Toners -Mario Badescu - Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater
burlesqueen 6/26/2009 9:08:00 PM
This facial mist is really moisturizing and it is priced at drug store prices. The spray is a fine wide mist so you don't need many pumps to cover your face. You also won't feel guilty if you do. It feels good and cooling on the skin and leaves it glowing. I use it to set my makeup, as a toner, when I have dry spots on my shins, anywhere that needs a refresher. I carry it in my purse and always find a way to use it throughout the day. One thing to consider before you purchase this, if you are not fond of rose scented products, go smell it first. I love the scent but my BF can't stand it.

Skincare - Face -Shu Uemura - Depsea water
burlesqueen 6/26/2009 8:55:00 PM
I have the Myrtle scented depsea water and I do love how it feels. It makes my skin moist and it leaves it feeling moist for some time. Too many sprays, I may even feel a bit oily afterwards. I can see why some ppl don't like the way it sprays out. It is not a light mist but a full on shot of water which can leave too much in one spot and make it drip. Better to move your hand while you spray to try to distribute the water evenly across the face. I am not thrilled that the second ingredient is Methylparaben. I use a lot of other misting products that do not contain a preservative so I may not consider buying this again unless there is a scent I really love.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Plushglass in Bountiful

I love the plushglass formula! I don't like sticky glosses and this one feels comfortable and light. Feels moisturizing and compliments all my nude/pink lipsticks. I like the way it smells and the tingly feeling on my lips just feels fresh.

Makeup Brushes -Cinema Secrets - Brush Cleaner
burlesqueen 6/3/2009 11:56:00 PM
This is the best brush cleaner on the market. It is more expensive than you would like to pay...but then again proper care for your expensive brushes deserve the best. I still use baby shampoo for my brushes but it doesn't get out everything that the CS cleaner will. So I use the CS as a weekly deep clean for my brushes. I am talking about brushes that were used for foundation, water resistant cake makeup, lipstick...it all comes out. Now of course the instructions tell you to submerge the brushes for cleaning but if you did that with a dense brush, such as a kabuki brush, it will suck all the cleanser in and you will need more. It is a very quick way to waste all of your expensive cleanser. It is much more efficient to use something that is shallow, like the lid from a jar, and just dip the tips of the brush then rub it out on a paper towel. For regular brushes, a quick dip will bring the makeup out of the brush into the bottom. I don't mind the scent at all. A previous reviewer said vanilla and it very well could be. It leaves brushes clean and soft and the scent doesn't linger long. It really is amazing and it does dry pretty fast.

Blush -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Warmed
burlesqueen 6/2/2009 3:44:00 AM
Gorgeous on my medium skin. A bronzer and highlighter in one. I apply to the apples of my cheeks and I can catch a glimpse of that wonderful glow every time I turn my head and look in the mirror. I love how this does not have a glittery finish. The finish is smooth and can make you look so polished...which is the look I am after. A little goes a long way so I would not apply with a heavy hand. I can understand why it might look orange if you apply with a heavy hand so ease up. Also try buffing it out after application and it will melt right into your skin.

Scrubs -Kiehls - Kiehls Papaya and Pineapple Face Scrub
burlesqueen 6/2/2009 3:26:00 AM
This isn't a rub-a-dub kind of scrub. It is more of a sit back relax kind of exfoliant. It uses natural fruit enzymes that eat away at dead skin cells so even if you did rub, it doesn't help it anymore than just applying a thin even layer and letting the enzymes do the work. If you own this and you were disappointed, then try it again but use it as you would a mask. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinse. See how smooth your face feels and looks afterwards. I would rather use this type of exfoliant simply because it is gentler on the skin. The granules of other types of scrubs can be harsh and cause micro tears on the skin surface that are not very good for you after long term use.

Eyes -Shu Uemura - False Eyelashes
burlesqueen 12/19/2008 5:19:00 AM
The best false eyelashes out there on the market. Lightweight and with styles that range from natural to ultra dramatic. Best of all, after several wearings and washings...these lashes dry looking new. They don't fall apart and are easily reshaped for the next wearing. Overall, I say these are very high quality lashes.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - Liquid Liner in Radium
burlesqueen 11/28/2008 9:59:00 PM
Vibrant and highly pigmented eyeliner with real staying power. This color is great thinly drawn along the lash line. A nice surprise of color pop when you blink. The brush is a good length and thickness so you can draw thick or thin lines depending on how you swipe the brush on the side of the opening. The formula is the right consistency to use as liquid liner, not too watery so it goes on smoothly and one swipe is enough. I really love this formula and will be purchasing this liner again.

