Lip Gloss -Too Faced - Mirror Mirror Gloss - Envy Me
birdmadgirl 11/29/2008 4:01:00 AM
Envy Me is a dark berry/purple-ish lipgloss. It definitely has quite a bit of pigment, so if you are scared of a deeper shade of gloss, this one isn't for you. I have very fair skin and this gloss stands out, but not in a scary way. It's really pretty. It's a thick gloss, but not too sticky. It also stays on really well. It tastes terrible, however. It has a bitter taste that's pretty gross, but I love this gloss so much that I'm willing to deal with that. This is the second Too Faced product I've bought, and I'm really, really impressed with their products.
Lipstick -Clinique - Almost Lipstick - Black Honey

This is something that I've been meaning to buy for years and years, but I always seemed to forget about it when I'd be out shopping. Finally picked one up and you know what? It's a forgettable product. The problem, for me, is the formula. The color is great. On my fair skin, it's a nice reddish-berry. But the formula sucks. It's entirely too sheer, so I have to gloop it on, and then it lasts about 30 minutes, tops. I've got $7 lipglosses that last better than this. If Clinique made this in a regular lipstick, I'd be sold. As it is, this is something that I'll probably never use.
Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Black Amethyst- Eau De Toilette

I've already given the Black Amethyst lotion a rave review, and I love the EDT even more. I just feel sexier when I'm wearing this. It has a sensual, exotic scent. The BBW employee I talked to said that when men come in, they love this scent, so I guess it's not just me who thinks it just reeks of sex.
Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Black Amethyst Lotion

I had stopped going to BBW because I'd had my fill of smelling like a piece of fruit or a flower. Out of boredom, I popped in there and tried Black Amethyst recently. I ended up walking out with the lotion, shower gel, perfume and oil to burn in my little tealight burner. I like it that much! It's a different smell -- very sensual and dark. I think it's probably a scent that people will either really love or really hate. I really, really love it.
I've been using this non-stop over the past week. It smells so good and I love the golden sparkles. It looks good on its own -- and really good layered on top of lipstick. It lasts really well, too. I'm very, very happy with this product!
Before my latest hair disaster, back when my hair was blonde, I used this once a week to knock out the brassiness my hair seems to like so much. My hair would lose the orange and would be a pure, pretty, super-shiny blonde. The downside? This smells terrible! It smells like old lady. And it continues to smell for a couple of days. Despite that, I love Shimmer Lights, and when my hair recovers from the latest abuse I've put it through and I go back to being a blonde, I'll be using this once a week.
I picked this up in #7 Evening Primrose, which was supposed to be a dark blonde. It ended up being a grayish, greenish color on me, which is not exactly the look I was going after. I ended up getting 5 inches of hair chopped off Saturday morning. Fortunately, I had super-long hair to begin with, so it's not like I'm bald. But I do look like a soccer mom now. Again, not exactly the look I was after. I followed the instructions. I had medium blonde hair to start off with. I don't know what went wrong. I do know that I am very much done with playing hair stylist. And color that goes on my head in the future will be done with professional products by a professional and will not come out of a box I pick up at Target. I really, really miss my long hair...
Liquid -Cover Girl - TRUblend Liquid Makeup (12/2007 reformulation)
birdmadgirl 10/15/2008 12:08:00 AM
I want to like this. I really do. With it, I finally have found a foundation (#405) that works with my skin color (very fair and cool). It looks so good for about 2 hours ... and then it just slides off and I look like I've rubbed a handful of bacon grease all over my face. The amount of oil I produce while wearing it is just amazing in a really bad way. I tried to put a bit of powder on top to blot the shine/grease/oil slick and it started to gunk up in patches. Not good.
This is trying really hard to be Lash Blast, but it fails in a big way. It's just a mediocre mascara (that flakes like crazy on me). The tube is ugly. The brush is nothing special. And it stinks. It smells like dusty chocolate. Why does mascara need to be scented?!
Oh, this is bad. After buying and using a little $8 trial version, I'm going to have to plunk down the $$$ for a big tube from now on. I love this mascara. I look like I have falsies on when I wear it. It stays on with no flaking (it's darn hard to get off, too, even with eye-makeup remover). I'm really, really impressed.
Lip Treatments -Revlon - Beyond Natural Liptint SPF 15 ] [DISCONTINUED]
birdmadgirl 10/14/2008 11:54:00 PM
I picked two of these up, one in Deep Berry and one in Neural Pink. Deep Berry is a purplish shade that works well with my fair skin. It's good for adding some drama to my look. Neutral Pink is just that--a neutral, not-too-pink pink. It's good for a natural look. These are pretty decent lipsticks. They give good coverage and the little tubes are cute. I don't care much for the flat tops on the actual lipsticks, but that's just a personal preference.
Lip Gloss -Revlon - Beyond Natural Cream Lipgloss, all colors [DISCONTINUED]
birdmadgirl 10/14/2008 11:49:00 PM
I picked this up in Berry but it turns a really unattractive salmon color on my lips. That's bad. But what's even worse is the smell. It's sooooo overpowering. It smells like really thick vanilla cake frosting--it's revolting. It's so sickly sweet that even if the color didn't suck, I still wouldn't wear it because of the smell. On the plus side, the consistency is good and it stays on relatively well for a cheap lip gloss.
Eye Shadow -Revlon - Beyond Natural Cream to Powder Eye Shadow
birdmadgirl 10/14/2008 11:45:00 PM
I bought the Buff quad and I really, really wish the product weren't so crappy, because the colors are very pretty. It creases almost immediately, and what doesn't crease just disappears. I used to be so impressed with Revlon's products, but in the past two years, I've been disappointed over and over. This definitely is another disappointment.
Foundations -Rimmel - Lasting Finish Mineral Foundation
birdmadgirl 10/14/2008 11:40:00 PM
Absolute crap. I bought the lightest shade and it was so orange. I looked dirty. And that was after I managed to get it onto my face. The applicator is crap, too. It went straight into the trash.
I finally gave in to all the hype and recently picked this up. I'm surprised that I like it so much. It looks like it's going to be scary orange--and with my fair, cool-toned skin, I avoid anything orange like the plague. But this works on me. It really does give me that, well, big-O glow--a nice coral flush.
