Palettes -Stila - Barbie Loves Stila All Doll'd Up Palette (2009)
byourself 10/19/2009 3:51:00 PM
I love the Barbie loves Stila collection. This palette is no exception. This features 4 trios (12 colours) of shimmery eyeshadows. No mattes in this palette, and not much neutral either. BUT, that being said, the colours are gorgeous!!! Great great pigmentation, good lasting power. This palette is a must-have from the collection. Unfortunately, I think it's discoutinued because I don't see it on Sephora.com.

Cleansers -Boscia - MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil
byourself 10/19/2009 3:44:00 PM
I can't believe it took me so long to review this product. This oil is the best. The BEST! I love: - the light, natural minty scent - the refreshing (but non-irritating!) feeling - the fact that it removes makeup like NOTHING ELSE, even waterproof - that I need soooooooo little to remove all my makeup - that it's natural - that it's cruelty-free I don't love: - nothing? Well, if I must find something, the price is relatively high, but a bottle of this will last me like, a year, a year and a half? - The packaging is not ideal if you travel a lot... yeah that's about it for what I don't like... The way I use it: I first "prewash" my face by splashing warm water on my face and gently massaging my skin to remove a bit of makeup. Rinse, dry my hands. Then I use about one to two drops (that's right, 1-2 drops) and very gently massage them on my lids ('cause that's where the biggest part of my makeup is), massage the rest on my face. With a damp face cloth, I wash my face and remove the excess of oil. Yep, because for some reason, that oil is so light, you can remove the excess of it with WATER. And that's it. Skin is clean, refreshed, with no tight feeling. And with 1-2 drops per day, this will last me a LONG time!

Makeup Brushes -Coastal Scents - Synthetic Deluxe Crease Brush
byourself 8/17/2009 2:41:00 PM
This is a great crease brush!! Here is what I love about it: - The size. This crease brush is neither too large nor too small to apply crease colour. It fits into the crease perfectly!! - The bristles. Those taklon bristles are soooooooo soft! Not kidding. Plus synthetic bristles are durable, easier to clean and cruelty-free ('cause those mink and sable hair don't grow on trees you know...) - The density. These bristles are dense enough that you can easily pick up eyeshadow, but they are soft enough to allow a windsheild motion when doing your crease colour. Very flexible, yet somewhat firm. The density of it also allows you to blend your eyeshadow - The price. Can you really beat that price of 2,79$... Seriously!! Give it a try!

Makeup Brushes -Coastal Scents - Synthetic Concealer Shading Brush
byourself 8/17/2009 2:28:00 PM
I love this! I really do!! Here's why: 1. This is OH SO SOFT!! If you're sceptic for synthetic bristles being as (if not more) soft than natural bristles, this will change your mind in no time! I use it mainly under my eye and it is not irritating at all. 2. Flawless finish. Weather I apply and blend with this brush, or apply with my fingers and blend with this brush, I always obtain a picture perfect finish and great coverage in no time! 3. Durability. I wash this brush EVERYDAY, I've had it for... 2-3 months I believe and it hasn't shed a single hair! Not even one tiny!! 4. Did I mention how soft it is? 5. Versatility. You can use it to apply concealer, eyeshadow, cream eyeshadow, pigment, foiled pigments... 6. The price. This is sooo cheap. This is one of those products you're wondering how they can sell it so cheap, or why you've bough similar products for 3x the price Aaaaand, I think that's it!! HTH

Eyeliner -Coastal Scents - gel eyeliner
byourself 7/20/2009 9:33:00 AM
I actually really really like these. I have true black and the green one. I use the black almost everyday. The first couple of times I used it (when using the shiny surface), I' ve found that it can smudge or crease during the day. However, past that stage (when you used the first layer) the product stays put all day. It's creamy and applies realy well with an angle brush, lasts all day and is kind of waterproof (I can't put it near the inside corner of my eyes because it will smudge, but it doesn't run with water). A tip: if you find the liner has dried, get a tiny tiny amount of waterproof makeup remover/oil on your brush and the application becomes satin smooth

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
byourself 7/15/2009 1:52:00 PM
I wanted to buy a good primer for quite a while, and finally decided for TFSI over UDPP (because of the packaging) about a month ago. I really really like it! It boosts the colour payoff of any eyeshadow, prevents creasing for 16+ hours, gives an easier application, make any eyeshadow lasts soooooooooooo long. I love it and always use it. Yesterday I was curious because I had the E.L.F studio primer for a couple of months. I used to think it was pretty good, so I decided to compare them, one on each eye. The application was pretty much the same, but by the end of the day (maybe 14h later) TFSI side was still exactly as I had applied in the morning and ELF side was kinda all blended together so that I had only one colour on my eye. There was a little creasing also. All in all, TFSI is GREAT! And it does make a difference! also, the tube is sanitary and (unlike UDPP) you can easily use all the product and a tube lasts very long

Palettes -Unlisted Brand - BH Cosmetics - 120 Color Palette 1st Edition
byourself 7/15/2009 1:34:00 PM
**EDIT: I decided that with a good primer (I use TFSI), these are actually pretty good. They will last a good16h and blend better than w/o primer. However, while I am in the minority, I still complain that there are not enough colours, or more that the colour are not well chosen: I don't need 20 shades of blue or yellow, or certainly not red, because I can mix colours thank you. This palette needs more NEUTRALS! Then it will be perfect! ______________________________________________________ I'm on the fence for this product. One one hand, there is so many colours with great pigmentation. On the other hand, a lot of them (mostly all mate and some shimmers) are chalky and don't apply well. A base is essential for this. I find they are hard to blend and I sometimes have trouble working with them. I also wish the packaging was better. I'm annoyed at having to carefully remove one palette from the top and place it beside... I also keep those plastic sheet to protect the eyeshadow. Also, most people will look at this palette and think "Whoa! There really is EVERY possible colour in there!" Well, there is not actually. The colours are very simple and lack the depth and complexity of higher end e/s. I also think it is very limited in neutrals and in dark colours. Overall, if you like experimenting with colours, this palette is well worth its price. However, a good primer is necessary, and you might have to work more for these shadows to apply well as they tend to apply patchy.

