Primer/ Corrector -Laura Mercier - Foundation Primer-Mineral
amygirl3540 1/30/2011 6:01:00 PM
In the past I have used LM foundation primer, but decided to purchase the mineral primer instead. I am so glad I did! At first I was not sure if I was going to like it b/c it feels slightly gritty when applied. I have to use a little more and smooth it over and it provides a perfect, silky, matte base for me to apply my foundation. I will use either LM tinted moisturizer or MAC Studio Fix liquid or powder over it. LM primers are the only ones that don't break me out. I've tried Smashbox and immediately washed it off my face for how icky it made my skin feel. I will definitely repurchase. I have been very satisifed with ALL of my LM products. I think her line is especially nice for when my skin gets oily in the summer. This LM mineral primer is the perfect first step in getting a flawless face!

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stiletto
amygirl3540 1/29/2011 7:11:00 PM
Ok, so I'm not sure what the hype is about this. I got this to try it out b/c so many people seem to love this mascara. I was not impressed. It didn't do much, the black wasn't black enough, and it was FLAKY. I tried it several times over a few weeks and just ended up throwing it away. It was one of the worst yet. I really like L'Oreal Voluminous in Carbon Black, L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes or YSL Faux Cils.

Treatments -Kate Somerville - Exfolikate
amygirl3540 11/30/2010 11:45:00 PM
Yes, this is an expensive product. It's $85 for a small tube. HOWEVER, this is a high-end product. I also think that in this instance, you get what you pay for. It's expensive and it's worth it. A high-end facial at a spa will run you between $75 - $150 on average (depending on the spa, area of the country, product-line, and experience of the esthetician). I have a Clarisonic Mia and love it, but I still felt like I needed some chemical exfoliation in conjunction with the physical exfoliation of the brush. It's almost winter, the heat is on, the wind is cold, my skin is starting to get dry...and that means I get flaky/dry patches of skin. You cannot simply moisturize over dry skin. You must exfoliate!!! I tried a sample of this (ask a SA at Sephora) and I was in heaven! This is an amazing exfoliant. One of the best I have ever used and I have paid for expensive facials and peels at day spas as well as dermatologists offices. It is easy to apply, you gently rub this on your wet face, then you let it sit for anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two, and then rinse. This also rinses VERY clean. This is not a scrub that you can't remove...I hate those! I am very impressed with this product. I recommend using it on the weekend or in the evening, because you can be pink or red for a while after. Now I just feel and look like I'm glowing. Healthy, fresh, smooth skin! It's awesome. My skin does not feel dry or raw. It did not sting. I have only great things to say about this and I don't even think it's fair to complain about the price. It's really that good.

Hair -Ojon - Tunu Elastik Flexible Finishing Spray
amygirl3540 11/29/2010 11:56:00 AM
This is a more expensive, high-end hairspray. I really like the smell. I can't think of what it smells like, but it's sort of natural, nutty, maybe reminscent of coconut? I like it. Anyway, this is a nice hairspray for my long hair. It holds, but you can still move and brush your hair. It is definitely flexible. It is not too stiff and it is NOT sticky, which is great. It gives my hair the movement/hold/texture that it needs. I usually straighten my hair by blowdrying and flat-ironing. I sprayed my hair after flat-ironing it and it just gave it a great finished look...it didn't weigh my hair down at all. I would purchase this again, even though it's pricey. UPDATE: 1/12 - Still loving this, but I'm out...and it looks like it has been discontinued. NOoooooooooooooo! :(

Scrubs -Mario Badescu - Kiwi Face Scrub
amygirl3540 11/28/2010 8:57:00 PM
I am not sure what this is supposed to do. It says that it's a kiwi scrub. Well, it does not smell like kiwi, but it is green. The seeds do very little in the way of exfoliating. I wondered if this was supposed to be some sort of a chemical exfoliant, but it really stinks and feels slimey. I'm glad I used a sample and did not purchase this! How disappointing.

Stick -Bobbi Brown - Foundation Stick
amygirl3540 11/9/2010 10:05:00 AM
I have this foundation stick and I really like it. I would say that this may not be the best foundation for oily skin. I tend to like this more in the winter/colder months. It has great coverage and blends well. Sometimes I just swipe it on my face and blend with my fingers or a sponge, sometimes I use a brush. I am very pleased with this and will probably repurchase. It's convenient and travels well. It also comes in pale enough colors for me, which is great.

Mascara -Too Faced - Lash Injection
amygirl3540 11/3/2010 10:02:00 PM
Ok. I have tried so many mascaras. I have tried Dior Show, Lancome, Clinique, Bare Escentuals, YSL Faux Cils, L'Oreal Voluminous, L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes, Trish McEvoy, Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier...and I could go on and on and on. This mascara is probably at the very bottom of my list. It did not give me volume or do anything I thought it would. I was not impressed with the original DiorShow, either, so I yes, I am very picky. If you want thick, voluminous lashes, you might as well pay the big bucks and get the YSL Faux Cils. That's my 2 cents. Sorry, this just didn't do it for me!

