Styling Products -TRESemme - Instant Heat Tamer Spray
rated 5 of 5
blingblingb8by 6/27/2010 12:05:00 AM

I generally like this product because it's not misleading like the other drugstore hair products and it does what it says. It protects your hair from the negative effects of using heat tools and quite well, I might add. I use this everytime to prep my hair before blow drying and my hair is pretty shiny and healthy looking afterwards. The smell of it is also quite pleasant and not at all strong, like the musky CHI Iron guard, which I can't stand at all because who in the world wants to smell like a sweaty, old man? LOL I will recontinue to repurchase this product, in addition to a good frizz-control product because you do kinda need it in combination with this anyhow. Does anyone have any good, cheap recommendations? :)

Eye Primer -E.L.F. - Mineral Eyeshadow Primer
rated 2 of 5
blingblingb8by 6/26/2010 11:59:00 PM

Am I the only one out of the 100 or so people that just doesn't get what's so good about this primer? Seriously, I don't get it. How is this comparable to Urban Decay's primer potion? I mean, don't get me wrong, this isn't bad for it's price, but the whole purpose of a primer is to make eyeshadows pop and keep it creaseless througout the day. I'll admit that I don't have the patience or the motivation to test the latter of the two because this primer failed me in the first area. When I deposit this primer on my eyelids, it effortlessly blends out easily, but here comes the hard part: Making the color of the eyeshadows more defined. The colors are just muddy looking after I blend it out, which means that this primer failed to "hold onto it". If it can't even stand its ground against the necessary act of blending, how am I going to trust it to withstand a full 24 hours of moisture, oilyness and the wrath of Mother Nature?

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Studio Powder Brush
rated 5 of 5
blingblingb8by 6/26/2010 11:53:00 PM

I just have to say that this powder brush is the softest brush I have ever owned in my life! . This brush picks up the right amount of powder and blends it out perfectly to seal my foundation. I love this brush so much that it's increasingly difficult to put it exactly into words because any set of words is incapable of describing the ultimate perfection in this $3 brush! Out of all the brushes on the ELF website, this is a must buy because you're almost guaranteed to love it!!!!!!

Makeup Brushes -Coastal Scents - 13 Pc Brush Set
rated 1 of 5
blingblingb8by 6/26/2010 11:48:00 PM

This is one of the cheapest looking and smelliest brush sets I've ever layed hands on, which is downright ironic for its price! First off, the powder and blush brush are a questionable auburn, reddish color and I think it's just downright weird! Most of the brushes in this set are evidently poorly made and flimsy to the touch, unable to pick up adequate amounts of eyeshadow and deposit it onto lids. Obviously, Coastal Scents cheaped out on producing better quality brushes and duped consumers into buying this piece of ****. The only brush that surpasses the others is the tiny, stiff crease brush, which I like to blend out harsh edges, but that's about it. Overall, this is SO not worth the price and if products speak out for the company, then Coastal Scents is a big disappointment!

Makeup Brushes -Coastal Scents - Tapered Crease Eye Brush (MAC 226 dupe)

When this brush came in the mail, I took one good look at it and shouted "WTF?" at the top of my lungs. It did not even look like the picture on the website, not even close at all. It was poorly cut and in desperate need of a wash (due to the icky smell). I washed it immediately and didn't expect much from it, but when I absentmindedly picked it up to blend out my eyeshadow one day, I was pleasantly suprised. With wind-shield wiper motions, it effortlessly blended out my eyeshadows and to this day, I still find myself reaching for this brush (over my MAC 224, mind you!) to get rid of the harsh lines. I even went as far as to test this on the day of my graduation and at the end of the sweaty, tear-inducing day, my eyeshadow was still flawlessly blended out, no mid-day touchups needed at all. For the price, you don't lose out on much, but you gain alot!

Makeup Brushes -MAC - 224 Tapered Blending (Windshield Wiper) Brush

A lot of people have raved about this brush on Youtube, gurus and MU artists alike! That is probably one of the sole reasons why I went out and bought this brush, but it was so heavily priced that my conscience kept refraining me from doing so until I had $30 in my wallet. It is obnoxiously priced, which is probably why MU Artist all recommend this because everyone knows for a fact that they can all afford this kind of luxury! LOL I'm not going to bust out and say that this is the best blending brush ever because I think the one from Coastal Scents is a lot better for its price, but I can say that it does its job pretty decently. You do have to wash this brush a couple of times to get rid of its "stiffness", but once the problem is gone, the brush just works its magic blending out colors and such. However, one comes across this question a lot: Will I buy this again? And my answer is a definite no because in my opinion, that 30 bucks is a lot better saved than spent! However, If it wasn't for that price, I would say GET IT because it's a reliable blending brush to have in your collection.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Satin Taupe
rated 2 of 5
blingblingb8by 6/26/2010 11:15:00 PM

This is probably another one of MAC's overly-hyped eyeshadows and I'm just wondering what makes this so praise worthy. It looks like a silvery grayish brown color and the fact that it's a Frost makes it even worse. I mean seriously, what can you even do with this? Many people use it as a crease color and I've tried this on my asian skin, but all it does is make me look like I just got punched in the eye! Which furthermore makes me question myself: I payed $15+tax for this? What has the world come to?