Eye Primer -E.L.F. - Studio Line Eye Primer Liner Sealer
byourself 7/15/2009 1:26:00 PM
**EDIT :Ok, I thought this product was really good, but yesterday I compared with Too Faced Shadow Insurance (one on each eye). Whoa! The application was about the same for both. But when I took my shower at 7PM, I noticed a HUGE difference: TFSI side was still exactly as I applied in the morning. E.L.F side was not: the lid and crease colour had blended together (resulting in a mixed colour) and there was a little bit of creasing. Not much, but still. So I'm editing this one from 4/5 to 3/5. It is still good if you don't want to spend much, but when you compare it to one of the best, well, it's clear that there is a difference. ______________________________________________ This one is quite good actually... The primer side: The primer does a very good job, especially with pigments. It helps the e/s stick onto the skin, and gives a better colour payoff. It also last about all day. However, I wished it came in different colours, especially black, as it does wonders to maximise the colour of a shimmer pigment. The Liner sealer side: It is ok, nothing spectacular, as I can archieve similar results with contacts solution. The applicator of this side is a little too much hard imo... Anyway, for 3$, I think it is well worth it

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Studio Line Fan Brush
byourself 4/27/2009 7:00:00 PM
I've tried and loved the eyeshadow brush from the studio line, however, this one is... ugh, so not worth your 3 bucks. Here is why: - the bristles are sooooooooooo not dense enough. The brush is flimsy, so much that it is a pain in the --- just to try and pick up colour. Once archived, it doesn't apply evenly, just one streak where you deposited the brush on the skin. This brush is not even good for highlighter or even to remove fallout, because it picks up nothing at all... Ugh Well, if you have a mega-über-super pigmented blush, it might do the job, but other than that, nah...

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Studio Line Eyeshadow 'C' Brush
byourself 4/27/2009 6:53:00 PM
I bought this in a recent E.L.F haul, when they had 50% off Studio line. I must admit, this brush is good!! Way better than what you would expect for 3$. I loved: - dense bristles, which pick up a good amount of eye shadow. It also applies very good when wet - shape: as the name says, it really is a "C" shape, which is good to apply colour all over, and even do the crease area - look: the all black brush looks sophisticated!! - feel: the synthetic bristles have raised the softness chalenge for both natural and other synthetic bristles. This feels sooo soft on the skin! Bottom line: for 3$, I can say "wow" because this brush really lives up the hype. It's a shame that international shipping at E.L.F is so expensive...

Styling Products -Got 2 Be - Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion
byourself 4/24/2009 7:27:00 PM
Ok, I might not be the best reviewer because I've only used that product today, but I can honestly say that it's made such a difference in the way my hair feels and looks. I've put about 3-4 pumps on my below-shoulder towel dry hair before drying them completely w/ hair dryer. My hair feels sooooo smooth, no frizzies at all (which for me is soo hard to obtain, as I have not-straight-but-not-wavy-plenty-of-frizzies hair type). I can't mention enough how soft my hair feels and looks. This makes my hair so easy to style. Love love this stuff!!

Concealers -E.L.F. - All Over Cover Stick
byourself 4/23/2009 6:16:00 PM
The All over cover stick from E.L.F is one of the good-not-HG products they make. I like that it covers well, the thick formula allows for medium-high coverage. It also lasts about all day. On the other hand, I don't love the packaging, which is totally unhygenic. There is definitely not a lot of product (less that an inch), and there is not a lot of colours to choose from.

Lips -E.L.F. - Plumping Lip Glaze - Baby Doll
byourself 4/23/2009 6:10:00 PM
Just like most E.L.F products, this costs only 1$. However, just like most E.L.F products, the quantity of product is soooooo small... Having said that, here is the actual review: Baby doll is a super cute light pink in the packaging. This gloss has two sides, one that is clear (appears white) that is supposed to plump your lips (but has about the same ingredients that the colour side...) and one side has the gloss. Baby doll, unfortunately, applies transluscent. There is hardly any colour, and my lips are not THAT pigmented to start with. However, for a very natural, day look, this might be good. The scent is, well, neither bad or good IMO... Reminds me of some cough medecine... Will not buy again because the colour doesn't show up, the smell is gnah, and you only get, about 1-1,5 mL of product in each side (most glosses contain about 6-8 mL, making E.L.F not so cheap as it looks)

Lip Gloss -E.L.F. - Plumping Lip Glaze - Ruby Kiss
byourself 4/23/2009 6:03:00 PM
As for most e.l.f products, this gloos is only a dollar. However, as with most e.l.f products, the quantity , ugh, very small. Ruby kiss is a double ended gloss. One side is crystal white/clear, the other is a nice, medium red. The clear side, i don't really understand, as the formula is just about the same as the colour side... Anyway. This gloss applies quite sheer, giving a nice suble colour on lips. That's about it for what I like. On the other side, the scent - while I don't think it is as bad as the reviewer below me described it - kind of remind me of cough medecine. It didn't plump my lips, not that I had high hopes, and, as I mentioned above, the quantity of products... Geez, each side must contain about 1-1,5 mL. Bottom line: not so cheap as it looks, considering how much product you get. However, a nice sheer red, but no plumping for me
