Lotions/ Creams -Palmers - Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil
rated 4 of 5

I'm surprised there aren't more reviews on this! The first time I used this, I was blown away. Usually a user of only moisturiser, this oil left my skin feeling like silk and very supple. There are a few tricks to it: 1.) Make sure the bottle lid is as tight as possible. This stops the product from leaking, alternatively put it in a spray bottle. 2.) Use it while the skin is still wet, at the end of the shower step away from the stream of water and use this liberally. It means you use less product because the water helps it disperse over your body, and also it locks the moisture into your skin better and absorbs more thoroughly. 3.) Do NOT leave the cap open! If you do and water gets in, it creates this odd cloudy mess at the bottom of the bottle and smells odd. 4.) Avoid using it on dry skin as it doesn't sink in properly and stays greasy. I use this religiously after every shower and always get compliments on my skin. I also use a non-scented moisturiser after just to make myself even softer. I love the cocoa butter body lotion, but honestly this oil works a lot better. Cons: The strong smell, sometimes I wish was unscented so i could wear perfume without it being disturbed! Also, the packaging. Overall fantastic, lasts a long time and works beautifully. I will use this as long as they make it! Highly recommended (:

Styling Products -TRESemme - Instant Heat Tamer Spray
rated 5 of 5
Spider90 5/31/2011 2:22:00 AM

At first I was skeptical. VERY skeptical, because I only used it on my natural hair that was already in great condition. After a week of use I have seen improvement - especially on my hair extensions! It does indeed add smoothness and shine, has a wonderful 'clean' scent, protects my hair well. Overall when I use this I notice my hair looks, flows, smells and FEELS better. As I said, was very unimpressed the first few times of use but now that I have used it on my extensions I was blown away. Fantastic product! PS: The spray bottle is very good quality, the flow of the product is controlled and easy to apply and get every strand. Thumbs up ladies!

Scrubs -LUSH - Buffy the Backside Slayer
rated 4 of 5
Spider90 5/23/2011 7:49:00 AM

Bought this today on a whim. To me, it doesn't exactly smell like shea butter, cocoa butter OR almonds, it smells more 'herbal' and grassy more than anything. Very faint and slightly sweet. I found the exfoliating beads to be a tad harsh, but then again it really depends on your skin type. If you have more sensitive skin like me, there's a trick to using this: 1.) Make sure you are damp/wet and warm, step away from the shower! 2.) Very softly glide this across a small amount of your skin (dry bits, if any)to get it melting. 3.) Melt it in your hands, enough to exfoliate the body 4.) Put the Slayer someplace dry, and exfoliate the product in your hands onto your skin focusing on dry/rough areas. Doing it this way ensures you can control the harshness of the scrub, which can be a little too scratchy straight from the bar (also conserves product!) After I rinsed it off, dabbed dry I actually moisturised (well it's winter here and I like feeling soft :D!).. My skin feels amazing at the moment, it's usually very soft but it has this extra sheen and warmth to it. I can see this product not lasting too long, I have a small dent in it and i'm a very tiny girl! However, price isn't an issue when you find something that works wonders. Thumbs up!

Liquid -Bourjois - Healthy Mix Foundation ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Spider90 4/22/2011 10:24:00 PM

I was disheartened by my latest MAC foundation purchase. The lightest shade turned me orange. I was in my local beauty store, skulking around the lipsticks until I walked past the Bourjois stand - I bought Healthy Mix (shade #51 Vanille Clair) for 50% off on a whim. Fast forward to the next day, I put this stuff on, and hated it. It made me so very shiny and didn't stay more than 3 or 4 hours. Little did I know it was actually the bio-oil underneath not being very happy with it! . When i dug it back out a month or so later (having run out of my current foundation), the Australian weather was much cooler. I applied this and gave it a light dusting of MAC skinfinish and am pleased to say this foundation matches my skin EXACTLY. The skinfinish kept it in place the whole day, and the best part about it was that the make-up was SEAMLESS. And when I say that, I mean it has a perfect satin finish. It looks 100% natural and doesn't settle, or look like you are wearing make-up at all. It's quite pricey for a drugstore brand (around $32 AUD I believe) but considering I only ever used the high-end foudnations this is great for me. Didn't break me out, made my skin look fresh and glowing and stayed on with the skinfinish. . I'd reccomend this to all of you who have in general clear skin, the finish is somewhat light-medium and does cover redness and tiny imperfections like very faint acne scarring and slight redness around the nose, but you will need a concealer for the more prominant things. I personally do not use concealer, and it gives a less 'made up' look but still naturally flawless. Highly reccomend and I will definitely repurchase!

