleansers -DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil
rated 4 of 5
cmyklamb 5/27/2007 2:44:00 AM

My HG makeup removing cleanser. At first I felt so gross rubbing oil on my face but I quickly got used to it and the result really convinced me that this product is totally worth the hype. I have never tried the Shu version but at a fraction of the price, I don't ever plan on doing so. This made my skin feel soooo smooth and soft and removes literally ALL traces of makeup including waterproof mascara. After this I don't think I will ever use a separate eye makeup remover anymore, which is such a hassle. I use the washing powder after this and my skin feels phenomenal, and it's never looked better.

Cleansers -Paula's Choice - Hydralight One Step Face Cleanser - Normal to Oily/Combination Skin
rated 4 of 5
cmyklamb 5/27/2007 2:41:00 AM

A very good, gentle, non-irritating cleanser that does a prett good job at removing makeup and cleaning. It's a very standard cleanser that just feels a lot more "pure" than most other cleansers out there because it's not scented at all, and feels very fresh on the face and rinses well. I like it because it doesn't make my skin feel grimey after using it which is very important so I know that it does not clog my pores.

Blush -Cargo - BeachBlush- Miami Beach
rated 5 of 5
cmyklamb 5/27/2007 2:32:00 AM

You just cannot go wrong with Cargo blushes, they are some of the BEST blushes I've ever tried. And this one is fastly becoming my favorite. This blush definitely beats Coral Beach out of the running, first of all, it doesn't have any orange tone in it which makes it extremely wearable, and second, the colors are gorgeous! When applied it gives me a very pretty sunkissed glow that's sort of bronze and peachy (some people say it's more of a berry but my skin tends to turn whatever blush I put on into a peach color so it could work as a light berry color for people with lighter skintones) Especially in the summer when I've got a little tan going on, it makes me look so healthy and glowing with the shimmer and soft wash of color. Definitely one of my favorite blushes ever.