Cleansers -Mario Badescu - Glycolic Foaming Cleanser
burlesqueen 9/7/2008 2:20:00 AM
Great for congested skin and is gentle and effective. 3 times a week as suggested by my esthetician and my skin did look brighter and the blackheads on my nose slowly starting decreasing. It lathers easily and rinses clean. I use it in the morning in the shower because I don't think it removes makeup well. For those with a heavy hand, you may not feel any tingling, so you may decide to use this everyday, but let me tell you that when you have peeling skin around your nostrils, you will then know that you should use it less. A little in the hand gives a great lather so a little goes a long way so for the price this is very economical compared to most brands. It's a keeper.

Treatments (Eye) -Obagi - Elastiderm
burlesqueen 9/7/2008 2:14:00 AM
I use the day gel and I like how it feels for day use. It is light and sinks into the skin quickly and does hydrate well without messing with my eye makeup. I usually draw on cats eyes with wingtips at the ends with liquid liner and you know the wrong eye cream can make it smear all day long. I don't have any lines around my eyes and I have been using this for a year and haven't seen any lines appear so for now its a good thing.

Treatments -StriVectin - SD by Klein-Becker
burlesqueen 9/7/2008 2:10:00 AM
I used the original huge tube as an eye cream and for areas that would produce lines such as the forehead, the sides of my nose and mouth. I am 30 and I don't have any wrinkles or lines. I was trying out preventative care and I feel that after 2 years of use, this cream does seem to plump and tighten the skin. I liked how the skin around my eyes seemed brighter. There was obvious physical evidence that this cream did something positive for me. After I finished my tube, I did not purchase another. This is because when I went in for a facial, the esthetician asked me what I used and when I told her, she told me it may be too drying at my age and with the condition of my skin being good, I should wait till my skin is older to be using this. I decided to take her advice.

Treatments (Eye) -Kinerase - Kinerase Intensive Eye Cream
burlesqueen 9/7/2008 2:00:00 AM
I was not impressed with this and will not be purchasing again. It is light and airy as a day eye cream should be but I prefer a gel for day use. I didn't feel as though this did much after one years of use. After a year, you either love it or you don't. I didn't love it. The skin around my eyes felt hydrated but I was just was not impressed.

Cleansers -DHC - Olive Soap
burlesqueen 9/7/2008 1:45:00 AM
I love this soap! A little rub and it gives you so much lather. I use it after I remove my makeup with Shu Uemura cleansing oil to remove the oil residue, if any is left. Sometimes it can feel drying, but the ingredients are less harsh than most other facial soaps out on the market. I just make sure I tone and moisturize afterwards. Make sure to dry out the soap after each use since it tends to melt easily. I stand mine up on its side and it seems to last quite a while.

Cleansers -Shu Uemura - Cleansing Beauty Oil Premium A/O
burlesqueen 9/7/2008 1:37:00 AM
I love any of the cleansing oils from Shu Uemura. Easily takes off any waterproof eye makeup and foundation without tugging or scrubbing. It is gentle and does what it says, it dissolves all makeup and rinses it away. Make sure if you wear contact lenses to remove them first before using. This oil is mostly comprised of mineral oil and I do not want any of it remaining on my skin after rinsing. I usually follow with my DHC olive or mild soap for extra cleansing and to remove any residue. I feel that after using the cleansing oils for 2+ years, it has helped in balancing the oil production in my skin. I used to use foaming cleansers that stripped my skin of oil and in turn, my skin rushed to replace it with more oil. I was always slick and I thought I had oily skin. It turns out I had superficially oily skin but was really combo skin on the dry side. It just proves that proper cleansing can really balance out your skin. It was hard for me to turn to oil cleansers, but once I did, I was really happy with the results. No breakouts or problems for me. It's a keeper.
