Makeup Brushes -GOSH - Brush

I got the blush brush. This brush is good. Not great though. It really does apply blush rather decently and blends ok, and I often use it for contouring my cheekbones, too, as it is slightly domed so its sides are a bit cut. What I don't like about this brush is the way the hairs feel on my skin. They feel so harsh and unnatural. Still they say on the package that the hairs are all natural, but somehow I'm not quite believing that... Also, the hairs starting falling off a bit the moment I unwrapped it (I always handle it gentle, so that's not the problem). So overall, this is a pretty decent brush for applying blush and contouring your cheekbones, but the hairs don't feel so great and are falling off.

Blush -Maybelline - Dream Mousse Blush - All colors [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
TheCat7 5/27/2010 2:38:00 PM

This blush is ok. It is, as the name says, in a mousse-form, and it comes in a little glass-pot. I find it very difficult to adjust the right amount needed. I either get almost nothing or waaaayyy too much. I´ve tried applying it with my finger and with a brush (just kinda dabbed the brush very lightly in the mousse) and the finger is definetely better for this, a brush does not work (at least not for me). However, the colour I got is very beautiful, called Mauve and is number 04. It looks rather natural if you manage to get the right amount on your cheeks and is kinda shimmery, which is nice. It is also very easy to blend in, the mousse form is great. I don't like the scent in particular, but it is not strong and does not bother me. So overall, this is an ok blush, getting the amount you need (not too much, not too little) out of the jar is rather hard but once on your skin it is beautiful, natural and radiant and blends well.

Lip Gloss -Max Factor - Silk Gloss Sheer Frost

My long-time favorite lip gloss (along with the Dior ones ;)! I got this is in shade number 385, called Strawberry Frost, and what a color! So luxurious, a light wine colour with lots of shimmer, without being too glamorous. It feels like lip balm on your lips and the scent, don't get me started! So good! I can't even describe it, wow! I will be getting another one of those, no question about it. You should, too, before I buy them all!

Eye Shadow -H & M - Eyeshadow by HM
rated 5 of 5
TheCat7 5/27/2010 2:07:00 PM

WOW! What a great eye shadow for this great price! I got this in the color "Sweet Pea", which is a duo: a very very light green kinda highlighter, and a very pretty emerald-green colour. They are both a bit velvety, very smooth and nice. They work perfectly together and you could create a very nice smoky green look with them. I love the packaging, a small round "box", complete see-through. Simple but stylish and easy to handle. The shades are not too intensive but you can definetely build them a bit, of course especially the darker one. The staying power is ok, not bad but no great. Overall, a great eye shadow and not too expensive, very nice packaging, medium-plus staying-power.

Eye Shadow -The Body Shop - Eye Shimmer 04 - Copper
rated 4 of 5
TheCat7 5/27/2010 1:50:00 PM

This is a good eye shadow, actually. I especially love the "small" packaging, which is really not small at all, just smaller than those huge eye shadows you sometimes get, like for example from Make Up Store. One does not use that much eye shadow! So thumbs up about the size! The color is very nice, but in my opinion not anywhere near copper, which is the shade's name. It is a shimmery, pearly, pink-ish, light colour. It is not too intensive and works great as a highlighter, especially on warmer toned people. I particularly like it as a highlighter on my inner corners, it really makes me look more awake. The only downside is that I find the texture a bit off, it is too "hard", not soft enough, which means that building it as well as simply getting the product on your eye shadow brush can be a bit tough. I can live with that, though, and I find it best to just use my finger for it. Overall, a good eye shadow, not great, but definetely good, especially for highlighting. Use your finger as brushes do not go great with this rather "hard" product.

Lip Treatments -Yves Saint Laurent - Exfoliating lip balm
rated 5 of 5
TheCat7 5/27/2010 1:39:00 PM

This is basically a scrub for your lips, and wow! It is good! The product comes in a small tube and is very easy to handle. It is light pink, and has a taste of strawberries and peppermint (as well as a scent of those things). The actual scrubbing corns are sugar and strawberry seeds, which scrub your lips gentle as you rub it on, but without irritating the sensitive skin on the lips. After rubbing and leaving the product on for about five minutes, you simply rinse the scrub off with lukewawrm water. Your lips will feel super soft, moisturized and nourished, as well as a tiny bit pinker than before. I like applying a good lip balm afterwards. So overall, this is in my opinion the best lip scrub, your lips will be amazingly refreshed and soft after this treatment, try doing it once or twice a week!

Eye Shadow -Christian Dior - 5-Colour Eyeshadow - Night Butterfly 173 Fall 2009
rated 5 of 5
TheCat7 5/27/2010 7:26:00 AM

This is a great eye shadow palette! It comes in a compact with a good mirror and a velvet pouch, and two applicators, each with two applicator tips (so total of two wide, two narrow tips). You get five colors, grey, purple, lilac, wine and black. The black one has silvery sparkles in it which makes it look fantastic (I often use it as an eyeliner) but the other colors are velvety, smooth and glowy, but not pigmented, rather... satiny. Look very pretty. These colors stay put on your eyelid and you can build them from very light shades into very intensive ones. This is a very versatile palette, you can use it both on special occasions and every day. Overall, a great palette!

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Creamy Concealer "Ivory"
rated 3 of 5
TheCat7 5/27/2010 7:11:00 AM

This concealer is "ok". It is very creamy and that I like, and it does cover my dark circles a bit. Notice that I say "a bit", because it does not, by far it does not, cover them completely. This was extremely expensive considering the quality, but the packaging is actually pretty good. I got a kit, which is the concealer on top and then a yellow-ish powder on the bottom, for setting the concealer. The powder is also just "ok", and I really like my Dior Pressed Powder better for setting (see my review on it). But what really annoys me is the color of this. I had the lady at the Bobbi Brown booth assist me in picking the correct color, and this is far too yellow. I kinda look like a panda with yellow under-eye area! Ok, maybe not that bad, but still ;) Overall, I don't think I will buy this product again. However, I would very much like to try another color, because the consistency of this concealer is great, it's just the color that is a little "off".

