Styling Products -Pureology - Texture Twist
Sassyrred 11/1/2007 11:46:00 AM
I bought this product after reading great reviews here. I Love this stuff! I have alot of texture/spray wax products in my drawer anymore and this by far is my fave. The only bummer is the price but it works great! I have Pantene texture hairspray, mousse wax and texture wax and I have Enjoy texturizer and none of them work as well. They are all wetter/sprays. Pureology is a thick white paste but workable. I put a quarter size amount in my hand and rub together and lighter work thru the top of my hair then the bottom, then kind of all over, in kind of a grabbing manner. It is not as stiff as the products above and surprising even though it is heavier in texture it doesn't weigh my hair down. It is more workable then the others I have tried since my hair doesn't feel *crunchy* and I can poof up my hair during the day and have it stay shapely all day. I can even run my fingers thru it without getting *stuck*. I don't notice any fragrance like the others which can have a sweet smell. I am considering trashing ALL my other texturizers, even though I hate to throw money away. This is most definitely a re-purchase and then some!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
Sassyrred 10/25/2007 11:09:00 PM
After reading raves about this I HAD to try it! (since mascara/foundations are my achille's heel) What I don't care for is the BIG FAT tube since it is bulkier to store. I also don't care for the BIG FAT brush, but everyone elses seems to like it. I find it harder to get on my lashes verses the thin brushes, yet I understand that is the point of this mascara, BIG/FAT. The last thing is that I think the price of this mascara is getting up there at $8 something a tube. What I do like is the dark pigment, it gives volume and lengthen the first time around, but still not as dramatic as I thought it would be. The brush on this one is the biggest compared to the earlier two, lash exact and volume lash exact. Compared to the other two it does seem to *fan* out the lashes more. When I used my Lancome Cils Booster that is when I saw the best look! All in all it isn't that I would not buy again at some point, maybe, but since I need to choose a Yes or No answer, I will say, No. ***Edited**** After using CG Lash Exact this morning, I instantly saw the difference Lash Blast makes! I will be repurchaing Lash Blast!! I changed the rating to a 4 from a 3.

Lotions/ Creams -Sally Hansen - Spray On Shower Off Hair Remover
Sassyrred 7/8/2007 11:07:00 AM
I LOVE this product! Years back Walmart sold this product called Marzena? or such and it worked great! Then I couldn't find it and bought one by Nair and Sally Hansen, both of which didn't worked so well. Recently I tried Sally's lastest product and I LOVE it. First time I used it I didn't wait long enough and the the nozzle where you spray is a bit hard to depress so I was not liking the product, BUT, tried it again and WA LA! I sprayed it on my legs in the shower like it states and due to the texture it is NOT runny so I was able to step out of the shower and wait a full 5 minutes and then when I rinished it off my legs were smooooooth. It takes days for the hair to start to grow back and it seems finer and softer. No nics! really it is not messy, the dispenser is a bit hard to depress but otherwises I LOVE it!

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Eye Brightener [DISCONTINUED]
Sassyrred 3/26/2007 3:15:00 PM
I hadn't planned on buying this product but somehow I found myself handing over my credit card. I compare this to my beloved pricey YSL Touche Eclat, which I prefer over Bobbi Brown. I prefer the pen over the jar which tends to get messy. You wouldn't think it would be messy but the product tends to get on the lid and when you put the lid back on it gets around the grooves and...it gets messy. I also don't like having to clean a concealer brush daily, which I don't have with the YSL pen. I find YSL is a bit brighter for my eyes and not as drying, whereas BB tends to dry the skin around my eyes out a bit. I have used it over and under my concealer and it works best under where YSL works just as well over my concealer and I don't get dried out. BB is more economical but if I don't like it, then I won't use it which has been the case, so it just sits in my makeup case alone and unloved.

Mascara -Maybelline - Define A Lash
Sassyrred 3/16/2007 2:33:00 PM
I have liked quite a few of Maybelline's mascara's. One of my favorites was Lash Expansion, so I had no problem buying their lastest one that the wand looks similiar to Cover Girl's lash exact and Max Factors lash perfection. The one thing I noticed right away and I don't care for is the wand is a bit wobbly compared to the other two. It gives good lengthen, dark pigment, good separation and wears all day. It does not give volume but if I use my Lancome Cils booster it helps a bit and it actually seems to extend the lashes even longer! Sometimes I use it with my Cover Girl volume exact mascara to top off my lashes. The price is good, and I would repurchase.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Telescopic
Sassyrred 2/26/2007 1:09:00 PM
I am glad I got this on sale. I wasn't going to buy it but I am a sucker for a new mascara. This does give lengthen like stated but no volume. I like the dark pigment but it flakes when I separate my lashes. The brush is really odd and not easy to use. My lashes don't seem to hold the style throughout the day. I will not be repurchasing.