Fragrances -Origins - Ginger Essence
amygirl3540 10/25/2010 1:22:00 PM
I love the Ginger Essence fragrance. It is not too strong, it's not cloying on me. It's pretty natural. It's my go-to fragrance that I can where anytime. I usually wear the Ginger Essence™ Intensified Fragrance Rollerball, but I also like the lotions, body wash, and spray perfume. Great scent for me and my chemistry. I feel like it doesn't both others, either.

Treatments -Clinique - Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector
amygirl3540 10/13/2010 10:16:00 PM
This review is for the Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector. The Even Better Clinical is different than the original skin tone corrector...which is $10 cheaper and apparently going to be discontinued. I've been using this for a few days, so I haven't noticed any dramatic changes yet. However, I like this so far. The consistency is like a serum. It spreads easily and only 1 pump is needed for your entire face. My skin feels very smooth, soft, and bright. I have already been using the Even Better Correcting Moisturizer SPF 20 for a few months now and love that. Now I'm using both and whether or not I see any dramatic changes, my skin looks and feels very clean and bright. No irritation, no breakouts. I don't believe in a miracle in a bottle. This isn't a prescription, which I am ok with, since those can be very irritating. Anyway, I will update my review if anything changes, but so far so good!

Styling Products -Regis - Design Line Silk Drops Repair & Shine Serum
amygirl3540 10/1/2010 4:30:00 PM
I have caused a lot of damage to my hair with bleaching and color over the past few years. I have also used TONS of serums and treatments and styling products. I've used Aveda, Kerastase, Joico, Redken, Pureology, Matrix, etc. I tend to use these drops the most. I can use them on my hair when it's wet, dry before flat ironing, or after flat ironing. It's a thicker serum, but not sticky. It's not heavy or greasy. The Kerastase products are pretty intense, but could be too much for me at times (and they're pricey). I get more bang for my buck with the Regis Silk Drops and my hair feels and looks the best and I love the smell!

Moisturizers -Cerave - Facial Moisturizing Lotion - PM
amygirl3540 9/20/2010 9:11:00 AM
My dermatologist recommended this to me. I love it. It is my new HG night lotion. In the day I usually wear Clinique Even Better and I wash with Purpose Gentle Cleanser. I spot treat with tea tree oil. My skin has never looked better! Very gentle, not greasy. Great for my sensitive skin.

Fragrances -Trish McEvoy - Blackberry and Vanilla Musk #9 EDP
amygirl3540 9/20/2010 9:05:00 AM
I can't find a dupe to replace this. I love this scent, but it's expensive and the staying power is not good. It's not too sweet or cloying. It's the perfect scent and I love how it smells on me...I want to rate this a 5, but for how quickly I go through a bottle, how expensive it is, and the lack of staying power, I am giving it a 4.

Cleansers -Purpose - Gentle Cleansing Wash
amygirl3540 9/18/2010 6:37:00 PM
Ok, I think I have finally found my HG cleanser! After so many years of buying expensive, high-end, medi-spa or cosmetic counter brand cleansers, I think this is the best! I also really like Phytomers gel cleanser (it's blue). This, however, is first of all dirt cheap. I think this cost me less than $5 at Target. It's convenient and smells a little bit like J&J baby shampoo, which coincidentally enough, is the company that makes Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash! Huh, imagine that! Anyway, it is very gentle. I can use it all over my skin and even my eye area with no problems. It is not drying, but it does a good job of removing my makeup. I use this with my Clarisonic Mia. I like other cleansers on the market, but for the price and simplicity, it gets the job done. I am impressed!

Fragrances -Hanae Mori - Butterfly EDT
amygirl3540 9/18/2010 6:29:00 PM
I initially liked how this smelled on me. I don't think vanilla, but I think CREAMY. However, after it dries down, it ends up being a little too strong for me. It has great staying power and smells lovely on others. I wish I could rate it higher, but it ends up giving me a scent headache. From the Sephora website: Hanae Mori Butterfly Hanae Mori, the great lady of Japanese fashion and Parisian haute couture, introduced this fragrance in 1996 and the subtle composition of scents make it unlike any other. The fragrance is a rare blend of berries and flowers, with a distinctive tone of strawberries and almond, giving an impression of vanilla. Notes: Strawberries, Bilberries, Black Currant, Bulgarian Rose, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Sandalwood, Almond, Praline. Sephora also considers this a woody oriental scent.

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Mederma - Skin Care for Scars
amygirl3540 7/27/2010 10:20:00 AM
I had surgery and used this on my scars after and am very pleased with the results. I first let the wounds/stitches/incisions heal entirely. Once they were fully healed, I alternated between Mederma and Vitamin E. I would definitely repurchase if needed. Be patient...scars can take a long time to fade!