Bronzers -Guerlain - Terracotta Light Sheer Bronzing Powder-Blondes 01
rated 4 of 5
TheCat7 5/26/2010 6:08:00 PM

This is actually a pretty good bronzer. I'm always on the lookout for a new bronzer, and this one fit my style. It comes in a compact with an ok mirror but I love how the powder is divided into a few "squares", so you get one "dark" brown, one lighter shade of brown, one pink shade and one gold shade, all in one! You can sweep your brush over all four colours, or you could focus more on some than others, which is great. All colours are very shimmery and pigmented, especially the golden one (which I sometimes use as an eyeshadow, looks great!) and because of this, I would not really use this powder for contouring. Also it just looks "ok" on your forehead (where bronzer is normally put to create shadows and dimension). However, this looks amazing on your cheeks, and because of the pink colour, you don't even need a blush to go with it! This has a slight perfume-y scent, but it is very subtle and does not bother me at all. So overall, I really like this product. You are kinda getting 3 in 1 - bronzer, eyeshadow and a blush!

Primer/ Corrector -Yves Saint Laurent - Touche Eclat (Radiant Touch)
rated 4 of 5
TheCat7 5/26/2010 5:47:00 PM

This cult product actually lives up the hype... mostly. I got it in shade number 2, which suits my fair complexion rather well. It is great for brightening up your under-eye area (note that I said "brightening", not "concealing"!), down your nose, on your chin and your cubid's bone. I sometimes even use it on my nosewings and on my cheeks, for quick well-countoured cheekbones. This product blends really well, but contrary to what many people think, then this is not a concealer. It rather just brightens. Therefore, this is really not good to hide pimples and breakouts. This is great for quick touch-ups during the day. The packaging is really good, basically a "pen" with a cap. On the end there is a button which one pushes (once or twice, depending on how much product you need) and then the product comes out of the brush applicator tip. Overall, this is a great product for brightening up darker areas and touching up, and comes in a really handy "pen".

Highlighters -The Body Shop - Radiant Highlighter
rated 3 of 5
TheCat7 5/26/2010 2:57:00 PM

I don't really like this product... I had my eyes on it for a while, but when I finally got it, I was kinda dissappointed. First of all, the tube looks good and the product looks good in it. But once you open it, you have to be so careful not to squeeze too hard, because the product really just flows out. Not nice. Once you're over that, the product does not, in my opinion have a beautiful "highlighting-effect" to it, rather than highlighting, it just makes me look shiny, not at all glowy. So no, I will not repurchase this, at least not this particular shade. I got it in number 01, so maybe I will try another shade... But overall, this is not a great highlighter, not for the "candle-light glow", but if you like "I just came from the gym without a shower-shiny", then this is your go-to thing.

Blush -The Body Shop - Cheek Colour - 04 Golden Pink
rated 5 of 5
TheCat7 5/26/2010 11:26:00 AM

First you should know that I don't have the powder version which is shown on the picture, I have the creme version, which comes in a tube. This is one of my favourite blushes, and believe me, I have quite a few! It is a gorgeous colour with a teeny tiny bit of shimmer. It really shows up beautifully on your skin to create a very natural looking colour. This is very close to the way one blushes naturally. You should be careful though, not to put too much on. Just a bit is more than enough, so this little tube (by the way, the packaging is really great, small and fits into any purse!) will last you super long. Overall, this is a great blush and very natural looking.

Eyeliner -The Body Shop - Eye Definer
rated 4 of 5
TheCat7 5/26/2010 11:11:00 AM

Before I start the actual review, you should know that I got mine in shade number 13, called Burnished Amber. This eyeliner is actually pretty good. It is super-creamy, which I love, and very easy to apply. I also love this colour, kinda like a bronzy, gold colour. However, I don't think this shows up on my eyes so much... I see it because I know it is there, but I'm not sure that people would actually notice it that much... But that is ok, because even though people maybe don't see it, then it does define your eye a bit, without people noticing, so your eye looks naturally more defined. This liner comes in a few different shades, including black and white, but the white one is really not creamy at all, which I don't think is good, because I like creamy liners... But overall, this is a pretty good eyeliner. Very creamy, easy to apply, smudge and get off. I will repurchase this.

Pressed Powders -Christian Dior - Diorskin Pressed Powder
rated 5 of 5
TheCat7 5/26/2010 10:55:00 AM

Dior Poudre Compacte, or Pressed Powder, is absolutely amazing! This is by far the best pressed powder I have found on the market. First I should state, though, that this is not for concealing anything. I got it in colour number 001, called Transparent Light, and that is exactly what it is, transparent. So it is not for concealing, but for mattifying your skin, and this powder does the job beautifully. The skin stays matte all day long, and you don't have to reapply the powder very often, maybe just one quick touch-up in the afternoon, and you're good to go! The powder feels great on your skin and to the touch your skin is velvety and smooth. I really like, especially in summer, or just on those good-skin-days, to just apply moisturizer, a teeny tiny bit of concealer, and then this powder. Amazing! The only downside is that this powder only comes in three colours, so you have very dark skin, you might have a problem finding this powder in the correct shade... But overall, this powder is great, creates a beautiful matte look, does not need a lot of reapplying and feels great on the skin.
