Scrubs -Noxzema - Clean Blemish Control Daily Scrub
asortafairytale 12/27/2010 10:55:00 PM
I love everything about this. I wanted a multitasking product to cleanse, exfoliate, and treat acne, and not dry out or irritate my skin, and cost less than 10 bucks. This is all of that. I use a cleansing cloth to remove makeup at night, but this does lather and cleanse too. There are lots of gentle micro scrubbies - just the right amount. its cleared up my skin - Ive been dealing with acne for years, and Im almost 30, Im sick of it. (tried everything OTC you can think of) Im amazed that the 1% salicylic acid is all my skin needed. It doesnt contain menthol, although there still is a slight tingle. it doesnt smell like normal noxzema, its more fruity. but its really gentle. I paid $6 for it, and its a 5oz tube with a flip cap. Its winter and my skin is dry so I finish with some nivea creme (my creme de la mer dupe.... I wish I had money for THAT) and my skin hasnt looked this good in a long time. the tone of my skin is improving - post acne red spots are fading, and my skin is soft and clear.. Love this! Will definitely buy it again

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Miracle
asortafairytale 11/20/2010 8:02:00 PM
Im not loyal to any foundation, so I skip around a lot. I thought I would try this one with the VIB 20% off sale at Sephora (last weekend). I'm not regretting the purchase. Its a nice foundation - First off the packaging is nice, its a pump. Heavy glass container though, I prefer plastic because I always drop things. but it looks nice. The foundation is very fluid, and I was surprised how little I needed. Just 1/2 a pump will cover my whole face and create a nice even tone, then I use smaller dabs under my eyes and over any blemishes. Covers really well. But.... by mid day I am pretty shiny. It doesnt settle into pores, but it transfers off fairly easily on me. Im naturally oily anyway though. I use La Mer loose powder on top. Im very breakout prone, and broke out with Lancome's mineral foundation (the one with the vibrating puff) but Ive been using this for a week and no signs of clogged pores at all. I was amazed how little of this I needed to get it to look good. And because of that, it feels really light (unlike Colorstay which is what I was using before). Because of that, I would buy this again. *****update 1/21/11****** upgraded this to 5/5. no breakouts with this, still. I put this away for a few weeks and went back to La Mer fluide foundation, but I find I like this better! Its so light, and the shade selection is great for fair skinned people like me. It takes just one pump to get great coverage, and a nice glow. I love it.

Masks -Bliss Labs - Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask
asortafairytale 11/14/2010 8:13:00 PM
definitely made my skin look brighter after the first use, and more as I kept using it. if you look at the ingredients, it can be used as a cleanser. Smells wonderful like oranges. Your skin has to be damp for this to foam up the best. Way too expensive, but I'll still buy it because its fabulous. I like that it has a pump, and it does unscrew so you can get the last bits out if you keep it upside down. I hate the cap though - I always seem to pick it up by the cap, and its not tight enough so the bottle always falls. oh well. It says use no more than 3x a week, but you could use it every day.

Skincare - Face -Murad - Acne Complex©
asortafairytale 10/21/2010 9:59:00 PM
yikes. I just finished the 30 day kit from sephora for $33. after 3 days my skin was clearer. and my skin felt fresh and clean. but 2 weeks later I was broken out SO badly. I had what looked like a welt on my forehead. I never get breakouts on my forehead (mostly on my cheeks). I heard it gets bad before getting better, but I just dont want to deal with it so I gave up. Clinique acne solutions works better and is cheaper. and murad is really over priced.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Sensuous

Mix the sweet scent of an ice cream shop/ doughnut shop with the smell of a campfire, throw in lots of pepper and a little sandalwood and you get this. I love it. I'm not a perfume girl either. And I've hemmed and hawed for two years on whether to buy this, finally bought it today. It's perfect for fall.

Hair -L'Oreal - Elnett Hairspray
asortafairytale 6/6/2010 8:32:00 PM
wow cant believe this doesnt have better reviews. a few sprays of this with my head upside down near the roots, then run a brush through and I have a ton more volume. only downside is that I smell kinda like hairspray all day. I wish it had a better scent to it. great stuff, at least for my thin hair. never got flakies or anything nasty from it.

Treatments -Ojon - Hydrating Thickening Spray
asortafairytale 6/6/2010 8:28:00 PM
$30 is a bit much, but its SO worth it. I tried cheaper volumizing/thickening sprays but nothing compares to this. My hair is pretty fine, this gives it more oomph without being greasy or sticky. I spray it on towel-dried hair and then blow dry. Followed with Elnet hairspray and whoa volume! I get complements (even from guys) when I do this combination.

clogged my pores like crazy so I couldnt use it long enough to see results. bummer! **** edit 6/4/2010******** currently using this after clarisonic+neutrogena oil free acne wash (redness soothing formula) and the proactiv 3-step, and I no longer get clogged pores. been using this clinique serum morning and night for 2 weeks now and I must say I have seen noticeable lightening of my acne scars! Will definitely finish up the bottle and probably buy more, depending on if I'll even need it by then. Im impressed.

