Conditioner -Aveda - Scalp Benefits conditioner
TheaRose 8/5/2006 1:12:00 AM
I have fine, dry hair and love this conditioner - it's soothing and moisturising without weighing down my hair or making it oily. I use it along with the Scalp Benefits shampoo.

Liquid -Laura Mercier - Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation
TheaRose 8/5/2006 1:07:00 AM
I wish I could give this foundation a '6'. I have one of the worst skin-types for foundation - dry but acne prone - and while I wouldn't call this moisturising, it doesn't dry out my skin and has never caused a breakout. Coverage is very buildable and when I apply it with a damp sponge I have no problems with streaking. I have fair skin with yellow undertones and use 'warm ivory'.

Lip Treatments -Blistex - Lip Conditioner SPF 20
TheaRose 8/5/2006 12:51:00 AM
I have lost count of the number of tubs of this I've gone through - it is the best balm ever for badly chapped lips. No matter how flaky and gross they are, if I apply this in a few seconds they will be back to normal - it moisturises quite deeply rather than just adding a protective coating to your lips. Like other Australians, the version of this that I use has no minty flavour or fragrance, just a slight bees-wax sort of smell.

Lotions/ Creams -Vaseline - Intensive Care Dry Skin Lotion
TheaRose 8/4/2006 9:47:00 PM
This is a nice, inexpensive lotion that absorbs quite quickly, but isn't moisturising enough for my dry skin. I have the fragranced version in the yellow bottle.

Moisturizers -Dove - Essential Nutrients - Night Cream

I have been using this cream for several months now, and will definitely repurchase - it makes my dry skin smooth, soft and doesn't break me out.

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme
TheaRose 8/4/2006 5:57:00 AM
Good value cream for dry skin with a mild inoffensive scent. I mostly use it as a hand cream. **Update: Have lowered my rating. While this absorbs quickly on my hands, everywhere else on my body it leaves a sticky film.

Gels/Soaps -L'Occitane - Verbena Shower Gel

I find this a bit drying, but it smells divine - just like crushed verbena leaves.

Gels/Soaps -L'Occitane - Honey Harvest with Royal Jelly and Propolis Foaming Jelly for Body and Hair
TheaRose 8/4/2006 5:08:00 AM
This is the most gentle, moisturising shower gel I have ever used, with a wonderful honey scent that lingers if you use it to wash your hair. While travelling, I have successfully used it as a shampoo (needs good water pressure to rinse properly) and to wash my face. Highly recommended for dry and/or sensitive skin.

Gels/Soaps -Aesop - Aesop Geranium Leaf Body Cleanser
TheaRose 8/4/2006 4:03:00 AM
Lightly foaming gel with a mild geranium fragrance that now (thankfully) comes in a large plastic pump bottle rather than glass. I used up the whole 500ml bottle, but am undecided about repurchasing...it's a good quality product that doesn't strip my skin and I like the scent, but I think for the winter I will replace with something more moisturising.

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Preference Shine Extending Hair Color
TheaRose 1/21/2006 11:51:00 PM
Maybe I got a bad box, but I'm really unimpressed with this hair colour. I used "dark brown" on previously dyed medium brown hair, and actually ended up with *lighter* hair than I started with. The colour was quite uneven with the 2-3 inches closest to my roots being noticably lighter than the ends, and my hair felt like straw for several weeks afterwards.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Ethos Whipped Body Creme
TheaRose 7/21/2005 2:12:00 AM
This is the most divine heavy-duty body cream I have ever used, and will repurchase forever. It's a thick, non-greasy yellow cream that smells like spiced lemon-butter and absorbs well (unlike *cough* L'Occitane *cough*) and keeps my extremely dry skin feeling like satin. In summer when my skin isn't quite so dry, it makes a great hand and cuticle cream. At AUS $45 for 200ml it's pretty expensive, but worth it. The Ethos brand is available at some Australian pharmacies and department stores and often has very generous gift with purchase deals. http://www.ethoshealth.info/

Polishes -Chanel - Triomphe
TheaRose 7/21/2005 1:51:00 AM
On me this is a sheer-ish white with subtle pink shimmer. While I can normally pull off both warm and cool colours, Triomphe looks a bit off against my yellow-toned skin. Longevity is ok but nothing special - several nails chipped by the third day but wearable for five.

Lotions/ Creams -Dove - Body Silk
TheaRose 7/21/2005 1:19:00 AM
This is an excellent, high-quality product - especially given the price. For my really dry skin in winter, it is not quite moisturising enough, but in summer it's perfect.

Lotions/ Creams -Dove - Replenishing Body Moisturiser - Normal Skin
TheaRose 7/21/2005 1:17:00 AM
This is a cheap, effective moisturiser for normal skin with a non-greasy consistency that absorbs quickly. The scent definitely needs some work though - it smells chemically and wierd although not strongly so.

Polishes -OPI - Tutti Frutti Tonga
TheaRose 7/19/2005 9:11:00 PM
This looked completely different on my nails than in the bottle - 99% frost, 1% peach - not very flattering against my warm skin tone. It also streaked really badly, which is not what I want from a nail polish this expensive. Someone very good at applying nail polish with the right skin tone could probably make it work though...
