Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
Peaches1027 12/9/2012 8:54:00 PM
I love this cleanser. It smells freshly soapy, and it cleans my combo skin without drying it out or leaving a residue. It's thick and it doesn't foam very much. A little goes a long way, making it more economical than the price initially implies. I will repurchase.
Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Infallible eyeshadow in Eternal Sunshine
Peaches1027 11/28/2012 10:21:00 PM
I will not review the formula of this shadow because all the great things people say about it are true. I'll just review the color, which is my third purchase from this line. This is a very pretty yellow gold that really opens up and brightens the eye area. It pairs well with any contour color, especially matte teals and blues. I enjoy wearing it, but the shimmer is over the top and makes it less wearable than I prefer, so therefore I will not repurchase.
Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Infallible Eyeshadow - Bronzed Taupe
Peaches1027 11/28/2012 10:17:00 PM
I won't review the formula of this eyeshadow because it's been discussed quite accurately many times. I'll just review the color, which is my second purchase from this line. This is a medium silver taupe that is good for days when you need eyeshadow but only have time to apply a single color. It doesn't need anything else, and on my skin it's too light to use as a contour color anyway. I don't prefer it as a transition color either. It's too shimmery. This doesn't layer as well as I'd like, but you have to layer it or else it looks too silvery. I like this, but I don't love it, and while I will continue to use it, I will not repurchase.
Eye Shadow -TheBalm - Meet Matt(e) Eyeshadow Palette
Peaches1027 11/28/2012 10:12:00 PM
Now that I've owned this for a couple of weeks and have used every color in the palette, I feel ready to write a review. I've used this nearly every day since I got it, and I love it. The colors are very pigmented and wear well even without primer, although I prefer to use primer under all of my eyeshadows. I can create endless looks with this, and I like the soft sophistication of the colors. I also pair these matte colors with shimmers and frosts with great results. The only two duds in this palette are Matt Chung and Matt Smith, the lightest colors in the palette. They are not very pigmented and are chalky. That's why I couldn't give this five lippies. The other colors are great, and if I had to pick a favorite, it's Matt Schilling. Cute cardboard packaging. Regular price this is $34.00, but I got it for $19.40 including shipping on an ipsy promotion. I would repurchase this. I think it's a great value. Just be prepared to supplement the palette with other highlighting colors to replace Matt Chung and Matt Smith.
Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Infallible 24 HR Eye Shadow Bottomless Java 800
Peaches1027 11/7/2012 7:04:00 PM
I've been wearing this for about a month, and now I'm ready to review it. This is the only shade I own in this line. It's a dark warm brown with some golden and pinkish flecks in it. I get different looks with this depending on the brush I use. When I use a fluffier shadow brush I get a slightly shimmery taupe that is perfect for every day use all over the lid, very natural, warm and brightening at the same time. When I use a more traditional, dense shadow brush, I get a dark, rich, warm chocolate brown that I use as a crease color with my Maybelline CT in Barely Beige or as an all-over color for some drama. I've also blended this with olive green and metallic gray shadows, and it looks great. This is a very versatile color. I've never worn this with primer, so it creases slightly after a few hours, but nothing that I would mark it down for. I love the packaging. It's substantial, but since it's plastic it's not heavy. I would repurchase this, and I will also repurchase in other colors. It deserves five lippies.
Fragrances -Philosophy - Amazing Grace Eau De Parfum
Peaches1027 11/4/2012 10:54:00 PM
This is a beautiful fragrance, clean, fresh, flowery, and very feminine. I fell in love with it the first time I tried it, and bought it on the spot. I hardly ever do this. Unfortunately, the scent fades after about two hours, which is unacceptable to me in a fragrance, so I will not repurchase it. I'll continue to enjoy the bottle I have, though. This layers well with Chanel Coco, and will last all day, although the scent is different of course, but still very pretty. I recommend experimenting with layering this with stronger, spicy fragrances to see if you can get more mileage out of it.
Blush -Tarte - Amazonian Clay Long-Wear Blush in Tipsy
Peaches1027 11/4/2012 10:47:00 PM
I own this product in Natural Beauty and I am not a fan of it. However, after finally learning how to apply it and liking the way it gives such a natural look, I decided to try a peachy color, so I purchased Tipsy. I love it. I apply Bare Minerals bronzer in Skinny Dip under my cheekbone, and I sweep this on my cheekbones with an angled blush brush. This blush gives me what all of us want: A lit-from-within flush. It doesn't last very long, maybe four to six hours, which is much less than claimed, but because of the natural, glowing look, all is forgiven. This is very pigmented, so a light sweeping or tapping application is a must. I will repurchase this in a pink color soon. I have to add that the SA at Sephora tried to talk me out of Tipsy. I have medium olive skin, and she said it was too bright and coral-y for my skin. She was wrong. This pulls peach on me, and looks great.
Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Infallible Gel Lacquer Liner in Blackest Black
Peaches1027 11/4/2012 10:40:00 PM
This product ties with Maybelline Color Tattoo as one of the best drugstore products ever created. I've been using this every day for about a month, and I just repurchased in another color, Espresso. This product comes in a small glass jar with a brush that has a plastic cap to protect it. I tap the brush into the product and apply from my outer eye inward. One sweep gives me a perfectly lined lashline that never needs touching up, never smudges or fades, and lasts even through a 20-minute hot shower, and must be removed with makeup remover. So now you know why I just bought another color! I purchased the Maybelline gel liner at the same time I purchased this one, and I do not recommend the Maybelline one at all. The Maybelline version fades in a few hours. L'Oreal is so much better. Highly recommend.
Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
Peaches1027 11/3/2012 8:31:00 PM
I had a hard time giving this a rating because as an eyeliner it doesn't perform very well. I purchased this in Brown, and when I apply it to my waterline and lower lash line it disappears in three hours. However, as an eyebrow gel it is wonderful. It gives a very natural look, filling my brows nicely, and it lasts all day. I recommend this as a brow gel, but not an eyeliner.
Liquid -BeneFit Cosmetics - "Hello Flawless!" Oxygen Wow
Peaches1027 10/3/2012 9:45:00 PM
I wore this foundation every day for a week before returning it. First of all, if you have oily skin and/or large pores, do not buy this product. This foundation is for normal to dry skin. Also, do not buy this foundation if you have a lot of acne scarring or redness because the coverage is light, and layering the foundation produces cakiness. All that said now, I wear 2N1 in EL DW, a 2 in EL DWL, and 2NC1 in EL IF. In Hello Flawless I wore Champagne, and it was a nearly perfect match. I was pleased with the light coverage and the light reflecting properties. My skin looked beautiful and yes, flawless when I was wearing this. I had to return this foundation because after a week the luminizing particles in it irritated my skin and made me itch like crazy. Bottom line: If you have normal to dry skin that is relatively clear and not too red, and if your skin is not sensitive, you will love this foundation. All other ladies should pass on it.
Not sure how I overlooked this for so long. This is a great freeze spray. It holds the style in my straight, fine hair all day. I spray this at the roots before I dry my hair, and then style with the dryer. When I've combed my hair into place I spray again, and my hair doesn't budge. The trick to using this is to hold the can at least a foot away from your head. If you hold it too close you're going to get a crunchy, streaky mess. Move the can quickly over your style. If you spray in one place too long you are going to get a crunchy mess too. I don't have good results when I use this with backcombing. It's too heavy for it, so I use a lighter spray to hold my backcombing. Used properly, this is a dream come true for fine hair.
This was recommended to me by the SA at Sally's. I fell in love with this from the first time I tried it, and I've been using it ever since. It leaves my hair soft and silky, and moisturizes it without making it flat or greasy. I can skip conditioner when I use this, and I've basically abandoned all of my other (higher end) shampoos. They are sitting in the cabinet collecting dust. I recommend this. For reference, my hair is long, straight and fine.
Lip Treatments -Smith's Rosebud Salve - Smith's Rosebud Salve
Peaches1027 9/25/2012 2:27:00 PM
I use this on my cuticles. It's the only product that makes them soft and smooth and keeps them that way. I rub the excess on my hands, and sometimes on my lips, and it moisturizes them very well. I'm not a fan of the tin packaging. It's hard to open and can chip a manicure. It's not very sanitary either. I bought this in the tube in an attempt to overcome the sanitary issue, and the formula wasn't the same. It was thinner and less moisturizing. I didn't like it at all. So I continue to repurchase this in the tin for what it does for my cuticles.
Mascara -Jordana - Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara
Peaches1027 9/25/2012 2:24:00 PM
I bought this mascara based on board recommendations. This is inexpensive, makes my lashes thick and black, and does not smudge, even after wearing it all day. No wonder it's hard to find. I will definitely repurchase this.
Eye Shadow -Maybelline - COLOR TATTOO barely beige
Peaches1027 9/25/2012 2:21:00 PM
This is my 5th or 6th CT, and I'm not going to review the formula. All the great things people say about it is true. This color is a slightly shimmery pale beige that looks very nice worn alone, and works perfectly as a base. I wear it almost every day. If you apply it with your finger you get a sheer wash that lasts all day, and when applied with a brush the pigmentation really shows. This also blends well with other shadows, both cream and powder, and is a subtle highlighter for the browbone. I can't enough about this color. Hopefully this makes it into the permanent line. The Color Tattoos are one of the best drugstore products to come along ever. I will repurchase.