Skincare - Face -Pro Activ - 3-Step System
asortafairytale 5/11/2010 8:40:00 PM
cant understand the haters. Ive used this on and off for years, its always worked to clear me up in a couple weeks. but then I'd get clear and stop using it thinking I outgrew acne. but then find out the hard way I didnt. the NEW version of proactiv works even faster. I was clear within 5 days and it didnt dry my skin. Im going to keep using it to stay clear this time. this works. try it!

Hair Color -Clairol - Nice 'n Easy Perfect 10
asortafairytale 4/30/2010 9:55:00 AM
Wow I finally found the perfect auburn red color, in the "Light Auburn" shade. Warning though - this isnt a light auburn. its definitely medium auburn. I had been using the "Light Auburn" by ColorSilk, but the color was not even lasting 4 weeks, even though I use a color-protective shampoo/conditioner. This Perfect 10 was the most expensive hair color on the shelf though - I paid $11.99 at CVS. But its well worth it! For one, you only leave it on for 10 minutes, instead of 25 or 30 like with most others. It does smell strongly, so make sure your bathroom is vented well. The formula is perfect - doesnt drip, but at the same time its "liquidy" enough to coat all of my hair. And there was enough product to cover all my hair, which is quite a few inches past my shoulders. I always hate it when I dye my hair and if I lift up some in the back you can see it didnt take up color like the rest. This doesnt happen here! I think its partly to do with the applicator. I was afraid that applicator would be gimmicy, but it was very helpful. I did use the regular nozzle to do the roots first, though. They give you a large tube of conditioner that you're supposed to use once a week after coloring, like what Feria does. It really does help keep the shine and softness going. Definitely if you're looking for a medium auburn, this is it, even though it says Light! I will definitely repurchase.

Bronzers -L'Oreal - Bronzer Body Tinted Gel (One day)
asortafairytale 4/29/2010 5:31:00 PM
I hate hate hate the smell of self tanner on me, so I'd much rather use a bronzer every day than a self tanner every few days. I also hate the orange fake look of self tanners. Even when they say they're not orange, they are on me (Im very pale, irish coloring). The smell and the orange color are ubiquitous in self tanners because they all use the same ingredient. BUT this stuff - its only a bronzer, and it is the PERFECT tan color! even on pale me! No streaks, it dries fast, it looks REAL. No stink, no orange. You know instantly how the color will look so you can add more or wash it off. I do one leg quickly, then wash and dry my hands. then the other and wash and dry my hands. otherwise its hard to get off my hands. The color does not transfer onto my clothes, and does not require scrubbing to take off in the shower the next day. I paid 10 bucks at CVS, for a 6oz pump. Will definitely repurchase.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HiP Crystal Duo (generally)
asortafairytale 4/26/2010 10:09:00 PM
bought this in Mystical (teal/champagne duo) and there is some fallout but I love the color, they go great together, and look awesome with green eyes. I think it is pigmented well for a drugstore brand. I use the sponge applicator that came with it, not a brush. Used the champagne color all over, and the teal to line my eyes. very pretty!

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
asortafairytale 4/15/2010 10:48:00 AM
the staying power of this foundation is fantastic! after 12 hours at work I didnt have to touch up anything, didnt have to blot either. that is saying something - usually liquid foundations cake, and mineral foundations look chalky on me, after 3 hours. And with other liquid foundations, if I touch my face or itch my nose, I always get makeup on my fingers or under my nail. I dont have that with Color Stay. It also covers acne scars very well. The downside - its a PAIN to apply. its tacky and sticky and doesnt blend easily. It almost feels like elmers glue. So it takes a long time to get it just right (reason for the 4/5 rating) But I suppose that is worth it for how well it lasts and looks. I use La Mer loose powder over top and it looks flawless. Color selection is great. I usually take the lightest shade, and 150 (Buff) is a perfect neutral fair color. Price is right, I paid $13 but had a coupon. packaging sucks, should be a pump. No breakouts from it. You do need a good makeup remover for it. When I was testing colors in the store, I tried the wrong one first on my hand (much darker) and the next day I could still see the dark streak, and I wash my hands a lot. use a cleansing oil on dry skin, and it will work. Really good foundation! **************** 4/26/10 - upgrading my rating to a 5. I use this over creme de la mer gel moisturizer, and its goes on much more smoothly, and is less sticky. Still awesome coverage, literally all day long! this is HG status! love it!

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Smoky ShadowBlast in Silver Sky
asortafairytale 2/28/2010 7:10:00 PM
nice idea, not so nice formula. it is greasy and smudgy (not in a good way), and not at all pigmented. the good thing is that the color is subtle enough to wear to work, and I usually do a no-makeup look anyway. for that, I like it. its also portable and you dont need brushes to put it on... but if you're looking for a glam smoky eye, save your 8 bucks. or use it to buy a rimmel quad shadow.
