I really like this. Yes, it's expensive and the container is smaller than most other foundations. Yet, it's cute and portable. I bought shade #2 online based on reviews here and it's a great match. It's a light, neutral beige. (I'm #5 in GA LSF). It goes on smoothly and looks like real skin. It kinda reminds me of Prescriptives Virtual Skin (that I used in the 90s). I especially like that there's no fragrance and no sunscreen. (Since my skin is very sensitive, I prefer to use a separate sunscreen). It looked pretty fresh all day without a lot of shine. Not sure if this will be moist enough for winter, when I'm really dry but it's great now.
This feels soothing to my skin even when my eczema is flaring up. My skin is very dry in the winter but can get shiny in Summer. This doesn't make it feel oily or greasy at all, just smooth and soothed.
Eyeliner -Giorgio Armani - la femme bleue long wear eyeliner

I am a big GA fan and I have bought 2 of the #2 and 1 of the black. Wish I could be totally in love but I'm not. Love the brown color for me. It's a cool brown with just a tiny hint of shimmer (somehow different from the shimmer in BB gel liners). It's a very flattering color. Neutral but not boring. I love the ease of use. It does glide on easily and smoothly. You can sharpen it and get a very fine point to make a very fine line. The black is very black. I feel it's too harsh for me for a daytime look but I could see it working for others. Cons - I find it doesn't last that long on me. At my age my eyelids are not that oily. I use BB cream eye shadow as a base. I line my top lids with this pencil and then use powder eye shadow over the whole lid. Even if I wait 5 to 10 minutes to curl my eye lashes, some of the pencil comes off onto the curler. (This doesn't happen with chanel's le stylo in cassis or BB's gel liners). I also wouldn't say it's waterproof. If I rub my eye it will smudge. I'd love to know if there is a dupe for this.
I have been wearing BB's gel eye liners for years. I love the Black Plum. Lately I'm losing patience with the brush / gel thing and wanted a pencil that would go on easily. Cassis is it! The color is very very close to BB Black Plum. The staying power is comparable. Love it!
Blush -Yves Saint Laurent - Blush Variation # 19 Venetian Rose
citylady 1/1/2011 7:34:00 PM
Totally agree with the other reviewers. Love the packaging, love the smooth application & colors of this blush.
I have to agree with the other reviewers. I never really liked full coverage lipsticks. This feels like lip balm. the scent is pretty strong at first but then fades. Very moisturizing. Bourbon rose is a very natural color.
Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Black Out Mascara
citylady 9/29/2010 6:02:00 PM
I still like trying new mascaras. This one disappointed me. It's very black which I really like. It doesn't flake or smudge. It gives length & good volume but it's too clumpy. YSL faux cils & GA ETK are not clumpy like this.
Bronzers -Bobbi Brown - Illuminating Bronzing Powder in Antigua
citylady 9/27/2010 5:04:00 PM
I love this bronzer. It seems more like a blush color but it has a slight "bronzey" cast to it. When I wear it, it reminds me of the color my face used to turn (brownish pink?) at the beach back in my reckless youth before I started practicing safe sun. It has slight shimmer but not alot - just enough to give you a slight glow.
I wanted a deep almost black - green. This isn't it on me. It looks pretty bright, metallic green on me. I'm also very used to BB's gel eyeliners and am able to get a very thin line with them. Couldn't get that thin a line with this. It's nice that there's a built in sharpener at the other end. It definitely lasts very long - longer than any other pencil I've used.
Powder -Giorgio Armani - Lasting Silk UV Compact Foundation
citylady 7/21/2010 1:46:00 PM
Armani has done it again with a great natural looking foundation! Normally I don't go for powder foundations but I love this one. In the winter my skin is very dry and I don't this would work as well. However, in the heat & humidity of an NYC summer - this is perfect. I dampen a powder brush and use that to apply this silky powder. If you want more coverage you can apply with a sponge. It gives a radiant natural finish that seems to minimize pores and hold back shine a bit. (Not sure how you would like this if you're super oily). I bought this in #3 (I'm #5 in the LSF) and it's a great match. In the store #3 looked pinkish but in natural light it looks neutral.
Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Faux cils - noir radical
citylady 3/18/2010 10:04:00 AM
I will start by saying that I'm a big fan of the original faux cils. (I was using GA Eyes to Kill for a while but it just doesn't define my lashes as well). I really like the noir radical. It's a glossy black black. Maybe glossier than the original. I have sensitive eyes and it doesn't bother me. I don't detect a strong fragrance. I just get every lash defined & thickened. No smudging or flaking. I don't find it anymore difficult to remove than the original black faux cils. Edit: in Summer I have some under eye smudging. Disappointed because I really love the way my lashes look with this mascara. GA Eyes to Kill Excess gives a similar look and does not smudge.
Blush -Bobbi Brown - Sheer Color Cheek Tint in Sheer Raspberry
citylady 1/5/2010 6:02:00 PM
I have dry skin so I like a creamy blush in the winter. This color looks bright in the tube but it's sheer and pretty when it goes on. It's also nice to use my fingers to apply when I'm in a hurry. I like little tubes & compacts so the packaging appeals to me. I find it lasts through a long day. I wouldn't recommend it for someone with oily skin though and I don't think I would reach for it in the summer.
Primer/ Corrector -Giorgio Armani - Light Master Make-Up Primer
citylady 12/10/2009 1:56:00 PM
I like this much better than the Master Primer. That was too heavy and didn't do much for me. Have also tried Nars, LM, Smashbox and like this better. I like the subtle glow it gives and its versatility. Depending on my skin, my mood (and how late I am for work!) I have just put this on over moisturizer with my fingers, or mixed it with LSF & applied with foundation brush. Applied over moisturizer it really improved the look of my skin. I have a fear of looking too sparkly and this doesn't look sparkly, just luminous.
I just got this as part of the 2009 Holiday LE Mini Brush Set. I have tried McEvoy, BB, Chanel, Shu and this feels like silk on my lids. Applies eye shadow very smoothly.
Concealers -Christian Dior - Diorskin Nude Skin Perfecting Hydrating Concealer
citylady 12/2/2009 1:21:00 PM
The previous reviewers have done a great job of describing this. This is the concealer I'm reaching for regularly. I still like by Terry but I think this may be a tad more moisturizing. I tried Ivory and that's a little too light for me. 002 Beige is just right. Edit - I've since tried other concealers and lowered my rating a bit.
