I love semi-matte foundation and this one is almost as good as my Chanel Prolumiere which is double the price. A little goes a long ways for semi-matte foundation. It is light-weight and feels like it just spreads through-out my face when I just use a dime-size. I stays on very well and doesn't come on especially when you use Smashbox photo primer. Both together gives you a smooooooooth, I means smooth appearance for your face. It's a pretty good foundation for only being $20.50. Eh, packaging, I hate the packaging because it is a tube and I wish it was a pump just because pumps are just a lot better in my opinion. But other than that, it does it's job by giving moderate to full coverage.
Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Blackest Black Mascara
SwtxSeri 3/18/2009 9:11:00 PM
I actually do like this mascara. The trick in using this mascara is that since it is wet you can keep on building onto the lashes to give that intense dramatic look. To keep my curls in, I use the arch part of the mascara and hold it at my arch for 5-6 seconds and voila' it keeps my curls in. The color blackest black really does give me an intense almost rocker sheik look. It isn't pricey and that is something that is great about it. Yes, many people don't like to keep reapplying more coats but this mascara really is a good one, its all about applying it. I apply the mascara by coating from underneath the lashes and over the top as well and then underneath once again. Also, keeping a light hand and quickly coating the lashes will give you the look you desire. Just don't wait between coats for it to dry then to reapply, then it will clump and be flaky.
I think this facial soap really is a waste. I just think that Clinique puts too many darn steps into treating the face. I mean using this facial soap along with another makeup cleanser for the face? This facial soap really doesn't do much for my face. I feel like I'm just using regular soap on my face. Clinique has too many steps for their treatment. I just wish they would just make a cleanser that cleanses dead skin cells, removes makeup, and hydrates/balances the skin.
Toners -Chanel - Precision Soothing Toner [DISCONTINUED]
SwtxSeri 3/18/2009 9:01:00 PM
I love the fact this this Clarifying Lotion does not have Alcohol in it because alcohol drys out the skin which I don't need because I'm already dry enough. I also use the Mousse Douceur that goes along with this toner and I just love the regimen. This clarifying lotion really does the work of balancing my skin oils and water and not only that but, it helps exfoliate my dead skin cells and remove some of the left over makeup from after cleansing. It doesn't sting which is a great must with toners. I've had it for 4 months and it has lasted a long time. I haven't replaced it yet but probably will do so within the next 3-4 months.
Because it is a concentrated (serum) form of the Hydramax treatment, it works more proficiently than the hydramax creme because it is more potent and concentrated. I have dry skin in the winter and this serum really hydrates my skin. I wear this serum underneath my Chanel Beaute Initiale creme which is an preventive aging creme. It has a subtle, clean, refreshing scent to it but it is just very faint. Make sure when applying it on, you immediately put on your mositurizer, don't let it dry in between or gets flaky. I really do like the Hydramax creme that is from the line but it doesn't have SPF and that is something I really prefer in my daily regimen. I do pair it up with the Hydramax creme on days that I don't go out into the sun and am just staying at home. Great buy!
I am actually on the Chanel treatment line for Normal skin in need for balancing. The mallow and tulip extracts help redefine the skin by balancing the oils and water in the skin to hydrate in areas that you need it and to control the oils where needed. This cleanser is wonderful due to the fact that not only does it cleanse my face of dead skin cells but it also is a makeup remover and a moisturizing cleanser all in one. It is great. I love the mild scent that comes with it. To those that have sensitive noses, just be aware that it does have a little scent. It is a great cleanser and is worth the $45.
Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
SwtxSeri 3/18/2009 8:43:00 PM
I really have mixed reviews about this lotion. I know that this is part of Clinique's 3-step , but I really don't think that this moisturizer helps at all. I really don't understand the point of using this moisturizing (which doesn't have SPF by the way) and then layering another moisturizer that has SPF on top of it. I mean, it just really defeats the purpose of having a moisturizer because in this day in age most women think that all moisturizers have spf to protect you from UV rays that age your skin. It is a bit greasy and it does absorb well into the skin if you exfoliate often but if you don't the lotion/ gel (for oily skin) won't absorb well into the skin. Other than that, I give it a mediocre rating. I will not buy again, it is just too darn greasy. But at least it doesn't have a scent to it. I give it a thumbs up for that reason only.
