Nails -Unlisted Brand - No Miss Almost Natural Polish Remover
bdurkey 1/26/2011 12:45:00 AM
I bought this product about 8 months ago and it no longer works. I saturated a cotton ball with this stuff, rubbed it onto my toenail for about a minute, and not one bit of my red polish was on the cotton ball. It worked okay before, nothing amazing, but no is useless. Plus, it smells like a horrible vanilla perfume I wore in the seventh grade. I love having green alternatives to beauty products, but if they don't work there's no point.
I wish I loved this. I do love the smell and flavor, it also is a nice shade on my lips. However, the texture is thick and waxy and sometimes when my lips are very dry it stings. No matter how nostalgic and cure and heartwarming a product is, painful stinging can't be tolerated.
Lotions/ Creams -Fresh - Sugar Blossom Hand Treatment

I was expecting amazing things from this lotion; I didnít get them. Thereís nothing wrong with this lotion, itís fine, but nothing special. The fragrance is pleasant, it has a nice texture, and the tube it comes in is attractive and has never clogged or crusted. But for the price and hype it does not keep its promises. I feel that it evaporates more than absorbs. My dry hands donít feel relief when I use this and still have that achy, dry feeling. I can see no difference on rough patches on my elbows. I wonít buy this again, Iíll stick with the Aveda hand lotion that actually accomplishes something and smells amazing.
Lotions/ Creams -Nature's Gate - Herbal Moisturizing Lotion with Papaya

I got a bottle of this for $4 at TJ Maxx. I wasn't expecting much from something so cheap, but I found that this is the perfect lotion for the summer. It has a very fuity scent, absorbs well, but isn't too greasy. I never had any problems with the pump cloging, which was surprising since the bottle lasted such a long time. I don't think that this would be moisturizing enough for the winter, but the scent lends itself to the summertime. For me, the scent was a little too fruity, but the scent doesn't linger for too long and it isn't offensive, just too strong. This is a nice lotion and I will try others by this brand. I've underestimated Nature's Gate and am glad their items are carried at TJ Maxx and Big Lots. I hope one of their lotions is able to help my winter skin.
Styling Products -Ouidad - PlayCurl Volumizing Mousse

I was looking forward to trying this line. However, this is the worst smelling hair product I have ever used. To me it smells like mothballs and cheap hairspray and was very strong and lasting. The smell was so bad I had to put my hair up to get it away from my nose. On top of the bad smell this product didn't do much. It did add a small amount of volume to my very fine hair, and managed not to get crunchy, which is saying something for a mousse on my hair, but not much else. Like one of the other reviewers stated adding other products helped, but what a pain! I'll try something doesn't need so much help. This item smells so bad I doubt I'll try any other products by Ouidad.
Skincare - Body -C.O. Bigelow - Chapped Hands Cleanser

I do not understand all the great reviews this product has gotten. It's like trying to wash my hands with Vasoline. My hands feel dirtier than before I used this product and in order to rinse it off I have to use very hot water. This dries my hands out so much it defeats the purpose of the product. No matter how much I rinse I always have some that stays between my fingers. I also don't like the idea of soap in a tub, I'm going to put my filty fingers into the same tub where I just put my filthy fingers? Soap in a pump makes more sense to me, and works much better than this. I'm glad I got this as a gift with purchase and didn't waste my money.
Treatments (Eye) -100 Percent Pure - Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream

When I used this product it only came in the jar, glad to see in now comes with a pump. I love that it's made of organic products and the smell. It did a good job of moisturizing, and had some effect on my under eye circles, but not as much as I'd like. The reason I decided not to buy this product again is that it didn't absorb well. Under my eyes felt slightly soggy and clammy so I was very happy when I ran out of this. I wish it had worked better for me.
Masks -DDF - Sulfur Therapeutic Mask [DISCONTINUED]
bdurkey 4/27/2008 10:00:00 AM
I bought this based on Dr Baumann's recommendations, with some reservations since it is so expensive but I love the ProActive sulfur mask and figured this one was worth it since she recommended it for my specific skin type (drwp). I found it hard to get the mask out of the tub it was so dense, this also made it difficult to apply. The mask was a little stinky, but didn't linger once it was washed off. It didn't upset my skin, but it wasn't anything amazing either. It was just as difficult to get off as it was to apply, I used a washcloth the first time but after that I only took it off in the shower because all the scrubbing I had to do to get it off made my face red. What upset me the most about this product was that after owning it a month it became dried out and I could hardly get it out of the tub at all, I had to throw most of it away. I will never buy this product again and am unlikely to buy anything else by DDF I hated this product so much.
Lip Treatments -Badger - Cocoa Butter Lipbalm in Coffee Roast
bdurkey 4/27/2008 12:19:00 AM
FIrst off, this does not smell like delicious, fresh roasted coffee: it smells like burnt, coffee ground's soggy nastiness. It also tastes slightly bitter. I bought this at Ulta because it was on sale and the cheapest lip balm in the store (hopefully they're discontinuing it). At first it went on fine, a bit waxy, but made my lips look shiny and pretty (hence the extra lippie). It didn't absorb into my lips but made the top layer of skin really thick and flake off, so that my lips were in worse shape than before I used this. If you want a lip balm with natural products you can do much better than this stuff.
Lotions/ Creams -Alba Botanica - Original Body Lotion
bdurkey 4/26/2008 6:19:00 PM
Moisturizing enough that it's what I use on my legs when I shave them in the winter. It's not at all greasy and very cheap, especially since I can often find it at TJ Maxx. I took a lippie off because the "Original" scent is god awful, get the unscented.
Deodorants -Earth Science - Liken Plant Natural Deodorant

Smelled good, didn't irritate my skin, affordable, didn't work. Sometimes 3 out of 4 isn't good enough.
Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Mitchum for Women Clear Gel Antiperspirant
bdurkey 4/26/2008 6:08:00 PM
I have been trying to find an organic deodorant that works half as good as this, and have been very unsucessful. This always keeps me dry and unstinky and never irritates my skin since it comes in an unsented version (there are versions for men and women, I get which ever one is on sale and don't see a difference). Most d/s brands don't work this well. It takes a little while to dry, but it works so well it could be made of ground up clubbed baby seals and I'll still use it. Great product.
Treatments (Eye) -Ren - Active 7 Radiant Eye Maintenance Serum
bdurkey 4/26/2008 5:59:00 PM
For me this was alot to spend on a product. I was looking for something to help with my dark circles and this product claimed to that. LIES! My undereyes were very hydrated but the circles were huge and darker than ever. If you're looking for something to moisturize or help with puffiness this would be a great option. Unfortunately this product made claims to help with dark circles, which it doesn't do at all, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. I hate it when a decent product claims to do more than it's capable of, so I don't feel that bad giving a bad review.
I do not get the negative reviews, this is my HG toothpaste. I have very plaquey teeth, so much so that my dentist was convinced I didn't brush my teeth, which of course I did. With this toothpaste I have almost no plaque build up and have been getting praise from my dentist. I've only used the mint and have had absolutely no problems, and might through a fit if it gets discontinued.
Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - L'annine Hand and Body Cream - Mango

I love the smell of this lotion, I just wish that it worked better. I'm a medical assistant so I wash my hands at least 10 times a day and this has zero lasting power, it also isn't as mouisturizing as I need it to be. For someone who only needs a light lotion this would work well, plus it's not as greasy as I had thought it would be. I got this on the sale table at Anthropologie this winter, so I don't know if it's still available there. I like the metal tube packaging and am willing to try other products by this company, if there are any.
