Treatments -Clarins - Bright Plus HP Intensive Brightening Smoothing Serum
babyslk7 1/2/2011 6:49:00 PM
Attention: This is for the new HP brightening serum with 'Sea Lily' flower. I got mine in Asia, so I'm not sure if the formula will be the same like the one they sell in US. But, I'm buying my 2nd bottle from Sephora in US, package is coming soon. I will add more review. I bought this to fade my old acne dark spots, lots of them still pinkish and new, few are brown. I have to say, IT WORKS!!! In fact, I only been using it for less than a month. I can see my face is brighter and marks are lighter. Plus, I'm Asian with light/medium skintone. It's been a pain in A## to remove my hormonal acne and acne marks. I'm 29 now and my derm put me on spironolactone 100mg/day and tretinoin cream for the past 4 months. I really think the spiro helps with my adult acne, not the retin A. My skin is normal now, used to be oily and blot many times per day. Now, it's winter time, less sun, so this is a good time to fade those ugly marks. The serum is kinda pricey and it has that lily flowery smell. But, I'm OK. Texture is a bit thicker for serum and I think I can finish one bottle pretty fast, probably 2 1/2 months? It's non greasy and feels good under any kind of moisturizer or sunscreen. I'm using Elta MD non oily sunscreen, BTW (highly rec, medical grade). It sad, that the whole Clarins HP brightening line has wider range in Asia than US. I'm very eager to buy the cleanser, toner, everything. I really like this. Skinceuticals Pigment regulator doesn't worked on me and don't like the texture, maybe more suitable for Caucasian skin. Asian pigmentation is very tough to get rid of.

Toners -Shu Uemura - Purenovate Clarifying Lotion
babyslk7 12/31/2010 10:02:00 PM
I got this during Sephora FF 20% in fall 2010. I'm glad I took the plunge to try Shu new toner. It's kinda expensive, but then again this is Shu Uemura, made in Japan from high quality. I have oily/acne skin. I'm 29 now and still suffering from adult acne almost everyday. Since July/Aug 2010, my derm prescribed me Spironolactone 50mg and increased to 100mg/day, along with Retin A generic cream 0.05%. 4 months has passed and I do feel the spiro working on me. My face is less oily, less pimples. Believe it or not, I don't touch up with Mac blot anymore, nothing during the day. I normally go thru blotting paper multiple times and touch up with powder. Back to the toner, this doesn't cause any additional dryness in conjunction with Retin A usage. I totally find it an immediate refreshing feeling. Doesn't pull the skin. I just feel clean and fresh. I will repurchase. Doesn't disappoint me.

Sunscreen -EltaMD - UV Shield SPF 45
babyslk7 11/10/2010 10:35:00 PM
This is great for oily/acne prone skin. My med spa rec me this item and I never looked back for any other brand as my daily face sunscreen/moisturizer. I'm not a fan of sunscreen and yeah at 29, this is what deserved to get, fine lines on my forehead are showing already. I was a sun worshiper at my younger age and I still do now, but much less. Anyway, back to Elta MD, this is my favorite compared to UV Clear with Niacin one. This sunscreen feels like NOTHING and doesn't smell, no whitecast at all and I have ethnic Asian skin. Fantastic!!! It doesn't make me feel dry either. But, normal to dry skin gals, I think better off with the moisturizer one. It doesn't flake with my YSL Matte touche primer, whereas UV Clear Niacin does. One tube last more than 6 months for me, which is a good buy. I don't think it's expensive, it really last for a long time. In fact I'm buying my 3rd tube now. Get it from lovelyskin.com (It's the cheapest, google it for their coupon code, they always have sale during public big days/holidays).

Treatments -Skinceuticals - Pigment Regulator
babyslk7 10/19/2010 12:19:00 AM
I'm giving it 3 lippies right now. It cause me 'hives' right on the area where I spot treated on 3rd day. I bought mine 6 sample tubes from ebay. I'm glad, I did it, so you don't have to shed $80. 6 tubes can last for a few months which is good. It's better you test them first. Since, the samples don't have any instruction or ingredients. I went google it and found out, it contains sodium metabisulfite. My derm gave me Obagi Blender in the past and I broke out in hives pretty much everyday. So, I returned the product and she told me, I think I'm allergic with sulfite. Obagi Blender also contains metabisulfite and it stated: Warnings: Contains sodium metabisulfite, a sulfite that may cause serious allergic type reactions (e.g. hives, itching, wheezing, anaphylasix, severe asthma attacks) in certain susceptible persons. I'm always unfortunate to try skin bleaching products for my past acne marks. The only safe product so far is Mario Badescu glycolic cleanser or anything that has glycolic for my skin. But, it can be drying and it works slowly on Asian/ethnic skin especially. I will update more.

