Blush -MAC - Dollymix
rated 3 of 5
cgw1 2/5/2013 1:14:00 PM

I have been dying to get my hands on dollymix for so long. I already have a ton of pink blushes, but none like this cool hot pink with shimmer blush. I have to say I was disappointed. To be fair, I'm suffering from a bad bout of acne, and dollymix just accentuates every pore and every flaw on my cheeks. Overlooking that aspect (which is more my skin's fault than anything), I think it was a little too cool for my skin. It just didn't look quite right. I didn't expect it to look natural as it's very bright, but it looked way too unnatural on me. I think this looks the best with tan or darker skin, but that's just me. As I've gotten older I've started to appreciate nude shades more, so this was just not for me.

Concealers -MAC - select cover-up
rated 5 of 5
cgw1 2/5/2013 1:03:00 PM

I have really bad cystic acne as a result of a medication I'm taking. I can't leave the house without at least concealer. I had been using Smashbox Camera ready concealer, but as my acne got worse, I realized I needed a thicker formula. Compared to MAC studio finish concealer (which I also own..and despise), Select cover up is much sheerer coverage, but that is what I love about it. Despite the fact that I have acne, I still want my skin to look like skin. I want to see my freckles and I don't want it to look caked on. Basically, I don't want full-coverage anything. Select cover up is a great light-medium coverage concealer. I wear NC20 and it's a perfect match. I first apply MUFE F&B all over with my hands, then dot select cover up on any blemishes and under eyes, then stipple/buff with an RT brush and set with MUFE HD finishing powder. My face ends up looking pretty flawless but still natural! I don't want to look like a mannequin. I use NC20 under my eyes even though I should be using NW20 for undereyes. I'm on a no-buy so NC20 under eyes does work for me, but I do not have dark undereye circles. All in all, I have found my favorite concealer. Lasts all day..even through an intense workout! Looks natural, which I love. If you're looking for full coverage, select cover up is not it. If you're looking for a natural looking concealer that you can build up to medium coverage, you might love this like I do.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Vanicream - Lite Lotion
rated 5 of 5
cgw1 2/2/2013 11:05:00 AM

I had to write a review about this moisturizer. I was very skeptical when buying this. I hadn't hear much about it, the bottle was ugly, and I was terrified it would break me out. I've been dealing with some bad acne as a result of medication, and I needed a moisturizer because my skin was flaking. This moisturizers without making me greasy, works great under foundation, and best of all it fades my acne scars! I couldn't believe it. Definitely recommend to acne sufferers

Eye Shadow -MAC - Haux Eye Shadow
rated 5 of 5
cgw1 2/1/2013 1:15:00 AM

I still can't believe I had never heard of this e/s until I swatched in store...haux must be underhyped because this e/s is incredible. At first I wasn't sure because it is pretty ugly in the pan and by itself on my lids it makes me look sickly (NC20 brown eyes). However, I don't feel like my look is pulled together until I use haux. I only use it as a crease transition shade and underneath my lashline. I use it to blur any harsh lines. I do a smokey eye everyday and haux, a beautiful rosey-brown makes my brown eyes pop and blurs my smokey eyes into perfection. I didn't think it would do anything for my brown eyes but it makes them more vibrant. I don't have a lot of neutrals in my stash, but now that I have haux I don't really want any more.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Smut Eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5
cgw1 2/1/2013 1:07:00 AM

I can't believe I thought about getting rid of this beauty. Smut was made for me. I have worn a smokey eye pretty much every day since I was 14. Smut makes the prettiest smokey eye that isn't as harsh as black. In fact it's so much prettier than a black smokey eye- it's grey with a tinge of purple. It brings out my brown eyes and makes them glow. It's so quick and easy: I pat smut on my lid and lower lashline, smudge lots of liner, and blend out any harsh lines with MAC haux. Perfect smokey eye. Photographs beautifully too! I'm so glad I kept smut.

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara
rated 3 of 5
cgw1 1/31/2013 11:25:00 AM

I'm giving this a 3, but I have repurchased and will continue to repurchase. It's not the perfect mascara. I'll be up front about this: If you don't like spikey spidery lashes, I wouldn't buy this mascara. I personally love thickness of spidery lashes. I realize I'm probably in the minority on this. My lashes are thin and short, and this definitely gives them volume but it also clumps a lot. It gives me no length however. I don't even notice the rose smell that much and it doesn't irritate my very sensitive eyes. I love the packaging ( i can be a brand h00r sometimes). This would probably be a better night time mascara for most people. The main reason I would repurchase is because I love the ritual of putting this mascara on. i can layer and layer and layer...it's really soothing in an odd way. I don't really get that from any other mascara I've tried. I understand why the rating for Diorshow is so low, but I truly love it!

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
rated 3 of 5
cgw1 1/28/2013 7:06:00 PM

I resisted buying this for a year. I kept telling myself I had enough neutrals and that I didn't need this palette. I finally gave in and bought it, but I wish I would have listened to my gut. I am conflicted about reviewing UD naked b/c the colors are beautiful and smooth, but not pigmented enough for my liking. Honestly, if I didn't already own so many eyeshadows, I would have adored this palette. I had to return it because I felt like I was forcing myself to use it and I was neglecting all the neutrals in my stash that I love. Here's my two cents: If you don't have an extensive e/s collection or not enough golds/neutrals go buy this palette! But, if you have enough e/s you love, I think this ud palette money could be invested elsewhere (like blush!).

