Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
celodie 8/27/2006 3:47:00 AM
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...this blush is a beautiful color that gives my cheeks a peachy pink shimmery glow and it has great lasting power. many people compare this to milani luminous (or vice versa) but i find this to be MUCH better. the color is not so pink as luminous. it's more of a perfect balance between pink and peach. lasts a hell of a lot longer. and it just looks so pretty in my traincase! lol i'm an nc35 for reference and though it is sheer for my coloring, i just apply a few extra layers and it looks fabulous.

Blush -NARS - Angelika
celodie 8/27/2006 3:43:00 AM
LOVE this blush. I love the color! it gives me a baby doll pink flush that i simply love. great for the fall/winter/spring. (it's not really a summer color.) i apply this with my mac skunk brush because this blush is VERY pigmented. The lasting power is great. I highly recommend. oh, and i'm an nc35 for reference.

Blush -NARS - Lovejoy
celodie 8/27/2006 3:41:00 AM
This blush was too much like a bronzer on my NC35 skin. If I didn't have a bronzer than I would probably rate it higher, but since I really wasn't looking for a bronzer quality i have to lower my rating. I love Nars blushes for their staying power, the great selection of colors that they have, but this just wasn't my cup of tea. i swapped it away and happy to say it's gone to a better home.

Makeup Brushes -Sephora - Sponge Tip Applicator
celodie 2/28/2006 2:56:00 PM
I don't know why the sponge tip applicator brush gets no love from anyone! I love that this has a long black handle (compared to other brands that have little 1 to 2 inch flimsy handles...this one's about 5 inches long) and the actual sponge tip is not ridiculously huge/bulky like some other brands...it's just the right size. It applies the eyeshadow evenly and it packs it on rather than sheer like a brush would. I bought my first one about 2 years ago and it's just now starting to show signs of wear. I absolutely love this "brush". I reach for it every single day and for $4 it can't be beat! I highly recommend it.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Prose and Fancy
celodie 2/23/2006 3:43:00 PM
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet! This has to be my absolute favorite eyeshadow that I own! I absolutely love the texture, the color goes on wonderfully, beautiful pigmentation and I think is universally flattering on anyone. (Although I have to admit this color is not for the faint of heart. It is bold but wearable. i have a pic in my profile with it on for reference).

Blush -MAC - Golden Kitty and Primpin Duo
celodie 2/17/2006 4:53:00 PM
I was reading some of the previous reviews and I don't really consider the pink side to be raspberry (maybe some are different?) but mine was more of a bright hot pink and a gold. Honestly...i did a side by side comparison and I say the pink side is Dollymix (exact match!)and the gold side is Trace Gold. It's a great duo though! Works wonderfully on my NC35 complexion. But if you already have Dollymix AND Trace Gold...you really don't need this. You can mix it yourself. hehe :)

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stylist Waterproof ] [DISCONTINUED]
celodie 2/14/2006 11:54:00 AM
Okay. I admit...I only bought this because the brush looked cool and I had little or rather...no hopes in this item. I've heard nothing but horror stories from comb mascaras but I figured let's try give it a shot. I love Volum' Express and Full & Soft so this can't be THAT bad. Well let me tell you..this mascara took me completely by surprise! Although it does require a little work (I second what jiney17 said..you do have to use a metal comb to declump this mascara and the rest of her review is spot-on)...I have finally found a mascara that does what I want! It lengthens, it volumizes and it curls!! I didn't even realize this until a few hours after applying it. I was at work and had to go to the bathroom and upon looking in the mirror I saw my lashes looked like they were naturally curled!? OMFG! I was like! WOAH! Joey Lawrence WOAH! I mean...I do curl my lashes with an eyelash curler but in minutes my lashes normally go back to their stick-straight selves. But not with this baby! ::kisses mascara tube:: My lashes look like they are naturally curled! I have the gorgeous volumized, lengthened and naturally curled lashes I've always wanted! There is also, no smudging and no budging with this stuff so you need a very good waterproof eye makeup remover for this mascara...but I find this the case with almost any waterproof mascara. Definately close to HG material but it's too soon for me to finalize my decision. hehe

Mascara -Avon - Daring Curves Mascara
celodie 1/30/2006 10:57:00 AM
Okay...I must say I was a bit skeptical in trying this since I did not like avon's astonishing lengths mascara. (it dried up too quick and gave my spider lashes). But hey...this was on sale for $3.99 and the reviews were pretty good so I tried it. I'm so happy I did! I have very stick straight lashes and nothing ever works to keep my lashes curled but this REALLY does hold a curl! NEVER have I found a mascara that would do this. Now...this is nothing crazy dramatic but I definately notice a difference. This doesn't really add volume or that much length but it DOES hold my curl. MUCH better than other curling formulas I've tried which leave my lashes dry and brittle or only curled half my lashes and the rest were stick straight (attractive huh? hehe) I have not had any smudging with this so far either! This is great for a daytime/work look and I will definately repurchase. :)

