Polishes -OPI - Russian Navy
ckn23 3/31/2012 2:36:00 AM
My new fave NP *EVER* Quality: Very easy to apply. Thinner than most NPs, but two coats was perfect. Consistency was great, applies like a dream, lasts (like all my OPIs) very very well. Great brush as per all full-sized OPIs. Colour: In the bottle, this looks like a dark purple. I received this in a swap, and I was kinda dissapointed because I wanted a navy colour! But once I applied, I was in heaven. On the nails, this is not purple, it is navy. But when you look closely, you can see blue and red shimmers, absolutely gorgeous. I am in love. I always tend to get new collection shades, but I have to keep in mind that the classics are great too!

Primer/ Corrector -MAC - Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF 50
ckn23 3/31/2012 2:31:00 AM
I loved this product. It worked so well as both a primer and an SPF (although I used sunscreen under it because no-one wears enough primer to actually protect for UV rays). Anyway, that wasnt the issue. The issue was that it broke me out horribly. In fact, I was in denial that this was the cause for quite a while because I loved it so much, but just after stopping it my skin suddenly got so much better. So very sad. I guess be careful if you are acne-prone/sensitive to silicones. If you aren't, then buy this!! I have a very oily T-zone and a very dry (flaky) cheeks, and this evened out everything wonderfully. Great product, but didn't work for me.

Blush -NARS - Deep Throat
ckn23 3/31/2012 2:28:00 AM
So, the reviews for this product speak for themselves. Like all Nars blushes that I've tried, this is of great quality. In fact, the pigmentation is so extreme that you really have to be careful not to overdo it! I have NW15 (or paler) skin, and this looks really good on me, although as I said, very easy to overdo so use a light hand! (especially if you are very pale like me) *EDIT* After expanding my blush collection and trying other brands out, I have realised that NARS blushes aren't actually that good (at all). I ended up getting rid of this, because it was going on patchy and wouldn't blend easily on my skin

Styling Products -Schwarzkopf - Osis+ Dust it mattifying powder

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet. This is my HG product for volume. I have not found anything better - and I have tried a lot. This gives you awesome volume, and although it doesnt last all day, it is reworkable. I love it. I have several backups.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - Professionnel Volume Extreme
ckn23 2/27/2012 6:27:00 AM
This is the best that I have so far found in voluminising shampoos - it doesnt actually give any volume as such, but it doesn't weigh my hair down (like a lot of non-volumising shampoos do), and it doesnt dry it out and make it feel like straw either (like most volumising shampoos do). I will keep trying to find something better, being the optimist that I am, but I can always fall back on this if my search doesn't work out. To the less important things - smells nice, lathers nicely, functional packaging, lasts a while.

Styling Products -TiGi - Catwalk Root Boost
ckn23 2/27/2012 6:22:00 AM
I have tried a million root boosters out there, and this one is as good as any other one has been. However, I still have mixed feelings. I feel like there should be a root lifter out there that can give me impressive volume and body for at least a whole day - now, I might be asking for a lot, but this is what I am on the search for. A 10 being VS model hair volume, and 1 being flat hair - this product gives me a 6 to begin with, and at the end of the day I come home to a 3. Unfortunately, this is the best I have gotten with other products too (Matrix root boost was similar, and others were worse). Still worth it, but may keep looking for something better.

Polishes -OPI - Save Me
ckn23 2/27/2012 6:12:00 AM
I LOVE THIS! Although it takes 4 coats to get an opaque layer, it looks so sparkly and beautiful in the end! Got lots of compliments with this one. One thing though - it is a b**ch to take off! (my advice - use the aluminium foil method)

Hair -TiGi - Rockaholic Dry Shampoo
ckn23 2/27/2012 6:06:00 AM
Unfortunately, this just doesn't do much to my hair. It has a citrus-y smell, so it makes it smell clean and nice, but other than that it has no effect. My hair doesn't look cleaner after using this, and I don't get any extra body in my hair.

Treatments (Eye) -Clarins - Sun Wrinkle Control Eye Contour Care SPF 30
ckn23 10/19/2011 3:24:00 AM
This is great. I bought this because I got my first ever wrinkles below my eyes, and I started freaking out about UV rays etc. This product is a great moisturiser, feels light, doesnt give me milia, doesn't break me out. It is fine to put eye makeup over, but then again I always prime with Mac paintpot (which is great). Anyway, perfect product. quite expensive though, only downside.

