Mascara -The Body Shop - Double Intensity Mascara
Wuzzo 11/5/2007 9:14:00 PM
This is a new product from The Body Shop. It's a two-step volumizing and lengthening mascara that claims to create dramatically thicker, longer lashes. One end contains a white coating designed to extend the lashes while the second end thickens the lashes. I'm pleased to say, it works, and it doesn't smudge at all. The not-too-big brush is especially nice for deep set eyes and has the spiral design that's supposed to fully coat the lashes on all "sides." Definitely one of the better mascaras for the middle-of-the-road price.

Cleansers -The Body Shop - Camomile Waterproof Eye Make-Up Remover
Wuzzo 11/5/2007 9:03:00 PM
I picked this up instead of the Gentle Camomile Eye Make-Up Remover. I don't use waterproof mascara but the product worked perfectly. Emollient and (I believe) perfume-free, it quickly swishes eye make-up away and doesn't leave a greasy deposit.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Antiquitease - Earthly Riches
Wuzzo 11/5/2007 8:57:00 PM
I bought Family Silver and Earthly Riches from the new Antiquitease collection. I've reviewed FS under "Mineralize, Family Silver" as this appears to be where eveyone else it rating it. ER is a gorgeous palette, well described by other reviewers. I have used it three mornings in a row, and come up with a different look every time. The purple shade is great wet for added impact and as a coordinating eyeliner. Unlike Family Silver, it didn't deposit sparkles all over my cheeks.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Mineralize Eyeshadow in Family Silver
Wuzzo 11/5/2007 8:53:00 PM
I bought Family Silver and Earthly Riches from the new Antiquitease collection. FS looked interesting in the display and I love grey shadows. I'm not particularly impressed with this shadow as, when applied dry, it is a basic grey, despite the pretty toning in the palette. Worse, the silver shed onto my cheeks within minutes of using it. This colour theme would be fine for evening, sparkly cheeks included, perhaps bumped up with a loose silver shadow.

Eyeliner -Merle Norman - Soft Touch Eye Pencil Royalty
Wuzzo 11/4/2007 10:49:00 PM
Wow! I bought this pencil in Galaxy - a soft silvery grey (not metallic). It is very soft but stays in place. Definitely one of the higher quality eye pencils and perfect for the smokey look. The reverse end of the pencil is a very soft smudger. I have consistently found MN products to be of very high quality. It's too bad that the brand suffers from such an old fashioned image as the colours and themes are contemporary.

Loose Powders -Fyrinnae - Fyrinnae Mineral Finish: Oil Control
Wuzzo 11/4/2007 3:10:00 PM
I went to the Fyrinnae site after seeing a rave review of this finishing powder. Mineral Finish comes in three varieties: Clear, Oil Control and Sun Kissed. I chose the oil control version (as well as some eye shadow testers and a blush that I'll review separately). I have to say that I'm really impressed with Alison Raffaele's finishing powder, but it's not "oil control" and my middle-aged (but still wrinkle and sag-free) skin gets oily about one hour after applying powders. After two hours, this very fine, lovely-to-use powder was showing just a little shine, but not the really oily shine that I usually get. After five hours, still no need for a major touch up. Am I impressed? You bet! All the products I bought (plus the free sample) are super quality and you get to choose between really glittery stuff and almost matte. The service was very fast to Canada, which was just as impressive! I also thought the web site was rather fun. I will definitely be buying the larger sizes of these products.

Sunscreen -La Roche Posay - Hydraphase UV SPF 30
Wuzzo 10/22/2007 7:41:00 PM
A very good quality sunscreen/moisturizer but nothing special. I couldn't find anything different/better than, say, Olay's version or Neutrogena's facial sunscreens. Plus, it contains parabens.

Eye Shadow -DuWop - Smoke - Plum Wine
Wuzzo 10/20/2007 9:12:00 PM
Please see my review for the Olive Branch Smoke duo as well. Fabulous quality product and blends extremely well. I used it with a pale taupe base by Balm, blending it upwards from the lid. It brought out the green in my eyes extremely well and was a lot of fun to apply.

