Cleansers -Dr. Brandt - Poreless Cleanser
rated 2 of 5
archangeli 5/16/2006 6:27:00 PM

This cleanser came with the Poreless kit and I wasn't impressed. First off, it smells like industrial bathroom soap. The scent makes me want to gag - it's so chemical smelling. As a cleanser it is decent - definitely not better than anything you could find in a drugstore aisle though. Will not repurchase.

Polishes -Chanel - Ballerina
rated 5 of 5
archangeli 5/8/2006 10:53:00 AM

This is my tried and true favorite manicure colour. It is a pale pink, less peach-toned than Flamme Rose. A couple coats and it looks like I’ve had a French manicure, without any fuss. Perfect for a simple, clean look.

Chanel's nail enamels are my favorite for color and not chipping. My manicure can last a full 7 days before I need to change it. There must be something about the brushes in them too because after using Chanel for a while, I switched to an old drugstore colour that I like and got so frustrated that I chucked it and used Ballerina again!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Shadestick - Sea Me
rated 4 of 5
archangeli 5/8/2006 10:51:00 AM

It took me a while before I was brave enough to wear this bold turquoise colour but now it’s one of my favourites in my stash for when I want to spice things up a bit. This one has a slight pearlescence to it, but it’s not shimmery. The MAC Shadesticks are amazing for not smearing, staying bright and true and it applies so easily. It is slightly blendable after applying, but once it sets it is not budging! I love wearing this colour with LORAC’s shimmer eye pencil in Blue Topaz, and also with UD Peace e/s.

You do need a good eye makeup remover to get this off though (I suggest MAC’s eye makeup remover). My trick is to put remover onto a cotton pad and hold it over the eye – no rubbing – for a few seconds. This gives the remover a chance to loosen the liner and it comes off much easier.

Lotions/ Creams -BeneFit Cosmetics - Touch Me Then Try To Leave Me cream [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
archangeli 5/8/2006 10:50:00 AM

Price: $10 For 40 ml/ 1.3 fl. Oz
I picked up the new miniature of this at Sephora on a whim because I love the Bathina Shower Gel. The scent of this is the same as the shower gel and Maybe Baby line. I love the Maybe Baby shimmer body lotion for the delicious scent, but sometimes the glitter is unnecessary so this item will be a keeper. It has the same peony, peachy fragrance that is just so pretty and I feel so refreshed when I smooth this on after a bath.

Moisturizers -LUSH - Afterlife
rated 1 of 5
archangeli 5/8/2006 10:49:00 AM

Price: $42.95 for 45g/ 1.5 oz
This is the most expensive cream in LUSH’s line and boasts the most impressive list of ingredients like honey, olive oil, freshed juiced mango, evening primrose oil, avocado oil, wheatgerm oil, coconut oil, Rose, Frankincense oil and Patchouli oil but is unimpressive. The product is heavily perfumed like baby powder, and the scent doesn’t dissipate. I used it a couple times and my little tub has since expired and I threw it out.

Considering the price of this cream, the packaging is less than stellar. True to LUSH’s style, it comes in a little deli-styled plastic tub but it is cumbersome to open and close. Not impressed, do not recommend and will never repurchase!

Eyeliner -MAC - Powerpoint eye pencil in Engraved
rated 4 of 5
archangeli 5/7/2006 7:58:00 PM

OK - this is the best black eye PENCIL I've ever used in terms of not-smudging, long lasting and staying a true black (not turning blue or greenish on me).
HOWEVER - if you want the "perfect" black eyeliner then stick to MAC's Fluidline in Blacktrack.
I use this pencil for creating smokier looks. I can't use any kohl pencils because they make me look like I got punched in the face. This liner has just enough smudge-factor and it stays put after I'm done. I love the softness of the pencil - there is no tugging on my eyelids. It comes off nicely with the MAC Eye Makeup Remover. I think I'm on my 4th Engraved pencil and will continue to repurchase.

Blush -NARS - Sin
rated 5 of 5
archangeli 5/7/2006 7:52:00 PM

I received Sin in a swap over a year ago and it has become one of my staples. I'm an NC30/ 30 Watts Asian and I prefer Sin to Orgasm because it gives me a more natural look (peach shades don't work on me). I find that when I'm not sure which blush to use, this is the one I reach for. I've only made a slight dip in my pan so I'm sure I'll be using this blush for a very long time, but I would repurchase in a heartbeat!

Lip Gloss -MAC - Star Nova
rated 5 of 5
archangeli 5/7/2006 7:46:00 PM

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this gloss yet. This is one of my HG daily-use YLBB shades. It's a cool-toned mauvy pink colour with just the right about amount of shine to it. I'm a NC25-30 with very pigmented lips and this gloss adds just the right amount of color. It lasts about 4 hours before I need to reapply, which is perfectly fine for a normal day at work. I love the texture of this gloss as it isn't as sticky as lipglass and I prefer the brush applicator of the lustreglasses. I'm nearing the end of my tube so I'm going to have to buy another one soon!