Moisturizers -Ultraceuticals - Antioxidant Daily Moisturiser with SPF 30+
ckn23 10/17/2011 6:56:00 AM
My opinion of this is pretty simple: this is the best sunscreen available in Australia It is good because a) it has SPF30+ b) UVA and UVB protection, which is essential, c) does not leave a white cast, and d) is not greasy if you have normal/dry skin. When my skin got oilier though, it did start getting a bit greasy, so I think I am going to look for something better. I am going to Europe soon so I will look into the La Roche Posay Anthelios Xl because the reviews are quite impressive. However, no breakouts at all from this, which is pretty good for me. Does however bring out a bit of redness/rash on me. Bit expensive, but it is good. Packaging is very hygienic.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear
ckn23 10/13/2011 12:27:00 AM
The following review is based on the following factors, which are the things I look for in a foundation: 1. Durability My morning routine goes something like this - cleanse, moisturise+SPF, put on foundation with a stippling brush, do eyes, then blush, then blend. I do my makeup at 6am. This is the only foundation that has ever, ever lasted so well on my face all day long! I got home at 8pm last night and it still looked fresh (sure, a bit of oiliness had come through, and it wasnt quite as flawless as in the morning, but SO much better than any other product I have tried, and I've tried MANY! It also helps keep my blush on forever. 2. Texture At first I thought I was making it up, but it felt kinda sticky. Then I went to use my makeup brush again and it was confirmed, I forgot to clean it for one day and it was kinda sticky! Lol, it must be how this gets it's long-lasting effect. To be honest, I don't really care, it isn't enough to put me off. 3. Result With a stippling brush, it creates a flawless application. Somewhere between matte and glowy, not one or the other, the perfect in-between. Perfect coverage, I get lots of redness, acne, acne scars, and it covered it all. 4. Skin tolerance I have super sensitive, dry/oily combo skin, acne prone, and currently on topical isotretinoin for acne (which makes skin flaky). I am amazed to say that so far, it has not triggered any kind of reaction, one way or the other! I was concerned at first because it is so hard to remove (again, this stuff is like glue), and I thought I would break out because of it, but I haven't so far (will update if I do). 5. Colour match I got the shade Ecru, which is unfortunately kinda too dark/orange for me. They really dont have the best range of colours which makes me sad! 6. Finish Unfortunately, this is too heavy/cakey on me. It does give an extremely full coverage, and I guess I am not after that effect. It also *feels* heavy on my face, which I dislike. I much prefer the ELDWL version to this, because of this reason. However, if you are someone with oily skin that likes a full coverage, by all means try this out!

Blush -MAC - Mocha blush
ckn23 10/12/2011 6:52:00 AM
This blush is a lovely colour, and quite pigmented. If you are pale like me, I recommend layering the product very finely, because it can be a bit overpowering if you use too much (although it is fixable by blending out). However, unfortunately, MAC blushes just DO NOT LAST on my skin. I don't know *how*, (I don't have this problem with any other brand), but MAC blushes just fade after a few hours! Therefore, I have given up on them

Blush -MAC - Melba
ckn23 10/12/2011 6:46:00 AM
When I first tried this, I thought the colour was too orange/brown for my very pale skin (nw15-20). However, I then realized that I was using too much, since this product is super pigmented it requires a lot less on application than other blushes I own. This blush is probably the best looking warm/tan colour that I can use without looking dirty or orange (however, if I use too much it definitely gets that dirtiness about it). If you are pale like me just make sure you layer it slowly to get more control over the application :) However, unfortunately, MAC blushes just DO NOT LAST on my skin. I don't know *how*, (I don't have this problem with any other brand), but MAC blushes just fade after a few hours!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint Pot in Painterly
ckn23 10/12/2011 6:34:00 AM
I still cannot believe how amazing this product is. As my first ever paint pot, I am truly shocked at how long-lasting it is! It does not shift, at all, throughout the whole day! I put on my makeup before 6am, and then I will get home and shower after a hot humid day, and it will still be on after cleansing my face in the shower! But then I just use eye makeup remover and it comes off very easily, no rubbing required. I have very sensitive eyes, so that is important. On a normal day, I wear this as a primer (and also to conceal annoying dark veins around my eyes), and then I wear a nars duo over the top. and it looks as good as it did at 6am at 8pm, which is exactly what i want in an eye primer. perfect!

Highlighters -NARS - Highlighting Blush Powder in Albatross
ckn23 10/7/2011 5:40:00 AM
I bought this unsure of what to expect. It is my first highlighter, and I am impressed! I use it to highlight under my brows, the cupids bow, and cheeks. It leaves a wonderful shimmery golden glow. I love this. I will repurchase if I ever need to, because I use such a tiny amount and I don't know if I will ever reach the bottom of the pan! But my god, so expensive (in Aus). *EDIT* I actually ended up getting rid of this, after realising that it is a bit OTT on me. I prefer more subtle highlighters, such as theBalm MLM
