Self Tanners -Aveeno - Continuous Radiance Moisturizing Lotion
bluestlight 7/9/2006 3:47:00 AM
I thought it was too good to be true, but Makeup alley posters I am sorry I doubted you! I bought this after reading the great reviews..and after a stint of bad luck with these 'gradual' self-tanners. As far as im concerned--they may not smell when you first put them on--but give it a couple hours and you stink!! (right??!) Not with this one! No smell during or after application. I've used it once so far in Fair ( I wanted the medium, but it was sold out!!) and the color is nice. It is defintely just a TINT of color after once use ( the product does, afterall, say 'GRADUAL' self-tanner). No streaking, no orangey look (and I even cheated and applied this in a steamy bathroom!) It's a great moisturizer that spread very evenly and wasn't too thick or greasy like ones that just sit on top of the skin. I am still scared to try this on my face- just because I am sensitive and prone to breakouts. Until they come out with a face version--I mix a drop of Paula's Choice gel self tanner with a bit of her moisturizer to make my own face-safe version. :) Happy Tanning-- with Aveeno!! *UPDATE* Im about a week and a half into using this on an almost daily basis and the color looks great! Still no streaks, defintely sutble and doesnt wash off in patches like some other stuff!!

Powder -Sheer Cover - Sheer Cover - Mineral Foundation
bluestlight 6/5/2006 1:16:00 AM
I notice some negative reviews, and of course not everyone is going to like everything..but- please read this! I have been using Sheer Cover for about a year now and have had fantastic results with it. I have normal/dry skin with redness and I am prone to breakouts. Foundation wasn't cutting it. They made me irritated, not to mention I felt I felt was always so noticeable. This product has been great on my skin and it really does deliever what they said it would- a fast way to get even, glowy skin that looks like bare skin. It took a couple trys to get the application down and figure out how much to use (which by the way a little goes a LONG way and one package lasts me about forever, 5-6 months!) Heres my gameplan with it: - If i have any breakouts or extra reddness, I put my concealer on FIRST. -Then, I tap some of he product in the cover, tap off excess and brush on the Sheer Cover with my own big powder brush (I use Sonia Kashuk from Target b/c I found the one they sent in the kit didn't apply as well). -I use a little of the loose finishing powder on my nose and T-zone or any area I want to set that I concealed. Thats it. Also, as a last step that I find makes it look even better and sets it is a spritz of water, or I sometimes use Serious Skin Care super hyrdate. I work long hours and this holds up great. I get so many compliments on how beautiful my skin is ( if they only knew the stuff i go through with it!!) Honestly, I was truly surprised how well this turned out to work. Nobody has perfect skin, especially me, but this has changed the way I feel about it and I can never go back to the liquid stuff after trying this. Give it a try..

Conditioner -Redken - Blonde Glam Conditioner
bluestlight 5/30/2006 7:28:00 PM
Ok, I've usually had good results with Redken- but not this. I read about this in Allure magazine and decided to give it a try on my blonde-highlighted hair. I used it consistently and the actual color of my highlights changed!! It turned into this blob of one color brassiness(and my hair does not do that--even after a month when its starting to fade!)I even tried the Pure Pearl--and that made my hair browner! My hair colorist said after repeated use it leaves color deposits and at MOST should be used once a month. She also said the Pure Pearl is really only good for true platinum blondes who get ruddiness. Point being, the conditioning aspect was good, but if you have highlighted hair-- don't use this product!

Moisturizers -Serious Skin Care - Super Hydrate Oil Free Moisturizer
bluestlight 4/18/2006 1:14:00 AM
I use a mineral powder makeup and basically I use this to spritz on after I apply it. It sets everything up nicely while giving a nice bit of extra moisture. I don't think its anything too special, but it doesn have some great ingredients and didnt cause irritation.

Skincare - Face -Serious Skin Care - Unmasked Sulfur Mask
bluestlight 4/18/2006 1:11:00 AM
Ok, so I'm really into masks, and I received this in a kit I ordered with dry-lo and the countinuosly clear gel(which is great, i've reviewed both). Maybe it's just my skin, but I found this mask too irriating. Sulphur and menthol in any product can be a problem for a lot of skin types. I've tried it just on zits alone, and it causes more irritation and peeling. Also, the product it not a creamy mask..its kind of hard to spread around. I'm happy its worked well for others, but if you have more sensitive skin, I wouldn't recommend this. Try the continuously clear gel with the clearz-it over and blemishes vanish!

