Styling Products -Kerastase - Vernis Nutri Sculpt
Scarlett 9/11/2006 1:12:00 PM
This really does nothing for me. I don't feel like it protects my hair from heat; it certainly doesn't make it shiny; and it smells awful. I expect a lot from Kerastase and unfortunately this product was a loser for me.

Styling Products -Phyto - Phytovolume Actif Volumizing Spray

All I can smell when I first sprayed this is alcohol which would explain why after 2 usages my hair is extremely dry. It also dried out my scalp. I prefer Kerastase.

Styling Products -Redken - Straight
Scarlett 9/11/2006 1:06:00 PM
Unfortunately, this product does not work for my hair type. I have curly hair/medium thickness. It is "poofy" and therefore prone to frizz. This made my hair limp and didn't do much for the frizz. I prefer B&B Straight.

Shampoo -Pureology - Nanoworks Shampoo
Scarlett 9/8/2006 6:04:00 PM
Wow! I am amazed at the results I get from this shampoo! My hair is shiny, tangle free and looks very healthy. I love the scent of it as well. While it is a lot more expensive than any other shampoo I've ever bought, it is worth every penny! As other reviewers mentioned, a little goes a long way so the bottle should last a while.

Fragrances -Annick Goutal - Songes
Scarlett 6/24/2006 12:30:00 PM
Wow! I am in love with this fragrance like no other. At first whiff, my husband fell in love with this fragrance. It is very feminine and sensual! As a fragrance fanatic, I have several bottles of perfume and haven't even wanted to touch any of my other fragrances since I purchased Songes. I have had the opportunity to try both the EDT and EDP. They are both very beautiful in their own rights. The EDT has more of a Jasmine and Frangipane scent whereas the EDP is "heavier" in the vanilla catagory. I can't really detect the vanilla too much in the EDT.

Mascara -Fresh - Supernova
Scarlett 6/9/2006 6:03:00 PM
I really wanted to love this mascara. The packaging is adorable. I really like the application; you can either go for a natural look or build up for more volume. It doesn't clump, which is nice, and the color is a rich black. BUT, it smudges. For $25, I expected a much better formula than this. YSL Faux Cils is still the best in my book!

Highlighters -Bobbi Brown - Brownie Shimmerbrick Shimmer Brick Compact
Scarlett 4/27/2006 12:10:00 PM
Brownie shimmerbrick could be described as a plummy brown. It is a quite a bit darker than any of the other shimmerbricks, which means that if you are fair complected you should apply with a light hand. I used my BB face blender brush to apply and whoa! it was way too dark. I had to wipe most of it off. On the BB website it says it creates a medium sun-kissed glow. I would have to disagree because it is quite dark! The original bronze shimmerbrick (which they say creates a deep bronzy glow) looks much lighter on my fair skin than Brownie. It's very pretty but I'll have to practice applying it so that I don't look like I have dirty cheeks! I think this shimmerbrick would be better suited for medium and darker complected ladies. I probably would not have bought this had I tried it at the store, but I was with my boss and I didn't want to play around with make-up while he was there! Lesson learned. Edited: 5/11/06 -- edited to give 4 lipsticks. I have learned to apply this with a light hand in order for it to suit my fair skin. It looks lovely if applied correctly.

Hair Styling Tools -Farouk CHI - Ultra Chi by Farouk
Scarlett 3/5/2006 9:52:00 PM
This review is for the Ultra Chi by Farouk. I believe it is an Ulta exclusive. I did not like this flat iron at all. Let me start by saying I have long, curly med-thick hair that I keep straight 95% of the time. First of all this iron was not powerful enough to straighten my hair in one pass. It took two passes of the iron to get the desired effect. Once it was straight, it wasn't as shiny or smooth as my Unil got my hair. I think what made this iron the worst was that it snagged and pulled out my hair. My hair got stuck between the plates of the iron. At first I thought I had a defective iron so I took that one back and exchanged it for another. Then, the new one did the same thing. Back it went! I also did not like that it did not have an adjustable heat setting. It was either on or off. The only pro I can think of is that it heated up quickly, but that is definitely not on the top of my list of priorities when searching for a good flat iron. For $140, I expect much more out of a product than this. I have a T3 on the way that I won on eBay for $76 (retail is $160). I am hoping that one will perform better than the Ultra Chi.