Concealers -Giorgio Armani - high precision retouch
babyslk7 9/19/2010 8:28:00 PM
I just discovered this from MUA :)) I've been using Make Up Forever under eye concealer, the one in the tube for years and it last like forever. It's good, but not perfect and I still can see the concealer patches under certain lighting. This Armani is expensive, but the texture is different. It's light weight, medium pigmented and it brightens the dark circles little bitI'm Asian with light/med skintone, yellow undertone. I picked 3.5. They only have 3 colors and this is the darkest one. The other 2 suits for fair or fair/light skin gals. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Primer/ Corrector -Stila - One Step Correct
babyslk7 9/16/2010 3:33:00 PM
I've been using this for over 1 month now. Honestly, I do like the texture and how it feels on my face, a bit cooling affect after you put it on. Yes, it's not really a primer or serum, it's a bit different from other primers. It brightens just a tiny bit of your face after you apply it due to the color correctors. But, nothing like whitening, etc. I tested this in warm dry Los Angeles weather and also San Francisco cold, breezy weather. Oil controlling, not really, my cheeks still turns oily like normally I do. I think, yes it keeps makeup in place. It's hard to detect which primer really does wonder for your makeup. It took me more than 6 months to really give review and realize my YSL matte primer is actually pretty good. So far my top primers are this and YSL matte. But, I do feel, my YSL primer makes my makeup looks/stay better than Stila. Texture wise, I prefer Stila, it's easy to glide on your skin. Sometimes it's a bit hard to blend with BE foundation, it dries sticky, just like the first reviewer. Overall, 4 stars.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Super Rescue Antioxidant Night Moisturizer
babyslk7 9/5/2010 5:19:00 AM
I never be a fan of Clinique. Tried some of their stuff a couple of times, but none really makes me wow or repurchase. My fav one is this and mascara base. I almost finish the tube now. Bought it last Nov 09, but I didn't use it religiously everyday, only when I feel dry or like it. I have oily/acne skin since I was 16. I'm 29 now and break out everyday due to hormonal adult acne. My new dermatologist prescribed me tretinoin cream recently and it makes me peel little bit and I live in dry So Cal weather. So, I started using this again every night before tretinoin. I do see immediate result in the morning. It heals my acne faster, honestly. That's why I use it without fail every night. I got it in dry/combo skin, because that's the only one they sell at my Sephora store. I was skeptical in the beginning, because I have oily skin. I love the texture, easy to smooth on and it's enough hydration for me. Although, my skin looks a bit oily or over moisturized after I put it on. It brightens the complexion and help reduce the red acne marks. I'm asian, ethnic skin, probably if you are lighter than mine, you will see more improvement on discoloration. It's a really good night cream and since I'm a smoker, I really need this. I will repurchase.

Cleansers -First Aid Beauty - Face Cleanser
babyslk7 8/13/2010 6:32:00 PM
First, I got the deluxe sample fr Sephora and then I went to the store for a full size tube. For some reason, I really like sample more than the full size. I feels it's more foamy. I've finished the whole tube now and went back to Mario Badescu Enzyme gel cleanser. I like to alternate brands. I know it's bad...Overall, it's a good basic cleanser and this is what I expected from Cetaphil or Johnson&Johnson cleanser. It does remove all make up, but I do recommend separate eye makeup remover if you use heavy mascara or underline your eyes. I do squirt about 1 inch of this or a bit more. Rinse with warm water afterward.

Treatments (Eye) -Unlisted Brand - Latisse Lash Growth Drops
babyslk7 8/13/2010 6:13:00 PM
This is for LATISSE. I used my 1st bottle of Latisse last year 2009 and it worked. I got compliment from my aunt, she thought I was wearing falsies. As an Asian, my eyelashes are ok, not too short and super straight. I highly recommend using Shiseido Majolica Majorca the one in a comb shape. I think it's called Lash Expander, but I heard they changed the formula little bit and the name added with Plus at the end. I really love the 2009 formula, sometimes I added Loreal Voluminous mascara on top. The only cons of Latisse, the area that I put this on, tends to get red, which is normal. I've used LilLash in 2008 and got the same effect. Expensive indeed. I just found out about the generic brand. But, I just purchased my 2nd bottle of Latisse 2 wks ago, because I'm so desperate to grow my lashes back due to really bad eyelash perm and extension. I do not recommend eyelash extension at all. I hate it for life. Just stick to eyelash perm that's done by professional Japanese esthetician. I truly only trust Japanese ppl for this after my horrid experience. Extension is hard to take care and damaging your lashes.