Crème -MAC - Mineralize Foundation
rated 5 of 5
Spider90 2/7/2011 4:41:00 AM

I went into MAC to get a new lipstick. While I was there, I asked the MUA to reccomend me some foundation. I was at the point on giving up on MAC's range to be honest - I wanted beautiful yet natural coverage, good staying power and a colour to match my skin. I don't think I'm asking too much, right? My skin is 100% clear mostly, with a few very faded scars on my cheeks. I've had a love/hate battle with the studio fix fluid (it turns orange on my PALE PALE face; NW15), the powder is great but tends to dry my skin out, the studio sculpt much the same and any of the others didnt give me a nice 'finish'. She reccomended me this - applied it with a stippling brush and it looked beautiful. Cue the next day at work - blistering Australian heat (air con was not working in my store, apparently) and the foundation did not hold up on my face unfortunately, and felt greasy almost. I left it alone for a few days, favouring my Bourjois healthy mix until I was running late and the Mineralize compact was the easiest to get at. Let me mention because it is going into Autumn/Winter, the weather has cooled down this week - and at work, my skin GLOWED. In the cooler weather it feels moisturizing, looks dewey and completely natural. It stayed on all day (which is rare for me), covered flaws by itself, did not settle or cake into any unsightly spots and most important matched my pale skin without turning an odd colour. Oh - and my boyfriend; who never comments on my make-up by the way; told me my skin looked really beautiful. Let's just say I put it on at 10.30 am and it looks virtually the same and its nearly 9 at night. Unheard of for me! Maybe not for summer, but for a good part of the year this will be my go-to foundation. Definitely reccomended for those in a cooler climate! I'm in love!

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Allure Admirable 42
rated 5 of 5
Spider90 1/7/2011 10:51:00 AM

Not much I can say that everyone else hasn't. This was my first chanel lipstick, it lasts me forever, has a beautiful natural yet surreal look to it. Great for when I'm at work - it makes me look put together, fresh and slightly glamorous. I've found that I can get some beautiful colours by wearing this over some lightly applied lip stains I have. Not sure if this is actually limited edition - I bought this a long time ago, and today when I went to get a new lipstick it was still there. Nonetheless, beautiful classy shade designed by someone who knows their colours well.

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Allure- Imagination
rated 5 of 5
Spider90 1/7/2011 10:33:00 AM

I have been looking for a more natural lipstick to wear when I decide I want to liquid line my eyes, or do a smoky eye. Usually I use Admirable, but I've always foujnd to get the PERFECT shade I would have to add a dab of pink stain on top of it to get the colour I really want. Today, I stumbled upon this colour whilst still looking for the perfect pink to put on my medium pigmented lips. It has a gorgeous sheen to it due to the gold shimmer in the lipstick (unseen to the naked eye), and looks fantastic on (for reference, I'm NW15 with black hair and similar coloured eyes). Being only 20 I don't usually spend lots of money on lipstick, but I will definitely continue to purchase this shade as it's a wonderful flattering corally pink on me and after the search I have gone through, I've finally found one I'm happy with. Plus... the packaging makes it really easy for me to apply it quickly without my boyfriend worrying I've died in the bathroom.

Skincare - Body -Bio Oil - All Products
rated 3 of 5
Spider90 9/22/2010 9:00:00 PM

Recently, I had a very bad breakout (which i NEVER get) due to a break on the pill, and the BP I have been using has left ym face dry, flaky and red. I have tried a few drops of Jojoba oil in my Olay, but have found that I am mildly allergic to it. I decided to re-try bio-oil; and so applied it in the circle motions rubbing it in at night. I woke up to find most of my redness had dissapeared, and a much more even skintone. I had also woken to found a few of the pimples that were almost fully dried out were back with a vengeance. I really wish this had worked on my face, and I might still use it on my eye/upper cheek/jawline area where i never break out, and to spot treat a few acne scars. Overall, this is a decent product. If you find your skin doesn't break out easily (assuming you are wanting to use this on the face), I would definitely reccomend giving it a try. I paid $12.99 AUS for this and for something that goes a decent way on your face I believe it was worth a shot. For your body, I suggest something like Palmer's Cocoa Oil as it's about the same price for a large bottle and does more or less the same thing. I would probably not reccomend this, or repurchase.

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
rated 4 of 5
Spider90 9/16/2010 10:49:00 AM

A warm, golden pink. On my skin (NW15) I have to be VERY careful to apply with a light hand! one dab with my brush is enough for both cheeks, the pigmentation is fantastic as always with NARS products. As for the gold shimmer, I find it gives a highlighted glow to my cheeks. I cannot for the life of my visibly SEE any chunks of glitter. The colour gives me an extremely natural flush, the kind you'd get from doing something naughty ;o As far as the shimmer goes, I find since my skin is so light it goes fairly unnoticed. The darker skin you have, the more noticeable it should be as the shimmer is light therefore shows up more easily. I guess this is why some people don't like it. PRO: - Long lasting, but I find blush never fades on me -Beautiful & natural flushed colour -Subtle shimmer adds very flattering highlights -Extremely pigmented -Product lasts a VERY long time, even with everyday wear (when used w/ a light hand) -Cute packaging CONS: - Packaging gets dirty, quick - Very easy to overdo -Pricey, although lasts for a long time Although flattering, I find using anything but a 'natural' amount of Orgasm can risk the clown look, on me at least. It's a very nice natural colour I can use from day to night, but to be perfectly honest I think I could find something a bit more 'WOW' out there for nights out - but I would 100% repurchase this for as long as I can for everyday wear. Congratulation NARS on a great blush!