Eye Shadow -DuWop - Olive Branch Smoke Eyes Palette
Wuzzo 10/20/2007 9:06:00 PM
Wow! I have never been able to achieve the smudgy-smokey eye look without overdoing it or underdoing it. This product has changed all that. I bought it with Plum Wine from Skinstore (great prices compared with the $40 that Moulé is asking for this product in Canada) and am extremely impressed. The quality is first class, the pigmentation/degree of mica inclusion spot on, and the colour, a lovely soft olive, is just beautiful with my green eyes. Kudos to Duwop for coming up with such a brilliant formulation.

Treatments (Eye) -Unlisted Brand - Relastin Eye Silk
Wuzzo 10/19/2007 7:38:00 PM
This product was given to me to test. A quick look at the ingredients and there is nothing in there that would "kick start" the production of elastin. There are a lot of slip agents, silicon, and mica. No Retin-A or peptides or any other ingredient remotely associated with the production of elastin or collagen. I used it to see what they hype was in terms of appeal and found it to be similar to silicon hair shine products. Don't waste your money. Buy something with active ingredients instead.

Lip Gloss -Sugar Cosmetics - Sugar Slicks Lip Gloss
Wuzzo 10/7/2007 6:40:00 PM
I have this product in Gleam, a soft coral pink. It tastes sweet (hope it's really sugar though and nothing artificial) and has a good, thick consistency. All in all, a rather average lip gloss that quickly wears off.

Lip Gloss -Rimmel - Underground Striped Gloss-Over Palette
Wuzzo 10/3/2007 1:10:00 PM
Cross Over is a series of palettes containing five different colour glosses that you run your finger over to obtain different hues and intensities. Not very hygienic but a lot of fun. I bought 700- Urban Queen, which is peachy in tone. Other colours are On the Edge (bold pinks and oranges); Make a Break (bright pinks); Hot to Trot (golden tones); Play it Loud (pinky plums) and Hippy Chick, which has pink, plums and oranges. The colors work well together and you can play around with looks in one sweep, which is rather cool. I don't know what the palette will look like after a lot of use, but it's cheap enough to replace.

Palettes -Too Faced - The Quickie Chronicles- Party Girl
Wuzzo 9/29/2007 1:32:00 PM
I wrote a long review on this product and it was lost in cyberspace. Grr! I bought this fabulous palette with The Fabulous Flirt (previously reviewed) and found it very similar in colour. The grey eyeshadow has been replaced by a warm plum and all the colours tend to be more heavily pigmented. Two words of "warning" if that's not too harsh a word to use for this amazing line of palettes. First, the plum is very heavily pigmented and a little goes a long way. So use a lighter touch. It's great for smudging under the lower lashes for the smokey look. Two, I am over 40 but prefer to wear younger makeup as I'm not yet showing signs of aging and find it more fun. The shadows in this palette have more mica in them that The Fabulous Flirt and this landed up on my cheeks during application. It's not obvious as the sparkles are very tiny but it might not be what you would want for a business meeting or other professional/workplace situation. The blush is heavily pigmented and a pure, clean pink so use this lightly too if you are a PPP or darker PPP like I am. The glosses are, as always, fabulous. The QCs are a big hit with the girls in our house!

Palettes -Too Faced - Quickie Chronicles - The Fabulous Flirt

I bought this palette and two others on eBay. I WANT THEM ALL! I love the design and the concept Now on to the inside! I'm slightly darker than a PPP but close and the pale colours suit me very well. They are all very layerable. The lip glosses are great over lipstick and the pale blush is perfect for daywear. I'd definitely buy this again and just bought one for my DD.

Mascara -Fusion Beauty - Lash Fusion
Wuzzo 9/26/2007 2:24:00 PM
Absolutely, hands-down, the WORST mascara I have EVER used. Here's why: 1. The brush is too large and it hits against the orbit of the eye making a mess to tidy up. 2. The mascara neither lengthens nor thickens, as it claims to do. 3. The worst transgression. My DH came in from work and said, "What's the matter with your eyes?" I looked in the mirror and I have never seen such smudging with ANY mascara I've bought. It was all over my upper orbit and under my eyes as well. Not just a little bit either. Note: The description on the website says it is smudgeproof. Fusion beauty makes a great lip product and I think this appalling mascara is riding on the coat-tails of that success. The product is expensive and an utter waste of money. Mine is already in the garbage.
