Fragrances -Burberry - Burberry Classic EDP

When I smelt this on a co-worker I had to ask what it was, it appealed to me so much! To me, it resembles Dolce & Gabbana's "Light Blue" - very similar, but maybe that's just me. I like it for casual wear in winter because it smells clean, not provocative, kind of innocent, light, not w/an "important message" the way, say, "For Her" by Narciso Rodriguez is or even "Cabaret". I have quite a wardrobe of fragrances and like to match them to my mood, what I'm wearing, the season. A lot of times I wear this when I'm between moods or not feeling anything in particular and aren't wearing anything special. In winter.

When I smelled this on a colleague, I asked her if she was wearing L'Heure Blu by Gerlaine. She wasn't, but this is what this fragrance smelled like, on her, to me. I'm anxious to try some out on myself because L'Heure used to be my very favorite scent. Since I haven't bought, or worn, it, I don't know how to fill out the ranking form.

Fragrances -Dolce & Gabbana - Sicily eau de parfum

I'm surprised as I read the reviews that describe this as smelling "soapy" and "clean." For me, it was just the opposite. Since I love "Light Blue" so much, I was hugely looking forward to the new scent by D&G so sprayed some on the minute it became available. As I walked around, shopping,I became aware of an unpleasant odor around me, like unwashed armpits. Puzzled, I sniffed and suddenly realized it was the "Sicily" that was smelling like BO. Sorry, D & G, but this is no "Light Blue."

When I first smelled this on a work-mate I had to know what it is -- and have a bottle for myself! To me it is a forerunner of Dolce and Gabanna's "Light Blue" except this is a little more subtle and toned down. While "Light Blue", for me anyway, is definitely a summer scent, this Burberry is what I reach for in fall and winter when I want something lighter than what I usually wear (Rodriguez's "For Her", "Mauboussin", Annick Goutal's "C'st Soir au Jamais"). It is clean and bright yet there's something of the feminine mystery that appeals to me.

Fragrances -Gres - Cabaret

Even after wearing this off and on for several years, it still surprises me. This is a complex fragrance, not overwhelmingly floral, I don't think, but more Oriental in nature and definitely something I love to smell wafting around me all day. Even before the concept of "aromatherapy", I craved scent and recognized its ability to transform or enhance my mood. Fragrance is as essential to my well-being as air and Caberet is one of the very best.

OH! Even since Molto Missoni disappeared from the scene in New York, not even available at their flagship shop on Madison Avenue, not even importable from their base in Italy, at any rate, I have been searching and searching for something that approximates it. Today, whist shopping and sampling in Sephora, I spotted an unfamiliar bottle and name so spritzed some on. Imagine my astonishment when I recognized my beloved Molto Missoni!! Well, anyway, the closest I've come in 10 or so years, and close enough to become a valued member of my fragrance collection. Brava Mauboussin!!!!!

Fragrances -Narciso Rodriguez - Narciso Rodriguez for her

Elegant and exotic, this fragrance reminds me of a seraglio w/strains of an oud permeating the air; paisley panne velvet swirling caftans, candles, lush gardens, flowers, dim light. Exotic as this is, it is something I can wear every day because it's not overpowering, not as dressy as Shalimar is perceived as being, even though it's not considered as classy today as it was in the 20s. I love this so much I bought the body lotion, which does add an added depth to the fragrance experience. LOTS of compliments when I wear this!