Lipstick -MAC - Of Royalty
rated 4 of 5
Spider90 9/16/2010 10:32:00 AM

Hmm, I was expecting this to be a bit less opaque by what the sales rep told me. When I put it on, I thought it's way too pink for me. I agree it's pretty close to the 'Gaga' shade which i tried as well, as a few others have mentionned. It's a pastel pink, and i find it neither cool nor warm. I'm NW15 and I find it a bit too light for my complexion, which is the lightest there is - but when i dab the TINIEST bit of a hot pink lipstick i own over it, it makes it that tiny bit darker and makes a world of difference. Overall, the lipstick has great staying power and looks very pretty on its own (just not really my style). If you are looking for that 'Barbie' look, go for this shade and you won't be dissapointed. I probably wouldn't repurchase this shade - but I would go back and ask for one of the same tone, just a few shades darker.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Dr Lewinns Revitanail
rated 4 of 5
Spider90 6/25/2010 1:01:00 PM

Well, this is def a great product. It makes my nails grow long, strong and fast! I have never second doubted it, and if every product lived up to it's name like this did, we would all be in beauty heaven. The reason I took one lippy off was the use of Formaldehyde - yes, the same stuff in embalming fluids - so I try to limit my usage. After wearing fake nails for a while, i put two coats on as per the instructions and it's already worked and given my nails a beautiful glossy 'polished' look. I would def buy again, but in the 'sensitive' version as it doesn't contain the Formaldehyde.

Lips -Stila - Rasberry Crush Lip & Cheek Stain
rated 5 of 5
Spider90 6/14/2010 12:03:00 PM

How has no one reviewed this?? I went to a store and was mulling over the Stila range, when the shop assistant came over. I generally use stains with a lipgloss/treatment over it, because it gives me a longer lasting and more natual look. Anyways, having black hair, NW15 skin and dark eyes calls for either statement lips or eyes. I bought the Stila stain in Rasberry Crush, which was by far my favourite! It comes in a pen-style applicator which works very well, although clicking the base to get the product out can get messy if your not patient enough. The colour is a vivid pearlescent magenta type colour and looks absolutely fantastic. Totally buildable - if you are light handed, it will give you slightly berry stained lips. Two coats and your lips scream. I'm in love, and although the price is VERY steep I will continue to repurchase because this can easily last me around 8 hours whilst eating and drinking... where all my others have only lasted about 2!

Cleansers -Dermalogica - Anti-Bac Medicated Cleanser
rated 2 of 5
Spider90 6/14/2010 11:55:00 AM

Meh. Got a facial, they reccomended this to me, almost $100 AUD later i got the pump thing for this. Got home, been using it religiously for a month and can't see a difference. I love how I can use a tiny bit and it lathers up really nicely, leaves my skin slightly moisturized, feels fresh, but other than that there are no real VISIBLE differences. If you use this, i suggest using it with the rest of the medi-bac range. I have very few spots, and this did not control oil. Can't see any results, but I can feel the superior quality (and I love the size of the bottle, i never run out!) so it's probably a re-purchase for me.

Cleansers -Clearasil - Clearasil Ultra Deep Pore Cleansing Pads
rated 5 of 5
Spider90 12/22/2009 5:31:00 AM

I guess i am wierd with these. I have had a problem with acne, the very occasional flare ups that make you feel self concious since i was about 16. It was more the red marks they leave behind that has caused me to wear heavier foundations such as MAC's studio fix powder, and re-apply halfway through the day. I used to steal these off my boyfriend, but bought some of my own and it really, truly helps my skin. I actually exfoliate my face (very gently) morning and night, but AFTER i have washed my face i wipe a pad over my face (sort of like a toner), let it dry then use a rich oil free mosturizer at night and a lighter spf one at day. My skin is glowing, as it should at 19. My acne was never severe, but this has helped clear my pores. I actually believe that this, combined with the drying alcohol has helped heal my VERY oily face therefore reducing breakouts. Today i have noticed my chin was sort of flaky but nothing another light exfoliation can't fix. These tend to leave my feeling dry and tight, but after moisturization my face feels great. If my skin flakes excessively i lessen my use. Now, i harly EVER use my studio fix and am using a very sheer liquid foundation and not touching it up during the day. A very effective, cheap and reliable product that has helped my skin and confidance greatly and i will continue to use these :)

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Fantasy Britney spears
rated 4 of 5
Spider90 12/22/2009 5:09:00 AM

Smells like a 14 year old girl. If you are over 16, you should be really looking to upgrade your perfume to something more grown up and sexy, but i admit i do like the sweetness of it. My boyfriends young sister likes it, but for me (19 year old) i find this to be too teeny bopper. But overall great gift idea and it does smell quite nice.