Styling Products -Aquage - Beyond Shine
Scarlett 2/10/2006 4:08:00 PM
This product would probably be alright if not for the awful scent. It smells too much like cleaning chemicals for my liking. If they decide to re-formulate the product to change the scent, I may try it again.

Treatments (Eye) -Rodan and Fields - Multi-Peptide Treatment--Eye Cream with Anti-Oxidants
Scarlett 2/8/2006 2:52:00 PM
I am very impressed with this eye cream and that takes a lot for me to say! I have been buying and using eye creams since I was 15 years old and have tried just about every one on the market. I have to say that this one ranks at the top! It is moisterizing, reduces puffiness, helps alleviate dark circles, works as a great primer for my concealer, is great for daytime and nighttime use and most importantly does not irritate my extremely sensitive eye area (which is a problem I've had with most eye creams I've tried). I'm very happy with this eye cream and definitely have plans of repurchasing once I finish this container. My only one gripe is that I wish it came in a tube just for hygiene purposes. I will still continue to keep an eye gel on hand for those really puffy days, but overall this eye cream does more for me than any other eye cream has been able to do!

Mascara -Rimmel - Volume Flash
Scarlett 1/30/2006 12:50:00 PM
As far as drugstore mascaras go, this one is pretty good. I am still on a quest to find a cheaper alternative to my beloved YSL Faux Cils, though. Volume Flash doesn't quite give the "lush" look that I love in a mascara, but I haven't found anything better for the price. It does tend to clump a bit on my bottom lashes.

Treatments (Eye) -Prescriptives - Super Line Preventor Plus Eye
Scarlett 1/20/2006 4:07:00 PM
I haven't had too much success finding a suitable eye cream and this one was no exception. When I used it the first couple of days, I thought "wow" this stuff is great. I could feel it immediately tighten my undereye area. However, after about 1 week my eye area became extremely dry and swollen. Nice, huh? It took a few days of extra moisterizing eye balm (I used Kiehl's) to get rid of the dryness and swelling. My eye area is very sensitive due to various allergies. Others that don't have this problem may have better luck.

Self Tanners -Lancome - Airbrush Tan
Scarlett 5/16/2005 2:37:00 PM
Unfortunately, after dropping $28 on this I am dissapointed. Here are my thoughts: fast application, but it takes FOREVER to dry (at least an hour); spray nozzle was difficult to spray; dries streaky, but natural looking color (where it isn't streaky). It might work okay if you actually had somebody help you to apply it, but I had difficulty attempting it alone. Perhaps it just takes practice? Overall, I much prefer Lancome's mousse or gel formulations. They dry much quicker and don't streak as easily as long as you make sure to exfoliate, moisterize and rub in well.

Mascara -Rimmel - Volum' Eyes
Scarlett 3/28/2005 5:11:00 PM
In order to apply this mascara correctly, you need to have a steady hand and a bit of patience. I have a steady hand, but must admit ... not much patience for this applicator! I'm always in a rush in the mornings and don't particularly care for the comb that is the applicator of this mascara. With the comb applicator, you really have to make sure to wipe off the excess product otherwise you may end up with a huge mess. Even that being said, it does have a tendency to clump. This mascara is so-so. It did not give me the "lush" lashes that I was looking for, but it did outperform other so called volumizing mascaras. I found I liked this mascara the best when applied over Lancome Definicils or another "defining" type mascara.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express Turbo Boost Waterproof
Scarlett 3/23/2005 6:33:00 PM
Ugh! With a name like Volum Express Turbo I would have expected a mascara that gave me a false eyelash efffect. This did no such thing. I already have semi-long lashes but need love the super lush look. Not only did this mascara fail to deliver in the thickening department but it flaked and smeared, too. Not work the $3.89 I spent on it...it is going in the garbage!