Treatments -Wella - Liquid Hair Leave-In Restructurizer
babyslk7 8/1/2010 8:01:00 PM
Well, this product has been discontinued as in 2008 or 09, I believe. I'm dying to find it or anything that can replace it. Guess what??? I think Wella just put them back on market with new packaging. Google it. I got it from my Japanese salon in SF and since I moved down to So Cal, I found my other Japanese stylist also uses this on his clients. I asked him, where did U get it. He's like, Ohhh..it's been disc and I use it sparingly, it's a really good stuff. I totally agreed with him!!! This thing makes my hair so healthy and not heavy or flat. In fact, I have fine, thin and flat straight asian hair. So, it's hard for me to find a leave in conditioner or any volumizing stuff that won't weight my hair down. Most products are too heavy for me. Also, my scalp gets oily the next day. So, I'm very very picky. If anybody can find an alternate to this, pls send me a msg. This Wella is in transparent bottle in yellowish liquid/water with grey nozzle. AMAZING, I love this more than Kerastase products. My 2nd favorite is Japanese Milbon, Nigelle ER treatment/conditioner in yellow line. Love love!!!

Pressed Powders -GloMinerals - Perfecting Powder
babyslk7 7/26/2010 3:36:00 AM
I find this powder to be ok to good. It doesn't absorb or control oily skin, but it just gives you the matte finish, yet not completely dead dry matte. I like MAC blot powder better for touch up, although the Medium Dark shade can be a bit too white if you touch up too much. And the next shade of MAC is too dark for me. I have oily/acne skin at age 29.

Lip Treatments -Laura Geller - Lip Strip Cooling Sugar Scrub
babyslk7 7/26/2010 3:30:00 AM
It's OK for me. I tried it on my flaky lips, it didn't remove the flaky skin completely. I ended up peeling them on my own and bled little bit. Yes, bad habit, cos I hate when lipstick application is not smooth. It's minty and sweet, which is a plus. I returned my LUSH sugar scrub, cos I find them to be equally similar to plain sugar and a bit too harsh. I wished the LG contains more sugar, yet still creamy. I think it's going to work better. Expensive, too.

Toners -Mario Badescu - Glycolic Acid Toner
babyslk7 7/23/2010 7:09:00 PM
At age 29, I break out everyday and it's considered adult acne. I've suffered from acne since I was 16. Adult acne is very hard to deal with, because it's internal. I've tried so many diff skincare brands in the past, mostly dept store or high end brands, but none really helps. I'm a bit skeptical to use drugstore brands for acne, cos it's more harsh and suitable for teens. I don't really have good exp with drugstore brands overall. So, anyway, I've used MB products in the beginning of 2000 and I kinda liked it at that time. No fancy packaging and ingredients are pretty simple. I recently bought the Enzyme cleansing gel 3 months ago and I'm back on it again along with this toner. I had 3 nights of partying last week and my skin is a wreck now (lack of sleeping plus sleeping with makeup). I don't normally do this, but I was on vacation with some old buddies. I knowww...it's bad for the skin. I have like 6 pastules on my face and went panic. I've been using this toner for 4 nights and it heals the inflammation plus my skin is so soft. (I also use Jan Marini glycolic gel after). I always love glycolic acid products, they works the best with my acne skin. I don't like BP, salicylic acid comes 2nd after glycolic. It doesn't sting my face, just a bit, typical glycolic feeling. I don't have sensitive skin tho. Great products, non drying. My best advice for adult acne: the less product you use, the better, just get some basic one, cleanser, tone, sunscreen and sometimes night cream. I have oily/acne skin. I do believe in toner, cos it brings back the PH balance and bacteria can't grow in PH balanced skin, plus it removes all trace of makeup.

Treatments -TheFACEShop - Clean Face White-Post Acne Brightening Serum
babyslk7 7/7/2010 9:44:00 PM
I got a deluxe sample for this in a small tube. But this tube last pretty long. Been using it for a month now, still some left for another month perhaps. I find it to be OK. It works little bit. It doesn't cause me any allergic reaction like their facial wash. I can get hives in random time after using it. But, I do like their Clean White line and I still like their cleanser, too. So, I keep on using it. The hives go away by itself. I ended up buying their spot eraser, it's $18. I think it works faster, but I use it on top of the serum just like they recommend it. I will update. I think Face Shop products is reasonably priced and some of them are pretty good. I like their charcoal nose strips, so far my favorite one.

Scrubs -Phytomer - Purifying Gommage Exfoliant
babyslk7 5/22/2010 8:36:00 PM
I discovered Phytomer from my facialist. She said she prefers European skincare, cos it's less harsh and chemicals than the rest. I love this scrubs, it's different method from all regular scrubs that I've tried. It's best to just leave it on your face for about 7 mins or 10 mins the most. Otherwise it will get too dry and hard to scrub in some spots. Love the slight marine cooling feeling and yeah baby bum skin afterwards. I'm going to convert all my skincare to this brand once I finish mine. My next purchase would be the Lift contour lips and eyes, the mask and cleanser :))
