I thought i`d really like this nudey pink polish, but was disapointed. The shade is a little bit sheer, so two coats give you good opaque coverage but its almost so close to the colour of my nail bed its hard to see where i`ve applied too much or too little. Which for me resulted in a few streaks, which i wasnt happy with! In the bottle this is such a lovely colour and i wanted to like it sooo much, but im a perfectionist and this wasnt going to cut it for me! Im not sure why, but all the light pink shades Chanel have made dont seem to be very flattering against my skin tone they almost make my hands look equally as pink!! Appication wise, the formula was of same great Chanel quality. So this polish is deffinately worth a go if your considering it,unfortunately just not one for me.
Polishes -Chanel - Le Vernis Nail Colour in Paradoxal #509
chanelohlic 8/19/2010 9:49:00 AM
Im always excited to hear when a new Chanel nail polish is coming out.....i knew there was a lot of hype about paradoxal BUT i hate the colour purple so i knew i wouldnt be buying this one! Or so i thought....the day it was launched i went in to check out the new stuff, expecting to buy Jade Rose....i saw paradoxal in the bottle and thought, nope too purple! However i then noticed the Chanel assistant had it on, and it looked nice. I ended up buying it. Once its on my nails its not at all as bright and sparkly as it looks in the bottle. Its a bit of a smokey aubergine shade, hard to pin point because its multi tonal depending on the light. Its just dark enough to make me like it.I thought it wouldnt go with much, but so far im quite liking it. It will be more suited to the winter months, when you just wanna jazz up an all black outfit. The application was great, goes on even with just one coat (but i always do two) and its a shade that seems to hold its shine with a top coat. I dont think i,ll buy again purely because this was completley out of the blue for me to actually like anything remotely purple and i dont think it,ll be a colour i,ll wear a lot after the seasons hype dies down.
I couldnt wait to get my hands on this perfume, i knew it was coming out even before the chanel counter girl did! I do my research!!! I`d say this is more of a summer fragrance because it is quite a light clean smell. Not quite as sweet as i was expecting, more of a powdery sweet! My first reaction was it smells a lot like marc jacobs daisy...which is a nice perfume i was just expecting something a little more original from chanel. However i will not be buying marc jacobs daisy again purely because this will be its replacement for me! Chanel wins everytime! I like that the liquid itself is a baby pink, subtle yet cute and summery. I tend to wear this more when im wearing white...strange i know but it somehow lends to the clean girly scent of the perfume! The only downfall i`ve noticed with this is....staying power! I find i have to re spray quite often, i know we all get used to a scent once its on so think its worn off, but with this i think it does. Whether this is because its so light i dont know. So im sure i`ll get through my bottle of this quicker than my other chanel perfumes, which are all much heavier.
Self Tanners -Chanel - Perfect Colour Face Self-Tanner SPF 8
chanelohlic 7/18/2010 7:50:00 AM
I have re-purchased this product time and again. I think it was around the twenty four pound mark when i last bought it,which is the going rate i think when compared to Clarins, Dior etc. This face self tanner has the most beautiful smell to it. It smells kind of warm and sweet...i am someone who loves products that smell good. It could be the greatest product in the world but if its fragrance free or smells bad i wont buy it!! The smell of this feels somewhat luxurious to me.The morning after applying i`ve only ever noticed the very faint smell of the inevitable self tanner ingredient, i`ve never found it to be an overpowering fake smell. This comes it two shades, Golden and Bronze. I always buy bronze now, i have bought golden in the past but there is hardly any difference between them at all!! The bronze is supposedly the darker of the two, but the only difference i`ve noticed is the Golden tends to look a bit yellow! The colour develops very naturally and the bronze is never too dark even for me who has quite a medium skin tone....so dont be put off when they tell you its the darker of the two. It also has all the moisturising qualities you would expect which is a bonus, just be sure to exfoliate your face before to remove any dead skin. However having said this i have never ever had ANY " muddy patches" with this product. I think this is because the cream texture is so light and easily absorbed! On my many trips to the states i found this product for the body too!!! Works brilliantly, same great smell....loved it! But.....we dont have it here in the U.K! Which i think is really poor, if their selling a face self tan it makes sense to sell a body one too. All the leading competitors do! This product also has an spf of 8, which yes is low but still good to have any at all as it is a "fake tan" product.
