Polishes -OPI - Russian to a Party
rated 5 of 5
cfmarie79 6/22/2010 11:34:00 PM

I cried when this was DC'd... I'm not kidding. This was my ONLY color for about three years, I never wore anything else. There are a string of pictures of me at parties/dinners/weddings/etc. that you can clearly see I'm Russian to a Party! The perfect neutral deep red with beautiful subtle gold flecks, really really pretty. I bought a bottle on ebay a few years back but have since lost it :( I then moved on to black for a few years, but have been thinking about repurchasing. Very sad to walk into a nail salon these days and KNOW that it's not on the rack anymore. Sigh.

Moisturizers -Ultima II - Glowtion Skin Brightening Moisturizer
rated 4 of 5

I HEART GLOWTION! Wow, what a blast from the past :) I used this stuff YEARS ago before it was DC'd and you could buy it in the drug store for a few dollars. LOVED IT! Contrary to what you would believe, it did not make your skin super oily or shiny looking... really amazing product, just a true "glow" just like it claims. There is nothing else on the market either then or now that comes close to this. Really a shame that it's all over and you have to practically fork over a mortgage payment on the black market for this stuff! This will go down in history as one of those one in a million products that slipped through our fingers. RIP Glowtion, RIP.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Single in Brulee
rated 5 of 5
cfmarie79 6/20/2010 9:28:00 PM

This shadow is my HG base shadow/blender! I use it EVERYDAY on top of my UDPP and under all my colors, and occasionally I use it to blend out colors when I over do it if you know what I mean... :) LOL Sometimes I get excited and go a little crazy with an intense color and I use this to bring it down a couple notches or to blend out a harsh line. It is the EXACT color of my lids naturally so this makes a perfect base, I love that it's matte and the application is smooth smooth smooth! I will repurchase this forever and ever amen, until they DC it! The best part is that it's DIRT CHEAP! It may as well be free for crying out loud. No brainer.

Styling Products -Got 2 Be - Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion
rated 3 of 5
cfmarie79 6/6/2010 5:31:00 PM

I got this as part of a BzzAgent campaign, and was reluctant to try it out. I hate using styling creams on my hair because I have very fine hair and need all the volume I can get! I am used to styling creams weighing my hair down and making it look greasy, so that is what I was expecting. I used it on my towel dried hair before blow drying and then InStyling, I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to use a lot of product without my hair feeling greasy and gross... so I kept piling it on! My hair absorbed all the product and my hands weren't sticky after which was a nice plus too. The slightly fruity scent didn't bother me but I could do without it, I mean between deopdorant, perfume, cosmetics, etc., do we really need ANOTHER smell on us?? But alas, it was light and not overpowering so no biggie. After blowdrying I didn't notice any huge difference, and after InStyling my hair was slightly softer but again no noticeable shine or "luster" :) Overall I was impressed that there was no greasy heavy effect that you would usually get with a product like this, but being as how there was no glossing effect either I wouldn't be inclined to purchase this on my own.

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle
rated 3 of 5
cfmarie79 5/16/2010 11:03:00 PM

Eh. After all the good reviews and such I expected much higher quality. Despite what I have read and heard, the shimmer is a little on the chunky side. It's not a terrible product and I use it a lot just because I paid so much for it and want to use it up. It will probably last forever though, there is so much product I haven't even made a dent. The color is nice besides, not bronzey at all and I have light skin so that's good. I believe that if you need a highlighter that is not glittery, you need to get a cream highlighter that is more finely milled than this. Overall, this is a decent product but not worth the price at all. Do some more research and get something cheaper that performs equally or better.

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - InStyler-Tre Milano brand
rated 5 of 5
cfmarie79 5/16/2010 10:55:00 PM

The only way I can explain all the bad reviews is that these people are either using it wrong or they got a faulty unit? This thing has changed my life, no joke. I will never ever use a flat iron for as long as I live, why would anyone after this? I actually threw out my curling irons and flat irons the day I first used the InStyler with no regrets... just chucked them in the trash! As for the clain that there is lead in the chord...? I don't know if that's true but if it is then who cares? It's not like I'm going to chew on it. I wouldn't mind if there were plutonium leaking out of it for crying out loud, it's THAT amazing.

Hair -Wen by Chaz Dean - Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner
rated 4 of 5
cfmarie79 5/13/2010 8:57:00 PM

Okay... here goes. I have wavy/curly very fine color treated hair. About 2 years ago I vowed to never use sulfates or detergents on my hair ever again so I started using Deva Curl, well that was fine but I wasn't super impressed and it made my back and shoulders break out because it was so heavy and hard to rinse out. I started using Wen about a year ago and at first I thought I had found my HG... I think I may have even cried a little. After a few weeks it became clear that Wen left a TON of buildup in my hair and it looked greasy and dirty even after JUST showering, this would not do at all. So I have found the solution! I really do love Wen and how it makes my hair shiny and frizz free and soft and all those wonderful things so I didn't want to give up alltogether. I decided I needed an all natural or at lease sulfate free clarifying shampoo and just use Wen as my conditioner. Voila! This is the way to go Ladies! Wen should not be used as a shampoo at all! Use it as a conditioner before you give up on it, it really is great and just because it is marketed incorrectly doesn't mean it's a bad product. Stay the course!