Eyeliner -Revlon - ColorStay Liquid Liner
celodie 1/30/2006 10:49:00 AM
Okay...I know I betrayed my beloved HG L'Oreal Lineur Intense liquid liner by trying this eyeliner but I just had to based on the rave reviews. Okay...this may be replacing my L'Oreal. ACK! Pros: true black eyeliner. precision tip for a thin or thick dramatic line (depending how you hold the brush), great staying power, no smudging (which is great for a non-wp formula) and it doesn't fade. I prefer this color black over my L'Oreal because sometimes the L'Oreal looks a bit wet/shiny looking. (no idea why) Cons: the brush tip is a bit hard (compared to L'Oreal's to others...not so bad) so application isn't the most thrilling part and L'Oreal's felt tip pen style is much easier to use...but beauty is pain right?! I would definately repurchase this again! UPDATE 2-13-06: I LOVE THIS MORE THAN MY L'OREAL LINER! :O

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Active Light Makeup SPF 25 ] [DISCONTINUED]
celodie 1/27/2006 10:09:00 AM
I was looking for a light/sheer coverage foundation since my skin has cleared up lately and i actually have no need for medium-full coverage right now (yay!) and figured since I had liked the SoftFlex formula (for a night out on the town) i would like the active for the day. Well..let me say...the color match was great (Sand Beige), the texture was nice and lightweight...but that was it. I felt it dulled my complexion a bit and had very little staying power (1/2 way through the day it was gone). I did set with a powder like the other reviewers suggested, but it still left me wanting more. I also thinks it's waaaay too expensive for the amount that you get. I ended up returning this. :(

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 6 for Combination/Oily Skin
celodie 1/25/2006 10:50:00 AM
I tried this since I liked the coverage that the original colorstay had but the color selection was terrible. So of course...while i was walking through the cosmetics aisle at my local drugstore (which i always do even if i'm not getting makeup) i saw the new display and was wowed by the color selection! I found my match, Sand Beige. (i'm NC35 for reference and combo/oily but lately more on the combo dry side) It was very similar to the old colorstay formula..but not as thick and masky. (it reminds me of MAC's Select Tint liquid foundation in terms of coverage) It held up all day too! My only gripe with this foundation is it may be TOO much at times. Or it may be perhaps that my skin has gotten better lately that i don't need to use as much foundation as I used to. I haven't used it enought to know if it would cause any breakouts and I'm also testing out their Active formula since it is more sheer and that's what I'm needing more these days. :D

Eye Shadow -MAC - Shadestick in Beige-ing
celodie 1/25/2006 10:42:00 AM
My friend is a MAC MA and after spending about 30 minutes trying to help me pick out a MAC e/s that i hadn't tried or already didn't own he showed me the shadesticks. He said this was a great base and since they're waterproof it will make my makeup last all day without creasing. That got my attention! No creasing?! I must try it out! Let me say...i love it! The convenience of a stick pen, absolutely no creasing until maybe 14+ hours later, great color as a makeup base, a good amount of product for the price...and i could go on. lol. I highly recommend this product! (i'm NC35)

Treatments (Eye) -Avon - HydroFirming Eye Treatment
celodie 1/25/2006 10:32:00 AM
i may be in the minority here but i honestly didn't see a difference. it felt great on; light texture, not greasy and the smell was not over-powering (like some other creams), but that was about it. i used it for about 2 weeks and really didn't notice a difference. the price was decent, the packaging cute but all in all...nothing spectacular. i prefer Nivea's Q10 wrinkle control cream with SPF4 over this. UPDATE: i cannot use this anymore. it causes my eye area to peel and i do not see retinol as an ingredient. this product is supposed to hydrate my eye area and there is no indication that it's an anti-aging product so why the peeling??? i do not recommend this at all.

Eye Shadow -MAC - All That Glitters
celodie 1/17/2006 8:21:00 AM
I absolutely adore this color! Great for a day look but can also be incorporated into night. It's a medium beige with gold/champagney yet (i see) some amber tones in it that I feel will suit everyone! The texture is wonderful too! (stay away from MAC's lustre formula...horrible) I'm just so happy MAC made it permanent for it seems all the colors I like are LE. It really wakes up my eyes and just looks beautiful! (for reference i am a FFF/MMM NC30/35 - i know..i'm in between. hehe)

Mascara -Max Factor - Lash Lift Mascara
celodie 12/13/2005 1:34:00 PM
I normally like Max Factor's mascaras but this one is not one of them. I wanted something that would help hold a curl (because I have stick straight lashes) but this didn't hold anything. It also did not add any volume and just didn't do much of anything. I normally like a more dramatic look so this is not the mascara to go for when trying to achieve this but if you like the natural look then I'd say this is pretty nice. Very minimal smudging and long-lasting for a non-waterproof mascara.