Tinted Moisturizer -Chanel - Hydramax tinted moisturiser SPF 15 SAND
chanelohlic 7/17/2010 4:05:00 PM
I wanted this tinted moisturiser as a summer alternative to foundation on those "casual" days when full on make up isnt needed. The packaging is a nice clean looking square tube, the only downfall of the packaging though is its hard to get the last of the product out! Its simply too hard too squeeze it out when you get to the last little bit. Sometimes i cut the bottle open at this stage to save wasting any product. But then theres no way of preserving the moisturisers freshness after cutting it open so a little waste is inevitable!! Im not sure if this moisturiser came in two or three shades, However sand is suitable for me as it gives a summer glow. If i were to use it all year round i`d buy a shade lighter. As the coverage is sheer concealer may be needed on any problem areas. I get quite an oily t-zone especially in the summer months so wasnt sure a hydrating product would be right for me, but even though this product is rich in texture it seems to sink straight in! It has a pleasent non chemical smell. When squeezed from the tube the colour could look a little scary but amazingly seems to disappear into the skin beautifully. It doesnt state on the back of the tube if its oil free or not but to me it doesnt slide off my oily patches,so even if it does have oil in it i think it would be worth anyone with combination skin trying. Its lasts for ages as you only need to use a little of it. I would re perchase when i need to because for something thats advertised as being hydrating it seems to do just that WITHOUT being greasy, heavy or taking ages to sink in!
Eyeliner -Chanel - Professional Eyeliner Duo La Ligne De Chanel
chanelohlic 7/17/2010 3:26:00 PM
This product has a 2 for price as it was bought quite a while ago and i cant remember how much i paid! Sorry! It comes in the same little packaging as the chanel single eyeshadows, this is ok because it has a little mirror on the inside of the lid and has room for the two tiny brushes that come with it. I always like to do a black flick above my eyelashes and usually use a liquid liner to give an intense finish but wanted to try this. One side is plain black, the other, black with sparkly bits in. The idea is you wet the brush, either the thin one for a thin line or the rounded foam brush for a thicker smudged effect. Once the brush is wet you pick up some of the product with it, the eyeliner itself is almost of a eyeshadow consistancey. I found the colour to look more grey than black on me. I prefer my black liners to be really black! Also even if i try not to overload the brush with product it still goes on quite thick which makes it harder to get an elegant flick on the upper lash line. I wouldnt buy this again because you get a much nicer finish with a thin brushed liquid liner!
Lip Treatments -Chanel - hydramax + active nutrition lip care
chanelohlic 7/17/2010 3:06:00 PM
I have given this a 2 for price purely because i cannot remember how much i paid for this! I believe it was twenty someting pounds!!!! Packaging is a cute little square pot, the lid is secure so ok for carrying in a handbag. I got exicted when i heard this product was first out and had to buy it. However was not overly impressed. Theres nothing awful about it but i was expecting it to maybe smell prettier and the texture to be more luxurious. It feels like any other lip balm when on. Yes it does make your lips feel moisturised and softer, but nothing thats any competition for other brands. I dont think i`d buy again, i think despite the size of the pot it will last me a while. If i were to ever perchase again it would be for the one and only reason....its chanel!!!!!
Makeup Brushes -Chanel - Foundation Brush (Synthetic Fibers)
chanelohlic 7/17/2010 2:55:00 PM
After years of applying my foundation with fingers i frequently toyed with the idea of trying a brush. I perchased the chanel one two days ago and im glad i did! Its not overly expensive, but for a brush i thought it was a little overpriced. However im told they last forever, so if this is true i am more than willing to pay over the odds. I like the finish this seems to give, my foundation seems to look somehow softer. Also i feel i use less foundation, which is good as every now and then you end up adding more product to your face and dont notice how thick it looks till your outside! The brush was easier to use than i thought it would be, which was a pleasent surprise. I thought it may take some getting used to! The things im not so keen on about this brush are.....why does it have to be synthetic? For the price and it being chanel i would have expected a genuine hair one. The other thing is i dont like the silver part of the handle, where the brush begins. Only a little thing i know, but i would have thought a complete black handle would have looked classier. Also it states on the care card not to get this part wet when cleaning the brush. Easier said than done! I think they`ve said this because the silver coloured bit will then tarnish! Not good! If anything happened to my brush, yes i would buy again.....it feels better than fingers and why use a cheap highstreet brush to apply expensive chanel products!!!!
To say i am a frequent chanel customer would be such an understatement!!! Chanel is all i buy when it comes to make up and skincare! When i first saw Rouge Noir years ago i fell in love instantly, its such a perfect, sexy, classy dark red. When doing my nails i ALWAYS use a base coat, two coats of colour and a high shine top coat. One thing i will say about Rouge Noir is the end result of the colour on nails is slightly darker than it looks in the bottle. With two thick coats the result is almost black, which isnt really what i want.As dark as possible but with a strong tint of wine red is how i want it. This is achievable if you apply the first coat quite thinly, then make the second coat thicker. The packaging as always with chanel is classic and sophisticated, which suites my taste. Colourful packaging e.g Benefit always look like teenagers make up to me Yes you could argue its on the expensive side, but if your going to buy chanel this is expected. The only downfalls of this product is i find it chips quite easily, and for some reason doesnt seem to hold the shine for long, even with top coat i find it somewhat mattes after a day or so. And i like my nails super shiny, so i end up re doing them. I continue to buy this over and over again, its the original classic dark red. Timeless and sexy, looks better when my nails are short and squared off.