Eye Shadow -Stila - Kitten

Besides MAC Vanilla, I think this is by far one of the most over-hyped eyeshadows of all time. I mean seriously, you can't even go onto Youtube without some beauty guru raving about this. I'll admit, I fell into this craze and bought it on a whim but when it arrived in the mail, my expectations weren't exactly met. Granted, it is a very nice highlight color, but it can't exactly be utilized as an all over color because it's kinda like wearing a shimmery whitish pink color all over your lids and who wants to go around town looking like that? On the plus side, it is pretty easy to blend and it brightens up plain, neutral eye shadows but will I buy this again? Probably not. The value of this product isn't really worth it.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Mineralize Eyeshadow in Love Connection
rated 5 of 5
blingblingb8by 6/26/2010 11:00:00 PM

Like the name suggests, I have a "love connection" with this product! I'm always out in the market trying to find the perfect shimmery bronze color and when I saw this product at the MAC counter, I knew I just had to buy it! I'll admit that it IS kind of hard to load the color onto an eyeshadow brush, but all the effort is worth it when it comes into contact with your eyelids. (Corny much? LOL) It is breathtakingly beautiful with my skin tone and the color pops against my brown eyes. I am just so in love with this eyeshadow and it saddens me when I realize that this is Limited Edition after all and that no other MAC eyeshadow can ever compare (in my opinion)! However, there is one and only one downfall: the pinkish highlight color. It is not even pigmented at all and when you swipe it with an eyeshadow brush, you don't even get the color you expected. Instead, you get this kind of milkish pink color, which SO does not look good on anyone. So my advice is this: If you're looking for a really nice, shimmery bronze color, GET THIS! But if you're in the market for a good highlight: DITCH THIS.

Lip Treatments -eos - Lip Balm Sphere - Summer Fruit
rated 5 of 5
blingblingb8by 6/26/2010 10:31:00 PM

I just bought this today and I must say, I'M LOVING IT! Besides the uber cute packaging, once you actually open it up and take a whiff, the scent will totally blow you away! It is very light and refreshing and I find myself slathering it on periodically just to bask in the glory of its fragrance. I honestly think that there should be a body mist or a perfume dedicated to this scent because I would be first in line to buy it! Overall, I do find that it's pretty moisturizing (maybe because I keep reapplying it every second!) and it's not obscenely sticky and waxy on your lips. I will definitely repurchase this again (if I ever use this up soon, which is highly unlikely since you get so much product for your money)!

BB Cream -MISSHA - M Perfect Cover BB Cream
rated 5 of 5
blingblingb8by 6/24/2010 10:37:00 PM

I've been looking for the perfect foundation for awhile now, but I find that the selection in most drugstores favor those with pink undertones, rather than yellow undertones like us Asians. I've been hearing lots of good things about this BB cream, like the fact that it was made for patients who had undergone surgery, so from this point, I inferred that it had to be gentle even for the most sensitive skin and on the plus side, it had skin-whitening properties as well. The first time I layed hands on it, I just knew that it was right for me and it still is. It is probably one of the BEST foundations I have ever used. The consistency of it is just like a tinted moisturizer, but the coverage of it speaks otherwise! It is so easy to blend and it covers flaws like a dream. I barely need to touch up during the day and everyone keeps complimenting me on my skin! It makes your skin look absolutely flawless and I think that that is the most well kept secret in Asian society, but Missha BB cream just made it universally achievable for everyone!

Lipstick -NYX - Narcissus

This is probably one of the worst lipsticks on the face of this planet and not for just the obvious reason (Hello? Its like a fake barbie-looking pink color which SO does not look good on anyone!). honestly it makes you look like a clown and its not worth it to even wear it out much less buy it...

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #217 Blending
rated 5 of 5
blingblingb8by 8/2/2009 5:02:00 AM

This is probably one of the BEST blending brushes out there, in fact, it is my HG and MUST HAVE MAC brush. Initially, I was kind of hesitant to be shelling out more than 20 bucks for this brush, but like an addict, I finally caved in and bought it for myself (it also helps to have frends who give you giftcards!) and let me say this: WOW! Before, I thought I was doing an ok job blending out my eyeshadow but it looks amateurish compared to what this baby can do! You can buff out harsh lines and blend multiple colors together with the greatest of ease and not that much effort at all. Let me tell you, I was so used to gripping my old blending brush and blending out colors REALLY HARD, but with this, I can blend colors out with light brush strokes and it looks pretty damn good in the end. You should definitely invest in a good blending brush and stop buying the cheaper ones because if you do, you'll eventually save up enough money to buy this brush. I just wish I knew that earlier! -.-''

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Waterproof
rated 5 of 5
blingblingb8by 8/2/2009 4:53:00 AM

Needless to say, I finally jumped onto the whole Voluminous mascara craze and I just have to say that this is probably one of the best drugstore waterproof mascara that you can frequently find on sale (which is ahmazing if you ask me!). So let's cut to the chase, what are the characteristics that make it such a good mascara? Well, generally what you want in a good mascara is its ability to hold a curl and this does a pretty darn good job at it. It doesn't make your lashes clumpy (in fact, it hardly ever clumps!) or spidery-looking, but it gives you kind of like the false eyelash look that everyone's dying to get. It holds through just about anything: tears, humidity, etc and it NEVER EVER smudges or smears. It is the epitome of what a great mascara should be-and better! I HIGHLY recommend this if you have the typical "straight-down asian eyelashes" because it REALLY opens up your eyes and makes them look bigger. Buy it and try it. Hey, you're only shelling out a couple of bucks for a fantastic mascara with ahmazing results! :) ~♥~ OMG I can't believe this is featured on the "Product Reviews" page!!! :OOO