Primer/ Corrector -Sue Devitt - Microquatic Blue Anti-Aging SPF 30 Protection Primer
Sassyrred 2/26/2007 12:54:00 PM
When I bought this at Sephora the gal commented that it is always out of stock. I was expecting to love it but to my surprise I don't like it at all and for the price I am quite disappointed. I thought it would be moisturizing as stated on Sephora's website, but on my skin it is drying and doesn't spread easily. I *suspect* the Matrixyl in it is drying my skin out as it has in other products. On the Sephora website the description says it goes on translucent but in fact on me there is a whitish cast, I really look pale after applying this product. Due to the high price tag I will continue to use it up on my desk and chest area but not on my face.

Lip Treatments -Patricia Wexler MD Dermatology - No-Injection Lip Plumper with skin regenerating MMPi technology
Sassyrred 6/16/2006 1:37:00 PM
I was glad to see all the great raves on this lip plumper, since so many do nothing and are alot more money. I bought one on sale months back for $5.00 and felt and noticed a difference immediately, but it was not until my SO noticed and mentioned my lips and he never has in 10 ys, first time! so I went back and bought 2 more on sale! Enough said for this review.

Self Tanners -Lancome - Glow N Wear
Sassyrred 6/9/2006 9:14:00 PM
Lancome flash bronzer glow n wear is a very nice self-tanning gel. My only issue is the price at $29.50 is a bit hefty with all the self tanning moisturizers out there today. The reason I tried it was because I read great reviews on it here. It dries very quickly so it doen't strain my clothes or rub off on them. There is no smell, the color is good and I only apply once, but you can go darker by re-applying. More than likely I would purchase again, but there are alot of new self-tanning moisturizers to try, the only issue with them compared to this product, is they take longer to dry on the skin. I really think it is a good product minus the price tag.

Hair Color -Unlisted Brand - Robert Craig Hair Color
Sassyrred 5/29/2006 10:17:00 PM
I have been using RC color for years, alterating with other brands. and I have a love/hate relationship with it. I LOVE the color-I mix medium auburn with medium mahogoney. I think the price is good and with No strong chemicals to dry my hair out or knock ME out, I like it. Also I have spoken with Robert and he is very helpful with color and mixing colors. Now the negative, due to lack of peroxide etc. the color doesn't last as long. My hairdressor taught me a trick with RC. Put the hair in a cap and add hot air and I also blow around the hair to heat it up and I leave on for 45 minutes or so, while this helps it still fades quicker than other brands.

Cleansers -MAC - Cleanse Off Oil
Sassyrred 5/21/2006 2:52:00 PM
I will be the odd one out here, but after using my beloved Jojoba oil that works great and is cheap! I decided to give MAC a try. Something in this oil sometimes dries my face out? could be an allergy or such so that is one negative for me AND the second negative is that it clouds my eyesight! which I hate! Jojoba oil never does that! I really need to clean/rinse my eyes with MAC, but with Jojoba oil I don't care if there is residual because it sinks in and is good for my face. So while I love MAC's makeup and brush cleaner (had to sneak that in ;), it is back to my cheap and wonderful Jojoba oil for my face!

Self Tanners -Hawaiian Tropic - Island Glow Daily Moisturizer [DISCONTINUED]
Sassyrred 4/16/2006 8:33:00 PM
I found this the other day at Savon and after reading rave reviews here, despite the high price tag of over $8.00 I decided to try it. There was an instant rebate of $2.00 so that helped. One thing I hated about Jergens was the smell! but the price was good. The smell is much better with this one and it performs the same, I had slight color the next day after application. More than likely I will stick with this one but I definitely will look and buy on sale!

Loose Powders -Lancome - Absolue Powder
Sassyrred 4/14/2006 9:14:00 PM
The price for this setting powder is too high so it immediately losses a "lipstick" from me. I wanted to try this as I love the cream foundation and I didn't want to cover up the dewiness of the foundation on my dry cheeks. When it came in the mail and I saw the amount I got, it didn't justify $50.00! That said the powder is microfine and melts into the skin. I have other powders and mineral powders that give me the same effect so for $50, I will not be repurchasing. It is not a bad powder, quite nice actually but way over priced considering there are other powders that will do the same job for alot less and more powder.

Styling Products -Sebastian - Zero(g) Runway Finishing Spray
Sassyrred 4/14/2006 9:07:00 PM
Sebastian Zero use to be my favorite hairspray, before Amplify by Matrix. It still deserves a good review though as it never flatten my thin strand, thick hair. It isn't cheap but for years it worked well for me. It gave me light styling hold, not a strong hold and some days I did need something stronger but at the time it was one of the only hairsprays that I could find to hold my hair and so up until recently I repeatly bought it . While I would still recommend it and not entirely opposed to buying it again, Amplify by Matrix has replaced my Sebastian.

Scrubs -Olay - Regenerist Microdermabrasion and Peel Kit
Sassyrred 4/14/2006 9:00:00 PM
I use to sell Epidermx which did a good job making my face smooth, When I stopped selling it I wanted to find something I could buy locally. I heard that Philosophy was very good and then I read reviews on Olay's system and that is was very similiar minus the cost. Well I really like Olay's system, it leaves my face very smooth without the harshness that Epidermx gave me while massaging it into my face. While for a drugstore product it isn't cheap, it is still worth a try! I have no desire to try Philosophy now since it costs about double.