Palettes -Too Faced - Boudoir Eyes Shadow Collection
rated 3 of 5
cgw1 1/28/2013 12:54:00 PM

In Ulta, this palette looked gorgeous. I'll admit, the promo pic is what enticed me to buy it. She had this gorgeous purple-grey smokey eye going on which insinuated that you could recreate that look with this palette. How wrong I was in assuming that...The colors are beautiful, but most of them are SO SHEER. I am NC20, so everything should be able to show up on me. I had to keep applying layers of the e/s so that it would show up, and then it just became a powdery mess. I will say the black sparkly eyeshadow is gorgeous though. Another thing I hate about these too Faced palettes is that there's so much fallout. The concept is great..a soft purply gray smokey eye.. but in reality it just does not translate onto my eyelids. I think if you're into the natural look you might like this palette. I returned it.

Bronzers -Too Faced - Peach Leopard
rated 4 of 5
cgw1 1/22/2013 11:19:00 PM

So..I'm kind of obsessed with this peach bronzer! I'm NC20 and I had been using Hoola, but it made my face look to flat. I picked this up at Ulta (I am a sucker for anything Leopard). I own Pink Leopard but dislike it because of how frosty it is. Peach leopard is not frosty. In fact, on me it shows up peach/bronze with a slight sheen. I can't believe how much it makes me glow! Sometimes I just stare in the mirror because I'm just glowing! I do use a kabuki to apply this as a fluffy blush won't pick up enough color. I don't think this will work for most skintones though. I think if you're much darker than me then you might have trouble with it showing up, but I could be wrong. I am pleasantly surprised by this purchase.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencil in Rehab
rated 3 of 5
cgw1 1/22/2013 11:13:00 PM

After reading the reviews on here and swatching it several times in person, I really thought this taupe cream e/s would make my brown eyes glow. Instead, as is the case with most taupes I try, it made me look dead and sickly (I'm NC20 for ref.) The formula is great, and I'm sure the color is great on some people, just not on me. Had to return this one.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - 24/7 Glide-on Shadow Pencil in Midnight Cowboy
rated 3 of 5
cgw1 1/22/2013 11:11:00 PM

I picked this up on a whim. It really is beautiful and true to its shadow counterpart. The faults of this product are entirely my own. I hate glitter. I can't handle it. This has no glitter fallout which is great. It just has too much glitter and I wasn't able to tone it down. I recommend getting lit over midnight cowboy if you dislike glitter as much as I do. I had no business purchasing this product. If you do like glitter, you will love this. It doesn't crease which is amazing. I'm giving this a three as it's a very good product just not for me.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - They're Real
rated 2 of 5
cgw1 1/17/2013 6:52:00 PM

First of all..why is the brush so damn spiky? Very dangerous. It's so scratchy it hurt me. It lengthened my lashes but separated them a little too much and gave me very little volume (I need volume!!). It also smudged on me which is a big no-no for me. I will stick with Maybelline The Colossal.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
rated 2 of 5
cgw1 1/15/2013 11:35:00 PM

Smeared EVERYWHERE. I tested it by wearing it when I went skiing...I literally had black all over my face. I do love the brush it comes with, and it is a very pigmented black, however even when I'm not skiing and just wear it normally it transfers everywhere. No thank you.

Fragrances -Guerlain - La Petite Robe Noire
rated 4 of 5
cgw1 1/15/2013 7:16:00 PM

I felt compelled to write a review because I want people to know that yes, some people have fallen in love with this perfume and you might too! I spent 2 hours with an SA in Sephora trying out different perfumes. I finally gave up and she told me to try this one. I immediately was intrigued. I had never smelled anything like it before. It vaguely reminded me of LL but I really dislike LL. I can smell the licorice and black cherry (I'm not great at describing fragrances so please excuse me) It's such a unique intriguing scent that is warm and envelopes me. I love it for the winter. It sticks to my skin which NO perfumes do. I had to stop wearing all the perfumes I own because of that problem, but this one lasts. I really hope you test it out for yourself : )

Eye Shadow -NARS - Kalahari Duo
rated 2 of 5
cgw1 1/15/2013 7:12:00 PM

I was so excited to get my hands on this e/s duo. I did relentless research looking at swatches/tutorials etc. to make sure this would look good on my brown eyes. I attempted a look with it this morning and was dumbfounded--Both shadows are SO incredibly sheer. I then tried using them wet. This helped some, but even then it barely showed up on my NC20 lids. I then used it over a black base. This is the only way the shadows showed up on me. I will say, I am not used to wearing neutrals. In other words, I don't know what the point of a "no makeup" makeup look" is. If I'm going to take the time to put on makeup, it better show up. This is just my personal taste. I actually envy women who love/embrace neutrals..I just haven't been able to. That being said, it took way too much hassle to get these colors to show up. I took a hard look in the mirror and realized both e/s just kind of muddy together forming a pretty taupe that looks a hell of a lot like nars ashes to ashes, which I own. Honestly, the quality of these eyeshadows are drugstore quality. I wouldn't waste your money.