Concealers -Paula's Choice - No slip concealer [DISCONTINUED]
bluestlight 4/16/2006 4:19:00 PM
I love Paula's line of skincare products (its my entire daily regimine), so in my quest for the perfect concealer I gave this a try. It's unforntuate to say, I didn't like it. I found it drying and way too matte. It looked cakey and heavy ( and I didn't even use that much). It has good coverage, but I found that the consistency was just all wrong. Sorry Paula!

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - Skin Balancing Moisture Gel
bluestlight 4/16/2006 4:09:00 PM
I use Paula's Choice 2% BHA Gel, but found that if I wear makeup I still needed some light moisture. I bought this in hopes that it would be a good moisturizer for dry skin that is prone to breakouts. It delievered!! It gives just enough moisture and has a light satiny finish. I love knowing that I'm helping my skin because its loaded with antioxidants, anti-irritants and water-binding ingredients. I even use it around my eye area (but i find I need a little more moisture there, so i put it on under another moisturizer). My only con, I find that it does ball up in some spots when I put on makeup, so a light layer is best!

Treatments (Eye) -Skinceuticals - SkinCeuticals - Vitamin C Eye Cream
bluestlight 4/16/2006 3:55:00 PM
This product was disappointing. I didn't find it moisturizing enough, and I found it actually seemed to irritate and dry out my eye area. It also didnt help any puffiness or dark circles. I heard they took out the vitamin C, but even so, I doubt it's worth the money you'll pay for it. I've gotten better results with drugstore brands.

Treatments -Skinceuticals - Phyto Corrective Gel
bluestlight 4/15/2006 6:54:00 PM
My sister brought this home from her spa a couple years ago when my skin was freaking out. It was dry in some spots, breaking out in others, red in areas, and I had some brownish spots from past blemishes. The Phyto Corrective gel is suppose to be an alternative to hydraquinione ( a skin lightener). It definatley helped my skin. The hylaronic acid( water-binding) is great for moisture. It has some plant extracts that soothe also. It helped the irritation and I even used a little under my eyes and it didnt bother anything( and trust me, my skin reacts to everything!!). It's green color is a little scary, but don't worry it goes on clear. Its pricey, but a little goes a long way and I would recommend it to anyone who has combo skin looking for great lightweight moisture and an even skin tone.

Self Tanners -Dove - Energy Glow Daily Moisturizer with Subtle Self Tanners for Fair skin tones
bluestlight 4/15/2006 6:38:00 PM
I am very pleased with this product. I must have a stash under my sink of the daily moistuizer/self tanner products and so far, I like this one the best. It has a light scent, definately not bad, almost citrusy. I bought it in the medium tone ( and i'm quite fair) and I like the results I get with this. I do use regular self tanner (st. tropez) and using this daily or every other day keeps that tan fresh for way longer than just the usual couple of days. Great product, great price, no smell!

Treatments -Neutrogena - Advanced Solutions Acne Mark Fading Peel [DISCONTINUED]
bluestlight 4/15/2006 6:32:00 PM
After going through a breakout stint, I was left with some brownish/redish spots. I was excited to try this after the claims made. It was OK. It didnt magically make anything disappear, but I think it smoothed out my skin. I am also very sensitive and I didnt have any adverse reactions to this. I found awesome results with using a 2% salyclyic acid gel (Paulas Choice) consistenly every night. If you are looking to fade blemish marks, try that instead.

Self Tanners -St.Tropez - St.Tropez Tinted Self Tanning Mousse/Whipped Bronze
bluestlight 4/10/2006 5:34:00 PM
This is the best self tanner I've used. #1 thing I love about it, you don't look orangey-yellowy tan, you look TAN! #2 thing I love about it is you can see exactly where your putting it, no more missed spots! At first I was scared because it looked really dark putting it on, but when I woke up, it turns into a nice tan glow and looks even better after a shower! The smell isn't too bad, but it does smell like self-tanner. I am so white naturally--albino-like-- my friends couldn't believe how great the tan looked! Must try!

Concealers -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Concealer
bluestlight 4/10/2006 5:28:00 PM
Well I was excited about this because I've had such great results with the true match foundation. It was okay. It is very blendable, but I found it too sheer to really cover dark circles and it kind of set to a powerdy finish that I didn't like. If it was a little more opaque and creamy, I'd say it was perfect.