Foundations -Elizabeth Arden - Intervene
rated 4 of 5
cfmarie79 5/6/2010 5:42:00 PM

I love this stuff. I received a sample of this as a GWP in soft cameo which is WAY too dark for me so I didn't know what I was going to do with it. I decided that instead of throwing it out I would mix it with equal parts of my facial moisturizer and use it that way... well OMG boys and girls I couldn't believe it, flawless, oilfree perfection all day. Plus, because I cut it with moisturizer it totally worked for my skintone! If you are having a good skin day and just need something to even and matte your face then make yourself a TM with this and you will be in love like me. I just set it with a translucent powder and voila! In fact, I am going to buy a full size in soft cameo because this is working so well for me. For the record, I mix it with Biore pore minimizing moisturizer with spf 15. I took one lippie off because of the price.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - ColorIcon Palette in Lust [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
cfmarie79 4/27/2010 12:42:00 AM

Wow is all I can say! I just picked this up for $5 at Walgreens and it's amazing! The pigmentation and texture is awesome, I was totally surprised. The colors are so beautiful and work so nicely together, really flattering on a brown eye. Not a big fan of the packaging, I wish they sold these in rounds so they could be depotted and put in a palette but oh well... you can't have everything :)

I got suckered into this at at young age...13. I cannot believe that people actually think this is good for their skin! The alcohol/perfume/chemicals are immediately evident unless you are a complete idiot. Wow. Please stop now. Do a minimum of research and avoid this nonsense. Save yourselves.

Lip Liners -Wet 'n' Wild - #666 liner
rated 4 of 5
cfmarie79 4/22/2010 8:57:00 PM

This is my HG liner for when I want color on my lips intead of a nude liner. I have been using this since I was in middle school and I still love it. CVS doesn't carry wet n wild anymore as far as I can tell so I'm bummed that I haven't been able to find it. I don't want to but it online because having to pay shipping on a .99 cent liner is silly. Any suggestions where I can score some 666? Anyway, the color is universal and unique... one lippie off because it is a little hard unless it is warm, but small price to pay for great color pay off! I'm pretty sure this is their #1 seling liner so I'm hopeful they won't DC it. EDIT: I found it in Stop & Shop! The packaging is different and the color looks different in the pencil, but the same when applied. It does seem to be a little creamier and easier to apply though. On another note... wtf is up with CVS not carrying W&W? That just seems wrong on a cosmic level. I took 2 lippies off for packaging because the clear plastic top was so loose and ill fitting that it fell off in my cosmetic bag never to be seen again. I searched and searched, so I ended up having to sacrifice a top from an old eyeliner that I never use.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
rated 2 of 5
cfmarie79 4/20/2010 9:33:00 PM

All hype... clump city. This mascara has zero redeeming qualities and the only way I would use it again is if I were stranded on a desert island and this was the last mascara on earth. Just do yourself a favor and don't fall for the flat out lies... save yourself the the money and put it in your gas tank instead.

Primer/ Corrector -L'Oreal - Studio Secrets Anti-Redness Primer
rated 4 of 5
cfmarie79 4/16/2010 9:37:00 PM

EDIT! This is to be used as an additive to your foundation! Duh! Here I was trying to put it on my face... LOLOLOL! I was looking for a redness corrector and figured I would try the newest from L'Oreal. I really like it, it does what it claims and doesn't have that cakey/dense/paste feeling of a cream corrector. A little goes a long way and don't forget to blend blend blend ladies! Not a big fan of the packaging just because it is so liquidy that you don't even need a full pump. Whatever though, however it gets on your face is not important as long as it gets there! I was worried it might make my oily skin oilier but not so, I love the texture because it doesn't interfere with whatever I put over or under it. I wear it under my foundation (double wear or colorstay) and it works great. Would absolutely repurchase.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara
rated 5 of 5
cfmarie79 4/16/2010 9:26:00 PM

My HG for YEARS! I will probably never use another brand even though I consider myself a mascara slut, and make silly impulse buys whenever they come out with a new gimmick... (stiletto) haha! I always go back. First thing I do is bend the brush on the tube so it fits into my corners and voila! Perfect mascara for d/s price. Thick, long, voluminous everytime. Stays on and never flakes. :)

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Healthy Hoof
rated 5 of 5
cfmarie79 4/15/2010 11:12:00 PM

LOVE. This stuff is amazing, I will never ever buy any other nail treatment as long as this is being manufactured! Totally my HG. I use it after every shower and before bed everynight with amazing results! I actually had an accident with my finger and bent my ENTIRE long nail back (ouch) and it didn't even crack/split at all... the next day it was like nothing happened! I love the natural ingredients and the lavender smell is so nice and calming. I rub it into my nails at night while watching tv and just love love love it! Run do not walk to CVS and get it now!