Blush -Shiseido - The Makeup Accentuating Powder Blush -Single
SwtxSeri 3/18/2009 8:37:00 PM
Aye, this blush is great and I'm just about out! I have Deepest Rose B5, and because I have fair skin it's hard to find a blush that actually turns pink and not red on my skin tone. This blush gives a beautiful deep pink accentuation to the apples of my cheeks. It is great because it is also buildable. So, if you want a more intense look for night, just apply a little bit more and put on some intense lipstick/gloss and you are definately good to go.
Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Erase Paste in Fair
SwtxSeri 3/18/2009 8:31:00 PM
Yes, this is a GREAT, I mean Super Great eye concealer. It brightens up the eye area underneath on on lids and it is amazing. The boi-ing is great as well, but when I used this concealer for my under eye circles after those long night study sessions, it really does disguise the darkness. It is amazing. Always, a little goes a long ways and I just love the fact that BeneFit is all about being eccentric and retro. I love the 20s-30s vibe.
I have Boi-ing in shade 2 and it is a great concealer that helps conceal my under-eye and blemishes very well. A little goes a long ways and by applying the concealer after my foundation I am able to blend it easier with the foundation to make it look more cohesive with my whole face instead of patches everywhere.
I love Chanel makeup and this is one of the must haves of eyeliners. I had the Black Shimmer but wanted a darker more intense black rather than a charcoal color and Ebene was it! It's staying power is amazing plus you can smudge it before it sets and it gives you a smokey eyeliner look. Beautiful. If the Chanel consultant doesn't tell you, all of the WP eyeliners come with a built-in sharper which is at the tip-top of the pencil. All you have to do is pull or twist it off and gradually sharpen the tip of the pencil for a more precise tip. Must have for a great waterproof eyeliner.
I know not many people like this mascara, but I actually do like this mascara. I actually prefer the Great Lash with the Curling wand. This mascara is great due to the fact that since it is a little more wet than most mascaras, you can actually keep on building onto the lashes. But remember, you have to keep on coating and not letting it dry between coats or else you won't acheive the full lustrous look that the Maybelline says. The only con I have about this mascara is that though it is wet, sometimes it tends to flake off. Other than that, I do like this mascara.
Eye Shadow -Chanel - Ombre Essentielle - Soft Touch Eyeshadow- Amethyst
SwtxSeri 3/18/2009 8:07:00 PM
Beautiful deep purple color which has a clean sexy sheen when put on with just one sweep over lids for daytime look. For a night time look, just wet the brush and apply the shadow and BAM, its an intense sultry purple! Amethyst also looks beautiful with Lavande, which I think is a limited edition color. =( But beautiful.
I'm a mascara junkie and I really haven't experimented much with the drugstore mascaras, but I really do like this mascara. It comes in a cute purple metallic tube along with a weird wand, but the wand is designed that way for a reason. For my eyes, the wand seems a little long, but in actuality, the bristles coated each and every one of my lashes from root to tip. I was experimenting with this mascara and I actually did coats from underneath of my lashes and over the top of the lashes from root to tip as well and this combed out all the clumps and really defined my lashes. I love this mascara.
Eye Primer -Chanel - Eye Shadow Base (Base Ombre a Paupieres)
SwtxSeri 3/18/2009 3:22:00 PM
Oh my goodness, this was the worst primer I have ever purchased. I purchased the eyeshadow primer in "Mint" and even though it has a nice brush on applicator, it is drying out the product. It doesn't glide on well at all. Do not buy! You are way better off with UDPP or Too Faced Shadow Insurance (in love with this one now).