Eyeliner -LORAC - Eyeshadow-Liner Sparkle Pencil in Blue Topaz
rated 4 of 5
archangeli 5/7/2006 7:41:00 PM

Price: $23.00 (CDN)
Beautiful ocean blue eye pencil with chunky silver glitter. I saw this on the model in a Sephora catelog and immediately went out to pick one up. I use it as a top liner, and the line the inner rims (top and bottom) with MAC's Sea Me Shadestick to intensify the colour. The glitter isn't very obvious unless you are about 3 feet away. Comes off easily with my MAC Eye Makeup Remover (glitter and all!).

Styling Products -Frederic Fekkai - full volume mousse
rated 1 of 5
archangeli 5/7/2006 7:37:00 PM

Price: $24.00 (CDN)
This product did absolutely nothing for me. It certainly didn't volumize anything and the mousse was because of the pump bottle, not the actual product. If you let this product sit in your hand it "sizzles" and reverts back to liquid. It left my hair sticky and had a funny smell that lingered in my hair. If it had smelled like the glossing cream I might have considered keeping it, but since it smelled weird and didn't do anything for me I returned it to Sephora. Don't waste your money on this product.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Deluxe Eyeshadow - Peace
rated 5 of 5
archangeli 5/7/2006 7:33:00 PM

Price: 24.00 (CDN)
When I saw this colour I knew I HAD to have it. I haven't seen any colour quite like it. It's a gorgeous frosty teal. The texture of this shadow is silky, smooth and the pigment lasts all day. I wear it with Bare Escentuals Azure glimmer dusted over my entire eye area as a base, then Peace on top, and MAC's Sea Me Shadestick as a liner on top and on my bottom rims. Love it!

Liquid -Stila - Illuminating Liquid Foundation
rated 4 of 5
archangeli 5/7/2006 7:25:00 PM

Price: $49.00 (CDN)
I wear the shade 30 Watts and it is a perfect match to my asian skintone. I'm usually a BE user, but when I want a more glamorous and polished look I don't mind doing a full face. I love the pump bottle - very sanitary and the bottle looks so pretty sitting on my vanity.

As other reviewers have said, this foundation has a slight shine to it, but that can be easily dulled down with a dusting of powder (which I have to use anyways to minimize oiliness in my T-zone).

One thing that no one has mentioned and I feel is very important is the smell - or actually the LACK thereof! Nothing makes me want to take a product back faster than heavy fragrances or chemical smells. I like this foundation very much and would repurchase when I run out!

Eye Shadow -Stila - Shadow Pots Eye Mousse Amber
rated 5 of 5
archangeli 5/7/2006 7:18:00 PM

Price: $27.00 (CDN) for a 4g pot
I bought this little gem at Sephora and I am absolutely in love with it. I love the consistency, ease of application and longevity of this product. Amber is a misleading name for this colour as it is more of a silvery mauve. Very pretty and very versatile! A light wash of it can be used as a base for other colours or you can layer it for a bolder look. I use a bit of UDPP under it and it doesn’t crease or fade on me! My favourite look (at least for the moment) with this product is a smoky eye with MAC Engraved pencil and a bit of Stila Heather on the browbone. I’ve received so many compliments when I wear that combination. Love this product and this pot will last a very long time!

Concealers -MAC - Studio Lights - Sand
rated 4 of 5
archangeli 1/21/2006 8:53:00 PM

Price: $17.50 (CDN) for a 5 mL tube

MAC has re-packaged this product for the Beauty Icon 3 collection. It used to be in a click-pen like YSL Touche Eclat and now it is in a lipglass tube. I like the control of the wand applicator much better than a click pen.

I swiped all 3 shades on the back of my hand, and though all of them are very sheer and blend seamlessly into my NC25 Asain skin, I felt that Sand was the best match for me.

I was surprised by the consistency of this product. It is very light and watery, but it blends in VERY well. I appreciate this since I don't like to have to work things into the delicate skin under my eyes.

I've discovered a trick to this product. Apply a light layer, let it dry and set, then apply a second light layer. This is enough to hide the circles under my eyes under normal light. In photographs, this product makes my undereye circles completely VANISH.

If you don't have circles of doom, give this product a try. I was pleasantly surprised by it, but I wouldn't recommend it if you are trying to get heavier coverage.

Palettes -MAC - Catherine Deneuve Laze Eyes 4
rated 3 of 5
archangeli 1/20/2006 10:53:00 PM

I love MAC's quads, but it since I have all three of the existing shades (Shale, Vanilla, Kid) already, I really can't justify shelling out the $42.50 for it. I'm getting bored of MAC's safe purple toned quads. There was Tease Me, Diana 1 and those "other" purple quads from last year. If you are looking for a daily wear kit, or a good MAC sampler then by all means get this quad. The colors are pretty, completely wearable and work well together. But even for me as a MAC collector, I'm passing.
